For the first time in a long time, Jackie was happy. After all this time, she reunited with her friend Katalina. She had someone again. Even if it was one person, she felt like she belonged again. Katalina was not only her friend, but as a vampire, Katalina represented Jackie's sole connection to that world... at least so far. Jackie did not know any other vampires outside of Kat and the one who bit her, Prince Doji Yen, and who knew where Doji Yen was now, if the Japanese vampire lord even existed anymore. And frankly Jackie could care less about that.
As she swept up at the apothecary, she smiled and actually whistled... yes whistled. The tune was an old one that many probably wouldn't recognize. It was over one hundred years old, quite fresh when she was a child as one of her childhood friends in her parents' traveling show made it up one day when the two were playing in a field while the horses rested.
