Hagrid was sitting in his hut and enjoying a nice tea. Yes, even one as wild and unrefined as Hagrid enjoyed a good tea. He had just done a great deal of prep work on the grounds for the end of the term and planned to do some more. From there, he would go out into the woods and check on his creature friends. A typical day for the Half-Giant. And of course he'd probably pop into the Hogs Head in the evening for a few ales. But for not, he was just resting a bit. At his age, resting was far more welcomed than it used to be. He sat and watched his Boarhound Sniffer as the dog lied in the corner eating his lunch. "Ya hang about here far too much now, ya know that, ya old coward?" he said, his voice not at all angry though. "You need to get out and get some proper exercise, you do. Can't let them badgers bother ya forever." The last time the two walked together, Sniffer had decided to explore a badger hole and the results were not good. AUBREY RENEE WELLES

Aubrey was finally out of classes for the day and decided now was the time to go visit her favorite half giant and see Sniffer. She loved the pair and adored spending time around the like minded man and his cowardly hound. She came pelting down the path, brown hair flying wildly behind her, skidding around a bend in the path and laughing. "SNIFFER!" She hollered, calling to the Hound in hopes he'd come running as she had a good rapor with the animal. She waved to Hagrid as she came to a stop, panting and laughing. "Sniffer, exercise?" She caught the tail end of his words and laughed. "That would be a miracle."
She pet the dog on the head and beamed at the man before her. "Figured I'd come down to see you." The affection was clear in her dancing hazel eyes and her smile infectious. "Classes are done for the day, So I'm free to do as I want before I pour myself over books to prepare for exams." Aubrey gave a fake shudder and laughed again. "Not totally worried about them past potions." She dropped down beside Sniffer, petting him and paying attention to him, kissing the top of his head. She looked back to Hagrid and blinked. Usually Aubrey was popping around the school getting into things she shouldn't be as human or fox. She had been over joyed when she finally learned how and had come straight here to tell the man of her success. This was almost her second home as the man before her loved all magical creatures and Aubrey did as well, until they were Giant Spiders.

Hagrid chuckled when his guest said Sniffer getting exercise would be a miracle. Aubrey was right, and of course she was more than welcomed in his hut. Meanwhile, Sniffer ate up the affection she gave him. He might have been afraid of badgers, but never the attention of a friendly student. Hagrid was always honored when the students wanted to spend time with him, whether it was a visit or just walking up to say hello to him on the grounds. He loved the students at Hogwarts and made it a point to know all their names, and was quite good at doing so even at his age. "Hello, Ms. Aubrey," he said. "And 'course you're welcome to hang about here. Would say to come on in to rest yerself, but I see you and old Sniffer are quite content right now."Hagrid finished his plate and placed it in the old sink behind him. He sat back down and smiled at Aubrey again. "Now then, what brings ya here this fine day, 'sides just wantin' to rest a bit before yer studyin'?"AUBREY RENEE WELLES

Aubrey smiled and pet Sniffer once more before rising and walking into the hut. "I just enjoy spending time down here with you, not that I don't like my peers." She smiled again and took a seat. "Plus, I wanted to know if you had any new books on Dragons, I've read all the ones the library has, well, that they'll allow me to see." She winked and then leaned back in her chair. "Admittedly I've read most of the restricted ones too, no, don't ask me how." She had her ways and she was sure the half giant had an idea. Another grin split her lips and lit her eyes as she looked back out the window.
"I'm hoping to find a job over the summer interning for someone who works with Dragons, and I don't know if maybe you could help me find someone." She turned to look at him and gave him a hopeful look. "I do not even know how to go about finding someone and last year is my last year." With a sigh she ran a hand through her hair. "Dad doesn't pay attention to me and I've been taking care of myself for years now, so why not a place of my own after I graduate?" She made sense. The party girl had a sense of responsibility and it showed right now. She would understand if he didn't, although one could hope.
"If not, I completely understand." She gave him a soft smile and crossed one knee over the other. She enjoyed time down here and Hagrid understood her and her love of the scaled beasts and their like. "I can't talk to anyone else about wanting to work with them, they all look at me like I've gone mad." she gave a small giggle. "They ask if I'm scared to get eaten, like it's a hundred percent chance of happening." She winked. "I'm too quick witted for that." She leaned her elbows on the table and watched him. Truth be told she looked up to the man and would have worked with him if she could have.

