Post by LEYSHELL NICOLE CONNER on Oct 31, 2013 18:03:10 GMT -5
Leyshell had rushed around her dorm to get ready for the day. She was going on her first non-manipulative date and she was kind of nervous. It didn’t matter that the guy in question was younger or hadn’t had a date before, she was determined to make sure it didn’t get destroyed. She checked out her outfit one more time in the mirror after going through a million different colors of hair before she decided to stop using her ability. Her hair slowly became the annoying strawberry blonde and grew past her shoulder hanging like a curtain. She huffed and crossed her arms when the bangs hung lifelessly in her eyes. She blew air at it and momentarily lifted it out of her face. Of course it wouldn’t be to bad if it was slightly curly, it’s not like girls never curled their hair. Satisfied with her hair she grab her bag and quickly walked from dungeons, no matter what Zar or Fin said she did not run nor skip.
As she walked down the hallway she held the box of dancing guitar shaped chocolates in her hand. It had taken her hours and many failed attempts but she had managed to get the result she wanted. She remember what instrument he played and from their she kind of went creative. Playing with the red and gold ribbon on the box she wondered if he would like it. Pfft what should I care if he likes it or not, he should be grateful. Unfortunately try as she might she wasn’t able to fool herself with that thought, she probably wouldn’t be able to fool a hufflepuff with the way her heart was beating. Turning the corner she spotted matt standing against the wall waiting. She quickly turned around and hid behind the wall. This was so new to her; being nervous, not hiding herself and blushing. He was different and made her want to actually be nice, maybe not scowl all the time. She was pretty sure he was genuine too, and that was so hard to find at least to her. Still peeking around the corner he seemed to be waiting patiently, leave it to a Gryffindor to be looking calm and collected when her heart was beating out of her chest. She kept replaying the kiss from the day before in her mind and each time it caused her to blush.
She had to lie and say she was sick so Finley and Zar would leave her alone, although she wasn’t to sure they believed her. Sighing to herself she slowly stepped from behind the corner and smiled, she might as well face the music now. She skipped over to him waving before saying in a sing-songy voice ”What’s up buttercup?” as per her usual greeting. Maybe she should start calling him other things but she never used words like ‘baby’ or ‘sweetheart’ to address anyone unless she was being sarcastic.

Matt was as nervous as all get out. This was his first date, and he could definitely feel the butterflies that Aaron and Kyle both had teased him would be there. He hadn't told Kyle who the date was with, though he had figured Aaron would say something about it later on. Sighing, he figured he'd be fine, but that wasn't going to stop the nervousness. He figured he needed to be calm, but this morning he had been struggling to maintain any kind of calmness. Getting dressed, he took a deep breath before looking over at the over-sized teddy bear he had gotten for Leyshell. That had been Aaron's advice as it was a supposedly safe bet, since most girls seemed to like animals, be they stuffed or real, anyways. Matt had tried laughing it off as a stereotype, yet he still found himself getting the teddy bear just as a cautious reaction. He wasn't happy that he had gotten the bear based on a cautious train of thought.
He grabbed the teddy bear and exited the dorm room and quickly made his way through the Common Room. It had been empty, but he just didn't really want to chance it today. If nothing else he was eager to avoid trouble. He was a bit surprised when he saw Aaron waiting for him on the other side of the portal. Nodding to Aaron as he passed, he felt Aaron pat him on the back as he went down to where he and Leyshell were supposed to meet. Matt wouldn't really admit it, but Aaron was someone he felt he actually could trust, well at least since having his shell broken. He was a bit surprised that he could think that as before the shell was broken, he saw Aaron as annoying. Maybe that was why he wasn't so peeved that Melfina had dragged Aaron off to the Forest, or that the two seemed to be plotting something.
Arriving at the meeting place, Matt leaned against the wall, setting the teddy bear next to him. He was finally able to at least maintain the appearance of calm, but at the heart of it all, he was still as nervous as all get out. Letting his mind go back to the day before, he started thinking about the kiss, his first one, and how it had been on an impulse in a little challenge that Leyshell had laid out. He remembered her saying that she hoped he didn't need a challenge to kiss her the next time, and he remembered kissing her again shortly after a later challenge on his part. What she had done to win the challenge he should've expected. The problem was, he just didn't at all.
Seeing her skip over his way, he waved in response to her wave, smiling when he heard her normal greeting for him. "Not a lot, but the day's still young. What's up with you?" he replied with the smile still on his face. He had wondered previously if it was appropriate for him to come up with some sort of pet name or something for her since she had maybe two or three for him already. The problem was knowing what was going to be a good one or what was going to sound a little weird or crazy. Well, it wasn't like he had taken challenges before, but would he succeed at this one?

