Viona's primary gift is Animal Affinity. She inherited it from her father Alpin Zephyr, though her mother Donalda has also learned the ability as well. Viona's ability particularly works toward smaller animals such as squirrels, mice, and of course her pet rabbit Gusifus. It should also be noted that the entire family are vegetarians, refusing to eat the animals they so lovingly communicate with.

Viona boarded the Hogwarts Express, quite prepared to begin her fourth year at the famous school of wizardry that the train took them to. Brushing back her short, strawberry blonde hand, she was a most unusual sight. She was pretty with bright eyes and a lovely smile when she did smile, which was not as often as others. The unusual part came from her purple polka-dotted black dress, white stockings, and black boots that looked like something one would only wear when it was raining. Then there was the over-sized hat on her head that matched her dress. Viona knew a Gryffindor uniform would soon once again replace her attire, by the end of the train ride as a matter of fact, so she enjoyed its individuality while she could.
Not seeing her mates onboard yet, and yes Viona did have friends despite being labeled an annoying know-it-all by some, she found a cabin and sat down. The trolley walked by and the elderly woman pushing it recommended a new chocolate treat that had grown popular. Viona smiled and shook her head.
"Thanks no," she said politely, her thick, native Scottish accent shining through. Her family had moved from Glasgow to London about five years before. "I can't eat chocolate. Well I mean I can, but it makes me wicked thirsty. But I will buy a bag of the Pixie Wishes." Pixie Wishes were one of the more expensive hard fruit candies, but Viona's father was a not wealthy, but well to do shop owner in Diagon Alley, which allowed Viona some extra pocket money.
"Pixie Wishes don't have as much sugar as some of the more popular and inexpensive fruit candies, you know?" she said. "About thirty percent the usual amount I believe." The old trolley pusher simply smiled back as she spoke, and moved on after Viona paid and returned to her seat. Viona popped a Pixie Wish in her mouth and looked out the window, waving to her parents, Alpin and Donalda Zephyr, one last time before another year.
Two things then happened: A Slytherin Second Year made a rather nasty comment about her attire, and a sweet young girl who was a First Year who was buying a chocolate frog defended her and said Viona looked quite pretty.
Viona looked over at the Second Year when he made his comment.
"I'm wearing the clothes that define me!" she said. "They are an extension of me inner-self and individualistic personality." She then added a sharp nod. She didn't want to start a row with the boy, but she wasn't going to tolerate ill-spoken comments either. She and her family were eccentric, but the Zephyrs were fighters too.
She then turned and smiled at the First Year who complimented her attire. The girl was positively lovely, and Viona knew they would be fast friends.
"I thank ye, little lass," she said. "Want a Pixie Wish? I recommend the blue ones. Me name's Viona Zephyr. Perhaps you've heard of me father's shop in Diagon Alley, the Bonfire Bakery. Best bagels and biscuits in all of London they say." The girl took one, but saved it for later as she was set on opening her chocolate frog. Viona's eyes widened as she saw who the girl got on her card, an image of the Boy Who Lived, the Savior of Hogwarts. "You got one of the new Harry Potters! Did you know the same year he began attending Hogwarts, Margo Mindlepop wrote Dilly and the Dragon's Den? It was me favorite book when I was a kid. I have Mindlepop's entire Dilly collection, but Dragon's Den was always me favorite."
She then looked over at the Slytherin boy, already forgetting his nasty comment. She didn't believe in holding a grudge unless the grudge was worth holding.
"Want a Pixie Wish?" she asked.
