The year had gone by so fast. This year was a crazy whirlwind of feelings and honestly Lorcan didn't believe he was as ready for it as he had once thought. Here in several weeks his relationship with his girlfriend was going to come to an end and he wasn't quite sure if he was prepared for what was to come here soon. There had become a day where even Lorcan had managed to make up with Caesar for problems in the past, or frankly for Lorcan's rather large mouth.
He'd spent plenty of time with Rosalie but N.E.W.T.s were among them and that meant what ever seventh year knew, they were about to embark on an adventure of the lifetime, the start of their adult lives. Sure Lorcan had been seventeen for the entirety of his seventh year at Hogwarts but soon he was actually going to have to be a productive citizen. He had no idea how well that was going to work out. He'd considered traveling for the summer, maybe for the first year being out of school to take his mind off of the inevitable heartbreak. But for now it was time to finish up with everything. Lorcan didn't study, or at least not very often. He was intelligent but he didn't take the time to study, time was better spent elsewhere, this was probably why he would be living his life off a barkeep's wage for most of his life because he didn't care enough about exams, nor did he take enough classes for such important things in his life.
Lorcan had managed to find himself out and about the school grounds with not much too do. He had considered popping open a book for a read but that thought rather quickly left his mind. In the end he decided that relaxing up against a tree in a courtyard was quite a relaxing thing to do. So the seventh year Ravenclaw made his way to the middle courtyard and found himself among other students who were poured over their books and he placed his bag beside himself and crossed his arms as he sat down and leaned against one of the small trees in the courtyard. His eyes closed against the light, his ears still aware of his surroundings and he listened carefully to the noises around him. His mind creating little pictures to match the sounds. A faint smile rest upon his lips, this was living. This was what life was supposed to be. Just to be able to relax out in the sunlight, that was one of the most amazing things that he could ever do. Lorcan was happiest when he was outside relaxing. This had always been Lorcan's happiest place.

If there was one thing that Rosalie Posey Harper had always overlooked in her youth and greatly appreciated nowadays, it was the importance of naps. Between all of her classes and filing applications for proper training to be a Healer and the stupid Wedding, she had scarcely gotten to take a nice nap. It was horrible. It was hell. It made this nice, sunny day all the more appreciated. She had finished all of her homework, and she had already sent in several applications. Realistically, she should be emailing her mother and asking if there was anything else she needed to do, but she couldn’t resist spreading a blanket out by the lake.
So, even if she couldn’t get straight to sleep, she still appreciated laying out in the sun. Even with people passing by and muttering under their breaths, it was nice. It had become somewhat of a common occurrence to hear her name. There were all sorts of rumors going around these days. Some of them hit too close to the truth than others. She still wasn’t entirely used to it. No matter; there were only a couple of weeks left until the term was over. From then, her life would be entirely different. The opinions of a couple of younger students wouldn’t matter to her. She very much wished that the same logic could be applied to the here and now, but she knew better than to get her hopes up. It wasn’t until someone mentioned, “And Lorcan right over there.” that she let her eyes pop open. Rosey sat up quickly and let her eyes scan over everything in front of her until they landed on the person she wanted to see. Without a second thought, butterflies erupted nervously in her stomach. She could always run back indoors and pretend that she didn’t see him.
Things would be easier that way, probably. But, and it had become more apparent to her, she wasn’t the type of person who liked to live the easy way. She stood up and folded her blanket over her arms, straightening her clothes out and walked calmly. It seemed like, with every step, her heart would beat faster and faster. She tried to tell herself that she was crazy and that it wasn’t really the case, but she could feel it, especially when she got close enough to him. For some reason, seeing him with his eyes closed and that peaceful look on his face; the faint smile on his lips that almost made her believe there was nothing wrong in their little world. She almost turned and marched away on her heel. Better to let him stay happy; better to stay away. Better to wish that Rosalie Posey Harper had never fallen for Lorcan Elijah Scamander. Better to wish that she had been sorted into Slytherin and had remained a proper, pureblooded girl like her childhood friends. But, wishes weren’t exactly real, not even for witches. “Somehow, I knew that you’d be snoozing out here.”