“Nothing much, just excited.” Leyshell replied eyeing the teddy bear beside him and then the box of chocolates on her hand before handing them to him. She didn’t exactly know if she was supposed to give them to him now or later so she just figured now. She had gotten a lot of birthday gifts and valentines day cards which she had yet to go through. She would much rather spend her day goofing around with Mathew than answering her fan mail so to speak. She was still smiling when she reached up and kissed his cheek before blushing hotly. She was always an affectionate person but she rarely got butterflies when she showed it, she guessed it was just the person in question. Sometimes she felt like a giant nerd around him when she was supposed to be the person that had already been through this before.
She waited and looked him over and couldn’t help but think that he looked good. His colors though made her scrunch up her nose cutely, maybe she should’ve wore green to see what his reaction would be. She had nothing wrong with the house nor his house pride, but she would so try and convince him to wear green. Leyshell herself wouldn’t wear red but then again she against anything that made her seem pale and vampire like. Tilting her head to the side she wondered what they should do now “Happy valentines day?” She said it was more of question than anything, she rarely had anything to do with stupid holiday. Of course her birthday was the most important day of the year, more important than Christmas. It wasn’t that she was vain or anything and people made her out to be. She was more conceited and even though they were the same thing she always associated the word vain with trophy wives and conceited with beauty and secrets. She had no problem with being conceited, she could admit that.
That feeling in the bottom of her stomach came back again and she couldn’t quite pinpoint what that feeling was. She was nervous but excited at the same time and not to mention a plethora of other emotion. She was still confused as to how that came about, she prided herself in her false sincerity and her ‘I don’t care’ attitude. Shifting slightly from foot to foot she looked at him smiling “Are you ready to go?” She silently prayed to the powers that be that this would go well. She really didn’t want this ruined especially since she basically asked him to ask her out. She wasn’t exactly sure how it was supposed to go in that aspect as she had never asked anyone out before. She assumed that girls asked that way or a different way she wasn’t entirely sure, she didn’t pay attention to how people got together just that they were together. Playing with the edge of her shirt the realized she might be a bit cold, her shirt didn’t cover her entire belly, her belly ring hung straight, sparkling in light. Although she tried to stay away from any house colors her piercing was sliver and green and her earrings also wrapped around her ears like snakes. She laughed inwardly, maybe she was just as bad him with house colors.MATTHEW SVEN JOHANSON

"Yeah, I am too. Just somehow managed to keep from being visibly nervous," Matt replied ruefully, accepting the box with a smile. He blushed when she kissed his cheek, though he did note how much she had blushed from kissing his cheek, which was interesting. The fact that she was nervous too was a relief, though also surprising because he would've sworn she had done this sort of thing before, even if it was from manipulation. Either way, experience in dating should mean confidence in dating right? Well, this may have been a first for Leyshell in away, which was interesting to think about, but not too surprising if it was accurate. Either way, he was at least fighting nervousness due to this being his first date period. If he had listened to his fellow Gryffindors, this may not have happened, but even Aaron backed the idea, albeit reluctantly. Well, it's not like he really talked to anyone in Gryffindor house anyways, so why care?
"Happy Valentines day to you too, and I also heard that there was more than just Valentines day for you when it came to today," he replied, wondering if what he was told was correct. He had heard that it was her Birthday courtesy of Kyle asking around and getting that information to him, but he wasn't sure there were many Slytherins he could trust outside of Kyle, Melfina, and of course Leyshell. Aaron had questioned if it was wise to have three Slytherins in his circle of friends, but Matt had quickly brought up that Aaron had no room to talk since he was friends with Kyle and Melfina, while Melfina was Matt's sister, so she was automatically going to be someone he talked to and hung out with quite a bit anyways. Kyle was a guy that seemed to be just like Aaron in that he had wanted Matt out of his shell. Neither had succeeded though, as Leyshell had done that. He still saw those two as friends though, despite the fact that Aaron seemed to be talking to Melfina a lot about who knows what.
"Yeah, are you?" he replied with a smile. He noted what she was wearing, hoping she wouldn't get too cold. Worst case scenario he'd just summon a jacket from his dorm room, or buy one if necessary. Then, almost as if remembering at the last minute, he put the box under his arm briefly as he picked up the teddy bear. "Oh yeah, this is for you," he said with a smile, handing the bear to her. He hoped she liked it, but the only way he'd find out was if he waited to see what her reaction was going to be. Any bit of concern or worry was going to risk getting him into trouble, and he didn't want that happening at all. As such, he did a good job of keeping a poker face consisting of a hopeful smile, though it was a bit hard to keep his eyes from showing that he was partially afraid that the bear was a bad idea. Then again, what did he have to lose other than this going wrong? Well, just that really and that was actually pretty much a big deal.

