Even with all the recent chaos, the Ministry's Christmas Party was a tradition that was to be upheld. Draco wasn't overly excited about it given all on his mind, but as Minister he was obliged to attend. At least there would be some interesting folk to talk to throughout the evening, and perhaps idle chat would distract him from business. Standing on the stage of the Ministry's lavish party room, Draco addressed the guests: "Welcome one and all to the Ministry's Annual Christmas Celebration, a celebration that has been conducted for centuries, and since some here have heard the same pre-celebration speech over and over again and are probably as weary of it as I am, I'll keep it simple. Tonight is a night to forget our troubles and bask in the unity among us that has made our Ministry the strongest it has ever been. Enjoy tonight, my friends, and Happy Christmas."He raised his glass to all before taking a sip of his champagne and blending in among his co-workers in the Ministry of Magic, hoping the night would indeed be happy. Post by ALLEN PETER CLARKE on May 20, 2014 12:48:57 GMT -5
For years, Allen had been a ministry employee, and attended the Christmas party every year, at the beck of his deceased wife who always encouraged the more introverted man to socialize with his co-workers in a non-office setting. Even in the years following her leaving this world, Clarke still came to the festivities and often stayed later due to an absence of his children's visits. This was because a number of them had taken paths which they believed he didn't approve of, and several were correct, but that didn't mean he loved them any less.
So now, at the party itself, Allen stood near one of the walls, taking sips of eggnog between co-workers greeting him as they walked by. At this point in the party, the old man's face was flushing a slight amount as he was becoming slightly more tipsy with the more eggnog he'd been drinking. Of course, as some of the nameless faces left after expecting the old man to know their names, he promptly gave an impatient "harumph" from under his moustache as he grew frustrated with these folks. After so many decades of working at the ministry, one would think that people would stop expecting someone to know every face that came in and out of those fireplaces every day, as there were simply too many too recall them all at any one time.

(Will bring Cavalyn in after someone posts after Fleur) Fleur was dressed in a beautiful black evening gown at the event. Like many others at the Ministry, she was quite used to these parties and was present more out of tradition than anything. At least the Minister didn't do some long-winded speech. She was happy for that. Walking about, she took a glass of champagne from a passing waiter, thanked him, and sipped it. She saw several she knew and briefly chatted with them. Seeing Cain in the distance she toasted him and smiled. She then spotted Allen Clarke and beamed. She knew the old man well from the Ministry and the Order, but she hadn't had the chance to speak to him in a while. Stepping over she grinned at the fellow, who didn't seem so happy himself. She hoped to cheer him up a bit. "Bonjour, Allen," she said. "It's wonderful to see you again." She the drew in. "Seems like you're enjoying this party about as much as I am. You'd think they would at least change things up every few years." Fleur was still smiling. She was not upset herself. She just wanted a smile from her friend. ALLEN PETER CLARKE

Cav had a lot of reasons to celebrate this year. Her family and friends of course, then there was her budding relationship with her best friend turned boyfriend, Jens. And finally there was her making full Auror. Her dream had come true, and Cav couldn't be happier.
Clad in a beautiful black dress, she walked about the party greeting several until she found herself with Cain and Soren. She knew Soren of course. He was an Auror as well. And she knew Cain from a strong friendship the two had developed, and of course working together with him on a few occasions.
"Happy Christmas, Cain! Happy Christmas, Soren!" she said. "Are you both enjoying the party? I just found out there were serving black cherry tarts, but I'm still trying to find the buffet in this crowd." She giggled a bit at that. Even at a boring, traditional party like the one at the Ministry, Cav could have a lot of fun. That was her personality after all.

