"Yes I get that not everyone wants a two headed Mandrake.. I get that, but if you do the price has not changed its still 150 Galleons.” She said her voiced raised her ears muffed with her daughter’s Pig earmuff’s because for whatever reason her tasteful black ones were missing. She shook some of the dirt off the Mandrake set that was aptly named ‘The Twins’ before she with a roll of her eyes and repotted the girls and started filling their bowl with the soil to quiet them down. “I know the cost, Trust me I don’t blame you but they are indeed rare.. But if it is too much we have a lovely three bummed Doxy that is only 13 galleon’s we are eager to get rid of him.. He keep escaping his cage and attempting mate with the mummified fairy that was found in the tomb of Worgna The Wicked. Well that and he keeps marking her with his scent which is bringing down the value of her slightly.. As shockingly pee’ coated mummified Fairies are not as in high demand as non-pee’d on fairies.. “
Risking a look up she saw the woman’s horrified expression her face as she was honestly insulted at the thought of being able to only afford a badly behaved Doxy who had three butts.. Within moments Emery was placing the ‘Twins’ pot into a large gift bag, and mentally doing a tally of what her commission would be as she was excited as it was a nice sell she was taken home 23 galleon’s. With gold to count and a few more items to price she set about clearing up for the day. She began sweeping not watching the door. She simply lost herself in the curious items that surrounded her the Havoc’s shop was truly something to behold as each item had a curious story to tell. They at first frightened her but being surrounded by darkness continuously she found herself accustomed to it in many ways it reminded her of him.
She pushed Alex from her mind knowing thinking of him was not a good thing, as her thoughts could be used against her if she was subjected to questioning by the ministry again on his whereabouts.. Last time the Auror’s came to pull her in for questioning Mrs. Havoc was kind enough to sick her private attorney’s on them and that had kept them at bay. Sadly she didn’t know how long it would be till they attempted to once again question her. So it was possibly in Alex’s best interest that she hadn’t heard from him. But she wanted to know if he was all right, she figured he was fine after all she didn’t know of stronger person that could handle being on the run.
Pausing in mid thought she stopped her sweeping of a clean store, and went to the counter and pulled out the forgotten edition of the prophet who’s headlines still read about another attack and another young witch still missing.. “That girl is a dead a door knob.. “ she said to the mummified wizards hand that skittered across the counter top which it was currently polishing she felt its prodding suggest poke which told her she was occupying counter space it wanted to polish.. She lifted up and turned to lean her back against the counter top her eyes on the article about the Davenshire infant that had been mauled by a werewolf. She sighed as it made her sad she turned the page to escape the gory details that had no business being in the paper. The small 4 inch stories title made her stop dead in her tracks.
The mention of a the murders of the Duvall’s made her wince, She quickly closed the paper not willing to register the questions that should be forming but her mind quickly shut it out. To her it didn’t matter guilt. Alex was Alex regardless of what he did. Truthfully she knew even if his hands were painted red it wasn’t something she would fault him for after all there were a few she would like to personally tend to. So she knew she had no room to judge.
Hearing the soft crow of Rose who let her know someone had entered the shop Emery shut the paper and glared as she shoved it under the drawer.. “ We are closing.. “ she said tartly.. “I’m feeling charitable so I’ll give you a ten minutes to look around and buy something but if you touch any of the glass displays or linger a minute after ten minutes without spending 35 galleon’s and I’ll release the hounds on you”

Today wasn't going to be a mistake, today was going to be the day where he did something for himself that wasn't hiding, it wasn't running away, it was him doing something that he just needed to do. He didn't care about the consequences in the moment he walked inside. He knocked the blue hood down from his head and he looked right at her. It had been a lifetime it seemed. The night he became a murderer was a night where he lost so much more than his family. Sometimes he forgot just how much he actually lost. It was so much, so very much more than just family that was gone that night. It was friends, people that he was so close to. Take this beautiful soul for example. The two were once very close. He could remember quite a few times in the past where he thought that he'd be expelled for things that had to do with her and a few others. As the murderer on the run locked his oddly colored eyes on Emery he was shot back to a dream he had while he was hiding in the woods. It was of something better, a different and less complicated world. It was of a world where he was a free man that never had to look over his shoulder. He had a home, a great job. His family had plenty of money. He came home every night to that girl he had married. He kissed her as he came through the door. he was nearly trampled by the kids as they ran to him. It wasn't a dream people like him had often, Of course he never had it more than that one time but it really stuck with him and that was because for some reason it was Emery that he ended up married to in that dream. Of all the people he knew at school, it was her that he was with in the dream.
When he walked inside his boots hit the floor a bit harder than he had intended. They were heavy, black and grey. It was something he had stolen a while back when someone left them sitting somewhere. Everything else he had on right now he had paid for. From the tight jeans to the plain blue t shirt to the jacket with the hood. He had ended up with a bit of money recently so things weren't all that bad. He even had a place and it was a lot better than sleeping outside, hiding behind and in trees. Holding his breath underwater and fighting for his life every other day just to survive another night. He was just about completely safe again though he was taking chances all the time by coming out. He didn't know why but he kept thinking that by coming out he would eventually find something that would give him a little peace. He wasn't sure what it was or how he was going to find it but he knew that something had to work out eventually.
