To Lucas... Teddy almost choked on his own food when Lucas spoke with his mouth full, but he managed to swallow it. "Don't make me laugh while I'm eating," he said with a smile. To Evie... Teddy nodded in agreement at the team picks. "Sounds good to me if it works for everyone else," he said. "That way, none of us will be making a silly row about who's better, boys or girls?" Teddy wasn't the macho type to do that anyway. He loved playing sports with both boys and girls, and both were fun and presented a challenge. For him it was the player, not the gender. To Madalyn... Madalyn then made Teddy laugh again. What was it with people talking with their mouth full being so funny? He didn't know, but it was. Albert and Candace smiled at the four's gratitude about the food. "You have three wonderful friends here, Teddy," smiled Albert. "As for the volleyball game, I'll be happy to keep score. My wife here and I have played it a bit in our time when we used to go on dates at the beach. I think I still remember how points go." "Thanks, dad," smiled Teddy. LUCAS RYAN MACMILLAN

Lucas finished his burger very quickly. He knew he was hungry but he didn't realize he was that hungry. He smirked with pleasure as he made Teddy laugh. He laughed with Teddy, finding it funny that the boy was so easily amused. Wait, if Luc thought it was funny that Teddy was easily amused, did that mean he was easily amused? Yeah, probably.
"Those teams sound fine to me," Lucas said. He popped his last fry into his mouth and stood up from his chair along with the rest. Teddy's father offered to keep score for the four Hufflepuffs. "Aw, man, but if you keep score, then it's gonna be hard to cheat!" He smiled and looked at the others, giving a playful wink. He began to move out of the cafe and back onto the soft sand of the beach. Once arriving at the volleyball court, he picked up the sandy ball and started to bump it around with his fist. "Who serves first?"

Evie laughed when Teddy said it wouldn't create a competition between guys and girls. "That's right," she agreed. "Because there's no competition - girls are better! Right Maddie?" she asked with a bright smile. There were extra layers behind that comment, as well, as she was still trying to work out herself whether she was more attracted to guys or girls in general. The jury was definitely still out on that one.
She was glad that Teddy's parents thought his friends were nice. "That's nice of you to offer to keep score, thanks!" she said gratefully. "It might be less embarrassing if we don't keep score, though," she pointed out teasingly. Because she didn't feel she would be very good, and the other three probably all were. "You guys can," she offered.

Maddie giggled as the group heading toward the net. She had made the realization that Evie made teams and put herself with Teddy. That meant Maddie was with Luc, she blushed instantly. She had no problem being on his team, and she nodded at Evie when she made claims to girls being better, "Heck yeah, we are!" Maddie couldn't help but give Evie a big smile for the teams she picked, though that cause Maddie to be a bit distracted by Lucas.
She was happy to hear Teddy's parents' approval, and she thanked them. She put her hand up to Lucas, "Ready to kick some butt?" she smirked. She was glad he was tall, too. With her volleyball experience, things would seem easy to set him up for spikes.
Evie said that Maddie and Luc could server first, and she smiled. "Thanks Evie! Here Lucas." She went toward the ball, "Do you want to serve?"

To Lucas: Albert laughed a little as Lucas said it would be hard to cheat if the man was keeping score. "Well I know who to keep my eyes on now," he joked. Teddy then headed out with the others to play. "I guess you can if you'd like," he said to Lucas regarding serving. To Evelyn... Teddy shook his head at Evie. He was hoping that there wouldn't be a battle of the sexes here, but he figured someone would rub it in, even if Evie was joking. "Well if that's true, then I'm sure Lucas and I are glad we each have one on our team," he said. Teddy then laughed when Evie said it might be less embarrassing if they didn't keep score. "And here you were so confident a few minutes ago," he chuckled. "Don't get cold feet on me now." To Madalyn... Maddie seemed to be tough about it, asking Lucas if they were ready to kick some butt. Teddy was as well... figuratively speaking of course. Once the ball was served, Teddy got the hang of it and hit it back over as he had witnessed when he watched other people play. If this was all one had to do, this would be easy! LUCAS RYAN MACMILLAN

Lucas caught the ball when Maddie threw it to him and bumped it in the air a few times while everyone finished talking and quieted down. He was happy with the teams. He moved to the far corner of he and Maddie's section of the court and bumped the volleyball on his forearms a few times. He tried to psych them out a few times before finally hitting it and starting the game.
Teddy hit the ball once it was served. Luc waited briefly to see if it was going to make it over the net before running to get it. It just made it over the net and Lucas called out, "Maddie, heads up!" He stopped the ball from falling and the other team from getting a point, but at his angle there was no way he was getting it over the net. Instead, he set the ball in Maddie's direction, hoping she could get it back over.

It was at this point when Evie's author realised that RPing characters playing volleyball was awkward. And he decided that typing out every single hit of the ball was going to be quite painstaking.
Evie was enjoying the game but finding that she was the worst out of the four. She probably wasn't the only one who had never played before, but she didn't have a natural affinity for things that required hand eye coordination. She was okay at gymnastics and ice skating, but things involving balls didn't come naturally to her. When she made another error, she glanced over at Teddy apologetically. "Sorry, Teddy! That was meant to go to you!" It had actually gone the complete opposite direction. Oops. She was still having fun, though. Just probably not as much as some of the others who were better at it than she.

At this point, Maddie's master mind laughed a bit and continued a post with her.
Maddie Giggled as Evie was striking out. She was having fun, and that was all that matters. "You got this Evie!" But, on a serve, Teddy and Evie got it back over and Maddie smiled. Maddie watched as the ball came back over after Lucas' serve, and smiled as he jumped right next to her to get the ball. He heard her name come from his mouth, and she was on that ball like it was her job. As it came back down into a perfect setting zone, her fingertips sprang the ball back into the air, leaving Lucas open for a kill shot. When he went for it, Maddie couldn't help but watch him. She was completely noticeable in a stare, but she couldn't help it. Lucas was definitely her cup of... something.

