Lorcan was actually kind of shocked that he was going to the ball with Rosalie. Maybe after everything had happened he just didn't think that they were going to be okay. He'd been tempted to nearly screw up what they did have left a couple of times maybe then she'd stop blaming herself all the time. He was glad that he didn't mess anything up. Well maybe it was his fault that they were even in this predicament in the first place. It was his large mouth that had blabbed everything out into the open. His mouth tended to get him into trouble more often than it kept him out of it.
The elder Scamander twin grabbed a soft grey button up shirt that he honestly wasn't sure where he'd gotten it from and buttoned it up. A collared shirt just looked strange on him but he was sure that Rosalie would not want him to go to the ball in a t-shirt and cargo pants. The type of pants he honestly preferred. Why would he want to dress up when he could just be comfortable. The one reason was probably sitting downstairs in the Hufflepuff Basement do the exact same thing as he was. His eyes looked up in the mirror as he adjusted the collar. Careful hands that were not common to Lorcan folded each side of his collar down. He was actually nervous. Lorcan didn't get nervous very often and there was a good reason for it, he hated the feeling of being nervous. It was like being sick, who could enjoy such a feeling? Lorcan's blue eyes scanned each crease in the shirt. It wasn't like it was ironed or anything, but naturally he didn't care that much about it. He unbuttoned the cuffs of the shirt because they were too enclosing on his arms.
Soon a black vest went over the grey shirt and he slid on some black pants before putting on some sneakers. There was no way that anyone was going to catch him in dress shoes. He had exactly one pair and that one pair was pushed off into the very back of his closet back home and he hoped it would never see the light of day again. He buttoned the vest carefully before finishing up and heading down. It was a good half hour now that the ball had been started and going. To say that Lorcan was being himself would be the truth. He left the Ravenclaw tower and carefully took steps down the stairs all the way down. At least the ball was outside, he could escape if he needed to.
Lorcan had smiled softly as he reached outside. He saw the tent and he waited carefully outside for Rosalie. He told her that when he'd make it down he'd be outside. He was sure that she was already here. She always was already where he wanted to meet. Maybe he wasn't the greatest boyfriend there was. He didn't even know how to be on time to a dance. Lorcan had been guessing himself more often now since Rome than he ever thought he would. This was something that he kept quite hidden though. He couldn't show anyone else that he didn't completely trust himself anymore. Lorcan had always known who he was and what he was here for until now.

It was almost like she had been running around with her head cut off. One minute, she was trying to get her hair to twist in one direction, the other one she was trying to slide on her dress. If she were to be a hundred percent honest, she was a little uncomfortable with the amount of skin that she was showing. It wasn’t that she hated her dress – she didn’t – it was just that, well, Caesar was at the school still. She worried that he would find her and tell her mum what she had been wearing. The black, lacey dress managed to hide her important body parts, but it left her back exposed and her arms were barely covered. And, if her arms had been barely covered, it was only the lacey slip that kept her legs from being exposed. Her heels might have made her a slight taller than he was, but chances were that Rosalie would kick them off after the first or second dance.
She had been considering leaving her hair down. She had looked at it over and over again before she had caved in and rolled it around. Eventually, she had caved in and had one of her housemates braid it back for her while she slipped into her shoes. Once it had done, she smiled at her greatly and tried to go up the stairs as fast as possible. The hells were a little hard to maneuver in the tight dress, but she was sure that as soon as Lorcan saw her his jaw was going to drop. He hadn’t seen her dress – definitely hadn’t seen her in her dress. She had been aiming to go for the ‘wow’ factor. She reached the main floor and glanced around, being unable to find him in the Entrance hall. With a nod, she assumed that he had gone off to the tent without her. It was fine – she was still sure that she would be able to find him. If she could find him on that crowded train, she determined that it wouldn’t be too difficult to find him in the tent.
She smiled at some of the people who waved at her, eyes scanning over them to look for the right guy. Perhaps it had been that she had arrived first? It wasn’t as if it would have been a first. There had only been one time in their relationship that she could remember being the second one to arrive. Chewing on the bottom of her lip, she wandered around the tent with her purse a little tight against her. There were so many people dancing and talking. It wasn’t too loud, but it was loud enough that calling out his name probably wasn’t going to help. It wasn’t until she had decided to head back to the front flaps of the tent that she noticed he had been coming in. In her effort to head back towards him, she grinned at Thalia and Wallace, Andrea and…had that been Vincent Powell? It had to be; he wasn’t mistakable. Not only had she known Andrea since…well, childhood…but she also knew Vincent since her first year.
Still, she resolved to but her friend at a later time and focus on Lorcan. She rushed through him, hand extending and grabbing onto his the moment he came into close content. “Look at you, looking so spiffy and like you actually cared for a little bit.” She didn’t even mind that he was in sneakers. It would make it all the more comfortable, later, when she kicked off her shoes. At least she could encourage him to do the same if that were the case. “Like what you see?”

