Matthew had been raised to be a farm boy but one thing he'd never quite gotten used to was actually working with the animals. It'd never been his favorite thing but sometimes he tried. Maybe it was more for his father's sake than anything else but he'd try. He'd try to make all better instead of just being all about his work. Matthew had become a lawyer for the Ministry when he left school. He learned about the laws throughout the magical world so he could help whoever needed it. Most of the time it was simple, someone was upset at someone else for disruption or something, other times, well other times Matthew could be the most hated person in the magical world for trying to help someone out of something that even he was sure was not possible, things like killing someone. The magical world had their own way of handling lawbreakers but Matthew had learned a few things from the muggle world on how to make his job a bit easier.
But today Matthew was away from the Ministry and had taken a break from working on his own house to spend some time out on the family farm. He was there to help out with all that he could. This meant actually helping out with the animals. Hippogriffs were most of the focus of the farm and working with them had always been daunting to Matthew. In the end he didn't do the whole work before approaching with one of them by accident and when he went to help get it to another area of the farm, he had ended up flat on his arse with a rather large cut in his arm and across his leg. The only problem was he was having a hard time getting it to stop bleeding, normally not a problem. So carefully Matthew had a farm hand help him wrap it up and make sure it was properly tight before he apparated himself to St. Mungo's. He was sure he wouldn't be there too long in the end though, just getting a Hippogriff snag taken care of couldn't be too hard.
He check himself in and found himself waiting to be helped by a doctor or even a nurse. It really just needed to be cleaned out and probably have some stuff applied to it or some weird spell would make it all fixed up. Nice thing about healers were that they could get what Matthew couldn't. He would never claim to know more than one of these brilliant minds here in the hospital.

Bites, scratches, burns, and even full ligaments dangling from their former attachment were the center of St. Mungo's in the creature induced section. People just didn't understand the dangers of the creatures they came into contact with. Most were not cute animals that one could keep as a pet. It frustrated Lawson that some took so little care, however, he knew that some incidents came about due to accidents and even with particular planning. Even with all the blood he witnesses and cleaned up, Lawson enjoyed his job. Gaining more knowledge of creatures was always fascinating but the most important part of his day was taking care of his patients. The gratitude most felt from being relieved of pain continually made his day go by with ease. Just knowing he was helping someone rather than beating them at something had Lawson happy with his career of choice. Things might have turned out differently if he hadn't learned an important lesson in the infirmary at Hogwarts.
"Lawson take this file. You are assigned to room #119." Lawson was ordered as he passed by the front desk. His break had just ended and instantly he was thrust back into the sporadic nature of his job. "Yes'ma." He said as he grabbed the file and flipping it open. "Let's see what we have here." He mused as he glanced down the patient's file. It stated that a Mr. Blenkinsop was here due to a gash on his arm and leg inflicted by a hippogriff. Lawsom knew this wouldn't be too much of a task, hippogriff scratches were easy to handle and more common than people assumed. The hippogriff was a beautiful animal to Lawson. a curious mixture of multiple creatures to form such an amazing animal. They were regal and proud which Lawson respected. Many people had run into problems when dealing with such a creature, most didn't give them the proper regard or patience.
Closing the file and placing it in his left hand Lawson strode out the to the waiting room. He gazed over the many people waiting to be seen. He felt bad that no matter how quick and efficient they seemed to be there were always people waiting and suffering for the next available nurse or doctor. He tried to guess which person was his patient but to no avail. "Mr. Blenkinsop?" He said or rather asked. His eyes shifted left and right waiting for a sign of movement or recognition by the owner of the name. Once the man acknowledged his name had been called Lawson would lead them to the exam room so he could take a closer look at the identified wound.

Matthew wasn't an animal person, he just wasn't, or maybe it was that he wasn't a hippogriff person, either way he still knew what he needed to do to respect the creature and one time he slipped up and it ended up with this. A normal scratch that wasn't exactly normal. When you couldn't get something to stop bleeding you typically went to see a healer because they could help and his luck with healing spells and potions had never been all that good. There was a reason he worked in the law office at the Ministry instead of doing other things.
As he patiently waited for the healer to come and get him he eyed around the room. Creature induced had always seemed busy to him. Since he grew up working with hippogriffs he'd been here a couple of times for cuts and things from just working around the farm. His brother, Jacob, was better built for this work than he was, he trusted his brother to do this stuff instead. And this was the last time he took some time off to help with that type of work on the family farm. If his father needed a fence repaired, that'd be fine but he wasn't working with the creatures any longer. Heck, even his own home he rented out his field to a muggle farmer so he wouldn't have to worry about putting something on it to care for the grass.
Soon enough his name was a called by a rather young, and handsome, nurse and he went to get up to a start of no avail. He grumbled a little bit before he was able to get himself out of the chair. ”Sorry to make you wait,” he apologized, ”shall we get this over with?” he asked. It wasn't that he was in a hurry or anything, but after the many times before it got tiring to have so many cuts across his body. He could probably count about twenty or so scars from the creatures around his father's property that he'd gotten over the years. Some were large, those were caused by the hippogriffs, mostly. And some were small. This was just a process that Matthew was used to in the end.
He was led by the nurse to the exam room and he pulled off his shirt to make it easier to examine his arm and pulled up his pant leg to reveal the carefully wrapped wounds across his body. ”So normally I wouldn't be seeing a healer for this, but I can't get the damned things to stop bleeding, I dunno if it's too deep this time or what but both of them just seem like making me a little lightheaded today,” he told the younger male to give him a rundown on why he was here at St. Mungo's for something that felt so very simple.