Leyshell was more relaxed now that he had admitted that he was indeed nervous, her heart wasn’t beating so fast now. Tilting her head to the side she was a bit confused at his question before she realized what he meant, nodding her head and then smiling “Yep today’s my 16th birthday” she confirmed. She didn’t think he would know that after all they had only been friends for a short time. But then again he was friends with Kyle so that made sense. She nodded excitedly to his question, she was more than ready to ditch the castle and see how things would play, hopefully it wouldn’t be to much of a disaster.
She smiled and her eyes went big when he handed her the teddy bear even though she knew it was for her coming over. She had a weakness for over sized teddy bear courtesy of the muggle fair she visited in America. Taking she smiled brightly and kissed him on the lips this time, although she had to reach up a bit seeing as he was taller than her. “Thanks” she replied before taking his hand and leading him out the door.
The air was a bit chilly but nothing she couldn’t handle and she had to remember not to just drag him along with her no matter the excitement. She did that a lot though, drag him places and he didn’t seem to mind, at least she though he didn’t. Not caring is anybody saw she looped her fingers through his and let them both hang beside them. This was different than just meeting up and putting on a show for a bunch of onlookers, she was surprised by her eagerness to show him off. She laughed inwardly at that seeing has her mom though it was the other way around.
They seemed to get to the village quicker than she expected and she frowned, hopefully the date wouldn’t go by that fast. She considered this her first real date and hope it was just as ‘special’ as all though ditzy bimbos in her dorm gossiped that were. Although Leyshell wasn’t one for clichés she wanted this one to be true. She held on to the fact that he was different so if nothing else this would be interesting. ”Were going to the three broomsticks right?”

"Ah, thought so. Wasn't entirely sure I had gotten accurate information. Then again, I don't think the guy who told me even knew why it was something important in my book," he replied with a shrug. Kyle hadn't known a thing about Matt's interest in Leyshell, much less that he and Leyshell were going on a date today. Then again, Aaron could easily spoil that by saying something, or Melfina might let it slip since Kyle might have talked to her once or twice. Then again, Melfina might not respond if Kyle talked to her, even though Melfina knew Kyle was his friend. Matt really didn't feel right letting Kyle talk to Melfina as he knew the kind of guy Kyle was, and that kind of personality was not a good fit around a girl who had only recently even gotten into the school due to a decade of being held captive by a still on the run dark wizard. That guy was going to pay at some point, though Matt just wasn't quite sure when.
"You're welcome," he replied with a smile, kissing her on the lips in response to her kiss. That was a huge bit of relief to him as he was glad that she liked the bear. Aaron's suggestion was a lucky one on his part, but Matt wasn't going to tell him that now was he? If he did that, Aaron would start getting a big head, and Matt would have to knock him out to shut him up, and Matt was not in the mood to be punching anyone any time soon. If he felt that way about anything, he'd probably just lock himself in the dorm room until the urges to punch someone passed by. It was frustrating to deal with that, but it was just something he had to deal with. Then again, it was a lot less now due to the fact that he was out of his shell and that he was around Leyshell so much.
Matt never really thought too much about how much Leyshell seemed to like dragging him around. He really didn't mind it, as she always seemed to have some sort of idea that was usually pretty good. It wasn't like he had anything to worry about in terms of where she might drag him off to anyways. She was too much fun to be around, and he didn't want to be left behind while she went on some crazy adventure or idea. Then again, he had no idea how to bring that up without it sounding weird, even if they were going on a date. He didn't want to be controlling or obsessive, two things Aaron and Kyle had warned him about when bringing up the kinds of girls he should avoid. He figured it was guys showing those same kinds of traits that ended up screwing up quite a bit, so he needed to avoid those traits like the plague.
"Yeah. Figured we'd start off there, and then go wherever we felt like afterwards," he replied with a nod. It was a decent starting place, and he hoped that their date in Hogsmeade would go well. He just had to avoid trying to hard. That was something Aaron had advised him on, though where Aaron got this Matt had no idea, as to his knowledge Aaron hadn't had a girlfriend before. Maybe it was stuff Aaron's dad had told him, which was likely. Well, there was no point in trying to figure that out, as Matt was likely going to end up with a headache if he tried. Best to leave that a mystery.