He had both hands in his pockets now. He took a few steps forward and kept his eyes on that radiant angel that stood not to far away. In his mind he laughed at what she had said to him when he came in and he really wanted to just start touching things just to annoy her but now wasnt the time. He took a deep breath and as he exhaled he spoke. "I think just a few words would be worth a million galleons to you, Em." He spoke very softly and knew without any doubt that his voice would be known to her. His oddly colored eyes never left her. She was a sight for the sorest of eyes. He felt like it had been an eternity since he last saw her. A small part of him never wanted to look at anything else just in case he died for some reason. That way she would be the last thing he saw and he could die with a little happiness. His thoughts made him wonder if he had loved her before, it certainly sounded that way but he couldn't remember feeling that way about her, at least not completely so.
There were plenty of days before that dark night where Emery was the brightest part of his life. No one ever meant more to him than Erica but Emery was definitely someone special to him. They had been through things, they were there for each other. He couldn't say that about everyone no matter how much he wished he could say it about some people.

The moment his voice caressed her ear she felt her breath catch locked in the middle of her ribs churning there till that necessity for life became painful enough to force her to release it which she did in a obvious gasp. Surely he could not know, men didn't think of such things. Of course not as life existed in a simplistic plan for them, whereas women as a whole tended to complicate things. Sure hearing his voice brought instant relief as it meant he was alive, nothing else should exist on that simple pedestal that came with fresh hope at hearing his voice, sadly that wasn't the case not when it comes to women much less the souls like Emery who don't bother to hide those raw cut emotions that come with the relief one finds in new hope..
It is him. It’s not a trick of the mind it is him.. She steadied herself against the glass display case she had to take hold of to keep from falling forward as she caught sight of him as he tugged back that blue hood. Naturally she thought it was a trick of her mind a desperate coping mechanism so she could fool herself into believing that time wouldn't have her forget the features of his face, or the way his lips curved when he offered that sly single smirk that seemed solely for her amusement. Of course it wasn't till she let go of that breath did she realize at once she had been holding. Sadly it was a repercussion being terrified of moving disrupting anything that would make that moment dissolve, and she would be left standing in a the middle of an empty shop in Knockturn worrying if she was indeed losing her mind.
Her eyes wide and full of the emotion that she was ill-equipped to express in that moment. Well even if her mind wouldn't pull a single thought to her mind on what to say her eyes express was a speaking it loud and clear as she fought the telling burn that told her she was on the verge of tears. She pushed back that weakness just she always did when it came to any of her dealings with Alex as she they were a source of strength for one another, and now when he probably needed her most she would not fail him and be reduced to sniveling weakness.
She instead pulled herself up straight her shoulders slid back and she ran a trembling hand through her long hair that had in the course of the day escaped its braid. She eased the silky strands back over her shoulder in an attempt to look tidy she then walked to him her eyes looking over him taking in the various features taking stock of various details she picked up from sight alone his hair was longer roughly cut. (It looked as if it needed another cut, preferably by hand that was not his own) he looked slender, not emaciated thankfully, but he had certainly lost a few pounds that he didn't need to loose.
With that she smiled wistfully at him as she came to stand before him, her eyes drifted to the open windows of the shop, and the streets of Knockturn that lurked just beyond the high arching double pane glass. She worried about those who would be trolling the streets casing Aurors where not her only threat sadly the occupants of the Knockturn were known for having the loyalty of a ravenous gutter shrew. She wanted to embrace him feel her arms around him, and his locked around her to melt into his warmth and feel that tense strength that came with being held in a man’s arms who cared about her. She realized how selfish it was to want that to greeted with a gift of being around him and immediately want something even if it was reassurance that he was okay.
She pulled her wand, and lowered the red velvet curtains of the window. She went back to the counter looking at him her mind flooded with question that she knew she had not a single right to ask. Instead she bit back curiosity and remembered that regardless of why it was Alex standing there that it was he who needed her now.
Emery had been in his shoes enough times in her life where she needed him, and he was there. Her drifted to the time before that fateful night when their world was shattered when she her best friend wasn’t in ruin with his life hanging in that very thin strand. She made the mistake of looking into his odd colored eyes those eyes that instantly brought her back to a time and place of innocence where the choices they made didn’t have permanent repercussions. The choice that had him lost for a so long, and the one that had her worried that if she had not laid with Linus would she had been able to stop Alex from making that choice that left his life in ruins now. Of course she blamed herself for what he had done, and it showed in the guilt she openly felt as she looked at him, with her hand at her heart. It would be worth so much more than a few galleons, you under sell my joy. But I’ll let it slide to feel your arms around me.. “

Alex had managed to contain himself as he looked at her from a distance but with each small step that brought her angelic form closer the weight of his feelings increased. His eyes filled with water, his bottom lip began to tremble a bit as his eyes told that he was searching for the words to say and when none came he moved right at her. he threw his arms around her and held onto her as tightly as he could. He buried his face against her neck and refused to allow himself to release her. "I would have given up my eyes to see you and my fingertips just to touch you one last time." The cracking of his voice was still easy enough to hear even though it was heavily muffled. He kept his face buried against her. Never in his life had he ever imagined an eternity being so painful or so long, He never thought he could miss someone so much, want to be in someones presence so badly. In the moment she approached him and he threw his arms around her it felt like a part of himself, his soul, was returned to him. It had felt for so very long like he was being crushed by a hundred thousand pounds of weight and in an instant she lifted it up off of him.
