Another owl sent from home. Another letter encouraging Owen to try and get along with his stepbrother at Hogwarts. Owen felt that he didn't have to get along with Shay at Hogwarts. They were in two different Houses and he had to see the boy too much already when they were home.

Home? No, Godric's Hollow wasn't home. It was a place he had to live now because of his damn stepbrother. New York was home, and Owen was dead set on getting back there as soon as possible.

Owen played it cool, but the letter had made him angry. As he walked along the sub-levels, heading back to the Slytherin Common Room, he crumpled it up. He would have thrown it away had their been a trash can nearby. Heck, he would have thrown it on the floor if it wasn't for the fact that last time he did that, Professor Grimp showed up out of nowhere and had him pick it up.

Evi was in the common room studying for most of the day, needing to catch up on some homework she had been neglecting. She finished it up, put it back in her bag and set it in the chest in front of her bed before deciding to go get some fresh air.

As she walked out of the common room though, she spotted Owen walking by, clearly annoyed and with a crumpled piece of paper in his hand. She ran after him. "Owen!" she called "Owen!" before finally catching up to him and placing a hand on his shoulder to stop him.

"What's going on?"she asked him, wondering why he seemed to be annoyed at something. She took the paper from his hand and read it. She rolled her eyes. "Again?" she said about the letter. "You think they would give up by now trying to make everyone get along like one big happy family." she said crumpling the paper back up and handing it back to him.

Owen didn't get along with Shay, but his sister by blood, Evi, was another matter entirely. The two had always been tight, and Owen could care less that she was in another House. There were just as close at Hogwarts as they were at home.

He was glad he didn't find a place to chunk the letter yet. He was glad Evi could read it now. They shared a mutual problem after all.

"Yep, aaaagain," said Owen with his usual cool tone. "The home base wants me to get to know him, like hang out with him and see if we have have stuff in common. I KNOW the dude already. He's a pain in the booty. It's because of him and his mama and his brother that you and I are held up in Godric's Hellhole when we belong in the NYC. Come on, Big Sis. If we're gonna gripe about him, we might as well chill somewhere. I got some canned sodas in my bag."

Evi patted Owen's head. "Don't sweat it little bro." she said. "You have soda?" she said happily. She hadn't had one in awhile and was really missing it. "Let's go, preferably away from the Hufflepuff common room, don't want to give him an excuse to overhear us and cause more trouble." she said rolling her eyes.

She followed Owen to a place more out of the way than the common rooms where they wouldn't have to worry about Shay walking up and a fight happening. "I think they'll give up eventually on the big happy family idea though. They kind of have to, He doesn't like us any more than we dislike him." she said crossing her arms.

Owen smirked when Evi patted his head. That was how the two rolled. They kidded each other a lot, even resorted to playful name-calling, but that was all it was. When it came down to it, Evi and Owen were a team. He nodded when she asked him to confirm that he had soda.

"Your favorite too," he said. "Figured I'd store a couple of cans in case I ran into you. And I did one of those cold spells we learned to keep'em nice and chilled."

Owen agreed to steer clear of the Puff Common Room. In all honestly, as much as he loved his sister, he wasn't crazy about most of the students from that House. Many were a bit too shy and awkward for his taste.

Owen listened as Evi went on about their parents and the hopes and dreams of having a super duper happy family.

"Yeah, I don't seem Shay and his brother wantin' to kiss and make-up any time soon," said Owen as he found them a bench. He sat and handed Evi a can of her favorite soda while he pulled out a lemon-lime soda for himself, which was his favorite. "So how long do you think this whole dealy-o will last? You think we'll be able to get back home to New York any time soon?"

Evi smiled and hugged her brother when he said he had her favorite soda. "You are awesome little bro." she said with a smile. She happily followed along until they were away from the house entrances and sat next to her brother on the bench. She smiled and happily accepted the orange soda, her favorite. She opened it and took a drink.

"I missed you." she said to the soda. she looked up at her brother when he agreed about Shay and his brother not liking them either. "Seriously. It's all our fault even though they clearly don't like us either." she said making a face at that idea.

