Some would call him a leader, other would call him a teacher but a great many knew him as the same as his patronus, A lion. Since he was just a very young boy he had always been strong and brave. He had always stood up to his challenges and fought on no matter what happened to him. He had a lot of heart and was more than strong willed. Skylar's mother was a muggle and his father was a wizard so the pair of them were more than excited when Skylar got his letter. They sent him off as quickly as he was allowed and always wrote and hoped for letters bursting with news of his accomplishments. Such things did happen but Skylar would only be allowed to write to his parents for a few short years. In his third year both of his parents were killed in a car accident. He had no family, not even a brother or a sister. So being the young boy he was, he felt alone in the world and though he had friends from school he never seemed to find comfort in them. He spent the following years at school buried in his studies and often times he would be looked at as a know it all. He was the type that would ace his tests and then some, It wasn't something he did to look good, it was just the fact that he threw himself into studying to bury away his thoughts. As he grew, his talents evolved a great deal as well. He seemed particularly fond of things like wandless magic and non-verbal magic. So as he advanced in his skills he took on everything he could to try and learn these things. He practiced his magic whenever he could. Often times his friends would find him down by a lake or up on a mountain, sometimes even in a cave. If there was a big game or a huge party, skylar wasnt there, he was studying, practicing. He wasn't one for the noise and the attention of parties. He spent his years as a student trying to avoid being popular and even more so, being noticed. It wasn't until his last year that he took to helping the younger students when he saw them struggling. He helped quite a few students study and prepare for tests, he even showed them the proper ways to use their wands, movements and such. He seemed to shine in this area, it seemed to bring a smile to his face. After he graduated he found himself being asked questions over and over and then eventually he found himself actually doing a bit of teaching in his free time. some fourth years were coming to him at first and asking him to show them a few things here and there, then some first years heard about him through the fourth years and then a few third years came along after that. It wasn't anything enormous or notable, at least not to skylar. By the time he had reached the age of twenty years old he had done quite a lot of teaching, though he had often times refused to teach spells that could do to much harm. He made sure that everyone that came to him for help knew how to defend themselves and he never taught anything that the school wouldn't want anyone to know. Skylar however had been caught a number of times looking into books that he ought not to be looking into, along with the two times he was caught in sections of the school he shouldnt be in. At the time he was caught it was blamed on the death of his parents and he was spared any punishment, skylar would admit today that he was looking into the darker arts and the points of spell casting that no one wanted him to at his age. Skylar remains a strong and dependable man. He struggled for quite some time to discover what his purpose was and even though he doesn't fully believe that he has found it, he finds happiness in teaching others some of what he has learned. In his years as a student he went from being shy and quiet to intelligent and quiet and then onto brilliant and quiet and now he sits as "An extraordinarily brilliant leader" as his friend michael would say. He is no longer shy like he use to be. He overcame his worries and his fears through helping others do the same. Today he seems to live and breath just to share his knowledge. He keeps his past and personal life to himself and very rarely opens up about anything thats went on but very much encourages anyone and everyone to come to him and share whats going on in their heads. He's talked to kids, students, adults and teachers at different points and learned so much from them. all that could be asked about that is whether or not its a good thing for one man to know so much about everyone around him. Not to terribly long after graduating from hogwarts Skylar was approached and offered a job at the school. Though he very much wanted a defense against the dark arts job he gladly accepted a job as the schools magical literature teacher. It was a job that he obtained due to his knowledge of the wizarding world and also a bit from the fact that he wouldnt want to work at the ministry even if you paid him the worlds weight in money. Skylar had always been considered highly intelligent by many so when he ended up with a job at the school not to many were actually surprised. Skylar himself was but he was glad that he didnt have to leave the school. Since the death of his parents the only real home he had ever known was the school. Skylar was a great teacher but he was a hard one too. His assignments were generally long and drawn out, very difficult and annoying but packed with more knowledge than most. he taught a lot and tried to make sure that each year people were in his class, they gained as much information as they possibly could. He taught about pretty much everything that he could in class and still even took the time to teach a few things outside of class but he still wanted the defense against the dark arts job. He wouldnt tell someone why, mostly because he wasn't quite sure but he would keep happily teaching magical lit until he could finally move on. When he was given the job he made sure a few rules were clear, wands are always put away, book are always carried with you and are kept in grand condition and most importantly, never be late. He was known on several occasions to deduct points from houses just for students being but a few seconds late. So, yes, Skylar was a hard teacher but he was a good one that took his job seriously. A few people didnt understand how he had gotten his job, other had tried to have him removed from the position and a small select few actually thought he had bought his way into the job or perhaps pressured someone into giving it to him but either way he had the job and in the eyes of those that mattered, he had obviously been doing a great deal of impressive work. hey guys, my name is Jack! and I am rocking it at 23 years old, role-playing for roughly 3 years - so i'm pretty chill with anything. i'm in the -5:00 US & Canada time zone, and hail from United Stares so how about that! currently my character looks just like Tom Riley or so i am told!
