I wannah be somebody who's good enough to be seen with you. Cole wasn’t quite sure what force made him ask Kodiac to the Halloween Masquerade ball. Honestly, he didn’t really know her much. They had a few classes together, but she was a Hufflepuff and he was a Slytherin. They had never spent any time together outside of classes, yet, he was so drawn to asking her. And he was extremely happy when she said yes. Perhaps if that the idea of being asked to the ball by the Perfect Stranger that made her agree to go with him. She didn’t know him either; she had to have some reason. But regardless of why, he was here. The ball had finally started and Cole Nott walked in wearing a traditional black suit, a grey tie and a simple back mask that just covered his eyes. He didn’t want to wear one that was too over the top like –looking around- he saw others wearing. He supposed jewels and sequins were nice on a mask for a girl, but the Beater was no girl. That was obvious.
Cole walked over to the drink table and got himself a drink. He wasn’t sure if Kodiac was here yet, he hadn’t seen her, yet he hadn’t looked much besides while on his way to the drink table. The masks also made it difficult to tell who was who on the dance floor. He tried to remember what his sister was wearing, but he hadn’t seen her dress yet. He was sure later on he’d recognize her by her hair. Cole kept an watchful eye on the front entrance for his date. He wasn’t sure what she would be wearing either, they hadn’t discusses it at all. She was a rather pretty girl though. He was sure that she’d look nice in whatever dress she decided to wear. Though Cole wasn’t sure what this night would hold exactly, he hoped that the two would at least have fun and end on a good note. He’d take the time to get to know Kodiac better as the night drew on.

Come With Me And Let's Just Dance The Night Away Taking a step back from the mirror, Kodi gave her Masquerade Gown a final look over. She had spent only an hour at a dress shop down in Hogsmeade Village when she had discovered it among the rejected gowns that the other girls had tossed. She, herself was surprised to see that no one had wanted it. In her opinion, it was certainly a unique gown; even for a Hufflepuff girl. The gown itself was strapless fit and flair. The color of the material was a deep golden bronze. The top was in the style of a true Renaissance corset with the actual bones in the structure that was tied up tightly in the back. From her mid-section to a little past her thighs, the satin material was scrunched and cris-crossed before softly flaring down and out.
Walking over to her bed, Kodi took a seat to slip on her snow white ankle boots. The boots had a heel of four and a half inches. This would give Kodi a better height advantage since her frame was at a height of only five foot five inches. Zipping up the back of her white, flower laced pattern ankle boots, she gently allowed the bottom of her dress to fall over the boots and hide them. Walking delicately to her vanity, Kodi picked up the silver rhinestone studded mask and tied it to her face. Touching up her make-up here and there after the mask had be tied securely into place, Kodi took a deep breath and made her way out of the girl's dorm. Walking carefully down the stairs in the common room, Kodi smiled as she greeted some of her fellow Hufflepuffs. Everyone she could see looked wonderful. There were an array of masks and gowns. Some were simple while others were complex. The Hufflepuff common room which was normally covered in canary yellow and black had become a sea full of various colors. From Reds, Blues, and Greens to Pinks, Purples, and Yellows. It was actually nice to see for once.
Making her way out of her House, Kodi began her journey up to the Great Hall and the Masquerade Ball. With every step that she took, she become more excited and nervous. Her date was Cole Nott; a Slytherin and someone she did not know very well. Apart from having a few lectures together, Kodi did not know the Slytherin well enough. It had been a bit of a surprised when he had asked her to the Ball. Of course she had said 'yes' to him, but for what reason, she was not entirely sure. Perhaps it was the thought of just going with someone who was a complete and perfect stranger to her that had brought her to say 'yes' to his request. Honestly, the only thing the two had in common was the fact that both of them were Purebloods. Putting those thoughts aside as she came into view of the Great Hall, Kodi ventured in.
Stopping a few feet into the Great Hall to take in the view, Kodi was in awe. The Great Hall had been transformed beautifully. She could see people already dancing and enjoying themselves while others waited for the arrival of their dates from other houses. Looking around to see if she could spot Cole in all the mix of people, Kodi slowly began her journey further into the Great Hall. After having walked the perimeter of the dance floor, Kodi found herself near the refreshments table. Walking over to get a glass of water, Kodi turned her attention back to those around her still keeping an eye out for Cole.

I wannah be somebody who's good enough to be seen with you.
Cole had honestly planned on attending the ball alone. He wasn’t sure what made him suddenly so keen to asking a girl to come with him. Nor, exactly why he had asked a Hufflepuff. Not that he had anything against the house, he knew they were said to be very loyal and kind, he just wasn’t sure if the girl he were going to marry would come from Hufflepuff, he had always believed she’d be a Slytherin like him or maybe even a Ravenclaw. He wanted someone that he could present to his father and be proud of. He didn’t date very much for that exact reason, he wanted to make sure that the girl he was going to date had a chance to be the girl he introduced to his family. He wanted to date his future wife and be successful right off the bat when it came to life out of Hogwarts. He wanted to do something and would make him a nice living and make his parents proud. But more recently, Cole had been considering playing Quidditch professionally instead of taking some Ministry Job.
Cole had just taken a sip of his drink when she walked over. He didn’t notice her at first but he could tell by her light blonde hair. “Kodi?” He asked with a smile on his face. She looked rather pretty. Prettier than he had been expecting. She was a beautiful girl, he’d give her that, and he liked that she knew how to dress up and look nice. “You look beautiful.” He grinned his signature boyish grin and rubbed the back of his neck a little bit, unsure of what to say. He was sure this would have been easier if they had known each other better. “So do you want to dance? Or eat? Or…” He gave a little sigh that he mixed with a laugh. “Whatever you want to do first I’m okay with.” He wasn’t sure what made him so nervous, he never got like this.