Leyshell nodded in agreement, she was getting that funny feeling in her stomach again. It wasn’t terrible but it was awesome either. Strange she was sure she would be over analyzing this date if it was anybody else but at they walked into the little pub she was contently swinging their hands as they walked. She felt a bit goofy though, just sitting there not doing anything but smiling. They couldn’t just stay silent through the whole thing so she sat down, dragging matt along with her. Not sure how to start a conversation she traced circles on the table top. She wasn’t always this awkward honest, it was just he made her nervous, she didn’t want to say something stupid.
Taking a deep breath she tilted her head to the side and smiled “there are soo many sappy couples in here” she said pointing to the the random couples making goo goo eyes at each other. She wasn unaware that they probably looked just as bad to the onlookers. She could care less though, still she scrunched up her nose cutely at the other couples. She wasn’t sure if they were even a couple, he hadn’t ask but then again he wasn’t to update with these things. She still had the teddy bear in her arms, it was cuddly and it was probably the only time she allowed herself to act childish as she squeezed it.”
“This is probably the second biggest on I have.” She told him excitedly, it was awesome and she was glad he got it for her. She eyed the box of chocolates she gave him and wondered if he would like them, for the first time she felt self-conscious. Biting her lips she looked up at him through her eyelashes and smiled softly ’I hope you like the chocolates.” she whispered, she didn’t want to sound as insecure as she felt, she wasn’t like that. She was the type to know she was awesome and not care about what people think, but he seemed to be the exception to that too.

Butterflies in his stomach, that wasn't a fun experience for him at all. Then again, he couldn't recall the last time he was actually nervous over something good, so there was a reason why things felt off to him because of the nervousness he was feeling. He hoped things wouldn't stay this off, as he would rather not feel like it was bad to be nervous the entire date. Inexperience played a huge part in how he was feeling, but he figured that was going to happen at any rate. Watching Leyshell trace circles on the table they sat at, he wondered if she was trying to come up with something to say, though he was struggling with the same thing really. That was the weird part. They were able to talk just fine otherwise, so why was it such a challenge to do so right now? Well, in theory they'd be able to come up with something to say, right?
Hearing her speak, he couldn't help but laugh in agreement. "Yeah, there's a lot," he said, noting the irony of her comment and his reply. He couldn't help but to admit to himself that her nose scrunch was pretty cute, though he feared her reaction being negative if he commented on that. Then again, how would he know if he didn't take the risk? "You know, when you scrunch your nose up like that, it's pretty cute," he said before blushing faintly. He had to say it to find out, right? If he didn't, then he wouldn't know what her reaction was. The problem lay in the fact that he had no real way of knowing if they were actually a couple or just on a date. Aaron had explained the difference to him, but how was he to know for sure? His mind cleared when he saw her squeeze the teddy bear, causing him to smile.
"Really? That's pretty cool. Glad to know I got you at least the second biggest one you've got," he replied with a chuckle. He really was, and was glad she liked it. It was then that he remembered the box of chocolates in his hand, which he then set on the table before opening the box. He smiled when he saw that the guitar shaped chocolates were dancing before picking one up and eating it. "Well, I can safely say I will," he replied with a smile after he finished eating the chocolate. She did a good job making these chocolates, as that one at least was really good. That meant that the others would be good too right? They were after all probably made from the same batch, so what were the odds that the rest were bad when that one was good?