"I spent so many nights without sleep because my thoughts were on you. I dreamt of you, hoped, wished and prayed that no harm would come to you while i was gone and i've wanted so badly to come back, to see your beautiful face, to wrap my arms around you and i am so profoundly sorry that it's taken me this long." It was Em he was talking to so he quit caring. Those tears pushed their way from his eyes and would have ran down his face if his head was up right. Instead they fell from his oddly colored eyes and smashed against her wonderful, radiant skin. Alex took a deep breath and raised his head a bit now, He put his chin just ontop of her left shoulder and stil held onto her tightly.
Each moment he spent in her presence would be another moment that made him regret his choices and ache for a way to change things, to go back and right those wrongs. He imagined the way things could have been if he hadn't destroyed his life. He could be someone right now, instead of a wanted man, a memory to most. Most people thought he was dead, probably died on the run from some dementors. Alex wondered what he would be doing right now if things were different. If that fight hadn't broken out. He might be working somewhere like the ministry, He could even be working in hogwarts, doing something random and awesome. he hated that place but he'd take it right now if it would turn back time. He couldn't believe how badly he wanted to erase the past and rewrite it. If he could he would put their friendship back together, maybe even take away some of the pain his beautiful Emery had been caused before he left as well.
Her scent overwhelmed him as it always had. it was something he hadn't forgotten. It had of course drifted from his mind in the times where spells were being slung at him and dementors were lurking but he always remembered it. Much like her, he couldn't describe it or the incredible effect it had on him. Just like her presence it brought him happiness. To have her around was to see him truly happy. She was his heroin. The few words she had said to him after noticing who he was were words that made him so incredibly filled with joy. it told him so much. After all this time, after all the things that he knew she had heard. She still approached him, spoke to him and wanted his arms around her. What could he say about that? it was such an intoxicating feeling that he couldn't believe. He wanted to hold her forever. To him, his entire family was gone. He knew nothing of his baby sister Erica surviving what had happened, so all this man had left in this world was Emery and Lisa. Lisa had taken to him quite easily and she really seemed to not care at all about what he had done but Emery was quite different, to Alexander that is. Before Lisa was ever a thought to Alexander, Emery was the one he spent his time with. The two were there for one another, Em had to have been there for Alexander more than anyone else in his life. Since he was a good bit older than Erica she never got a huge chance to be there for him, He was always there for her, he helped her study and do other things and they hung out and played. He remembered times when he took her to the park and they played muggle games but Emery was the one that Alexander shared his problems with. If anyone knew about how close he was to breaking before he actually did, it was Emery.
He had no more words for her. He couldn't think of anything, he could barely breath. All he wanted to do was remain where he was for the rest of his life just to ensure that she never fell from his sight again. His heart felt not so broken, His pain seemed so much less than it had been for years. His tears weren't caused by his nightmares for once and finally he truly knew that the person he was holding was someone that would never let him down. He didn't worry about her running and telling on him. If he had then that thought was thrown from his mind the moment she spoke. There was nothing he could do in this moment but hold onto her like his life depended upon it. he was so happily paralyzed with his arms still so tightly wrapped around her little frame.

He was such a formidable force even if he didn't appear to look it, and truly he didn't look it.. His eyes perhaps were the most deceptive things about him as right now they were so deceptive so needy so desperate it made her forget so easily what loomed beyond the window panes where reality sent forth people to snatch him up to take him away, to hold him accountable to heinous crimes that were literally labeled crimes of the century. Sadly Emery knew the other flip of that beautiful silver coin that was Alexander. She knew it all to well that burning emotion, that fiery hatred that had finally consumed him that fateful night when that consuming hatred erupted in action that sent their lives on the course misery that it was currently on.
She had seen that hatred, and like a stupid dove that mourning over the loss of a mate she stood strong for her friend that had took that not so honorable fall from grace. She defended his name, she refused to cooperate with authorities to the point that she had been taken in on several occasions till finally sympathetic friends covered the legal fees and obtained her an attorney that would keep the wolves of the ministry at bay with a order of protection against a few whom had not so gently threatened to take her child from her, when she refused to take the truth serum.
Yes the beautiful boy who held her so tightly that it threatened to bruise the pale skin of her petite slender body that literally ached at his touch. Her hands slide up his back as she nuzzled into the warmth of his chest her nose pushed against his shirt as she drew several ragged open mouthed breaths as she inhaled to steep herself in his sent taking in the various scents that lingered in his clothes the smell of fresh ash, pine, a metallic and something oddly sweet like a ladies smell. It was all mixed together in his shirt along with the seedy order of him that alone tested that resolve she had promised not to cry.
She just stood there enveloped in his arms and as he held her tightly she realized quickly that she was holding him as much as he was holding her both depending on one for comfort and shockingly as it seemed strength. Her hands softly rubbing soothing circles at his back as he body literally shook hers with his sobs. Truly she had found herself in an odd position as in the past if there was something that would reduced Alex to tears it was likely Emery was the one looking to have a 'word' with that something. So it was natural she miss-understood his emotion at first with his tears she understood that he was hurt but she of course thought it was a physical hurt, not that he was hurt emotionally or that it was over seeing her..Her hands trembled as every fear that touched her day and night played through her mind.. Her hand trembled as he sobbed again as she attempted to sooth him her hand gentle as she padded little soothing circles against the hard muscles of his back.