Lorcan looked around the area for Rosalie hoping that she would be here soon. There was no way that he could be early to the ball, or at least not earlier than Rosalie. It'd only happened once before, how could he be expected to be early any time after that? If it so happened then it happened but it was nothing that he attempted to do. Maybe he should have tried more often. Maybe then Rosalie would end up choosing him over Caesar in the end. Maybe Caesar would find a way to mess it all up as well. At least he still had Rosalie by his side even for the time being.
Out of habit he glanced down at his wrist hoping there would be something to tell him the time. Should he go inside the tent and look for his girlfriend? Maybe it'd be better to just stay here where he said he'd be. If he did go in there was a chance they could spend the night looking for each other and not enjoying it at all.
Soon enough though his eyes fell onto the girl of his dreams. She rushed over to him and her hand grabbed onto his. ”Look at you, looking so spiffy and like you actually cared for a little bit.” He couldn't even answer. That dress she was wearing had him in shock. The lace that showed nearly all of her skin with the exception of the solid that covered her chest down to her thighs. Everything else though was absolutely amazing. In fact his jaw may have dropped down in reaction to seeing her.
”Like what you see?” All Lorcan could do as he still eyed her up and down was nodded his head but soon enough he snapped himself out and wrapped his arms around her only to find the back was non-existent. A grin came to his face and he kissed her cheek. ”You look absolutely stunning, and it's not that I don't care, it's just that I have a different level of what looks good than most people,” he said with a smile, ”absolutely stunning though.” A grin came to his face before he chuckled. ”Did I mention how stunning you look?” he asked. Another kiss came to her cheek before giving her a kiss on the lips and keeping hold of her.

He could butter her up all night if he wanted to. At least she knew that she had gotten the exact reaction that she had wanted. There was something…extremely liberating about being able to wear whatever she wanted with little consequence. It wasn’t as if she was out there exposing everything about herself. There were other people who were doing that sort of thing. She had seen them. Still, this had had to take the price for one of the most outrageous outfits she had ever worn; ever. If she had stopped to speak to Andrea and Vincent, she was certain that she would have made Flint have much of the same reaction that Lorcan had had. The dropped jaw had made her giggle. She didn’t think that she had looked too different, but perhaps she had been wrong. Unfortunately for her, Rosalie had never been the tannest girl out there. She wasn’t pale from just staying inside. After all, she was in the CoMC club with some of the other students. Perhaps they didn’t meet as often as some of the other clubs, but they were still outside for a reasonable amount of time.
It meant that the eldest Harper got to be out in the sun and tan a little. Except, in her case, it wasn’t really tanning. It was more like burning in the sun and having to use a cream that kept her looking like a horribly cooked lobster. She beamed brightly and leaned into his hug, shivering a little at how cold his hands felt against her back. Perhaps she should have considered some sort of jacket. She hadn’t realized how cold she was probably going to get. Yes, the tent might have been warm, but the dress was still…thin enough that she knew she was going to be freezing later on. Oh well, it meant that she’d have to snuggle up to her very adorable looking boyfriend and try to keep warm that way. Did she feel guilty for it? Exponentially, but she wanted to make a couple more happy moments before everything went wrong. She was very much aware that she wasn’t going to be able to break out of the engagement to Caesar. Not if she wanted to lose her family. She was certain that Edward wouldn’t abandon her. He was just an amazing brother like that, but it was everyone else that worried her.
“That’s true.” She conceded, reaching to caress his cheek with a giggle. “It’s not their fault that they have a different level, Lorcan. Not everyone can keep up with your striking good looks. They just can’t compete.” The best part was that she was speaking the truth. As unfortunate as it seemed, there just weren’t a lot of people that were as profoundly handsome as her boyfriend was. She was pretty lucky to be on his arm tonight, actually. “Yes, you did.” She chastised him a little, trying not to let her cheeks get too rosy. It would only give him the motivation to tease her, and she didn’t have much to tease him back with. “I could hear you say it time and time again, or we could dance. Or I can tell you how pretty you look.”
