ia Le was content. She had the Common Room phonograph playing some classical music, her Siamese Cat Yuxi in her lap, a book in one hand, and a carrot stick in the other. The rest of the carrot sticks were in a sack on the table beside the sofa. This was Jia Le's idea of the perfect evening, especially if the book she read on Ancient Egyptian Wizards and Witches produced any number of facts for her to relay to whoever would listen later. But for now, she allowed the knowledge of the ancients to fill her head. Meanwhile, YuXi lied and watched a mouse crawling about the room. The cat did nothing now, but oh how she plotted the mouse's demise. The creature had given her no end of trouble the last week or so.
She stopped reading and munching when the phonograph record stopped. Using her wand, she changed the records out from classical music to Italian opera before she went back to reading. She heard some boy grumble nearby about the choice in music.
"Sorry, William," she sighed. "But you promised I could pick it out tonight after I let you blast that rubbish you were playing last night. As the great witch poet Maladia Mullard once said, 'Though life is not fair, we may defy its unfairness by being fair ourselves'." William rolled his eyes and went back to his chess game with his friend.

Sophia made her way in to the common room where the others were. She was carrying a book on candies and how to make them better. The girl was a wonderful candy master and she loved to make candies. Taking a seat she smiled at Ge Jia. "I think your choice in music is good. Its perfect for an evening like this." Sophia liked all types of music and books. pulling out a bit of candy from her pocket and offered the girl some. "I call this Taste Bud Bomb. It dont taste like much at the begining but once it finds the taste your taste buds love that is the flavor of the candy. It took me a year to get this coding right." The girl smiled and hoped that the other girl would accept her.

(Her name is Jia Le. Ge is her last name, but she's Chinese so it's placed first in her name.)
Jia Le smiled when Sophia walked in and complimented her on her taste in music.
"Why thank you, Sophia," she said. "You see, William, other people do appreciate this music."
She then grimaced a bit at first when Sophia offered her some of the candy, but then formed a smile. She was not a fan of sweets at all. She was really big on health food.
"No thank you, Sophia," she said. "I have my carrot sticks here. Your candy looks lovely and quite clever, but I am not one to partake in sweets."
Jia Le looked over as YuXi pounced at the mouse, only to be unsuccessful. Jia Le said something to it in Chinese and the cat ran over and leaped on the table. Jia Le pet YuXi and smiled at Sophia.
"Would you like to sit with me?"

(Ok I learn new things every day. ) Sophia smiled, and when the girl declined her candy it didnt hurt her feelings at all. "I understand. Carrots are good." Sophia smiled, she liked her candies but she also ate healthy things. It was nice finding people you could talk to and Jia Le seemed like someone worth knowing. As she watched the cat listen to the girl she smiled. Her turtle blue didnt listen like that but he was a turtle and she loved him lots. When she asked if Sophia wanted to sit with her she smiled and took a seat next to the girl. "I really do like your taste in music."

Jia Le smiled, glad she didn't offend Sophia. She came from a family that could easily be offended if one was their guest at dinner. She never really got that, so she was glad when she didn't see it in others. "I am admittedly picky about what I eat," she said. "Sometimes people ask me if I'm on some kind of odd diet, but that's hardly the case. I have just never been partial to candy or a number of other sweet foods." She then offered Sophia a carrot stick. "You're welcomed to have one if you wish."Jia Le then smiled when Sophia said she liked her taste in music. She looked over to see William roll his eyes and she smirked a bit before turning back to Sophia. "Thank you," she said. "It's very pleasant for studying... or just casual reading." Of course, what Jia Le considered casual reading at times was what others called studying. "How have your classes been?"SOPHIA HEPBURN LUMIERE