"Are you hurt Alex.. If your hurt let me see let me help you., I'm not a healer but I can set a bone and I help..IF anyone hurt you.. Oh I'm going to have at them.. " Her voice raw with emotion.. "Bloody goons dislocated my shoulder last year. " Her hands soothed over his shoulder and across his chest as she felt for possible broken bones or dislocations her fingers combed over his side checking his ribs. " your not bleeding are you.. I"ve got some Essence of Dittany.. " She felt around and didn't feel anything slick with wetness. With that initial wave of panic subsiding she allowed herself to breath out a long sigh of relief. It was with the understanding that nothing was physically wrong with him that she finally allowed herself to take in what he said.
" Oh Alex. Shush..Please don't cry. Your here now.. your right here I feel you.. " Her hand went up reached up to cup the stubble chin. "So no need for apologies.. Its me.. " she pleaded.. " Its me I'm right here and its Me Alex we don't make apologies for things we can't help.. You can't help that you've had to be away for a... " and openly as she tried to wipe some of his tears away some of her own fell over her cheeks.. " Bit.. "
Bit.. that was certainly not the way she would have described the length of absence that had literally left her feeling as if she had been carved open and everything good that had existed had been set on fire where the ruined ashes now only smoldered because finally he had returned.. No it had not felt like a bit, it was never a bit when you exist with the pain of anguish, but with him there with him crying in her arms her own pain seemed million miles away. It is just how it happens when you love someone you give yourself, for that person you will literally rip yourself inside out to see their needs met.
Eventually she knew he would let go.. He had too, but she wouldn't push him too frankly she couldn't even if she wanted too because with him there his hands tight around her it was just them.. There was nothing outside hunting there was no secrets she was keeping, there was no sleeping child up the stairs who's dad she wished was the man holding her now.. As long as he held her tight and she held him it was like that world of bad choices didn't exist. If Rose had been his.. She would have his eyes she knew her daughter would have had his beautiful eyes.. Eyes like.__________
With a shuddered gasp she looked at him knowing he needed to know about Grace.. Her grey eyes searching his as she looked at him her eyes wet with fresh tears as she didn't know how to even tell him.. Her lips trembled as her mouth felt dry as a desert. " I have to tell you something.. Alex.."

Alexander's torch red eyes looked through hers as she last spoke. Something in her words seemed to pull a little joy from him. No one ever said something like that unless it was massively important and in this case it was. He slid his arms from around her very slowly and ran his fingers down her arms until he could take both of her hands. He squeezed them and kept her close. His eyes would continue to meet hers but for some reason, after what she had said last he was forced to look away each time. It brought so much worry to him. "I'm all right, Em. I'm perfectly all right.. but.. what--" He paused for a moment. He released one of her hands and brought his own hand up. He placed it gently on her cheek and ran his thumb along her skin. It had only been a brief moment since he had entered this place and already it felt like she was his lifeline. The thought of her being away from him was so agonizing it could nearly paralyze him. Having her in his sights, feeling her skin, taking in her amazing scent and hearing her voice brought him happiness he hadn't known in so long yet at the same time it gave him something to lose and that also brought a lot of pain to his mind. What if it happened again? What if he was put into that situation and had to choose, what would he do?
In the times that he saw his own hands and thought about what he had done it took him back to that night. Something like what he had done was something that never left you. You could never forget and that was certainly the case with Alexander. His torch red eyes looked over Emery's beautiful features but in the back of his mind he could so easily see the events of that night. Nothing stood out more than the part that wasn't suppose to happen. He did what he had to do, He listened, he fought, he killed and it was all for her but things just weren't meant to be that way. The rules changed and he was forced to do the thing he hated most. He lifted his sister from the floor. His hands were wrapped tightly around her throat. He shoved her into the wall and squeezed. His burning red eyes filled with tears as he choked her until she went limp. He heard no breathes, saw no movement and when she dropped to the floor his world that was already built of glass shattered into thousands of irreplaceable pieces. He lost his soul that night, his will along with it. Nothing in this world meant more to him than Erica. In the deepest parts of his mind you could find that he did very much love his mother, She was a good person, especially to Erica and though His father was hard on him, Alexander knew it was for the best. He also loved his brother and his other sister but Erica was just his favorite. He hated to be one that picked a favorite but the two just matched. They had so much in common.
Alexander used his thumb and wipe away a few tears from Emery's gorgeous face. He raised his other hand and placed it on the other side of her face. he moved in close to her and as much as he wanted to feel her lips against his he didn't kiss her, not there anyway. He kissed her very gently on the forehead. "What is it?" He tried to think of the worst things she could tell him and nothing really came to mind. He tried his hardest to think of some things but nothing would compare to what she was going to tell him. He had skipped that chance to kiss her, regardless of his feelings and his desires. In the moment he touched her face he really wanted nothing more than to taste her lips. He couldn't have everything he wanted though. "Did someone hurt you?" It randomly hit him, It hadn't registered yet. His earlier question of what she had to tell him suddenly didn't matter so much. His eyes searched hers, He tried to see what she had hidden inside. No tricks or spells or anything, he was just always good with reading people, especially her. He wanted to know who had put their hands on her. if she so much as spoke a single name he would go and hunt them to the edge of the world.
he had been a bit to blinded in the past by others things to see certain feelings. If only he had seen the one light that shined so bright in a world of darkness perhaps he would not be in the position he is now. He had wished many times for a way to bring the truth of this whole situation to the proper people but with each passing day that grew less and less likely. Alexander would probably go to his grave with the blame and guilt of what had happened to his family and rightfully so. It was his hands that committed the crimes. "I swear to the gods that if someone hurt you i'll rip apart mountains to find them. I'll follow them into hell if i have too." He seemed to be a bit over taken by the thought of someone hurting her. Alex seemed to let the importance of what she had to tell him slip his mind. It was something he needed to hear more than anything in the world

Alex affected her deeply within his hands she felt safe even though there were many there that would have suggested to feel safe in the arms of Alexander Duval was a moron’s tale. Still it didn’t stop that tingling sensation that seemed rooted at the base of her stomach to flutter as she was held tight in his arms. Than it went, the moment he released her, the feeling of his hands pulling down her arms slowly sent a rush of panic coursing strongly threw her. She almost protested verbally but realized was stopped the moment her grey eyes blinked up to catch sight the look on his face.
