You would not believe your eyesif ten million fireflies lit upthe world as I fell asleep Joey had never been more happy in his entire life. He was going to go on a date - a real date - with Anya Higgs. How in the world did he get this lucky? He thought he'd been kissed by a leperchaun in his sleep or something. He'd gotten his mates to pinch him a few times (the lad didn't see too enthusiastic about it) to make sure he wasn't dreaming or anything. He'd even gone and asked his mates if they had slipped and Felic Felicis into his drinks. They, too, had laughed of course and said no. He'd been beaming ever since, though, and he thought he'd done quite a bit better in Quidditch since then. Everytime he'd seen Anya in the hallways, he was sure to smile at her, and if they were ever headed to the same class, he made to walk with her when she was up to it. He'd even done better in his Transfiguration (also read as: his worse bloody subject) class, good enough that he was actually able to transfigure his frog into something that loosely looked like the bird he was supposed to be transfiguring it into.
At the same time though, the bloke had never been more nervous. Even his first time in Hogwarts castle, being sorted and the likes, hadn't made him as nervous. His heart was going at least a thousand beats per minute, and he was nervously humming various songs that he knew as he got changed into his new dress robes. A black dinner suit with a yellow bow tie. A timeless look that never went out of style. And it didn't grab too much attention. He put on his mask, a plain black mask with a golden outline that went around his eyes, and made his way to the common room. He waved a good-bye to Jasper and his other friends that had to trek all the way up the stairs to the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw Common rooms, while he stood and chatted with some of the other lads and glanced at the door leading to the girl's common room upon occasion.
Usually, the yellow of the Hufflepuff basement would calm him down, but today, it was just affing to his nervous-ness. He certainly hoped that he could be good enough for someone as amazing as Anya. He glanced over again towards the barrell-shaped door that led to the dorms, noting that it wasn't moving at that time. Joey looked over to a friend of his that wans't going anywhere, and was instead going to enjoy having the Common Room to himself while the dance went on, and asked him for a sip of his pumpkin juice. Taking a gulp, he gave it back. He almost wanted to sit down, but he didn't want to appear lazy when Anya came. Joey figured he would have to wait a bit, as he had gotten all ready twenty minutes early (hey! the man was nervous, alright?) so he shifted his weight to one foot and thought about Quidditch related-things to keep himself occupied.

Do you want to dance, my Barefoot Cinderella? Anya would never in a million years have believed you if you told her that Joseph Brewer had been worried that she would turn him down to as her date to the dance because she was better than him or out of his league. Anya didn’t think of herself as being better than anybody. Hell, most of the time, she wanted to be her little squirrel friend. That would make life easier, wouldn’t it? How she was better than anyone, she would never understand. Any saw at the bottom of the social ladder. She was Hufflepuff, an embarrassment to her family and she spent her free time dancing with squirrels on the lawns rather than in the common room with friends or at the lake, soaking up the sun with the latest cute boy in the castle.
Any tried to hurry, she knew the ball had already started and since she and Joey agreed to meet up in the common room and walk together rather than meet each other at the ball, she was sure he was standing a floor below where she ran around her dorm, trying to find her lip gloss. He had probably thought she wasn’t coming, or worst, that she was one of those girls who wanted everyone to wait for her and believed that she was never late, or that it was fashionable to be late. She hated those girls. Anya had simply not realized how much time it would take to get ready and started to late, causing her to become extremely overwhelmed by all the prep. “HA!” She smirked and she found the pink tube of gloss on the floor under her bed. She and her dorm mates had turned the room almost upside down trying to get ready for tonight. She wasn’t sure why it was such a big deal, it shouldn’t have been. Yet, she still found herself out of breath as she ran down the stairs.
Due to the fact that she was Anya and that meant she was extremely uncoordinated, her foot slid off a step on the way down and she gripped the railing to catch herself, glad that no one else saw her. She giggled a little and finished walking down, being more careful this time. Anya had made the smart choice to wear flat shoes rather than heals; she was used to walking barefoot through the castle and lawns. Of course, she wore shoes to class, but otherwise, what was the point? “Joey.” She smiled as she entered the common room. “Sorry I’m late… You haven’t been waiting too long, have you?” She asked, still hoping that he wasn’t upset. “Shall we head up?” She bit her lip and shoved her gloss into her handbag.