Blaise had never been the fondest of these ministry parties, they were little more than a show. It wasn't that Blaise didn't like parties, no he had always enjoyed the gatherings with Draco's, Theo's, and his own families. But actually coming to the ministry party and forcing interactions with so many who he held himself above, well it was tiring for Blaise. Never the less he had dressed sharply as ever and wore his ever smug smirk on his lips as he looked around at all the faces. There were plenty of people who Blaise knew, but there was one individual who was Blaise's intended target. When the speech came to a close Blaise clapped along with this peers before making his way through the masses to the Minister of Magic, though to him he was still Draco. "Cheers." Blaise said as he raised his glass to his old friend before taking a sip. "I must say, I had expected you to go on for the better part of an hour if only to try and make me suffer." Blaise wasn't the sort to joke often, at least not with most, but this was Draco. Blaise looked away from Draco to look about the room for a moment, Pansy was around somewhere, not that he worried his wife knew how to handle herself at events such as these. As his gaze came back to his old friend Blaise smiled ever so slightly, "Happy Christmas, my friend." It had been a long year for Draco, with the impending war and of course Scorpius, but Blaise hoped his friend could find some time to relax this holiday. words: 275 tag: @dracomalfoy @others ooc:

Draco knew Blaise wasn't the fondest of these parties, but he was happy to see his friend there. He couldn't wait for the Malfoy/Nott/Zabini Party. Despite however he felt that night, Draco always had a wonderful time at that particular party.
Draco toasted Blaise and smiled a little when his friend spoke of feeling Draco would go on for a while with the party speech.
"Merlin knows they've heard enough long-winded speeches from me as of late," he said. "Perhaps with Headmistress McGonagall now safe, we can all relax a bit... at least until all hell breaks loose again."
Draco then smiled and nodded to Blaise.
"Happy Christmas to you as well, my friend," he said. He then removed a small, wrapped box from his jacket. "I was going to give you this at the party at Malfoy Manor, but I don't see why I can't now. I know you've had your eye on it for quite some time."
(You can decide what the gift is)

Cav beamed at Cain's friendly response. Friendship-wise, she had grown very close to him in the past while. She knew even if she just spent time with him at the party, she would have a lovely time. Sitting down near him, she sipped her punch. She had of course picked the non-alcoholic variety as usual.
"I'm doing well," she said. "it's been kind of quiet since the rescue, hasn't it? Sadly, from my experience, that means that creepy woman is plotting something new. I guess given what you've been through yourself, you would probably agree."
Cav then perked up a little.
"Oh by the way, I rented this lovely meeting hall near where I live for a Christmas Eve Party," she said. "I sent you an owl with the invitation and all the information. I wasn't sure if you had gotten it yet. It will definitely be a lot smaller than this party, but I think it will be a lot of fun. We'll have a nice dinner and games and everything."

Post by MADISON LEANN ENTWHISTLE on Jun 2, 2014 13:02:06 GMT -5
It had been three months since she had gotten attacked. It took her a while to get better but she was getting there. She could now walk without limping. She would soon be able to get back to work. She was now working at a desk, basically studying, learning how to do all that things. She couldn't wait till she was able to go to the auror camp herself to finish her auror training. She had been getting better from the attack so she wasn't able to go and finish so she could be put on patrol anywhere. She had thought often about if she hadn't taken the side trip that it would have never happened, but then she thought that it might have happened to someone else if it wasn't her and that she wasn't happy about. She couldn't wait to get to work and find these Black Army people. She dressed for the Christmas party at the Ministry. She couldn't wait to hang out with her fellow coworkers. She had planned on meeting Thomas there if he went. He had been so busy that she hardly got to see him lately. It took her a couple of hours to fix her hair. Finally after looking at herself in the mirror for a final time she left for the Ministry. She walked in and noticed some people look at her and wave. She smiled and waved back and walked further into the party. She wondered where she would look for Thomas first. She would of course talk to others while she looked for Thomas. She made herself a cup of something to drink. She took a sip of her drink as she started scanning the room for Thomas. Words: ??? OCC: Yay Madison is back in the game. Outfit: CLICKTagged: @nate