The look made her swallow hard, as if there was something heavy and repugnant in her mouth, she wanted to glance away but couldn’t she like always was caught by his raw emotion like a butterfly caught in web she struggled, knowing that he was worried and she had caused it and now she had stupidly left him with a statement that would send him digging for answers.
She winced her eyes closed as he leaned down to kiss her forehead she knew she wanted more, and felt instantly guilty for even thinking it. After all he had been on the run last thing he needed was that knowledge. Not to mention it she knew it would be stupid of her to play it out to allow him, as no good would come from it.. SHE would need to remain strong and if that meant keeping him safe she would do what it took even if it meant keeping him out of her bed.
You have to do what is right this time.. That stern voice in the back of her mind reminded her that he needed her to be the strong friend more than ever right now as lots of things needed to be done for his safety and not all of them would be good like telling him about Erica, as even with him standing there she struggled with telling him that fact..
Oh the wave of Déjà vu that flooded her as realized that she had been in a very similar situation, and worse yet the situation was about three years ago, yes she too was faced with a similar dilemma did she tell him she was involved with Linus, and risk another fight between the two? She had chosen to not tell Alexander about her relationship with Linus, and the results of her choice were playing before her now.
Perhaps it was because she had already played out the outcome of keeping secrets from Alex is why she was now currently playing out the options of what to do when she told him about Erica. Yes the more she played it in her mind the more she resigned herself to the duty of telling him that Erica had not died. She was just struggling of how to tell him this crucial fact.
However with his obvious panic and the way he was questioning her the way he drew her face up so she could no look away from his eyes he simply held her will in the palm of his hands as he leaned and planted a very soft kiss on her forehead. The action was simply the un-raveling of what ability to reason she had left. The very soft brush of his lips on her forehead sent her soul on fire it made her ache for the thought of them and what could have been.
“Its about Erica, Alex.. “
She said somberly her voice hitched softly as she looked up at him. “ Alex you didn’t… “ She couldn’t bring herself to say those words the very thought of them literally caused her pain when she even thought about it.. “I wanted to send word with my owl, but I know it would be followed.. Alex understand I didn’t want you to know like this I wanted to tell you sooner just didn’t know how.. I’ve been looking out after her.. Alex, I’ve been keeping after her as if she was my own.. “ Her feather soft voice flustered obviously as she sputtered out random facts till that last remaining fact slipped from her. “ Alex Erica is alive.” She looked at him weakly feeling guilty that he was now just finding out as it was three years in knowing she felt horrible in telling him like this. “I’ve been keeping up with her, Rose and I see her often.” Looking for something to say something that would take away that she had waited three years to tell him he had not killed his sister.. She offered weakly.. “ See no need to go mortally wound anyone for dislocating my shoulder in a random questioning.. “
Fearing his reaction she began to tremble slightly and her hands folded over each and she began to fidget her worried glance looking over his she searching his for clues on to how he was handling this bit of news if she would need to get him a chair or possibly start safe guarding the various precious objects in the glass shelves not more than three feet away from him.. In her glance she her gaze fell to his mouth that mouth that had been on her forehead prior. She worried if what she had told him would make him resent her silence and would it pull him away from her.. The thought ripped through her leaving her feeling raw and exposed and what festered was absolute fear of his silence and anger..
“Please say something.. “ She frowned a bit.. “ If your upset with me.. Perhaps we can ease into conversation till then we can perhaps attempt some blinking code.. ONE blink for yes two for no.. Are you really upset with me for not telling you sooner? Remember one for yes.. TWO for no.. “

Emery's words were suppose to be healing for him. Many would have thought he would have loved to hear something like what she said but instead he was just horribly confused, at first anyway. He looked at her for a moment. He wasn't sure what to say. No words came to mind. He couldn't fathom what she had just said to him. How could Erica have survived, how could she still be alive. He killed her. He choked the life out of her with his own two hands. There was no way she could still be breathing. His heart began to beat faster and faster. He took a few steps back and ran into the door. It was starting to come to him, even though he didnt know how it could be true. With each breath his state of panic increased. He looked in all directions and struggle for his words. he looked to Emery. His eyes were overwhelmed with tears. "I.." He shook his head and tried to fight away his tears and bring some form of words through his lips.
Alexander thought about the night over and over again in his head. He looked down to the floor and then raised his hands into his line of sight. Flashes of him holding Erica against the wall and choking her went through his mind again and again until he finally turned around and pressed his forehead against the door. He struggled to push the visions from his brain and once he felt it was impossible he punched the door as hard as he could. Finally, he turned around and looked right at Emery. "How can she be alive?" He spoke through a cracking voice as he came up to Emery. He put both of his hands back on her face. His fingers began to tense up and he squeezed at her head just a bit. Alexander pulled his hands away from her as quickly as he could. He knew if he held them there he'd lose control of himself in his confusion. He turned away from her and walked a couple of feet.