Come With Me And Let's Just Dance The Night Away Having swallowed her sip of her water rather quickly as she had been addressed, Kodiac had turned to face the person who had called out her name. Coming face to face with a guy, she smiled politely. It was simple to think that it was Cole Nott. After all, she highly doubted that someone else would have addressed her unless it was one of her fellow housemates. "Good Evening, Mr. Nott," she curtsied politely. She didn't know too much about Pureblood etiquette, but figured this would be a good way to start out the night with him. Bringing herself up from her curtsy, she smiled at him. He looked quite dashing in his simple attire compared to some of the other males in the room.
"Thank you for your compliment, Cole," she replied to her as he spoke of her Masquerade attire, "You look quite dashing yourself tonight. Very different from those school robes and Quidditch uniforms." Playing with a strand of her loose hair, Kodi turned her attention to some of her fellow peers as they danced along the dance floor. Some moving gracefully while others were just all over the place. It was pleasing to see everyone just getting along and having fun. Turning her attention back to Cole, she kept a smile dancing upon her lips as he spoke. It had appeared to her that he seemed to be a bit nervous around her and the truth was, she too was a bit nervous around him. However, it was for a slightly different reason. The reason was his sister Thalia. The two girls just didn't seem to get along very well, but Kodi was not going to let that ruin her night.
"The dance floor seems a bit too crowded at the moment," she stated softly, "Perhaps we should take our refreshments to a near by table and mingle for a bit. You seem a little tense and I know I'm as well. Better to relax a little bit and get a better feel for one another. Wouldn't you say?"

Cole smiled at the curtsy. It was cute. He liked when girls were polite and proper, especially in a formal setting. It was one of the main things he looked for in a girl. Imagine the dishonor of bringing a girl to a formal event with his family or co-workers and having her act a fool and embarrass his name like that. He would never be with a girl who didn’t know how to carry herself in the public eye; any wife of his would need to know how to make a good impression without being forward or impolite. “I mean it,” Cole said when she thanked him for the compliment. “That’s a really good color on you.” He felt his face get a little red when she complimented him. Cole wasn’t one for dressing for attention, he liked to keep it classy, he noticed that some of the schoolmates had done the same; others were definitely going for the costume contest. He smirked a bit when he saw the mask Chaunce Lloyd was wearing. Poor Alietta would have to stay on her toes with a guy like that, but Cole knew his friend could handle it.
Cole couldn’t express his level of gratitude as she insisted that they got a table and just talked for a while. He wasn’t really good at dancing; he never had been, of course, he’d dance with her tonight if she wanted to dance with him, that as the proper thing for a man to do when accompanying a lovely woman to an event. “Sounds good to me.” Cole agreed and led her over to an empty table, he pulled out a chair for her to sit and he sat next to her. “So Kodi, tell me about yourself.” He said with a smirk. Had Cole knew that she and his sister didn’t really get along, he would have thought a little more before he asked her, his sister was one of the most important things to him, but it wasn’t his deciding factor when it came to girls.

Come With Me And Let's Just Dance The Night Away Taking her drink and following Cole over to one of the near by empty tables, Kodi gave a slight nod of her head in thank-you when Cole pulled out her chair for her. Lowering herself down on the to seat gently, she set her drink upon the table a few feet away from her to make sure it did not spill. Turning to Cole as he took a seat next to her, Kodi smiled. Of course the first question out of his mouth had to deal with who she was. But what was the acceptable amount to tell him. She did not want to reveal too much about herself. But she did not want to reveal too litter either. There had to be a good median. Thinking over the question for a few seconds longer, she took a deep breath before deciding to answer him honestly.
"Well, for starters, I am adopted." she spoke, "My birth parents kept me until I was three and then decided that they didn't want me anymore. So they left me at an orphanage in our native country of Italy. I spend almost two years there before I was adopted by a muggle family and brought her to England." Kodi felt this information would be a good start to their conversation. It was revealing a little bit of her childhood past. She was sure Cole would have more questions to linger upon this subject, but she did not want to visit what had been already occurred. "The muggle family that has taken me in has been my rock since they adopted me. Two weeks before the school year started, I gave up my Italian birth name and adopted my adopted parents' name; Thorne." Picking up her drink, she took a few small sips before setting it back down a few feet away from her. "So you have a little insight about me, now how about you tell me a little about yourself, Cole? she inquired, "Then we can take turns back and forth asking questions to expand on what has already been said"

I wannah be somebody who's good enough to be seen with you.
Cole had lived a very calm, very normal life as a child. He was the older of two children, born into a Pureblood Family with Pureblood values, though he and his sister didn’t take to all the values as much as their parents had. But their parents did instill in their children the idea that success in life would bring a perfect life. Cole knew he wanted to be a success. He wanted people to be able to look to him and his perfect wife and want to be like him. However, he wasn’t sure how well that would be while trying to play professional Quidditch. His father would be less than thrilled when he spoke of his career plans; he just hoped that his dad would at least try to be supportive.
Cole took a few sips of his drink as Kodi spoke about her past. “Wow… I couldn’t even imagine that.” He said with a nod of his head as she spoke. He always thought he had it hard with just trying not to disappoint his perfect Pureblood father. It made him see her in a different way, though, she wasn’t some spoiled princess from the French Countryside but he still wanted to be around her. He smiled. “There isn’t much to tell. I grew up with my parents and my younger sister, Thalia. Family is one of the most important things in the world to me. I’m Slytherin Quidditch captain and Beater. Pretty good at school, not so much into parties and such.” She rubbed the back of his neck again. “Okay, questions sound nice, would you like to go first?” He asked.