Teddy really didn't mind if he and Evie made mistakes or even lost the game. He was just having fun. Any "trash talk" he might have fired at Lucas and Maddie was just for laughs. He did find the game not as easy as he thought it would be. He missed a few himself. However, he quickly figured out one of the things one did in the game was to try and make the other team miss the ball. And it seemed his and Evie's opponents were getting good at that. "We need something like this at school!" he said. "Maybe we can talk Hagrid into setting up a volleyball net on the grounds!" Teddy thought it would be fun to introduce a few Muggle games at school, even if they were just played casually. He doubted they would ever get the same treatment as Quidditch. Teddy then looked over at Albert. "How are we doing, dad?" he asked. "Well score's in Lucas and Madalyn's favor so far, but not by much," he said. "Just make sure you lot don't play for too long. You'll want to get some more time in the ocean before the festival later." "Oh yeah!" said Teddy. "Dad and mum are going to take us to one of the local festivals this evening. They'll be food and rides and games there!" LUCAS RYAN MACMILLAN

Lucas noticed that Madalyn was pretty good at volleyball and eager to be playing and was quite helpful. Teddy and Evie seemed to be having a little bit more trouble than they were. Perhaps the teams were a little unfair? Oh well! Nobody was complaining and everyone was still laughing and smiling, and that was okay with Luc. He was surprised, and a little impressed, with Maddie's skill when she set him up for a spike. Luc launched himself into the air and slammed the volleyball toward an open area between Teddy and Evie.
Maybe Luc was being a bit competitive, but it was in his nature. Sometimes he had to remind himself to calm down every now and then. He laughed anyway and reached his hand out to Maddie to give her a high five. When Teddy mentioned the festival Luc perked up. "Man, it's been forever since I've been to one of those... that sounds like fun!" He gave a thumbs up to Teddy's parents. They were alright.

Evie thought the festival did sound like a lot of fun, but she agreed with Teddy's dad that they should have a bit more time in the water before that. "Yeah, I'm getting all sandy from diving around - I'll want to wash all this off!" she commented, before Luc did a spike after Maddie's set, and Evie tried to dive to save it but couldn't get there in time, instead only getting more sandy. She stood up, laughing. "The festival sounds fun, though. I'm excited!"

As the game continued, Maddie was casually making out the opportunity to watch Luc move and jump and dive. She blushed every time he would look toward her, but she did pay attention to the ball as well. When he went up for the spike, she shivered slightly. He went from being cute and funny to down right sexy. He scored a point, and Maddie watched as Evie hit the dirt.
At the festival talk, Maddie smiled. That meant the game was soon over, and the group could hit the water again. She was all sandy, and when Luc came down from the spike, she walked over with a hand up, unsure if that deemed a hug, or a high five or what. His hand hit her and she grinned, "Woo!" she said giggling. "Hey, good game guys!" She was still red in the face as she walked up to the net. Her blush was very noticeable, to everyone else, to her it was so hot out anyway, she couldn't feel the warmth on her cheeks. "Back to the water, then?"

Teddy was happy with how the game turned out. Lucas and Maddie won, but by just a little. Teddy congratulated the two as a good sportsman would. "You both did great," he said. "And so did you, Evie. Maybe next time we'll win and then we can do a best two-out-of-three game." Teddy enjoyed the last swim of the day, which at least to him seemed longer than the first one. He attempted to surf on his body board for laughs, but kept falling off, only to pop up with a cheeky grin on his face. There wasn't much that embarrassed Teddy unless someone was deliberately being mean to him, and even then it was alright before his friends took up for him. (Bumping, but we can still hold a swimming convo if you'd all like.) After the swim, it was time for the festival. It was basically a glorified carnival, but that suited Teddy just fine. Now back in the clothes he wore on the train that morning, Teddy walked about eating a candy apple. "Hey mates," he said. "Who wants to give the haunted house a go?" He then whispered to them. "It'll be fun to see Muggles get scared by ghosts when we talk to them at the castle all the time." LUCAS RYAN MACMILLAN

Lucas laughed, noticing Maddie's red face. He also congratulated Evie and Teddy for playing a great game of volleyball. They were surprisingly pretty good. The four of them made their way back to the ocean where Luc dived in to cool off. He then sat back for a little while in the warm sand and observed the others as they swam around, and Teddy played on his body board. He smiled, content with how their day was going.
Before they headed to the festival, Lucas hopped in the ocean one more time to rinse off his sand-caked body. Of course there was still sand left in... places, but he would deal with that later. That was the worst part about coming to the beach. He finally laughed when Teddy suggested they go to the haunted house to watch the muggles. "That sounds like a brilliant idea, Teddy," he said, still shaking sand out of his hair.

Evie found it amusing to watch Teddy falling off his body board when he tried to surf on it. She had never tried surfing before but imagined it must be pretty hard. She did enjoy the water, though, until they eventually got out and dried themselves off using their towels. Evie excused herself to go off to a nearby changeroom and change out of her bikini into some less wet clothes, which made her much more comfortable for the evening ahead.
She smiled and giggled a little at Teddy's idea. "Sure. But they'll all be fake ones, right? What would be fun is if we could convince a real ghost to come along and scare them, that would be funny," she replied, smiling at the thought. Most muggles didn't even think ghosts existed, and knew that the ones they saw in the haunted house were fake. So showing them a real one would really scare them. It was too bad they didn't have a way to do that, though.