It was yet another party in the Ministry, where all the important and not so important workers could gather up and have some fun for at least an evening. Nathaniel had to say, these past few weeks had been intense, ever since the attack. Of course it was intense, especially for the aurors. The Black Army had to be stopped; they need to put an end to all the madness. But what could one auror-in-training possibly do to stop it? He still had to finish his auror training, and oh how he couldn’t wait to actually go out there and find those Black Army people, oh how he couldn’t wait to arrest them, after everything that they had done.
Of course becoming an auror wasn’t easy, but he had to admit that he was doing pretty well with everything. Becoming and auror had been his dream since childhood, and the need to become an auror increased after his father’s death. There hadn’t been a day when he didn’t think about his father. It felt as if he had received the news of his death only yesterday, although many years had already passed since his father’s death.
Standing just next to the entrance of the hall, Nathaniel had already made himself a drink. His left hand was holding a glass of whiskey, while the other hand waved at his coworkers. He had been one the first to arrive at the event, and it was quite unusual to see the whole ministry gather in one room. Well, not every day you see the minister and other important staff relaxing and simply enjoying the evening.
His blue eyes followed every witch and wizard that had already gathered into the room, he greeted some by-passers. As he turned around, he spotted a familiar face and it seemed as if she was looking for someone. Madison, another auror-in-training, former Hufflepuff. He had known Madison since he was studying in Hogwarts, and had made quite good friends with her. With the glass of whiskey in his hands, Nathaniel made his way to the center of the room, greeting some workers on the way. “Looking for someone?” His light eyes remained focused on Madison, taking another sip from the glass. i see a bad moon rising

McGonagall rescue had been seen as a ministry success but Blaise was not sure he shared this view. Something blew with the winds, the calm before the storm. Some thought this was going to bring about the end, but if you asked Blaise this was just the start, the real start. Perhaps the two men could talk for hours about their theories on what their world was about to face but this was hardly the time or place for such conversations. After all this was meant to be a celebration. "Minerva's rescue, no doubt, has helped boost moral." A small taste of victory to wet the palette but would it be enough to win a war? Blaise had his doubts. But he held his face with a faint smile, he had years of practice at keep his innermost thoughts to himself. Blaise was a little caught off guard when Draco presented him with a wrapped box. "It seems you and I still think a like." He said as he drew up one corner of his mouth into a rather pleased smirk. Reaching into his own jacket Blaise pulled out a box wrapped in silver paper and exchanged it with Draco. "Of course you can expect the usual bottle of scotch when we gather with our families, I don't think Theo would be too pleased if I seemingly forgot it." By now it was hardly a surprise gift, or even a gift really as it was more of a tradition for their gatherings. Curious Blaise gave the box a small shake, he had some ideas about what it could be but to be fair there were many things the man had his eye on. Blaise was after all a collector of all things exquisite, he was his mother's son. Finishing his drink Blaise passes his glass off to the nearest waiter that was walking around before delicately unwrapping the gift. Lifting the lid Blaise found himself looking at an extravagant set of cuff links. The green gemstones glistening in the light, yes Blaise had been eyeing this set for some time. Pansy had not seen why he might need yet another set of cuff links, but a well dressed man could never have too many, Draco seemed to understand this. "My, my," he said picking one of them up between two fingers to get a better look at them, "these are quite extraordinary Draco, thank you." words: 405 tag: @dracomalfoy @others ooc: likewise, for deciding what the gift is.