Lorcan was, well to simply put it, a free soul. Never had any boundaries held him within, still he always had his ways. This was his last year, this was the last time he'd have to study for an exam and this was the last time that he had to focus on school work, well this would be the last time he would be asked to study for exams.
One thing that Lorcan couldn't quite get used to was rumors inside this castle. Even though mostly they blew over his shoulder sometimes there were the ones you couldn't avoid. Like the ones about Rosalie, Caesar and himself. Everyone knows of that story. Most people didn't know about the Caesar Montague part though. Mostly the story was Rosalie and Lorcan were dating but Rosalie was to be married to another man. The story was factual, Lorcan loved Rosalie, but as each day went by and he knew very well that love was going to have to come to an end.
Leaned back against the wall his blue eyes closed quite relaxed. He wasn't paying much attention to anyone around him, nor to the conversations that students were having. His arms folded across his chest and his head drooped downward. The blonde let his mind empty as he began to drift off. Unfortunately his mind never got far enough to completely drift off. No, instead his drifting off was interrupted by a voice that he was so happy to hear. His blue eyes popped open and fell upon Rosalie Harper. This was the girl that he had fallen in love with.
There were so many things that the group probably wish didn't happen. Like Rosalie and Lorcan never falling for each other. That was probably the biggest thing. He didn't regret their relationship one bit, but sometimes, even the best of things shouldn't have necessarily happened. Lorcan knew he'd complicated things in the end. And he had wished that things between Caesar and himself were better. In the end though, these times never would Lorcan regret, but soon enough they would come to an end. Here in so little time they would board the train to London and arrive in King's Cross and most likely never see each other again. Now was the time to enjoy this little time they had left.
”Somehow, I knew that you'd be snoozing out here.” Lorcan chuckled and shook his head. ”It's the only proper way to study for exams, sleep until they're over,” he told her. He pushed himself into a more appropriate sitting position before reaching up around her waist. He looked up at her. ”Miss Rosalie Harper, what are you doing out here not studying for your exams?” he asked with a grin. He took her hand and gently kissed it.

Rosalie wanted to scream more than she wanted to do anything else. No, that was a lie. She wanted to run away and find a nice little hole, crawl into it, and live there for the rest of her life - or until she wasted away into nothing. That would make all of her problems go away, wouldn’t it? If she were in a hole somewhere, she wouldn’t have to break Lorcan’s heart. She wouldn’t have to marry Caesar. She wouldn’t have to have an awful lavender wedding because that was what her mother wanted. Everything in her life would be about living in that hole and pretending like nothing else was wrong. She might even listen to a couple of showtunes. But, even as the thoughts crossed her mind, she knew she could do nothing of the sort. She had already filed her papers in to become a Healer at St. Mungo’s. Or, at least to get her training done. She would have to be the worst person in the world to reject a job that helped people, especially when it had been something she had been passionate about. Instead, she smiled a little wryly and plopped down next to Lorcan, drawing her knees up next to her, wrapping her arms around her legs, and resting her chin on her knees. “Or, you can do what every other sane person is doing and open up a book."
She tended to forget, as well as the beauty of naps, that she had a wedding to start preparing for. She had already picked out everything that she could. Even the wedding dress had been picked out. It was hanging somewhere in her room at home. No doubt it was sprawled over her bed. She knew that her mother would do exactly that sort of thing. The woman had, after all, sent her a picture of her in her dress. How she had gotten her hands on it when it had been Caesar who had taken her to that final fitting was beyond her, but there she had been. Brunette and in the wedding dress. She once wrote to Caesar and told him that she had been the epitome of selfish. She’d remained selfish for the rest of the time. But, all three of them had come to the sort of consensus that they were going to have to break it off eventually. It had been Rosalie that had prolonged everything. It had been the Hufflepuff that had driven the two friends apart. She should have put a scartlet A on all of her clothes. And, wouldn’t her mother just find it so scandalous and disgraceful if she charmed her wedding dress red? It would ensue some sort of widespread panic. It was almost worth doing. Instead, she swallowed the lump in her throat and turned her attention back to Lorcan, letting her gaze absorb how happy he looked at that moment. Tired and a little stressed, maybe, but she wa hoping that that had more to do with the upcoming exams than being around her.
“I had to get out of my dorms; out of the library, too.” She admitted, although she couldn’t believe that such words had actually left her mouth. She might not have been quite the little studious student as Thalia and Gisella were, but she tended to keep her greats at a decent grade. Maybe she didn’t have O’s across the board, but her lowest grade was an A. She was pretty proud of that. Although, her mother had made a passing comment that it hardly mattered. Once Rosey got married, she wouldn’t have to worry about it. But, she’d worked so hard to get St. Mungo’s to accept her. She’d already gotten Caesar’s permission to continue her j- She needed to stop. She needed to breathe. She needed to not think about the fact that, in about a month, she would no longer be Rosalie Posey Harper. She would be the younger Lady Montague. “I love you, you know.” She said finally, drawing her knees in closer and lowering her chin so that her forehead rested on her knees instead and she was hiding her face from Lorcan. “I’m so sorry.”
