Hello, honored members and guests, and welcome to WANDS AT THE READY, a post potter rpg. As always on any respectable forum, there must be rules, and it seems that you've found them! Congrats. Make sure to pay attention, because all of the rules here are important.

ooc.

OOC, for those of you who don't know, stands for Out of Character. On many sites, most of the comedy and such happens within the OOC section, but there's also the parts of an IC (in-character) post where people like to herp-a-derp around and say fun things. Here are a few limitations, though.

For one, no sexually explicit images, text, or links are allowed on the board, as this may result in us being shut down for good. Another thing to consider is that there is no excessive swearing anywhere on the site. We are a PG-13 site in accordance with ProBoard's TOS.

For each real life year there will be two school terms. Term dates will be established at a later time and can be found within the site calendar.

Your display name should be your character's FIRST MIDDLE AND LAST NAME all in caps as shown.

There are to be no characters playable under 3rd year. If you'd like to co-play one of these characters on the canon list, contact an administrator.

pp & gm.

Ah, powerplay and god-modding. The two go hand in hand, do they not? Powerplaying is acting as if you control the other person's puppet. Which you don't. For example: "Bob held Jane's hand and pulled her away while she laughed and danced around like a clown." See what's wrong? The one controlling Bob could not also control Jane at the same time. It's just not right. For all we know, Jane could have pulled out a gun and shot his face off. But we don't, since Bob's puppeteer decided that it was okay to control Jane. Any reports of powerplaying will be investigated and dealt with accordingly.

God-modding is a tad bit different. Let's say that Jane did pull out a shotgun. "Jane pulled a gun out of it's holster, and Bob tried to punch her, but his hand broke the instant it touched her." Who sees the problem? Yes, you, sitting in front of your computer with your hand on your cheek. That's right! She acted as if she was invincible, and poor Bob never had a chance. No puppet is allowed to be unkillable. We do request that any major disturbance in your character's life, such as pregnancies or deaths, be approved by administration beforehand.

role-play.

We here at WANDS AT THE READY do not have a miniumum word count requirement. We do recommend, however, that you try and match what your posting partner has. IC posts are allowed to be in third person only, and are meant to be in past-tense (meaning no "Bob pokes Jane." It should be "Bob poked Jane.") Also, watch for spelling or grammar mistakes, because we are a literate site, and we dnt wnt ppl 2 tlk lik dis. We accept all levels of role-players, but please try and make sure your posts have minimal errors. We understand mistakes happen, of course, but at least re-read your writing.

application.

Every new application will have to post in the registration board, where admins/ mods will look them over and move them to the appropriate sections. In general, you will have 7 days to complete your application, once the application has exceeded a week we will move it under abandon where it will sit for a month before it will be move to archive.

You may inform us staffs that you're still working on said application by putting your last edit date on the Topic Description field (format: WIP, DD-MM-YYYY // eg: WIP 27-06-2014). If the date has not exceed 7 days, we won't move your application.

An application being denied and moved to abandoned doesn't mean you may not complete your application. In fact, you can still edit and bump up said application for our attention, and we will look it through and proceed as per normal.

abilities.

Here is our list of abilities offered, as well as information about that specific ability. There are some restrictions, so please read these carefully.

Born-with.
- Veela. Half, quarter, and eighths allowed. Fulls are not allowed.
- Giant. Half, quarter, and eigthths allowed. Fulls are not allowed.
- Metamorphmagus.
- Parseltongue. Must have permission from Lacey.
- Vampire. Full, half, and quarter allowed.
- Werewolf. Full, half, and quarter allowed.
- Animal affinity. (a fondness/natural bond with animals.)
- Animal communication. Cannot talk with snakes with this ability. Must choose one animal or one type of animal to talk to i.e. felines, fish, etc.
- Seers. Must have a Seer in the family - does not have to be parent.

Learned/Acquired.
- Vampire - through bite. Please clarify with administrator.
- Werewolf - through scratch/bite. Please clarify with administrator.
- Non-verbal magic. 17+ only. Requires two ic-months to learn.
- Occlumency. 17+ only. Requires two ic-months to learn.
- Legillimency. 17+ only. Requires two ic-months to learn.
- Wandless magic. 16+ only. Requires two ic-months to learn.
- Animagus. 15+ only. Requires three ic-months to learn.

All abilities must be posted in your application. Abilities need some clarification: your character can have a learned/acquired ability and does not require the amount of time listed above if it is in the application and already happened to your character. You do not have to sign up and then wait to be an animagus if you're a sixth year - your character can already have been an animagus. The required times above are for people who have decided after applying that they want their character to learn that ability.

images/style.

You already know the restriction on sexually explicit images, but did you know that there's actually more than porn on the internet!? Me neither, until now! Anyway, gory, offensive, or otherwise unsafe images are banned from the forum for obvious reasons. Also, no rapidly blinking images, as we want to respect our members who have epilepsy and other disorders that may be triggered by those images. Images found to be within violation of that will be removed, and (depending on the offense) a ban may be implemented to ensure member safety. Another thing is, please do not stretch the board. If you know an image will stretch the board wider than normal, please post the link rather than placing [IMG][/IMG] tags. Signatures should not exceed our maximum height of 350px. Hover image would be 230 x 400px and you may put up to 150 x 150px as your avatar.

profile.

While there's no regulation for a character's username (the name your account was registered under), all character profiles' display name should be written as character's FIRST MIDDLE LAST name all in CAPS. It is advised for you to fill in the rest of the fields accordingly too, as it is available, especially for the Alias field, as it will help us identify who's playing said character more easily.

pm.

There's always been a huge conflict with PMs. No, not pre-menstrual syndrome, Personal Messages. As is obvious, there is no sexually explicit/offensive/unsafe images in PMs, blah blah blah. But there's also no advertisement via PM. Unless the person in question actually requests a link to a site, you are not to send advertisements through PM. If you really want to advertise, there's a board for that - so do it there. Please note that any violation of the PM rules will result in your PM privileges being revoked.

tolerance & flaming.

As you should have already guessed by now, we have a very strict rule on intolerance and general rudeness. In essentials, you will not ridicule your fellow members by the color of their skin, sexuality, lifestyle, or otherwise. Violation of that rule will result in immediate and (if necessary) permanent termination of your account. On the subject, rudeness towards Staff, members, guests, or any other member of our society will not be tolerated, and will result in termination of your account.

Staff.

You really have to love the Staff, correct? Well, think about this; they have jobs to do, and any impediment on how well they can perform that task depends on how the members act. Don't disrespect the Staff at all, please. It makes their job even harder and, after all, we all should get along best as possible.

On a separate note, we do occasionally recruit Staff when we seem to have high activity rates, some of the other Staff are busy, etc. so make sure you're active because you may be recruited! If you're not recruited as Staff then have no fear - there is plenty on the site to do as a member.

Temporary Bans.

We are currently exercising several temporary bans as said features are overused. If you have any questions regarding the bans, please feel free to approach any one of our staff.