Leyshell blushed a bit when he called her cute “Thank you” he was the sweetest guy ever. It made her feel a bit silly for being nervous, they talked just fine in the castle maybe she was trying to hard. Sure this was kind of important to her but she should still chill out and relax. She was sure it would be awesome if she was just herself, without the mask she wore everyday. Smiling brightly and her smile got even bigger when he said he likes the chocolates “Yeah, Finley helped with the tasting though, I had to make two batches so they would be safe..” she smiled at the memory she had made a big mess for the elves to clean but they didn’t seem t mind.
That made her get and idea for the next adventure they would have, she would drag him the kitchens again. She tilted her head to the side imagining Matt with flour everywhere and she had to suppress her giggles. ”Next time we should bake together, imagine the fun of that,” she said laughing at the picture that came to mind, she most definitely would start a flour fight. He always seemed up the challenge and never minded her dragging him place which was of the things she liked about him, Finley and Zar always complained.
Still they should be talking more so she decided to turn the conversation towards the future, she never asked what he wanted to be when he graduated or even is he was planning things like. Which made her curious, would he be an auror like his father? That would be potentially problematic as she broke the law at least twice a day. ”So what do you wanna do when you graduate?” she was curious she realized they always talked about her, she hoped he didn’t think she was shallow or self-centered….okay maybe she was self-centered but if she was shallow she wouldn’t have given him the time of day. It was no surprised she liked bad boys but she figured matt was a cutie and easy to talk to so he was a good choice.

Matt smiled when she said thank you, noting her blush as well. Well that was a huge relief, as it meant that he didn't mess up by saying she was cute. He wasn't going to just jump into saying anything though, as he still wanted to be cautious to avoid trouble. He should just abandon that caution, but he knew that as soon as he did, he would do something stupid and that would blow everything. The last thing Matt wanted to do was make a mistake. Hearing her mention that she had some help from Finley with the chocolates, he chuckled. "I'm guessing that was what you two were working on that one day I saw you two talking about chocolate?" he asked with a small smirk. That was a rarity for him, as smirking was something he never really did. Well, that had to happen eventually right? He couldn't have avoided smirking forever, and that would've been weird anyways. If nothing else it was better to just let that happen and stop caring about first time stuff that he experienced.
"Yeah, that would be fun," he replied with a laugh. He did have cooking experience, which he blamed on his dad for not cooking much. Then again, if his dad had cooked, Matt wouldn't have learned how to cook, and he did love to cook. Maybe he should consider being a chef rather than an Auror, but the idea of protecting people came to his mind rather quickly. Then again, Aurors did things more in a violent and direct manner by fighting the Dark wizards, but he would be fine, right? Well, he wasn't going to know just yet. He had three whole years before he was even eligible to graduate from Hogwarts, and who knew how long after that before he was even an actual Auror. He just had to get through year four first, and year five had O.W.L.S, and he knew those were going to be far more trouble than they were worth.
"Well I've given some thought to being an Auror. I mean yeah, it's what my dad does, and that would be huge shoes to fill, but I... I dunno, I guess I just like the idea of keeping people from getting hurt," he replied with a sigh. He didn't really ever remember sharing that with anyone, but he had been opening up quite a bit when it came to talking to Leyshell, so he figured that was going to happen eventually. What did make him a bit hesitant about having said all that was how much he knew about her father at least based on what he had heard. There was nothing official, just a bunch of unconfirmed rumors that could've just been attempts to slander her father and keep him back from being in the position he held. That was always possible, but Matt just wasn't too sure. He wish he could be, but some things just didn't really work well information wise.