"How can-- How can she still be alive, Emery? I.. I.. killed her. I picked her up by the throat and held her against the wall. She fought and kicked and screamed. She scratched at my hands and arms. She looked at me with the most hurt eyes. She was so confused and scared. I squeezed her neck and watched her face turn purple. She went limp and lifeless. I threw her to the floor and then i left. She CAN'T be alive, Emery.." Alexander didn't know what else to say. He couldn't believe that she was alive. Some part of him wouldn't allow it. There wasn't a single soul he loved more than his sister and even though it was true that she lived, he couldn't believe it until he saw her pretty face and looked into those one of a kind eyes that no one else had. "Em, Please, I can't take that. His voice lowered. He closed his eyes so he didn't have to see the world and his breath began to slow.

Emery looked up at him and visibly blanched at the mere look of tormented confusion on his face. There were not many things in the world that could reduce her to an absolute feeling of illness than that look of pain on his handsome face. It had always been her intention to shield him from pain the best that she could.
However regardless of her noble intentions occasionally mistakes were made, take for one this night she didn’t want to take from the moment of having him there seeing the joy radiate and still with her guilt ridden conscience she had robbed him blind, not to mention she had robbed herself as well. True her intentions were just she wanted to do what she could to ease his conscience, she believed with all her heart and soul that he had one. Regardless of the monster that people swore he was, Emery hung steadfast to the belief that he was the boy she knew. The boy who she didn’t doubt regretted his actions the boy who loved his family regardless of what the papers read she knew that he did love his family and most importantly Erica. Morally she as his friend, and someone whom she believed loved Alexander better than all she could not look him in the eye and keep that knowledge from him. Emery was hardly someone to take charge, however on occasions when the demand for was great she did surprise herself by the choices she made take for one this night when emergency called for it. She would not have him break down on her now, not after he had survived so much. After all this wasn’t the first time she would be faced with and Emergency concerning Alexander he had given her cause for much practice in being calm in states of emergencies with his constant fighting her ex Linus.
So the cloak of calm control settled on her as he began torturing himself with the details of that night, many of which she could have gone the rest of her life just fine without hearing as it was much easier for her to wrap that cloaked of indifference to his suggested crimes when she didn’t get the blow by blow detail of his crimes from those beautiful lips that with each word spoken burned a bit of her heart because it was the first time she was forced to face his admission when prior it was something she could fool herself with that he didn’t do it.
She stood before him un-moved by his confession she didn’t register even a slightest wince at the words she fought against that consuming burn knowing that if she was going to remain in love him she would need to not judge his actions as it was obvious that he had judged himself more harshly than any judge could.. The open pain in his glance that spoke of regret, and concern and hopelessness as he didn’t believe her words that his sister was still alive.. To many it would have looked callous like some deranged couldn’t believe that he had not been successful in murdering a little girl, but for Emery it wasn’t like that to her it showed the hopelessness that he was living with, he no longer believed in miracles.. To Emery it was sobering and it needed to be addressed.
Her eyes kind and wide their hazy sky grey coloring reflected her concern for him as her hands went to his cheeks as she wanted to pull his gaze to hers.. “ Alex.. Stop.. “ She said softly. “ I need you listen to me, and believe me. You know me, I would never intentionally hurt you.. So whatever your thinking its no true.. I’m not joking, I would never jest with you about something painful and Erica being alive is not something I say without knowing for certain. So please hear me.. I know what you did, you know what you did your torturing yourself by replaying it.. Its not going to take it away, no good will come from you hurting yourself over that night.. But your still her brother, you love her in spite of losing control you love that little girl, Yes you hurt her, yes you almost killed her Alex but she is not dead Erica is alive you didn’t kill her.. I don’t know if it is miracles and it doesn’t matter because she isn’t dead and the love I have for her is yours you taught me that love of family, and where you don’t have others I know you have your sister and it might take time but Alex with every bit of my being I want you two to be family again.. Because she is what you have, and you is what she has and you two are what Rose and I have. You don’t have to see her if you can’t handle it I can bring you pictures if need be but I think perhaps it will help you bury some of those doubts if you face the fact that she is not dead.. “

Alexander stood still in the room but inside his head it was like a battle was going on. He stood there with a blank expression on his face for what seemed like the longest time. Finally he beat back all the thoughts and doubts. It was like it just snapped inside of his head. His silence was broken by several deep breaths. His eyes wandered for a moment before he placed them on Emery. The torch red eyes didn't seem to burn with as much anger and confusion as they did when she first told him. If Erica was Alive he wanted to see her, he wanted to know. he wanted more than anything to just hug her. It had been ages and he had wished and prayed for a way to do so. Though pictures were a good idea they wouldn't do. If she was still around he would have to see her and as much as he wanted it to be right now he knew it was too late He wouldn't be able to see her tonight but he'd be able to sleep knowing she was alive or at least hoping that this wasn't a sick joke by Emery.
Alexander had been denied so much and for so long. It was about time he had something go right for him. He was tired of wanting and waiting. He was strong enough to take what he wanted, regardless of the consequences. This of course meant that he was about to do something stupid. He was exhausted with always thinking of it, or wanting or dreaming of it. No matter how it had come to his mind, he had never taken advantage of it and now he would. He couldn't wait any longer. He stepped up to her and quickly put one hand on the side of her face and leaned in. he gently pressed his lips to hers and held onto that kiss as long as he could. It was something he should have done a long time ago, it might have saved him a lot of trouble. In the moment he kissed her he couldn't really figure out why, other than the fact that he had just waited so long that he wasn't strong enough to not do it anymore.
