It was the bored child's personal anthem ringing loudly again threw the store again..Emery normally had the patience of a saint and could handle just about any annoyance that her daughter flung in her direction.. Sadly because Emery's daughter had been forced to attend work with Emery today the patience level was circling the drain. to the point that another Mum would likely see the rambunctious hexed with a sleeping curse and placed in the closet.

Well that got Emery's attention as she knew Rose had a craft corner full of colorful paints, and quick dry paper but they were upstairs. Well she had hoped they were upstairs but the moment she turned around to see that Rose had not only fashioned a poncho out of the disposable bags used to send customers merchandiser home with, but that wasn't what first caught her eye.. Nooo it was the fact that Rose and plastic poncho were coated with various colors of shimmering paint.

"MERLIN WHAT DID YOU DO? Oh MY GOD GIRL WHAT DID YOU DOOOOOOO?

What the hell is wrong with children today? I didn't do any of this nonsense when I was a tot.. I colored only on paper not on walls the toilet or windows or the fireplace or OH MY GOD NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is that Walburga Blacks Wedding dress petty coat... PLEASE tell me that isn't Walburga's petty coat.. HUNNY Mummy needs you to lie to her.. Tell mummy you didn't paint a picture of Oh My god.. WHAT IS That? Emery looked horrified as the four year old girl smoothed out the folds of white to show her art work at the best vantage, and caught the shape of a male figure and obvious male figure.. WHAT THE HELL DID YOU PAINT ROSE? and Emery followed the pointed finger of the little girl to the corner of the store room where sitting on a small child's stepping stool sat Mrs. Havoc's recently acquired statue of the Egyptian God of Fertility Min who was standing in all his glory obviously the subject of her child's most recent artwork.

Do you like it mummy.. We can hang it up in above the couch.. This image of course pulled from Emery a stunned chuckle as she stared disbelievingly at the petty coat that presented a rather obscene crude drawing made with the most splendid paint colors imaginable .. "Darling do mummy a favor go upstairs and bring me down some parchment and a quill so I can write Mrs. Havoc a letter asking if she would be so kind as to let house keeping crew keep you company, while I figure what to do with this."

Hearing the bell chime that signaled a customer she watched her daughter disgruntle over the reaction she had received over her handy work, stomping her way up the stairs to their private loft. Still ashen faced she emerged from the crimson curtains that separated the stock room from the rest of the shop. Emery's gray eyes flickered to the man who had just entered the shop..

"Might I help you with something Sir?"

She watched him with mild curiosity having seen him around the Knockturn a few times in passing, but never in the establishment she worked in.. It was with a shrewd manner she took in the characteristics of his face, as she tried to place where she had seen him.. She figured it might have been in Burkes as he reflected the clientele that matriculated in that particular store.

Her lips twisted into a sly smile as she contemplated telling him that he might have luck asking ol' Man Burkes's a to view his private collection of Bedroom toys.. But there was a challenge in the man being there asking if they had amazing things all he need do is look around, even simply open his eyes, and gaze about, and he would see various things of wonderment each of a time in which had been long forgotten..

"The Locks belong to Emery Hornvale I'm the resident Historian while the Mr. Havoc is.. Indisposed.. And make yourself at home Sir.. Our shop is filled with times curiosities. However things beyond the silver veil in the back of the store are in the restricted section because they are either posses a bit of .. " She winced as she wanted to say unconstrained evil..

Well they those lovelies have a bit of darker temperament, and need to be handled with hands of knowledgeable lest they be harmful.. For those you need a guide and ours is not for the faint of heart.

Emery smiled darkly as her hand went for her wand not to harm him but part of her reached for it in hopes that he would take her bait and would indeed want to have a look see threw the scary part of the store, as it was her favorite part of the store.. Because what lived within was challenging to hold and to even at times comprehend or believe..

She leaned in and smiled softly.. " You look like the knowledgeable sort who fancies a challenge as well as he does mystery.. Then again you might just be here for more teeth of the victims of Moric the Strange.."

Of course he wants beyond the silver veil.

