He spoke, and she smiled, knowing the analogy had gone straight over his head. "I do" she said after a few seconds. "But its nice knowing there's someone somewhere inside, worrying unnecessarily about whether I make it back or not." It was part gratitude, part teasing, part tenderness, and all Ally in the expression and tone of voice. She caught his blush when she touched his tie, and she couldn't resist. Running her fingers over it one more time, she looked up into his eyes, her own intense as she moved slightly closer, flirting with the idea of actually kissing him but for the moment merely giving the impression she might. But then, the look was gone in a flash and she released the tie and took a step back. "It really is a nice tie" she told him softly, a completely serious look, though she watched him closely to see how he reacted to her teasing.
She shrugged, a quick but smooth movement of one shoulder. "Maybe" she acknowledged, but it didn't mean she couldn't poke at him about dancing. She gave him a very carefully contrived innocent look. "Are you suggesting that I'm goading you?" she widened her eyes at him a moment before the expression melted like a mask left too close to the fire and she smirked, giving him a mischievous look. "Did it work?" she asked him hopefully. See through her? She huffed on the inside, but let it go on the grounds it was probably true, everybody had a weak point in their armor. Her father had her mother. She had Aiden. That thought, for a moment, brought her up short. It was the first time she'd thought about it quite like that. His ability to go with the flow, however, when it came to her silliness was flawless, and she adored him for it. Still bent into her dramatic fluorish of a curtsy, she looked up at him from under her lashes and smiled, the kind that meant there was something brewiing just below the surface. "You are much too kind, monsieur." Straightening, she grinned up at him. "Are you having fun?" because she was, and it was only fair really.
She barely heard the strangled-sound of her name as it dropped from his lips before it was lost in the powerful impulse she'd given temporary control. She felt him freeze, and it briefly occurred to her he might not have wanted this, but then she thought of the eyes in their pictures, all the times she'd seen him blush and the doubts passed, quickly. When she pulled back, the expression on his face told her everything she ever might have wanted to know. She had expected it really. What she hadn't planned for was what came next. He grabbed her arm, and she looked up at him, less concerned than confused as he tugged her over and away from the dance floor into a more secluded place. If he had been anyone else, she'd have had little doubt what he was going to do, but this was Aiden, and Aiden didn't...
Her thoughts were interrupted when they reached his destination and he swung her around. She looked startled. He wasn't the type to...was he? Her eyes widened when he spoke. "I..." he seemed irritated, but then his words were at odds with his tone. Keeping something from her? She rolled that over for a fraction of a second, and it was then that she realized this ran much deeper for him than she might have thought. She hadn't brought him to any realization he hadn't already known. It was a powerful thought, and her last coherent one before she was pressed against the wall, feeling his body against hers as his lips descended. What he lacked of expertise he made up in desire. Desire for her, she realized, feeling it go through her like a shockwave. Suddenly, it all made sense. Aiden. She'd been so sure he wasn't interested in anyone, that it just wasn't in his nature. He had been though, but unlike Cameron and half a dozen others she'd known, he had been patient enough to wait until she figured it out. He had waited for her...
She reached up, wove her arms around his neck, pulled him even closer and threw herself into it. Her lips moved against his even as her thoughts began to fragment and drift apart into nothing. She was, in these few moments, completely absorbed in wanting him to understand that she finally got it. What's more, that she would make it worth it, more than that, she would make it worthwhile.