Leyshell was smiling goofily the whole time he was talking and that smirk caused her heart to skip a beat. She hadn’t seen it on his face before and it looked…sexy…She was mildly surprised by her train of thought because usually her thoughts were semi innocent concerning Matt. However there was that time she frenched him in the great hall but she put that on the whole challenge thing. But then there was that time with broom cupboard and then the cuddling but it was nice. Still cute and handsome were things she normally used but his smirking was….sexy. Shaking the though from her head she answer his question “Yep, apparently I made wiggly chocolate and he complained for hours that my chocolate was still wiggling in his tummy just to freak me out.” she said while shaking her head. It was bad enough she was nervous about such a personal gift.
She waited for his answer about what he wanted to be, hopefully she wouldn’t be to surprised by his answer. I mean she wouldn’t be surprised if he did indeed want to be an auror right? She braced herself for something ridiculous logical and sighed when he said he wanted to be an auror, wasn’t that bad. It’s not like she expected them to be together when they were older right? “My dad’s the Chief of the Wizengamot, so I can understand what it’s like to have a parent in law enforcement. It’s kind of difficult when he wants me to follow in his footsteps, ya know?” it wasn’t entirely a lie, and half-truths were still the truths right? If she wasn’t lying then why did she feel so bad about her answer. None the less she smiled and waited for his reply. Maybe she would trust him later, nobody new about her father’s business besides Finley and Zander and that was through family friendship. She wished everything wasn’t so complicated as she would be a normal girl. But than…normal is way over-rated. MATTHEW SVEN JOHANSON

Matt couldn't help but feel like Leyshell was caught off guard by the smirk he had given. It hadn't been an intentional expression, but she seemed to have been surprised by it, and in a good way. He just couldn't be sure though, because while yes, she was smiling a bit goofily, it didn't really mean that he had a definite idea as to what her actual reaction was to his smirk. Well, guessing was all he could do in his head, and he figured that he'd probably get a more definite reaction the next time he smirked. He just had to make sure it was at a time when it made sense to smirk rather than just doing it to see if he could get a reaction. Hearing her comment about Fin's joking about the chocolates, he chuckled. "Wow, sounds like he needs something from a skiving snack box from Weasley's Wizard Wheezes, and without the half of the snack that cures the illness," he said with a laugh. Maybe then Finley would learn not to tease Leyshell like that. Well, he'd leave that to her rather than doing that himself. That would not be safe on his part at all.
"No yeah, I do. For me it's more like just doing what I feel like is what I should do, without caring what my dad's career is. I picked being an Auror because I want to be an Auror. Who we are shouldn't be based on who are parents are or were. My dad was a Death Eater for a few months, but then he became an Auror. I'm not a Death Eater, never been one, and I'm wanting to be an Auror. See the difference?" he replied with a laugh. There he went again, telling Leyshell something no-one else had heard before. The fact that his dad had been a Death Eater for a few months had been surprising when he first heard of it, but since then he had relaxed about it quite a bit. His dad hadn't stayed a Death Eater, as he had gone into hiding rather than fight a losing battle, and had gone on to be an Auror, fighting to rid the world of dark wizards, despite the Dark Mark tattooed on the underside of his forearm. From that, Matt saw a bravery and determination to admire, and one that he did admittedly want to follow.

Leyshell laughed at his idea, he was a bit more devious than he gave himself credit for. This was turning out to be a good date. He wanted to be an auror because he looked up to his dad, and his dad had giving up being a Death Eater to be a good person. That was the most surprising thing to her, her parents had never been Death Eaters but they were bad people. Not bad in the sense that they killed every other day but they weren’t opposed to it. Heck she had no problem with hurting people to get her way, she’d been doing it for awhile and she was scared she’d hurt him. Still she admired her dad’s sense of morality and Matthew’s drive to be good. He seemed so much brighter outside his shell than it she was happy they were on the date.
She knew she couldn’t be dark and broody all the time and he was a nice change. “Yeah, but it’s harder when you’re groomed from the beginning to be either be like your mom or your dad. I chose the latter so I have to live with my choices. I’d probably be a different person if I chose to be like my mom.” She said wanting to get off the topic, to her knowledge her mother was a nice and submissive house wife. Mingling with all the other snobs and going to parties and such. She wanted no part in the nonsense nor did she want to be a socialite at the fancy parties. She wanted to club hop dance her feet off and be something unattainable. Not something that had a shelf life, unfortunately when she was with Matt all she wanted was his attention.
That was new to her and so was everything else. ” what’s your favorite color?” she asked resting her head on one of her hands. She had so many things she wanted to ask him. Not to mention so many things she wanted to ask him and not a lot of time. Still she could always question him when they passed in the hallways or until he got tired of her questions. Leyshell couldn’t help but feel excited when she thought about the rest of the day. Even if they just stayed here and talked it would be better than any of her other dates. MATTHEW SVEN JOHANSON