You would not believe your eyesif ten million fireflies lit upthe world as I fell asleep Joey was thinking about all the fun in store for the night. He didn't really think he was dressed well enough to even think about entering the costume contest (especially after seeing the... thing that Chaunce Lloyd was gluing to his face), but he was looking forward to the other contests. During the summer, the farming community that Joey lived in had Fairs, where most of the livestock and crops were shown off. They also had a fair amount of games and contests, ranging from Milk Can to High Striker to Ring Toss. While Joey's dad was off showing off their prized sheep, Joey and his brothers would often be out playing those games and winning prizes. When the Hufflepuff lad first heard that their would be similar games and contests at this event, he was quite happy. Not because he wanted to win any prizes for himself, or because he wanted to who off the way he could easily ring the bell in High Striker. Rather, he wanted to win something so he'd have something to give Anya to remember the night by. He'd heard that there were going to be games that gave away Pygmy Puffs to the winners, and he hoping to be able to head over there sometime throughout the night.
Then there was dancing. Joey figured that since they were all dressed formally, it wouldn't be anything horribly crazy. But he'd gotten lessons from a good mate of his in everything from ball room dancing (something was was good at, surprisingly enough) to... er, what did she call it again... twerking? He didn't know exactly what that strange dance (he didn't know if it was right to call it that but he didn't know what else would apply) was named, but he did find out after multiple failed attempts to get his legs on the wall that whatever this 'twerking' was, it was not for him. However, he did have a passing knowledge of most all dances if it came to that. He liked the twirling he and Anya had done the other day, as unconventional as it was, and hoped that she would like to do that again. Hell, if she wanted to go outside and find another squirrel, he'd be alright with that too. As odd as it sounded, since that first event he'd been sure to point out every squirrel he could and give it a wave (his mates thought he was nuts... no pun intended).
When Joey saw Anya, he knew his eyes widened. She looked beautiful. Not cute, in that girlish way, or pretty, as in someone who you'd only pay passing attention to, but beautiful. He beamed towards her. "Anya! You look amazing! Gorgeous!" he paused for a moment, searching for a word. "Beautiful!" he said, making a movement to take her hand in his own. "I haven't been here long at all," he said. He'd been standing there for fifteen minutes, but having been absorbed in excitement it didn't seem nearly that long. "I walked Jasper out a bit ago, he's got to head up all the way to the Gryffindor to meet up with Molly," he said, with a smile. He was sort of glad that he didn't have to walk up all that way in the fancy clothing he was wearing.
"Yeah! Unless you want to hang down here and just talk all day," he joked as he started making his way up with Anya. Fortunately, the Hufflepuff basements weren't all that far away from the ground floor and it wasn't all that far. "Anywhere you'd like to head first?" he asked.

Do you wannah dance, my Barefoot Cinderella? Anya had been to her share of fairs in the muggle community during the summer. She didn’t really spend a lot of time at home with her family, mostly, during the holidays she liked to travel with friends or spend time in the local muggle village. Of course, she swore her father thought she was absolutely crazy. His child associating with muggles? Anya hadn’t been raised to hate muggles, she had just heard her father on countless occasions ranting about how much easier it would be if they were able to apperate in front of muggles or do some sort of magic and then erase the muggles memory of the event. However, she herself found them most fascinating. She couldn’t imagine how they got along every day without using simple house hold magic. Or without house elves. Anya of course was very fond of the house elf her family owned. He was treated very fairly by the Hufflepuff, which she felt helped to make up for some of the poor treatment he would sometimes receive from the rest of her family.
Anya liked to dance, she loved it. And if she had known about Joey’s rising fascination with squirrels, she wouldn’t have believed him. She knew that he didn’t know that she was connected to animals; maybe someday she’d share that with him. She wasn’t ashamed about it; she just liked to keep her connection between her and her furry friends. Truthfully, the Squirrel Anya had met that day had taken to following her around everywhere she went and the girl was thinking of taking him as a pet, however, she was sure her roommates would not be so okay with a wild squirrel roaming around their dorm room.
“Thank you, Joey.” Anya blushed. She hadn’t been called beautiful before by anyone but her mother, and Joey calling her beautiful seemed to have a completely different effect on her than her mother saying so. “You look very handsome.” She said and meant it. Her face was scarlet red she was sure by the time he took her hand. She remembered for a moment how she felt when he kissed her cheek the other day and realized it was very similar to how she was feeling now. She had always thought he was handsome, there were plenty of guys who were nice to look at, but this was different, more so. “No, I’m ready to go up. Do you have anywhere else to go?” She asked. She was honestly very excited to see how the great hall had been decorated.