She shrugged when Owen asked her how long she thought the whole thing was going to last and if she thought they would be going back home to New York any time soon. "I doubt it." she said. "I think we're in it for the long haul honestly." she said. "I don't mind it here really though. I miss the US but if it weren't for the evil step-brother it would be kind of nice here. Especially since I was made a prefect here and everything." she said with a shrug.

Emma had one thing on her mind, and for once it wasn't her studies or how to survive her next run in with a stranger. Sure, by now she had known quite of few people. After all, she was a sixth year. But getting to know someone was not her strong suit as she was naturally shy and clammed up in a lot of situations. What was on her mind at that moment though, or rather who, was Shay. He was not only her boyfriend, but her first boyfriend and she couldn't be happier. The lovely Hufflepuff boy was one of her best friends and after the New Year's party, she was sure she liked him more than that. He had always been so kind to her and he even tried his best to communicate with her in the language she knew best; sign language. She couldn't have asked for a better person to be in her life.

Walking down the long corridors that Hogwarts' castle had to hold, Emmaline was on her way back to the common room after dropping off some books to the library. She had borrowed them to read up on some potions that they had just recently learned about in class and always liked to do extra research to keep fresh on the knowledge. The more she took in, the more she would remember. Not that it was hard for her as she was blessed with eidetic memory. Still, she loved to learn as much as she could and anything continuing the lectures topics were fascinating to her.

But she stopped in her path. See, normally she would have just passed the people she was passing; the two that happened to be siblings of her boyfriend. She didn't know much of the boy, except for stories, but she knew Evelyn from afar by being in the same year and house. However, catching the words that escaped their lips definitely struck a nerve she didn't know existed. It wasn't even an intentional eavesdropping, but her eyes caught Shay's name and then she was sucked in. Turning, the Hufflepuff found herself in front of the two students sitting on the bench. The normal sweet smile that graced her expression was not there. Instead it was replaced by a hard stare that she never remembered using before. "Excuse me, I couldn't help but... well..." How was she to explain that she didn't exactly overhear them, but rather over read their conversation? "It doesn't matter, but don't you think as a prefect, it is against your vows as a role model to the students to put down someone? Even if he might be your brother?" Her eyes locked on the girl instead of the younger boy and her tone stayed as calm as she could possibly keep it, but still firm. Despite being uncomfortable in the situation she had just put herself in, she would rather focus on the person she did know.

Owen smiled a little at his sister when she said he was awesome. Only Evelyn was allowed to see his goofy smile.

"You're pretty darn cool yourself, Big Sis," he said.

As he sipped his soda, he listened as she spoke of it not being so bad here.

"Eh, it's alright," he said. "I mean Godric's Hellhole is pretty boring, but I like the school. You should have been sorted into Slytherin though. We throw some wicked parties. British people say 'wicked' a lot. It's like British talk for 'sweet'. And it's cool you got to be a Prefect. You get to boss people around and stuff?"

He then turned when the other Hufflepuff showed up and lectured his sister. Owen liked to play it cool, but he also stood up for Evelyn.

"Chill, little mama," he said. "This is just family talk. And Evi's got Freedom of Speech whether she's a Prefect or not." He then turned to Evelyn. "They do have that here, right?"

Evi smiled. "Well thank you little bro." she said when he said she was pretty darn cool. She took a drink of her soda and leaned back to be more comfortable. She laughed about being sorted into Slytherin and their wicked parties. "Well, being a prefect is fun sometimes, but people expect me to be a role model, do everything right, and join in on the activities." she said with a shrug. "Honestly, it gets tiresome sometimes." she said.

She looked up hearing a familiar voice. "See what I mean?" she said turning to Owen when the girl mentioned being a role model and not putting down someone. She turned back to Emma. "That's why I am doing so in private and not in public." she said. "I don't have any problems with you, but isn't it also bad to drop in on other people's private conversations?" she asked raising an eyebrow.