When he finally broke the kiss, He moved his lips back just an inch or two and leaned his forehead against hers. It had really taken his breath away to do that. It was a good thing, a good that he hadn't felt since... maybe ever. Alexander rested there for a moment, he didn't want to move away from her again. He only wished he could somehow be closer to her. His eyes were closed, his breath was slow and steady. He seemed at ease for the moment. "Em, Where is she?" He asked quietly. He wanted her to know that he was going to believe her. She had never given him a reason not to and if nothing else, he was here and she hadn't tried to call anyone for help or get him arrested so he should have no reason not to believe her just based off of that. He had always struggled with trust issues but he shouldnt with Emery. Some part of him knew that she was the one he could trust over anyone else.
He would try his best to see Erica if he could. She would be terrified of him more than likely and it would be hell just to get her to speak to him but he knew that. he was already ready for that bit. He had thought about it before and knew that if any of his family was still alive that they would struggle to speak to him but he never knew that it was possible for any of them to still be here. Erica was going to be so much bigger than she was, So much prettier. She'd probably be so smart and happy. She might have even found a way to forget about her terrible brother.

Keep his glance.. Don't turn away you fool.. He can be mad, he can swear and be pissed its his sister he has every right in the world to be angry that he didn't know.. He thought he had killed her and you couldn't even be bothered with sending a blasted note..
Emery steadied herself from the onslaught of angry criticisms that circled her mind, the critical voice hadn't changed much even in the time of her childhood it always played in her ear the tone of her mother whom always found fault with her daughter, even when her own faults were larger. Naturally Emery didn't assume absolute acceptance and forgiveness from Alex, it took a few moments of standing in the wake of her announcement to realize that perhaps just perhaps he would understand the position she was in and why she didn't run telling him.
Sadly because of her mother she would always have that default setting where she assumed the person would be resentful of her being her. So like she always did she simply stood there face to face, toe to toe her gray eyes weary with unfathomable concern but still she stood there rebelling against that inner voice that had told he would never forgive her for keeping that secret, and for a few seconds only silence met her as gazed at him as those beautiful eyes fought for comprehension to something he no doubt couldn't even wrap around his mind enough to conceive.. She knew why too she could see that element in him that heart breaking guilt that all but radiated from him the moment she had said his little sister's name the anguish that was so present that it was almost tangible.
Then there it was that break of silence as the sound of his deep ragged breaths reached her ear and pulled from her a full body tremble, as his gaze drifted to her's and she saw the light of life reflected back at her in his burning glance and in reaction her own breath caught as she felt her mouth clinch down, and her mind began to wonder if she had this time tested that trust too much..
I should have risked it.. I should have.. Oh Alex I'm so sorry..
She was about to break down into a messy display of groveling that would probably require an assortment of handkerchiefs, but he moved towards her. She simply stood still determined to take whatever wrath he flung at her her eyes locked onto his as he reached for her she didn't move she just trembled as his fingers found the side of her face her blond hair trinkling over his skin and polling at his wrists. Her natural reaction at this degree of intimacy was to pull away from it after all a man had not touched her or made a move to kiss her since before Rose was born. However this wasn't just another man, this was Alexander who held her tightly in his hands now it was those soft blue eyes she gazed up into with open wide eyed trust and wonder as he closed the distance between them.. Her head leaned back a bit as he still towered over her. He leaned in not telling her what he was doing which was probably good because Emery would have attempted to stop him. Emery adored Alexander but it was a first for her and him he had never made that intention before though she had assumed because of his intense hatred for Linus that perhaps he had un-mentioned feelings for her, and Emery only knowing the way of her mother when it comes to men's affection she knew guy leave when they have had their fill. Perhaps it was that worry that always made certain that she kept Alex at arms length, so it was better that he didn't make his intention known as she would have attempted to stop it and probably would have ruined moment that needed to happen for both of them.
An audible gasp fell from her lips as he lower his lips to hers and she felt the tender pressure of his kiss, and for once in her life she didn't close her eyes against the onslaught of emotion that overtook her. It wasn't the first kiss that it should have been with him, she had ruined that, truly she had ruined many of the first that should have been shared with only Alex. Emery found it shocking that even if this wasn't the first that partially because of his brashness she was caught off guard and with him it had meant a great deal more than the moments of romance she had spent with Linus.. His feeling he set deep within her honestly felt as if he had set her soul free from its cold hard cage. Her fingers un-balled from the fists that were held tight at her sides and slowly her hands slid to his arms and along his forearms and along his shoulders to hold him tight to savor the warmth she fell from him.. The moment he released her, but still held her close enough to rest his forehead against hers and only at this did she finally close her eyes against the well of emotion she felt.. Her eyes only opened when she felt chill in the room hit her she realized at once she was blushing as ever part of her pink tinted skin tingled feeling tender to his touch.. She took a wobbly step back from him to catch hold of the self to once again for the second time that night to still herself.
She heard his words murmured softly, and the pain she felt as worried about the details if he would leave her in the moment to go to his sister.. The the persisting worry if he would be caught in is eager foolishness. Her hand slid to his cheek.. She wouldn't deprive him of the information she would always be honest and candid with him she owed him that.. So she would not with hold information that she had, with Alex she simply couldn't .