You would not believe your eyesif ten million fireflies lit upthe world as I fell asleep Joey took Anya's compliment with a giant smile. It felt good to be complimented by her. Even if it was among the most uncomfortable get-ups he'd ever been in. Having grown up on a farm, he wasn't one for all this formal stuff. Since he usually only worked the farm in the summer, he'd often be in a sleeve-less shirt or not shirt at all, with ragaband shorts to match the informal wear. It was much more comfortable, and much easier to herd, chase, and sheer sheep without loose or extra clothing to get in the way. So wearing all this extra clothing was, to say the least, a new experience for him. But he figured he'd get used to it. Just like he'd gotten used to his Hogwarts robes. He didn't understand why his mates who'd gone to masquerades and the like before had told him to practice a cooling charm, but just by being in the Hufflepuff Common Room (which was usually a bit on the warmer side of things, but still) with all the excited people excitedly talking and cramping themselves in the room Joey had felt like he was going to melt. Thank Merlin for the charm they'd taught him. He wish he'd known the charms (or that he could use it) back on the farm. It got hot in the summer.
He took Anya's response as meaning that she didn't really have anywhere to she particularly wanted to go. He thought on the various places around the Hall. He figured Jasper would be getting refreshments and snacks with Molly (well, that was the ideal place for him to be; Joey was at least ninety percent sure that if Jasper wasn't out getting drinks he would be out blowing something up with the Weasley lasse.). And he figured Chaunce would take the... thing he glued to his head and go to the costume contest with Ali before anything else. Jason was probably off with that Slytherin lasse he asked out snogging somewhere. Joey loved his friends and all, but on a night like tonight, he figured that his bros would be just as busy as he was. Maybe they'd meet up later in the night. Maybe not. Joey didn't really care. As he and Anya walked through the giant pumpkin cut-out , he let out a 'woah' as he looked around the Great Hall. It was certainly decorated up quite nice. He thought it was amazing. He looked over to see the contest stand where he would be getting sacked in the face by pies later in the nice, and grinned to see a Slytherin lad dodging all sorts of pies. He also saw a lot of other appetizing things that the boy in him wanted to try a hand at. He decided he'd worry about that later, though, as he turned towards Anya.
"Would you like to start things off with a dance?" he asked with a smile, giving a glance over to the dance floor. It looked like they were doing on of the dances that Joey was at least half-way familiar with. He'd heard a rumor about Scorpius Malfoy and his band playing later on in the night, but he wasn't sure if that was true or not.

Do you wannah dance, my Barefoot Cinderella? Anya knew she had much to learn about Joey. And vice-versa. She would have been surprised at how much she didn’t know, having considered them friends before he asked her out. She didn’t know that he lived on a farm and worked there during the summer holiday. That was almost her dream home. She wanted to live somewhere centered on animals or life. And if she had a farm, she’d be able to take care of plenty of animals and make sure they were always happy and healthy. It had always been something that she kind of wanted, but she was sure her father would say it wasn’t suited for a woman like her. She was suited to be a house wife, she was sure. Or maybe a secretary at the ministry of Magic if she really wanted to have a job of her own. She wasn’t sure what her father would say if she told him she was considering trying to teach at Hogwarts after she had graduated.
As they walked into the great hall, Anya’s breath caught in her chest. It was a stunning sight. She wouldn’t have ever believed that this was the plain hall that they ate in three times every day for the last seven years. She smiled at all the people already dancing and having a good time. It was nice to see the whole school together and smiling for once rather than divided and fighting with one another. “I’d love to dance.” Anya nodded and wrapped her hand around Joey’s upper arm, allowing him to lead her wherever he was going to. She didn’t want them to get separated in the crowd, though; they’d find each other again if they did. Anya gave a small laugh as a Slytherin player got hit in the face. It was a little odd, she’d admit, but it was consensual and she was excited to try and hit Joey with one, she could only imagine the look on his face if she actually hit him. She was sure it would be priceless.