She observed first till his reaction affirmed it.
Most did because it did house the more sinister parts of the shop, but that wasn’t the reason she liked going beyond the veil she liked the danger, but beyond the veil were the priceless artifacts the artifacts steeped in history. It was those various object that were beyond the veil weren’t just historic but they were unusual, and more often than not a reminder of how fragile life was because it wasn’t just historic value but it was a page of from a dark event in history it was priceless and to touch some of them left you with a feeling..

However it was those feelings that made them dangerous you knew it the moment with some that object was magical and deadly they offered their deadly warning immediately, it wasn’t those that were what she considered most dangerous it was those that spoke and lured in whispered tones. There were only a select few like that and she knew them, but with a few undeniable ones it was a bit trickier.

Truthfully they had a few new objects and two of the three were placed beyond the veil for the feeling they offered… The third because she had a sneaking suspicion of its creation date and knew it was yet another priceless object.
Leading Mr. Garran towards the back of the store where the veil awaited them.. Most people didn’t know what to expect when they heard her speak of a Veil they often times expected a curtain of dark grey lace..

Their veil was no such thing; the veil itself was a sight to behold at the back of the store it sat waiting almost looming stretching from ceiling to floor about 10 feet wide it sat a center piece for the back of the store not leaning against a wall or a fixed to the wall it simply appeared part of the wall for exception of incandescent shimmering gray that appeared solid till you really stood still and watched it move ever so slightly it is only then that it would capture your attention and if you stood watching you would watch several things move in the grey glowing murkiness but one thing never moved from focus of the grey the two pin point size red dots affixed to the bottom of the veil they stood watching as small fish and seaweed and various things moved around the grey murky waters of the veil.

Emery whom had done this more times than she could count forgot that for strangers to the shop it was something that could be confusing looking at large rectangle section of wall that appeared to made of water.

“I’m not a guide I’m a clerk we require a guide though most of the objects we will see are truly dark, meaning ‘sir’ if not accompanied by something also of darkness the objects within will feed on our light they will devour our souls.. However even a dark guide requires a bit of finesse to negotiate what is needed to stay safe within.. Our Veil is our security system nothing enters nothing escapes without our okay and without payment. For the guide thinks the object is his until we offer payment.. We happen to have its currency.”

Emery than called for her daughter her voice calm, but demanding. “ Rose Darling… Mummy needs you to call the Horse..” The little girl soon joined them looking not to perplexed but annoyed. Emery pushed her daughter’s ink black hair back from her face. “It will just take a moment then you can go back to your painting.. “ The little girl nodded and stood before the veil and the pin prick orbs blinked and then slowly grow nearer moving slowly till they stopped a held still reluctantly. And Emery swore beneath her breath and looked down at her daughter.. “Rose I’m sorry, but he is being stubborn, I got to poke you again.. You can poke me too later though.. Okay.. “ The little girl nodded obediently and held her hand out for her mother.. Get the pinky this time I think he likes it best.. “

Emery smiled and nodded and with her wand hissed a soft spell with her wand hovering over her daughter’s little finger and with snap her daughter hissed in a momentary recognition of pain as a small bubble of scarlet blood drew on pinky and Rose looked at her mother and smiled and put her pinky to the veil and pushed her finger inside the murky water before she began to draw a little heart with her finger.. The orbs on in the murky gray began to grow and not so slowly come forward till the orbs grew and a shape beyond the orb began to form into a shape of a not so small horse with eyes of scarlet it zero’d in on the child its hungry glance never falling from the fragile form of Rose till it stood before them all and its head protruded threw the veil and Emery quick as lightening took her wand and slashed at a the mane capturing dark seaweed green like mane in her hand and bottling it she held it up before the enraged Kelpie..

“Thank You Rose you may go back upstairs with Nan.. “
The little girl skipped off towards the front of the store leaving Emery with standing before the horse you will get it back, and a bottle of child’s tears for your trouble.
She didn’t wait for an answer she simply looked at him, and smirked, and pulled a silver chain from her neck and put the kelpie mane hair in a locket and with a several precise flicks of her wand the murky gray veil fell into a pile exposing a door.
“Well I’ll try to avoid asking for a blood sacrifice from you.. But you never know what is on the other side of this thing.. Shall we Mr. Garran?”