Draco nodded about the Headmistress' rescue boosting moral. He then looked over to see various Ministry officials who were also members of the Order of the Phoenix.
"It not only boosts moral, but gives the Ministry a good name in the eyes of the people again," he said. "I know the Order of the Phoenix is eager to become more involved and I still feel for them to do so will cause panic among the masses. Perhaps the rescue will also calm them down a bit."
Draco smirked a bit about the scotch.
"And the last person we want mad at us is Theodore Nott," he said. "The man almost never lets a grudge go... or so I'm told."
Draco smiled as Blaise liked the cuff links he gave him, then opened his own gift. It was a pocketwatch with the Slytherin crest on it. Even though Draco was not proud of many things he had done in his youth, he would always be proud of his House, and his best friend obviously knew that.
"A fine gift and one I will hold close," he said. "Thank you, my friend." He gave Blaise a firm pat on the arm before taking his glass and raising it. "A toast to friendship and a bright future." He couldn't help but think of Scorpius and Rose then.

Cav frowned a bit when Cain said he hadn't gotten it yet, but was relieved when she found out why. Otherwise, she would have been going bonkers making sure the owls were properly sent out to everyone. A Christmas Party was no fun when the people you wanted there had no clue there was a party going on.
"Wonderful!" she said when Cain said he would be there. "And you don't have to bring anything. I hired a caterer from a lovely fish and chips place. Well they serve more than just fish and chips there." She chuckled. "Anyway, I'm sure you'll like the selection."
Cav then looked around for a moment and watched other people conversing. She spotted the Minister and her best friend and whispered to Cain.
"I wonder what they're talking about?" She then looked at the small opening under the table by Draco and Blaise... small enough for a certain raven and mongoose to hide under. "Want to go find out?"

Cav knew Cain would agree. He was a terrific Hit Wizard, but she knew by now that he had a keen and playful mischievous side to him as she did. With a giggle, she motioned for him to follow her to a somewhat hidden spot where they could transform.
"Ready?" she whispered, giggling again. "Oh I can't wait to see what we find out." She then changed into her mongoose form and made her way through the crowd, somehow not getting stepped on before she reached the table. Hiding underneath, she sat and listened away. For the moment, they were going about some fancy Christmas party they held along with the famous Nott Family. Cav began to wonder if this would really be worth the trouble. She had nothing against other people having personal Christmas parties of course, but she wasn't really interested in hearing about one she wasn't invited to.

Emil had just returned home from his continental journey around Europe. The fatigue did not hit him until he was back, trying to recall the feel of home and wind down after everything he had encountered across the borders – a mind-boggling number of conferences, debates and speeches which he had to make regarding the movements of the Dark Lady. “Out of all the countries in the whole world, of course she has to attack Britain first,” he thought, cursing the improbability of the witch.
Exhausted, Emil disliked having to Disapparate to the Ministry Party – although he really loved to interact with his colleagues and of course, Draco would be there as well – but time was running out and he was late. Not that he would risk being splinched while Apparating, he was simply not fond of the experience and the tightened feeling. Emil decided to rest for a few moments before Apparating, closing his eyes on his couch.
A long moment later, he woke up cursing furiously, “Bloody couch! Xoán, you’re supposed to lick me up, you blessed mutt!” Xoán looked at Emil, giving a confused look he always had whenever Emil got anxious. Emil hurriedly Metamorphed into a more presentable figure – suited up and intentionally, nearly clean-shaven.
He arrived at the party much later than intended; having seen some Aurors, few Hit-Wizards and other Ministers already chatting to one another. Emil searched around for Draco; but suddenly spotted something rather unusual happening in an old-fashioned, almost boring party – a raven dashing elusively underneath tables… Eventually taking a halt beneath a table by Draco and Blaise, the Head of ICW, “Ah! Cain… What’s he up to, my dear chap!” he thought to himself, amused at the behaviour of the generally-thoughtful Hit-Wizard.
Strolling casually over to Draco and Blaise, Emil announced to the gentlemen, “Pardon my lateness, my good fellows! I’ve got caught up in some… Raven business, you see, could not keep Xoán away from him, I’m afraid to say, that mutt,” hoping Cain heard him. In a lowered tone, Emil smiled to his friends, “Anyhow, how have you gentlemen been? Not too stressed with this whole stuff, I hope.”