You would not believe your eyesif ten million fireflies lit upthe world as I fell asleep The most Joey knew about Anya's family was that they were Slytherins. Which made it more then likely the wouldn't want their daughter to be going to a ball, or any other event, someone lke Joey. He was half-blooded, and had been raised like a muggle, lived on a farm, and didn't have anything to horribly notable under hs belt other then Quidditch. He knew for a fact that not all Slytherins were against muggles and those who were lesser then them, but a fair of them ere. He loosely remembered Justin despite his being two years ahead of him, and if he were to be honest, the lad was a bit intimidating. Joey was pretty sure that Anya's family wasn't pureblood Extremist or anything radial like that, so he really didn't think he had much to worry about over a simple Masquerade. The again, there had already been a duel over the Masquerade, so he couldn't be one-hundred percent sure. He wasn't all that concerned about that now, though. If it happened, it would happen in the future, and he could deal with it then. Right now he was much happier focusing on the dance he was about to partake in.
Joey wouldn't lie, he was feeling far more confident with Anya by him. He walked with her to the dance floor, careful to not loose her, and gave a genuine smile. It was a formal dance, and he heard a slower song being played. So, in the awkward manner of a rather nervous lad with no dancing experience, he put one hand on her hip and took the other one in the air a bit, and started to sway in the manner that most others on the dance floor were. "It's rather relaxing, the atmosphere over here," he said, noting that the slow music characterized the air on the dance floor while there was a bit more hustle and bustle around the concession area. He tried hard to keep his feet steady. Maybe later he would try for a few spins, if that suited Anya. He glanced over at some of the other dancers. "This is my first big dance..." he admitted to Anya sheepishly. His mates told him not to mention that, because she might think him to be inept, but he didn't like hiding things. And he trusted Anya. He didn't really think she'd laugh at him or anything. Maybe sh'e d help him out a bit. Or maybe this was her first dance too. He didn't know, but he did know that keeping secrets was not a thing Joseph Matthew Brewer would ever do.

Do you wannah dance, my Barefoot Cinderella? Anya wouldn’t say that her parents were extremists, per say. She’d say something more like dedicated or devoted to keeping their bloodline as respectable as possible. To them, that meant that she were to marry a pureblood man and have pureblood children. To her, that meant she were to marry a man with a nice personality and one who made her happy… and had good manners, that was important to everyone, wasn’t it? Anya knew that unless her father or brother handpicked her husband-to-be, the man she chose would never be suitable for them to accept as the man she loved. So, she stopped trying to make them happy with her choices and started trying to make her own. However, Anya never lost the drive to make her father see that she could be successful and happy in whatever she chose to do with her life. She had to prove that to him, if not for herself, than to possibly save her little sister from the same thing she went through.
Most years in the past, Anya had opted out of dances for two reasons: the first reason was that she was way too shy to dance in front of a room full of people, and the second reason was obvious, no one had ever asked her before now. And to be honest, she didn’t think anyone was going to ask her. She didn’t mind skipping dances, but that was before she knew how much fun they could be. Standing on the dance floor, swaying with Joey holding her hand was rather nice, she had to say. “It is, isn’t it?” Anya smiled up to him. The girl still wasn’t sure what exactly this was between them or how it would be once the dance was over, but she liked it. She liked the feel of him leading her in a dance, or trying to. “That can’t be true,” Anya smirked, “You’re such a great dancer though.” She said in a way that was a little bit teasingly, but mostly true. She loved the way he was dancing. She almost hoped he wouldn’t want to dance to any faster songs, she was horrible at dancing like that.

