Sage was born just outside of Sydney, Australia to a witch and wizard who were from old magical families. The Devenpeck side of his family came to Australia after the first settlements started. His mother's side of the family came to Australia almost a hundred years later. His father's side was originally from the Netherlands and his mother's side originally from England. Sage was raised on the coast and was going to be a water baby his entire life. David, Sage's father, worked with the international cooperation part of the Australian Ministry of Magic. Lena, Sage's mother, was a stay at home mother who hand raised their son with a silver spoon in his mouth. They were extremely wealthy from the wizarding world in Australia. Her family had owned a very popular apothecary in Sydney that they ended up selling and Lena got nearly all the money from it. They were really set for life between that and his father's job.
Sage grew up with a love for the ocean. It fascinated him and he always wanted to do new things when it came to the ocean. When he was old enough he begged his parents to try the muggle sport of surfing after watching it numerous times at the ocean. They couldn't say no to him, he'd always gotten what he wanted so he knew exactly how to beg for what he wanted. Luckily he didn't need to do that this time. They bought him a board with the strange muggle money and had let him learn to surf. In the years that he's been doing it now he believes he's pretty good. That and considering he's a wizard he believes that he's really good at it all. This is one of his secret hobbies because his family has always prided themselves on their purity.
When Sage was nine years old his father got a job reassignment. He was going to be relocated to the United Kingdom to work with the British Ministry of Magic on behalf of the Australian Ministry. They were to move a month from the news to a small town outside of London. They pretty much had to drag Sage kicking and screaming out of his native Australia. When they got to the UK he didn't speak to anyone for at least a month. His father worked often and Sage knew that he wasn't going back to Australia in time for his wizarding education which meant that he was to learn it here in the UK. They were going to send him to Hogwarts. All of his friends went off to the Australian wizarding school but Sage had to go to a British one. He didn't even know any of these British kids.
The next two years before he went off to Hogwarts were spent actually doing his lessons. They occasionally went to parties for the whole international wizarding thing with his father. They were the happy family from Australia. The few people that he met seemed to enjoy hearing the way he talked as if it was funny or something. Sure he did have that strong Australian accent but it wasn't strange in fact all these other people were strange. And who asks a kid to speak for your pleasure anyways? Sage couldn't stand stuff like that.
When the young boy turned eleven they went and bought him all his clothes and his first wand for Hogwarts. They also got him a pet of his choice. He chose to get a black and grey tabby cat that he named Nutmeg. She was a pretty little cat and a loveable one. That day was pretty cool. He was still disappointed that he couldn't get his stuff in Australia and go to school their. Then again he had to meet someone here, he could find new friends.
Upon arrival at Hogwarts his name was called and he was sorted off into Slytherin. He heard that was a good house to be in for someone like him. Hogwarts was an interesting school. He decided that he could suffer through this fairly well. He did fairly well at his studies but he missed being in a place where he could do what he wanted when he wanted to. Sage did well through his years. He didn't focus on much past there. He joined a few clubs through years, dropped a few clubs. He did well on his N.E.W.T.s but didn't pass all with flying colors. He focuses on relationships rather than school work but does a good job with what's needed. And now in his sixth year he's ready to get on with his life. His plan the moment he graduates is to move back down to Australia. He believes that'll be a better place for him in the end.
Now is the time for him to make a career choice and decide what's best. He's just can't wait for that moment he turns seventeen and can begin actually living his adult life. Until that day he's stuck in this school, in this country that he never wanted to be in in the first place. The really question is is can he find someone to make him happy enough to stay, happy enough to be here and not down in Australia.