Hagrid smiled a big smile when Aubrey said she liked spending time at the hut. "Well, that's right nice of ya, Aubrey, right nice of ya," he said. He then raised an eyebrow when she spoke of books on dragons, if he had them, and even said she was looking at restricted books. "Well can't say I approve of ya doin' that. 'Course I won't ramble on 'bout it to anyone, but still you best be careful readin' them restricted books. Anyway, I think I have a few here and abouts."He rose and went over to a small bookshelf... well small to him. Sniffer watched curiously, but stayed by Aubrey. Hagrid listened to her issue as he searched. He turned and looked at her. "Sorry to hear 'bout your dad, and I do know quite a few who deal with dragons, that's dangerous work, that it, dangerous work, especially for a young lass like you to be considerin' now." He then chuckled about Aubrey being quick-witted. "That you are, Ms. Aubrey. Trouble is... some of them dragons are quick-eaters." Hagrid then went back to looking. AUBREY RENEE WELLES

Aubrey listened and smiled. "It's the truth, you're one of the select few people who understand me. You don't think I'm mad for being fascinated by Dragons." She blinked and then shook her head. "Tell on me if need be, if they ask, tell them. Don't get into trouble for me. I wouldn't be able to stand myself." Aubrey was watching the man intently and seriously hoped if they came snooping about, which she doubted, that he would rat her out, she wouldn't even be mad. "I know you don't condone it. I know I shouldn't be doing it. Although, if I'm going to be working with them," She shrugged "I should know as much as possible, especially the stuff they don't want us to know. It's usually gruesome, but it prepares me." She blinked though and smiled when he stated he knew people.
"I know it's a bit much, but it's what I want to do! I want to watch them, learn about them, draw them and maybe write a book about them!" She put her hands on the table and watched the man imploringly. "No worries about my Da, He's always been too busy for me, raised myself. Think I did a good enough job." Another shrug and dancing hazel eyes lit up as he looked. "Yay! Thanks. Anything I can do for you?" She wasn't beyond doing most anything the groundskeeper asked of her. She enjoyed running errands for the man and wanted to do as much for him as he did for her.
"Mmmm, I know! They're amazing! Thing is, I can do this." With that she stepped back from the table and took the shape of the little Silver Fox. She leaped onto her chair and yipped before shifting back to the girl. "Makes it easier to run away and hide someplace they can't fly and follow me." She winked and leaned back in her chair again. "Although you already knew I could do that." A giggle escaped her and she beamed at Hagrid. She was glad he worked here and that she could spend time with the man. "How have things been down here, though?" She asked, watching him.

Hagrid turned to Aubrey again when she spoke of him not getting in trouble for her because he would tell no one about her reading restricted books. "Don't you worry yourself another minute, Ms. Aubrey," he said. "'Sides them books are there for a reason, ain't they? Just as much as any other book in that library. Just be careful which ones ya pick up. Some of'em don't like to be read by just anyone... and they ain't afraid to let ya know."
Hagrid expected Aubrey to defend herself and perhaps he was a bit harsh on her. After all, those who were dragon trainers were once young like her, and he was sure someone told them it wasn't wise. And he could hear the passion in her voice about it. Hagrid sighed, then spotted the books he was looking for. Turning, he handed her the books before sitting down. "If yer that determined to train'em, Ms. Aubrey, then so be it," he said. "But know that it takes more than readin' them there books to get a proper knowledge of it all. There's far more to it than that. Perhaps I can arrange for one of my trainer friends to talk to ya."AUBREY RENEE WELLES

Aubrey nodded when he told her not to worry herself about it and laughed when he stated some of them would let her know. "Trust me, one of them bit me. Bit. Me." She showed him the small scar on her thumb and squeaked happily and hugged the books to her chest. "Thank you so much, Hagrid. Really, you know if there is ever an errand you need run or the like, I'm your girl!" She set the books down and playfully saluted him before beaming at the big man. When he stated he'd have a friend come talk to her she widened her eyes and wanted to toss herself at the man and hug him. "Thank you and I know. I'll have to do a lot of trial and error on the job. I know I'll do a blood lot of running too." She huffed some hair out of her face and nodded.
"You know I don't do a thing half way, It just doesn't sit well with me. If you're going to do it, do it all the way or not at all!" She beamed at the man again and winked. "I know how dangerous they are, I know I sound mad and I know they aren't kittens." She got serious. "I heard what happened at the Tri Wizard Tournament way back when with Harry Potter. I know they'll kill me." Her hazel eyes were hard, but not unfriendly, merely determined. "They scare me a little, but that's healthy, fear will keep me alive. It's when I no longer fear them that I'll be smart and give it up." She nodded to him and looked down to Sniffer. She looked back to Hagrid then and smiled brightly. "Plus, I look up to you. You do so well with all the animals! I want to have a rapor with a lot of them like you do. Even the Hippogriffs bow to you." She watched him in awe and leaned back in her seat. "I know it took time, a lot of time and I'm thankful for every bit of help you give me." She meant it too, watching him with clear admiration in her expression.

