Sunday mornings were always a happy notion for Nerissa. To her, it was the start of the week, for the girl counted weeks to begin on the weekend and end on the weekend, believing that the days did not seem so dreary if you consider Monday to be the bitter start. Optimism was always her forte thus always woke with the concept of fresh beginnings possibly starting. Dark lashes fluttered open and brown eyes peered up at the ceiling. Her vision was blurry without her glasses, but she could still see the light patterns of the bed canopy above. Sitting up, she peeled back the curtain of the four post bed, brushing sleep out of her eyes. Light filtered through the high windows and perked Nerissa up as she threw the patchwork quilt of her legs. The sight of the light outside brought a rush of excitement in her stomach when she suddenly realised that today was the day! Leaning over to her bedside draw, she sifted through the assortment of little origami birds, sweet wrappers and lesson notes before finally finding the neatly kept envelopes she had stashed for only herself to find. She sat cross legged on her bed, calling out a brief hello to one of her dorm mates that had just got up before withdrawing the most recent letter she had received.
"...Just at the entrance of Hogsmeade at 10.30am. See you there." Nerissa couldn't keep the excitement out of her voice as she whispered to herself the words one Jasper Longbottom had written to her just days before. Quite frankly she couldn't believe it was happening at all. Her little toes wriggled as she beamed to herself, holding her breath to tightly she might just burst. Nerissa had a good hour and a half before they were due to meet, so began her ritual of getting ready. Once she had showered and brushed her teeth - her stomach rebelling against her too much with excited twists and turns - she took to choosing an outfit. Needless to say, her style was always more quirky than most, with outfits that would warrant second glances in both the wizarding world and her own muggle town. It wasn't long before she had become flustered with her clothes, feeling rather frumpy as she threw numerous blouses, dresses and trousers onto her bed. "I have nothing good here to work with!" Rubbing her eyes underneath her glasses, she threw herself down onto the bed amidst the piles of clothes. She lay there solemn in her own drama before realising she was probably creasing every good item of clothing she owned. Leaping up on to her feet, still on her bed, she looked down. "Okay...Nerissa, get your act together. You have-- oh my, you have less than 20 minutes to get ready now!"
If anyone were to peer into the sixth year dorm at that moment the may be amused at the speed she worked at. Flinging clothes back into her trunk, she quickly pulled on a bohemian style plum dress with tulle underskirt, a black kimono and crochet ballet flats. A black onyx necklace dangled around her neck and perhaps it was a blessing she had no time to do her hair (which was usually in some wild plait) for it simply was thrown into a ponytail. Grabbing her bag - a patchwork slouch affair that she flung over one shoulder and contained half her life - Nerissa was out the door. She was definitely running late by the time she reached the town, and her ponytail a little loose. Bits of hair had fallen around her face now and the huffepuff reached up to tug at her hair to make it tighter. Her winsome and bubbly personality was enough to pull off the erratic look, or she hoped so at least. Approaching the town, she slowed her pace. Slightly out of breath, Nerissa took in as much of the April air as she could - partly due to catching her breath but mainly to calm her nerves. This was not just any meeting with a friend after all, this was Jasper. Not just a good friend but someone she kind-of perhaps, maybe, just slightly had feelings for. A hesitant sensation grew in her belly when she looked around, noticing that she had approached the sign that welcomed visitors to the town of Hogsmeade, yet the blond boy could not be found.
Biting the inside of her cheek, she made a noise of worry; "Maybe I got here too late and he left..." She spoke quietly to herself whilst playing with the hem of her skirt to reveal the dark purple tulle underneath. Glancing around, she spun in a full circle to survey the area, and it wasn't until a few girlish lilts and gasps reached her ears that she turned back round. Somewhere amongst the group of three or four girls - all chirping like birds to each other and to their object of admiration - a flash of blond caught her eye. The girls blocked the view of him, but she was almost positive the boy she had been searching for was there. Pressing her lips together, she couldn't help but smile just a little - despite the fact the situation not exactly turning out as she had planned.
TAG: JASPER FRANKLIN LONGBOTTOM hope this is an okay starter! Kind of worked in some of our discussion on the plot page