You would not believe your eyesif ten million fireflies lit upthe world as I fell asleep Joey remembered his worries about this event. After meeting up with his brother at Hogsmeade (Joey was still pretty shocked that David was going to get married of all things, and it'd really made Joey start thinking about his own life), he'd frantically searched for just the right dress robes. He'd taken dance lessons with his friends, and even willingly had Tarantallegra cast on him for the purposes of said dance. Even if he wasn't exactly sure where this Masquerade put him and Anya, it was his first, ever, and he didn't want it to be a bad memory. Even with all that preparation, he was still pretty nervous. He remembered that he had once been at a Christmas Ball, but he had been alone, and was only 'at' the Ball because it was held in the Great Hall, and he needed to pass through there to get to the Hufflepuff Kitchens. His mates had pulled him into it for a bit, and told him that he should stay, date or not. Seeing as he had just gotten out of the Herbology Green Houses, though, he was told to get out as soon as a professor so much as glanced at him in his dirt-ridden glory. Being here now though, everything was going pretty good, and he could see that he was worrying over nothing. He almost wished he could knock on wood as he thought that though.
Joey loosely remembered hearing that faster music would be playing. He liked some Wrock, he wouldn't lie, but he didn't know if he'd be able to dance to it, especially in the clothing he was wearing now. Whether he did or not would depend on Anya, though. He also didn't know if Scorpius was going to be willing to leave the side of the Weasley he totally wasn't dating long enough to be able to play anything. He'd heard that Quintin Swift might be singing a few things, but he wasn't quite sure. He was enjoying the slow stuff for now though. He liked the dancing, though he was sure his brothers would laugh at him if they knew that. He practically turned into a ball of happiness as he heard Anya's comment. His confidence went to levels that he only felt after a good Quidditch Match. He full-on grinned. "I got a lot of lessons from friends, but yeah, it is my first. Unless that time I awkwardly walked through the Christmas dance last year alone to get to the Common Room counts," he said, grinning as he remembered the terrifying experience. It was easy to laugh at now. "You're a great dancer yourself. Though I'm sure a girl as nice as yourself has been to many dances," he said. She had a very relaxed, nice to be around personality. He didn't remember Anya having gone to any other dances, and it wasn't really a topic that came up casually in conversations, but he was more then certain she had at least been to a couple. He settled into a bit of just merely enjoying the dance. Somethings could be ruined with words, and he felt like this was one of those things.
After a bit, the music changed. Joey looked towards Anya and gave a smile. "Would you want to spin a bit with me?" he asked.

Do you Wannah dance, My Barefoot Cinderella? The closest Any had come to a school dance, was seeing her dorm mates getting ready in a hurry as everyone had been tonight and, on the same night, passing a group of Ravenclaws who had been on their way to the ball while she was on her way out to the lawn, where she spent the evening feeding birds before she nearly froze to death and had to come inside. She went straight down to the common room, ignoring the Great Hall and all its glory as much as possible. The loud music and screaming students were, at the time, anything but appealing. Anya had always been a little socially awkward. She supposed it was due to the fact that she was more comfortable around Animals than she was around people, but she thought she had gotten a lot better over the past year, she had made a true effort to spend more time with her friends and less time with the ones with fur. However, her squirrel made that impossible.
“I took ballet lessons when I was little.” She said with a shrug. She hadn’t been very good, but her mother insisted it would help with her grace and posture. It improved her posture a fair amount, but Anya Higgs was still was graceful as a Hippogriff – not so at all. She was impressed by the amount of time he had spent getting ready for the night, probably more than she had, which made her feel a little bad, she didn’t want him to think he was more invested in the night than she was. “This is actually my first too.” She admitted, feeling her ears turn slightly red. She had never thought she’d be here. She thought boys would stay away due to her weird nature. “I would love to spin with you.” She agreed and smiled to him again. She thought back to the last time they spun together. She had teased him about it, now she was saying the opposite. It was hard to imagine that was merely a week or so ago. Time was moving overly fast, wasn’t’ it?