Hagrid looked at the bite mark when Aubrey showed him. "That is a nasty one, isn't it?" he said. "Reckon I know the book what did it too." He then laughed when Aubrey promised to be of service to him for finding her books and soon followed that with a hug. " Now don't go worryin' yerself 'bout paying me back, Ms. Aubrey," he said. "Friends don't do things for friend expectin' them to pay'em back. You enjoy them books now, and bring'em back when you take a notion to."Hagrid listened to her confidence in dealing with the dragons someday, and even brought up a story that got Hagrid's mind going back to the Harry's Fourth Year and the Tournament. "I still remember that lil incident quite well," he said. "I darn near thought them dragons were gonna go mad and come after the whole lot of us. They didn't realize the whole business was a game."Hagrid beamed when Aubrey said she looked up to him. That always made is heart feel good when a student showed appreciation to him. He never demanded it of anyone, bit graciously accepted. "Just years of practice is all it is," chuckled Hagrid. "Quite a bit of'em too, eh?" He then laughed a bit harder. He then calmed. "I think yer gonna make a fine dragon trainer, Ms. Aubrey."AUBREY RENEE WELLES

"Mmmm, it was, didn't even know the blasted thing had teeth!" She laughed and winked at Hagrid. "Managed to get it to listen to me though, Merlin knows how!" With a snort she nodded. "No, I know that, but I like making you happy!" She meant it and it showed. "I also like being useful." She gave a sharp nod and looked down to Sniffer and gently dropped down to pat the dog on the head and love him some more. "I can't believe next year is my last." She sounded sad about it for a moment and then sighed, just her eyes watching him over the edge of the table. "I'll have to visit, you won't get rid of me." She jokingly waggled her eyebrows at him before disappearing again to love on Sniffer.
She shuddered when he stated he had been there. "Read it was nasty scary." Again her eyes appeared at the edge of the table by her seat. "Must have been amazing though." Again she was back down with Sniffer and laughing. "Merlin knows how that looks for you." She was giggling and rubbing behind Sniffer's ears, finally scooting so Hagrid could see her and her still be able to pay attention to the hound. "Better." She beamed and began absently petting sniffer down his back. "Thank you, Hagrid. I hope so. They're amazing creatures, fascinating." Her grin was infectious. "I'd rather be running for my life than sitting behind a desk anyways." She meant it. The idea of a desk job horrified Aubrey to no end and she just wouldn't do it. She might have been a bit of an adrenaline junkie, though she'd never admit to it.

Hagrid could use some help here and there, but he didn't want to burden Aubrey with all her exams coming up, along with her final year at Hogwarts which to many was the toughest. "You focus on them exams right now, lass," he said. "Though if ya want to join me as I check on the garden and the animals, yer more than welcome."Hagrid smiled about her offering to visit him after she graduated. "Anytime, Ms. Aubrey, anytime," he said. He looked over to see Sniffer taking in the affection. "Yer gonna spoil him if you ain't careful."Hagrid nodded about the incident and how scary it was. "We got them dragons taken back right away," he said. "Shame though Had they been brought here for other reasons, who knows we coulda trained'em. Strongly misunderstood creatures dragons are."Hagrid just smiled and shook his head as the love Sniffer was getting. And he could understand what Aubrey meant about doing something like training dragons as opposed to an office job. "Can't blame ya for that, 'specially since I can't fit very well behind a desk," he said, chuckling. "Was mighty fortunate when I taught Care of Magical Creatures that most of my classes were outside."Hagrid then looked at the time. "Well, 'bout time to go see how Boldfeather and his flock are gettin' about," he said, speaking of his favorite Hippogriff. "Care to join me?"(Hehe, really wanted to do a scene with Boldfeather) AUBREY RENEE WELLES

