Helena had taken a break from studying to let herself relax. She had been studying a lot. She wanted a break. She wondered down from the Gryffindor tower to the seventh floor. Her father had told her about the Room of Requirements. She would hide out and practice wandless magic. She had also found a piano that she became quite fond of. She hadn’t event old her mum and dad about her love of music.
She slipped into the room. She maneuverer her way around the room. The random piles of stuff appearing out of nowhere. Thank Merlin she none of them have appeared on top of her. She hoped she hadn’t jinxed herself thinking about it. She found her way farther into the room where the old piano was. She had figured it was from the 1940s, after looking up pianos in the library.
Her slender fingers eased crossed the keys. She sat down on the bench. She started to play a few notes until she figured out what she wanted to play. The song came into her head. A song she heard over the muggle radio. She tapped her foot to the beat. The song played inside of head. Her hands just responded from memory. She had taught herself from just listening to music. She couldn’t read sheet music but she listen to songs and know what to play. She could write music and remember what it sounded like but couldn’t tell you the cord she played.
She was slowly loosing herself in the music. She let herself go into the music. She pulled her hair out of her messy ponytail. She let her tousled hair fall down. She could feel the music. She smiled softly. She wished she was confident enough to show people what she could do. She was too afraid of what others thought and said. Maybe one day. One day.
Funny thing she is singing about love when she had never been in love. But that doesn’t matter. What matters is if you love the song and you can relate to it. She loved the song. She felt every single word like it was her own.
She didn’t know why this song spoke to her the way it did. She wished she knew. Maybe she could explain her love of music to her father that way. She didn’t know why she loved it so much. She just did. She didn’t know what she was so afraid of. Her father would support her no matter what. Her mum was up in the air. But since when did she care what her mother said.
She wondered if any of her grandparents had been good with music. She’d like to think maybe her Grandmum Alice, did. She had been told she was like her Grandmum Alice. Some people would insulted being compared to an insane woman but not her. She admired her grandparents. The older she got, the prouder she was of her family’s history. She was starting to learn that it wasn’t that bad being compared to her family. Her family was brilliant so maybe it wasn’t that bad after all.
Dreams of Kasey had been haunting, taunting her. She kept imagining Kasey laid dead on the floor. The fear of losing her best friend was very real to Helena. She knew deep down that she may find Kasey but not before it was too late. It was one of those things you just knew. She kept thinking back of the days when they were carefree jumping on Helena’s bed.
Helena had a reason to fight. She had a reason to be on the light side. She had a reason for learning wandless magic. Kasey was the reason she had to fight for what she believed in. Her family history is the reason she has to be on the light side. She had to learn wandless magic to prove to herself she could do anything she wanted to. Everything had a reason and effect.
When she sang everything else melted away. She was an average girl. She didn’t have to worry about anyone or anything. If she made a mistake, oh well. Every day she felt like she was losing a piece of her. But when she sang she gained it all back. She didn’t have to pretend to be something she wasn’t.
She was learning who she was and where she belonged. Everything had changed this year and she wouldn’t have it any other way. She had to let go of the old her. The person who cared way too much about others words and thoughts. She wished she could be as carefree as her other Gryffindor friends or as brave and reckless. But that wasn’t her. She couldn’t be something she wasn’t.
It’s all about learning to change and adapt. Change wasn’t an easy thing for Helena. But change is part of growing up. Helena was forced to change. She was forced to adapt to the real world, not her idealist dream world. She loved her parents but they kept her in a tiny bubble from the real world. It made it even harder to adapt. But it wasn’t as hard when she stopped trying to be someone else.
As the vocals ended she started to play the piano solo. Music in any form was beautiful. The wizarding community hadn’t gotten to admire it’s beauty. She wanted to change that. She wanted to share her love for the art. She wanted to show people that wizard and muggle culture could mix.

Right from the start
You were a thief
You stole my heart
And I your willing victim
I let you see the parts of me
That weren't all that pretty
And with every touch you fixed them
You were a thief
You stole my heart
And I your willing victim
I let you see the parts of me
That weren't all that pretty
And with every touch you fixed them

Now you've been talking in your sleep, oh, oh
Things you never say to me, oh, oh
Tell me that you've had enough
Of our love, our love
Things you never say to me, oh, oh
Tell me that you've had enough
Of our love, our love

Just give me a reason
Just a little bit's enough
Just a second we're not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again
It's in the stars
It's been written in the scars on our hearts
We're not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again
Just a little bit's enough
Just a second we're not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again
It's in the stars
It's been written in the scars on our hearts
We're not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again

I'm sorry I don't understand
Where all of this is coming from
I thought that we were fine
(Oh, we had everything)
Your head is running wild again
My dear we still have everythin'
And it's all in your mind
(Yeah, but this is happenin')
Where all of this is coming from
I thought that we were fine
(Oh, we had everything)
Your head is running wild again
My dear we still have everythin'
And it's all in your mind
(Yeah, but this is happenin')

You've been havin' real bad dreams, oh, oh
You used to lie so close to me, oh, oh
There's nothing more than empty sheets
Between our love, our love
Oh, our love, our love
You used to lie so close to me, oh, oh
There's nothing more than empty sheets
Between our love, our love
Oh, our love, our love

Oh, tear ducts and rust
I'll fix it for us
We're collecting dust
But our love's enough
You're holding it in
You're pouring a drink
No nothing is as bad as it seems
We'll come clean
I'll fix it for us
We're collecting dust
But our love's enough
You're holding it in
You're pouring a drink
No nothing is as bad as it seems