"She is staying in a orphanage.. The woman who runs it is an absolute gem.. I'm working to see if I can adopt her.. Thank to the generosity of my employers I have steady income and a home for her.. I"m working on getting the money saved for the legalities of it.. I'm hoping to have it settled by the next two months. I"m not sure if she would want me though.. She has been threw so much I'm afraid of disappointing her. " She looked down and added softly.. " She will be here tomorrow for a visit, perhaps seeing her and knowing she is doing well, will be enough till I can get her accustomed to the thought of you wanting to see her.. I'm not sure if she fears you because of what happened Alex... We can hide you simply enough.." He looked at him and offered a smile.. " Its not much but it is mine.. Want to see if we can hide you before Mrs. Havoc brings my daughter home?"

What was he suppose to think of that? She would have his baby sister Erica. It was an interesting thought. They would be a good fit although Alexander wasn't sure he would belong in something like that. Something about that idea, while he loved it, seemed odd to him. It wasn't really a bad thing, it was just something that he would certainly have to get use to. He never saw something like that happening in his head. He took a deep breath and ran his odd eyes over her before closing them. He thought back to a few years ago. His parents were gone, it was just him and Erica. He had promised he'd take her to the lake and show her how to skip stones. Alexander had been putting it off for weeks but on that day she had finally convinced him to do it. They spent hours there that day and she mastered the art of it rather quickly. They were late for dinner, something Alexander got in trouble for. It was a dangerous world and Erica wasn't meant to be out in it that late. Alexander just thought about that for what seemed like the longest moment in his entire life. He couldn't remove it from his mind.
"That's sweet of you.. I do appreciate it. I would like to spend some more time with you. I don't.. um.. I don't know how you feel about that." He put some space between them and did so very nervously. he placed one hand on the back of his neck and lowered his head. "I think it'd be good for me, You, Us.. Erica. I can't even begin to imagine how i should be brought back into her life and i know that it will be hard. She may not even want to see me, She may run or scream and get me caught. For years i've ran from dementors. They've been my worst fear for so long but right now i think i would spend a thousand years suffering their kiss if only she'd accept me as her brother again." Alexander lowered his arm to his side and raised his confused eyes to Emery. He wasn't quite sure what to say to her. He wanted to stay and he would. He just couldn't think of how that would go and what about lisa? She was such a sweet girl and so very nice to him, not to mention a few other things. Oh well, What people didn't know wouldn't hurt them. One shouldn't be to surprised by his thoughts either because he was after all, a bad person.
"Let's see if we can't find a place to stick me?" He never really thought about her having a daughter in the moment. He never thought to ask about her or anything else to do with Emery. It might have seemed rude to some people but he just didn't bring it up. he let it go, let it be. "Maybe i can try to be a decent person all over again? Spend some time with you and whomever you have in your life. I mean, If that's ok, Em?" He had turned from her as he began to speak again. he went over to a nearby shelf and began fiddling with something on it. He seemed a bit nervous about the way she would answer or react and all the while the thought of kissing her never left his mind for a second.

I don' t know if she is ready to even entertain the thought.. Truthfully I'd suggest you allow me to break you being around her..
Her blond brow arched at the concern that was evident on his face. Part of her heart ached at seeing that concern and worry in Alex as he had once upon a time at least to her appeared to be one that didn't seem heavily hindered with concern, he always appeared to Emery as confident (even at times arrogant). Which was of course his appeal as was that smug ease that was always evident in Linus as well.
Emery simply didn't have a need for insecure men she needed someone strong and steadfast to keep up with her, after all in the emotional world of Emery's when she attended Hogwarts was not for the faint of heart she had issues of her own without concerning herself with the worries of a man that was suppose to be strong. Least that was how her mind thought in those years prior to Rose's conception. But it explained on why she didn't fall for the 'Good Guys' she knew the truth the good ones would only end up trampled with her.
What was left was what was very deceptively appearing good girl, Emery was good, then again that is exactly what she allowed others to see, it served her purpose to appear that way.. Emery learned early one that people tended to allow you more ground and lighting boundaries if you appeared un-harmful. So with many she could turn on that lovely dumb blond charm. However with Alex it was wasted, there was no need to appear something she wasn't with him. Just like he should know that with her there was no need for false civilities.
"A decent person?" She played the words around testing them and it didn't feel right it stuck and annoyed.. She gave a sigh pulling the iron gate that separated the store's back room from the hall that contained the stairs to her flat she motioned him to follow. "Wasn't aware you stopped being a decent guy Alex.." She fixed him with a speculative glance and added teasingly.. "Don't know if I should trust you with my virtue, with you forgetting how to appear decent..Might find myself ravaged in the night.. and then there goes my plans to join a nunnery when Rose hits eighteen..
Sighing as the worry remained and looked to see if any humor still lingered.. " How about you be you, and I'll be me.. Flaws and all.. Because where you might be up to playinging like Merlin tonight, I dont' think I can spare the energy to be a someone I'm not.. So brace yourself Lov. Emery bowed down at the stair way that lead to her flat..
There is probably Bonnie witch toys under my dinner table.. My Laundry is probably still being scrubbed by a cauldron, and worse of all I STILL CAN'T COOK but I have stuff to make you a grill sandwich... I've got pull away bed for you to rest.. So yeah your not screwing me Alex.. " She smirked.. " Unless you perfer the couch.." It is then that she realized how things came out worded and she sputtered adding quickly. " Screwing me out of my bed.... Thats what I meant.."
notes:GOD THIS blew.. Sorry..