Aubrey play pouted at him and then nodded. "I know, exams are important." When he stated she could follow him to go check on the animals she jumped up and nodded. "I'd love to!" She adored checking on the animals with him, as most of them loved her. She was still working with the Hippogriffs and only when Hagrid was about. She laughed and looked down at Sniffer.
"Me? Spoil you? Too late, right?" She leaned down and kissed him just above his nose and stood up again. She nodded when he started talking about the Dragons again. Misunderstood, that they were. "They are, some people just think they're monsters, fire breathing monsters and that's not the case. They're actually really intelligent, to what I've read." She beamed at him and leaned against the wall. Aubrey nodded and sighed.
"I don't like boring, a desk job would be boring to me. My friend Mimi used to call me an adrenaline junkie, well, maybe she's right." She shrugged and then nodded with gusto as he stated he was going to check on Boldfeather and the other Hippogriffs. "Of course! You know I like running around with you and checking on all the animals, especially the Hippogriffs." She looked down to Sniffer and winked. "You going to come with us, Sniffer?" She was sure he might want to stay here if Badgers scared him.

Hagrid smiled at the little compromise. Aubrey would focus on her exams, but could join him to watch over the animals at times. The two had a knack for working things out. He was glad Aubrey would be there another year. "So be it, then," he said. "I gather you know the times I go out by now?"Sniffer licked Aubrey after the kiss, and Hagrid muttered a bit at the big line of slobber he left on her face because of it. He handed her a towel. "Right you are," he said about the dragons. "Darn bright creatures they are. Granted some are harder to train than others, but all bright creatures nonetheless. After all, they was around runnin' things long before our lot was." To many wizards and witches, dragons were seen the way many Muggles say dinosaurs, feeling the once "ruled the Earth." Hagrid then chuckled again. Aubrey always put him in high spirits. "I reckon it would do my heart rough to see ya stuck behind a desk, ms. Aubrey," he said. "But I doubt I'll ever have to see that."
Sniffer thought it over when Aubrey invited him to come. Hagrid hadn't gotten him out of the hut outside of just far enough to... well do what dogs did outside. Then again, Hagrid didn't pet and cuddle with him like Aubrey did. Hagrid sighed as Sniffer rose and followed Aubrey out, but also smiled. Out in the forest, Hagrid saw Boldfeather alone. Boldfeather tended to stay away from his flock a good part of the day, choosing to spend time with Hagrid instead, hence why he was Hagrid's favorite. Hagrid greeted the Hippogriff in the proper manner and motioned for Aubrey to do the same. AUBREY RENEE WELLES

Aubrey nodded. "Yep, I know when you check on them." She grinned and looked down to Sniffer as he stood and she took the towel, cleaning off her face. "Really, dog slobber doesn't bother me. No animal slobber bothers me." She gently folded the towel up so the slobber wouldn't touch the table and laid it down, gently. "Thanks for that." She smiled at him, eyes dancing and then when Sniffer stood to follow them her grin widened. "Well then, that's unexpected." She teased, scratching the hound behind the ears as they walked. "Mmmm mmm, Nope, that's something that will never happen. I'd work as a waitress before that!" She snorted and kept moving. "Dragons are gorgeous animals, smart, strong and rather quick witted, some of them anyways. They're just as smart as us, I reckon, if not smarter." She shuddered and followed him toward the forest. She was getting excited about seeing the Hippogriffs again. Once they got there she saw the handsome creature and took Hagrid's que, bowing as he did and not rising until Boldfeather bowed back. She knew how to handle Hippogriffs. It was bad if they did not bow back and that usually ended with someone getting ripped up under those wicked talons. She had never been on the receiving end of that and she never wanted to. She was always careful around the animals, knowing most of them were wild and unpredictable. She couldn't rightly expect to be a Trainer if she couldn't even read the creatures she was to work with. Long heartbeats seemed to pass as she waited for the bow back, her heart hammering in anticipation. RUBEUS HAGGER HAGRID

Hagrid watched as Aubrey had approaching a Hippogriff down to a science. The girl knew what she was doing, and more and more he believed she was go on to be a fine dragon trainer. Boldfeather slowly but surely bowed back, and then made his way over to her. Once someone had shown the proper greeting, Boldfeather always became curious about them, even though he had seen Aubrey before. Hagrid smiled at the exchange, and then a gleam of mischief formed in his eyes. He then innocently looked about. "Lovely day, ain't it?" he said. "Lovely, lovely day... fine day for a Hippogriff ride I'd say." However, unlike he did with Harry Potter years ago, he didn't force Aubrey to get on Boldfeather. Merlin knew he was too old to be picking up students out of nowhere. So he just smiled at Aubrey. "Reckon we could find a volunteer here and about?"AUBREY RENEE WELLES