You would not believe your eyesif ten million fireflies lit up
To say that Joey was surprised that this was Anya's first dance would be an understatement. Sure, Joey knew he never went for the 'popular' girls, but he thought Anya was quiet pretty. Maybe she had a bit of odd quirks. Who didn't? Joey himself had the habit of doing a prayer before every Quidditch game, despite having not gone to any sundae school since he was nine. Why? He thought it gave him good luck. He had another mate who insisted on re-reading the letter her mum had sent her when she was first accepted on the team before every practice and twice before every game. And those were just Quidditch quirks. So what if Anya had more skills with animals then people? The fact that she openly showed that made Joey feel a hell of a lot comfortable around her then he felt around some of his other mates. He figured if someone didn't openly show any weird-ness, then they were probably hiding something big. Or were the type of people who'd end up on those late night muggle shows about killers one day. Or both. He didn't find serial killers to be particularly good dance-partners, so he was glad that Anya was open about any quirks or weirdness she had
Besides, he was better at talking with the plants in the Greenhouses then he was at talking with his own father, so he wasn't particularly in a position to judge much. Especially not on social skills, as shown by his awkwardness. He was a bit surprised by the fact that Anya had done Ballet when she was little. Not that it didn't show or anything. She was a marvelous dancer. Not that the dance they were doing was too difficult, but he figured that she could do a lot more. Joey was surprised his eyes didn't pop out of his head when Anya said this was her first dance. "What??" he exclaimed. "How? A lasse like you?" He stopped himself there, not wanting to make her feel bad or anything. The scorned himself. Though he was honestly befuddled as to how Anya had never dated anyone before, he was sure his statements would come off as cruel or, possibly in-genuine.
He grinned, then got a tad bit closer and began to move them both in a twirling motion. If Anya followed, he would continue this for a couple more spins, then stop and return back to the swaying. He thought about the first time they'd spun, too, and had to ask "Whatever happened to that squirrel? The one who danced with us that one time," Joey realized that statement probably sounded really stupid, but he figured Anya wouldn't really care. "And does the little guy have a name so I stop having to say 'that squirrel'?" he had humor in his voice as he asked the last question, but he was still seriously wondering.

Do you wannah dance, my Barefoot Cinderella? Anya had never been one to get offended easily. She didn’t really care what other people thought about her, so she learned to shrug things off and put them aside. However, she hadn’t seen Joey’s comment as anything but sweet. Anya was rather girly, people would think that she would have gone to all the dances as an excuse to dress up and have a night of well-mannered fun. However, she hadn’t ever considered going alone to be an option. It didn’t seem right… These balls were meant for young couples to come and have a night together where they were both forced to dress up and the boys were forced to dance with their partners. Anya quite liked the concept, of course, it helped a lot that she had a boy who was willing to dance.
“I’d never been asked, so I hadn’t ever gone.” Anya said with a soft smile and a shrug. And spun with him a few times. She liked it. Actually, she liked dancing with him much more than she liked dancing with her Squirrel, but she wouldn’t say it out loud, he’d probably think she was weird. “Oh that little guy? He follows me everywhere! I’ve been thinking of adopting him or something, but I don’t want him to have to live in a cage or anything. That’s not fair to the little guy.” She told him, not really meaning to say everything, but it just sort of coming out altogether. “I’ve been trying to give him a name but I can’t think of one that would suit such a playful squirrel…” She admitted with a small sigh. She really had been thinking about it for a while now.

