”Please sit down and join me so we can get know you.”
Colton looked at him and decided to take the seat. He didn't quite understand why someone wanted an interview with him. ”I swear if my brothers did anything I had nothing to do with it.”
”No, no we want to know about you not your brothers.”
The brown eyes scanned the interviewer for a moment before he decided to speak again. ”Alright, I'm Colton Vayle Lloyd. I am the youngest of six kids born on December seventeenth almost sixteen years ago. I am a fifth year Ravenclaw from a large family.” He knew there were more questions coming but he wasn't about to add anything snarky. It was easy just to get through this and go.
”So a large family? What is that like?”
”Strange, I feel a little different from my other brothers, and probably closest to my sister. I'm close to all my family, I mean we all are. My older brothers like to call me Angel because I tend to stay out of trouble, but I think it's that I'm rather skilled at hiding any of my pranks,” he chuckled a bit at his last words, ”Mum and Dad have done a good job with us at home even with the split two years ago. That wasn't particularly easy, especially given a choice of who to live with. In the end I chose to stay with Mum. I guess one could say I am a mother's boy. Marv is my oldest brother, he's already graduated from Hogwarts and then there's Dan who has also graduated. Then there's Lanchester who is quickly followed by Chaunce, they seem to get into quite the bit of trouble together. And then Lya, she's probably the smartest of us all, I think I share some of the over protective qualities that my brother's feel with her, she's my sister, even if I'm the baby.”
”You mentioned a split with your folks, how have you been holding up with what happened?”
”Honestly I don't know, I don't believe that I've handled it the greatest, it took it's toll with stress, Mums and Dads they're supposed to stay together, everyone else in the family got to enjoy them for a little bit longer than I had, and then to be forced to choose between them. I kind of drew into a bit of a depression at the time, buried myself into my books. I got a rat during that time actually, Xylon, she's a pretty cute little rat in my opinion. She likes to bury herself into my chest when I'm reading my books. So I guess I still have a hard time with it because I still get those periods in my life.”
”Sorry to hear that! Well do you have any hobbies?”
”Who doesn't have hobbies? I really enjoy a good fiction story when it comes to books. I promise though I'm not all boring. I also like to fly, I guess I don't just like it, I love it. I love being on a broomstick and would one day like to go professional into Quidditch. I'm a Ravenclaw Chaser but I'm not bad a Keeping either. It really gets my mind off of things in the present, because when I'm on a pitch it's like that's all that matters. I play like there's no tomorrow at all.”
”So professional Quidditch player? What if that doesn't happen?”
Colton thought for a good few minutes before answering. ”I honestly am not sure. There's a world of possibilities. I've always been interested in potions and magical creatures, both are viable options. I think if anything else, I'd probably try and open an apothecary or something, or I could even work in the potion poisoning level at St. Mungo's follow in Dad's footsteps of medical. I really mean it when I say there's a realm of possibilities. This is my fifth year so I can take my O.W.L.s and see where that takes me.”
”Wow! That's a lot of ambition. So now that we know quite a bit about you, I think our readers would like to hear about your history?”
History? How does someone explain history that they barely remember? ”Well I was born in Devon, enjoyed life as a toddler, or at least I think I did. We didn't have the wealthiest childhood, but who could with an eight person family? We found ways to entertain ourselves. I remember not really growing up with magic unless we needed it. We all knew about Mum being a witch but she was a muggleborn living in muggle society. We just tried to be your normal average family. I went to a muggle school growing up, and to say the least I prefer Hogwarts over those schools. Schoolwork wasn't easy and the food wasn't delicious like it is here. I don't really remember Marvin going off to Hogwarts, but I remember when Dan went off. I didn't get to go to platform 9 ¾ but it's not easy to transport so many kids that don't all need to go to Hogwarts.
“When it was my year to go to Hogwarts, well one could say I was excited. I got to ride the Hogwarts Express, heck I even got to see a bit of Hogsmeade for the first time. I was sorted into Ravenclaw, which I wanted to be in, either that or Hufflepuff in all honesty. I am glad it was Ravenclaw. I had made a few friends on the train and in the house. I was in the same house as Lya and Chaunce so I was pretty happy, at least I wouldn't be alone like I would have been if I was in Hufflepuff. I was more nervous than any other time that day, but I was glad that I was going to Hogwarts.
“I've really developed here at Hogwarts. Even with everything that's been going on, I still keep to my studies, maybe they've even helped my studies, and then of course I've taken after my brothers in the prank industry. Though I've learned not to use it. I like to joke around and play more with people. I tend to get excited over things that maybe people shouldn't always get excited about. And recently I've really liked the ladies, I mean sure I've always liked them, but I've really noticed it in the last three years. I also do this a lot, when I'm thinking I tend to ramble quite a bit, I think it's honestly just a nervous tick more than anything else. I tend to get nervous a bit around some people, no offense. I also have a cleaning tick. I try not to but it's kind of developed over the years, helps me calm down when things are going on in the family. God, I hate family stuff. I'd rather take the O.W.L.s a thousand times than hear more about family drama in the end.
“So yeah I hope that really explains me as a person. I mean a quick run down, I'm a nice guy who takes after my brothers but know how to do it in moderation. I'm a good kid, at least compared to my siblings, I feel like I'm gloating, I shouldn't do that. I have nervous ticks that sometimes lead to some obsessive compulsive ticks. I enjoy having a good time but not getting into trouble. So even in a run down I begin to ramble. So I guess I'll say goodbye now.” Colton got up with that word and didn't listen for another question as he left the room. A lot of people didn't seem in that way but he could have the nervous ticks. It was something he hid, which was why he was ready to get out of there as soon as possible.