A movement caught Lawson's eye and his gaze moved toward a man who seemed in rather good health. His ailments weren't really visible except for some bandage sticking out along the cuff of his shirtsleeve. It didn't become noticeable that Mr. Blekinsop was in slightly worse condition until his attempt at getting up failed him. He seemed to be struggling which only suggested to Lawson that perhaps the cut on his arm wasn't the only laceration. Poor guy. Lawson thought, as he so often did of most of his patients. Even though such things could be easily fixed in the wizarding world it didn't take away from the fact that they were serious matters and often involved pain. Watching Mr. Blekinsop try to rise again Lawson decided that if he could not make it to his feet this time he would rush over to help him. He also knew to be careful with the amount of help he issued people, especially guys and the elderly. They both had a tendency to have a high since of pride and would rather do things on their own than appear weak. So Lawson remained where he stood and waited to see if his patient would need his assistance.
An internal sigh was released by Lawson as Mr. Blekinsop found his feet, a possible conflict would be avoided, which put him at ease. He waited for his patient to make his way over to him, not really taking notice of the guy's look. Lawson had tried hard to train himself to sort of place a person's appearance in the background, mainly with the men, due to his sexual preference. He had not revealed to his friends or family or anyone for that matter who he was attracted to males and males only. Although people were more accepting of the ideal Lawson refused to deal with the mess he believed would come with his admission. When he got close to Lawson he apologized for making him wait. "No apologies needed, it is my job to wait, sir. Are you sure you can make it to the exam room. Not to mark your pride or anything but I did see you having a slightly difficult time standing up. I assume you have a cut on your leg as well as your arm." Lawson always tried to talk in a professional manner unless it was someone he knew well or had come to know due to frequent visits to St. Mungo's.
Lawson led Mr. Blekinsop to exam room #119, the one his was assigned, and shut the door behind them. He laid the patient's file on the counter top which caused him to turn his back on him for a moment. When he turned around his usually visage faltered some. For the first time Lawson noticed how extremely handsome, almost gorgeous, Mr. Blekinsop was. His muscles were nicely toned and something else caught his eye that most might not find attractive. His skin glistened with scars of various different sizes. Perhaps it was the healer in him but Lawson wanted to attend to all the marks on his body even though they were healed and there was nothing more that could be done. It had been a hectic day and suddenly he became aware of his appearance. His hair was a mess, his tie skewed, and his collar only half turned down. He resist the urge to fix all of these problems and drew his attention to the patient's wounds. "Lets get you fixed up so you don't wind up fainting on me." He said with a light chuckle. "It could be that they are slightly deeper than ones you've had before, or even the fact that a semi-serious vein had be nicked." He suggested. "What sort of creature did this to you?" He asked even though he knew the answer from the file. Lawson just like to try and keep the conversation going in order to take the focus off the patient's problem. He walked over closer to Mr. Blenkinsop and paused before reaching out and unwrapping the bandages. "I would like to take a look at your arm first, may I?" He asked. Although it was obviously Lawson's job he didn't like to force himself on the patients, he rather them feel comfortable.

Matthew was fairly easy going and while he was a proud man he never would allow his pride to put him in harms way. But growing up on a farm he learned what his body was capable of and what it wasn't. If he was trying to do something that he wasn't capable of he wasn't too proud to ask for a hand. When he had made it up to the other male he heard him speak to him about his injuries to make sure he didn't need help. ”No apologies needed, it is my job to wait, sir. Are you sure you can make it to the exam room. Not to mark your pride or anything but I did see you having a slightly difficult time standing up. I assume you have a cut on your leg as well as your arm.” He shook his head. ”Not marking on my pride, but I'm okay, just a little sore, but yes you would be correct with your assumption, both my arm and leg,” he said with a slight smile. This wasn't terrible, just wasn't the best time of his life either.
He'd been led to the exam room where he'd taken off his shirt and he turned around to the nurse looking at his body. The scars luckily were mostly hidden by shirts as long as he wore proper fitting shirts. Being a lawyer and having a ton of scars may cause people to question certain things and your ability to do your job. But those scars represented something more, they represented where Matthew Blenkinsop was from.
”Lets get you fixed up so you don't wind up fainting on me.” He nodded in agreement with a chuckle. ”It could be that they are slightly deeper than ones you've had before, or even the fact that a semi-serious vein had been nicked.” ”It's possible, it's also been quite a few years since I last got hurt like this,” he told him, ”at least since before I left Hogwarts.” He was asked about the creature that did this to him as the other male went to undo the bandages. ”I was helping out on my father's farm, he raises Hippogriffs among other things, and I wasn't thinking when I went up to one of them to move them around, a couple scratches later here I am,” he told him, ”it was frankly me being quite idiotic for not properly paying attention,” he shook his head.
”I would like to see your arm first, may I?” Matthew nodded. ”I'm all yours, check whatever you need, it's quite important,” he told him. He was a pretty easy going person. He couldn't imagine not being that way. He learned from early on, going with the flow was probably the best thing he could do for himself.