You would not believe your eyesif ten million fireflies lit up
Joey was never really any good with names. He had, after all, named his pet hamster 'Manny'. Which had his dorm-mates in tears when he'd first called the little guy that. His dorm-mates still hadn't gotten used to the name. Granted, he'd only had the little hamster for a year and a half. On his farm, though there were far too many animals for them all to be given names, Joey had named the ones that stuck out. They had a black and white rooster, a mean little bastard that would peck at anything non-avian that came near it, that Joey had dubbed 'Oreo Moe'. There was a ram they had with an awkward poof of hair on the crown of his head that had once charged Joey full on when the poor little Hufflepuff was trying to help an ewe. He'd dubbed that one the 'Prat in the Hat' and referred to him as so even when he was talking to people outside of the family. The only reason that Joey still had naming rights was the Richard, his little brother, had named the family's meat-cows things like 'Yummy', 'Steak', and 'Tasty'.
He gave a dumb-founded look when Anya said she'd never been asked. He still continued swaying, but he was extremely confused. How? But he decided not to press the matter any further, not wanting to cause any insults on accident, or seem like he was in-genuine and just saying things like that to be sweet. Thinking about a squirrel - a full-of-energy squirrel- in a cage made Joey almost laugh. It was a funny thought, thinking that someone would try to put such an energetic creature in a cage. His brother had once tried to do that, and ended up getting nipped so hard by the Squirrel that it drew blood. That was the last time any of them tried to capture anything from the wild. It just didn't seem to work.
Joey thought on a possible name for the squirrel. "Maybe you could name him Cheeky? Speedy?... Hank?" he suggested. Then sensing an opportunity for a good pun, Joey grinned and said "Trying to come up with a name for the squirrel might just drive you... nuts". He fully expected a slap on the head or something for that one, but it was worth it. When the opportunity arose to make a pun, one made a pun. Even if it would result in a slap of the head or make someone roll their eyes.

Do you wannah dance, my Barefoot Cinderella? Anya had named plenty of animals in her time. Her parents had gotten her a cat when she was really young, but sadly, Candy passed away before she even got her Hogwarts Letter. That cat had been named Candy because it was one of the only things her 18 month old self could say over and over again, the cat had learned to come to that name and so it stuck. That was her only real pet she had growing up, but the wild animals in the neighborhood always came over to her. She connected with all of them, except, this particularly rude moose who kept sneezing in her face. Anya knew when she moved away from her parents, she wanted to live somewhere centered on Animals. She wanted to devote her life to the animals around her. It was her passion and what she was good at. What else could she do with her life?
Anya hit Joey’s chest lightly at the pun but laughed at the joke as well. It was a little funny. “You’re about as bad at names as I am, aren’t you?” She smiled before realizing that she still had her hand on his chest. Awkwardly and with her face in a blush, she moved it back up to his shoulder. “I kind of like Hank though.” She admitted with a shrug. “I think I’m going to let him come into the common room with me next time he comes around.” She smiled and hoped that the girls didn’t get too freaked out with a Squirrel in the room.

You would not believe your eyesif ten million fireflies lit upthe world as I fell asleep The young Hufflepuff lad found himself amazed by Anya's skill with animals. He didn't quite understand or know about the extent of her natural affinity with animals, but he'd always thought it was wicked awesome how good she seemed to be with animals in Care of Magical Creatures. Joey was really skilled in the class himself, but there were only certain animals (usually the deadly ones) who'd warm up to him quickly. Sure, eventually the Crups they were studying a few years back eventually grew to like him, they seemed to, at least in his eyes, warm up to Anya quite faster. Which Joey found as awesome. He promised himself to ask about it at some point. Maybe she could give him some helpful tips on what she did to get animals to like her so naturally. Or, maybe it was just a natural thing? Joey didn't know, but he found it pretty cool all the same.
He grinned when Anya slapped his chest. A sign of a good pun was a slap of some sort, Joey figured. "Well..." he said. "Sorta. Personally, I thought 'Cat' was a good name for the family dog, but my parents seem to disagree there," he said with a laugh and a bit of a joking-nature coming out in his words. He, too, blushed when he noticed Anya's hand still on his chest. And accidentally made eye contact. So he blushed harder. He desperately hoped that Anya couldn't feel his heart beating as loudly as he thought it was beating. "Y-Yeah, H-Hank's a pretty cool name," He said with a bit of a stutter, turning red. He took a moment, then got himself together (for the most part). "I don't think anyone would mind the guy too much. It's not like that tarantula that bloke brought in that one year," he said, referring to a third year who got the ingenious idea to bring in a hug-arse hairy spider into the Hufflepuff basements. The monster-creature got out and nearly sent half the common to early graves via heart attacks.
Giving another sway, Joey thought he saw a member of Scorpius's band walking with what looked like drumsticks. He looked towards Anya. "You know Scorpius? Malfoy? His band might be playing tonight," he said. He wasn't sure if she was the type of lasse who liked Wrock music or not.