Matt had heard quite a number of rumors. None of them had been particularly nice about Leyshell or her father. Then again, he usually just accepted what he saw, not what he heard. Her father was chief of the Wizengamot. Leyshell was here with him on a date that to his knowledge had not come from manipulation. Both of those were reason enough for him to ignore the rumors. Leyshell hadn't gotten him into trouble, she hadn't toyed with him, and she sure as heck hadn't tried to get him to do something foolish. The rumors were just that to him, rumors. To be facts they needed visual proof to him, and there wasn't any that he had seen. Some said he was just blinded by the fact that he liked Leyshell. Only a few, really just Aaron and Kyle, had said that he was actually being open with his view, but that there was no proof to sway him. Those two had been unbiased in their observation of Leyshell, yet they still stuck by Matt despite the fact that they didn't really agree completely with him talking to her.
"Yeah, I bet. That has to be difficult, deciding whether to be like your mum or your dad," he replied with a nod. Two separate influences pulling you one of two different ways was probably the most frustrating thing a person could deal with while growing up. Matt didn't really know for sure though, as he had only grown up with his dad since his mum's death, so he really had no room to talk. If nothing else though, he was able to attest to the fact that he chose his own path, mainly because his dad was never really around due to constant travel to track down his mum's killer, not to mention the rescue of Melfina. That had been boring to sit through, and also quite a bit lonely. He was regularly on his own at home for half the summer at times, and this summer would finally be different as Melfina would be home. Well, he'd also have to deal with Aaron possibly invading, but that was only if he was right with the idea that Aaron was into Melfina. Then again, he wasn't sure he was right on that, and would only know if he waited to find out.
"You'd think red or gold right? Actually it's blue," he replied with a laugh before asking, "what about you?" He was a bit glad that she had shifted to something different for the conversation as the talk about family and career was getting a bit too heavy for the early going of a date. Any longer with that and both of them might have gone mad from it all. Well, Leyshell had saved the day on that, so there was nothing to worry about right? He let his mind wander for a moment over other places in Hogsmeade they could go if they got bored here. The Shrieking Shack might be fun, but that might be better to go to on a second date or something. He knew there were other places though, and he might just let her drag him around Hogsmeade, as he didn't want to bore her by dragging her off to wherever he wanted to go. Most of where he'd want to go might bore her, and he didn't want to do that. He did want to stop by Spintwitches to see about getting a broom as he wanted to try and see if he could try out next year for Quidditch. Well, he'd have to wait and see there.

Leyshell nodded and played with edge of the table smiling. She almost forgot he only lived with his dad and she felt bad for complaining about her mom. She really did love her mom, she just wanted her to understand they were nothing a like. Still she was glad he accepted the conversation change, she tried not to get to personal with people. Mostly because she knew once they got to close she would begin pushing them away and it only hurt herself and the person. She was trying her best not to do that here but it was kind of hard seeing how different they were. She was hoping she could be a good person for him, maybe for their friendship, relationship thing. She would hate for them to grow up and be enemies, he would be a auror and she would be a dark witch. That was inevitable and even though she knew it, she liked being a good person…but she knew it wouldn’t last.
”My favorite color is actually grey or blue depending on my mood or the day.” She smiling, Leyshell acceoted she couldn’t be thinking about the future outcome of this. She would live in the now and right now he was a sweetheart. I mean he was nice and got her a gift without wanting anything in return, that was good enough for her. She couldn’t help but think he was too nice for her, but she pushed that aside. She could focus on what she did and didn’t deserve later. Matthew deserved her full attention not just half of it, she would enjoy herself and worry about the things people says later. Still she couldn’t shut up the voice in the back of her head, and she prayed that it wouldn’t ruin their date. ” Hmmm, Favorite animal?” Hers was obvious, but she didn’t know his.
