James chuckled, shaking his head. "An honor?" he asked with a raised brow. "Well gee, thanks," he said with a grin. James smiled cheekily as she noted their friendship status. In truth, James knew that fact well. They were definitely best friends and James appreciated that - but damn was he feeling much more for her. He only wished he'd realized his feelings sooner. How the bloody hell would they be able to carry on a relationship if she was at Hogwarts and he was off playing professional Quidditch and helping out the Order. His involvement in the latter was sure to bring hardships upon anyone who knew him, and the last thing he wanted was for Xarrah to be in any kind of danger. He wasn't sure what he'd do with himself if she got hurt by association with him.
He grinned and watched her disappear from sight, leaning into his crutches as he waited for her to scour the store for whatever it was she wanted. James liked Honeydukes as well, but his own stock at home was still plenty for him. He had managed to make a big Honeydukes trip right before the end of year so that he would have some sweets at home for himself and his mates, should they join him. James was sure that his stock wouldn't last too long, especially since sitting at home with a nearly-paralyzed body meant you ate a lot. Still, Honeydukes was open to more than just students of Hogwarts, so James didn't feel too disconnected from the village whose shops he'd grown to love over the years.
As Xarrah cutely peeked from around the shelf, James smiled at her, admiring her playful nature. It was one of the things he thought most charming about her. "Sounds great," he answered with a grin. "No no, of course not - you go ahead and get your things," James said and nodded over at the counter. James ran a hand through his hair and waited for her to buy her things, wondering what to say to introduce her to the fact that he had much more than friendship on his mind. Still, there was part of James that held him back. He didn't want Xarrah to get hurt simply because she was associated with him; being friends was enough to spark something in The Dark Lady, which was evident by the attack she pursued on James and his mates, so being his girlfriend might draw more than ill will from her. James couldn't let anything happen to Xarrah - she meant too much.

"Yes, an honor." Xarrah told him with an assuring nod. "And it will still be when I watch you play professionally. Maybe an even larger one since you'll be such a star!" She smiled brightly, a hint of playfulness in her tone. Xarrah was a playful person naturally, but she never felt so much as one as she did when she was with James. It was like she could be anyone, or anything, most importantly herself around him and that was such an amazing feeling. To be accepted and loved wholeheartedly, even if it was by someone who was just your friend in that moment, was something everyone should get the chance to feel. But more than friends was what she wanted. More than friends was something she wished she could be with him, because he made her feel what no one else has been able to make her feel. She has had many guy friends, and enough pursuers to know that no one compared to James Potter.
Shaking her head, she knew he was going to turn down her offer and for once she wasn't going to stand for it. So, she disappeared behind the shelf once more for a quick moment to grab another chocolate bar. Who could go wrong with a chocolate bar? And furthermore, he would accept it, or else she would beat him with his own crutch. Not really, but she'd be upset if he didn't take it. After all, she wanted to share with him, despite his rejection of the offer. Once she had her two chocolate bars and two chocolate frogs, she walked up to the counter and placed them down. "Will that be all for you Ms. Ollivander?" Xarrah chuckled lightly at his question that was accompanied by a skeptical look. He knew her so well! After all, she had been in there too many times to count. "Yes sir!" She said with another chuckle as he rang her up and she paid for the chocolate.
Walking back to James, she looked at him seriously before holding out the chocolate bar to him. "You will take it, and you will enjoy it, you understand me Mr. Potter?" She told him in a firm tone, trying to hold the serious face. However, it didn't quite work as she started to laugh. "I'm sorry.. I can't be so serious with you. But still, you have to take it. I won't accept a no." She said with a grin. She couldn't believe that soon, she'd be back in Hogwarts and he'd be off playing Quidditch. She was really going to miss him not being around all the time. Despite the house difference and him being a year ahead, they still found time to see each other. Things were going to be much harder now concerning that. Meeting his eyes, her own turned soft, an equally gentle smile tagging along. "By the way, going back to you leaving to play Quidditch... while you're off being a star, don't ever forget me, okay?"

James shook his head at her. "I don't think I'll be a star, love, but thanks," he said with a grin. James watched Xarrah disappear behind the shelf once more, figuring she was grabbing one last thing for herself before approaching the counter. Standing there, James wondered how he could possibly admit his feelings to Xarrah without ruining their friendship. After all, he considered her one of his best friends, and if she didn't return the feelings then their friendship was doomed to failure. He couldn't let that happen; romantically involved or not, James needed Xarrah in his life. He had never felt more sure of that fact than at that moment.
As he waited for his partner in crime, watching the back of her fiery hair as she stood in front of the counter, James contemplated how to let her know of his feelings. She deserved some extravagant way of being asked out, but James wasn't sure how he could make something like that possible. But he knew he had to do it today - if not, the chance of having the opportunity of being alone with her for some time would be slim. He was alerted to her presence when his gaze looked from the floor to the girl who stood before him with serious demeanor and tone as she held out the chocolate bar for him. His eyes widened at her seriousness, then softened as she began to laugh. "Okay okay I'll take it - for you," James chuckled, grabbing the chocolate from her and examining it. Even if he didn't necessarily like the idea of her buying him things, he was appreciative nonetheless. He looked back up at her and smiled, saying a simple, "Thanks."
Xarrah's next words prompted a raised eyebrow from James. "Forget you?" James asked, then shook his head, returning her gentle gaze. "I could never forget you." While it might not have been as extravagant as he wanted, nor a grand gesture of his sentiments, James set free the crutches that held him up and took her face in his palms. He quickly, but gently, moved in to kiss her, his lips brushing hers in sweet longing before finally pulling away, keeping his hands against her warm cheeks as he grinned. "And I hope now you'll really believe me," he whispered.

Xarrah rolled her eyes playfully as she continued with what she was doing. “Oh, come on.” She said, chuckling lightly. “You’re James Potter for Merlin’s sake. And I’m not just saying that because of your last name, so don’t go there. I’m saying it because every time I have seen you play, you were nothing but amazing.” She grinned at him, placing a hand on her hip. “Plus, if they can’t see that, they don’t deserve you on your team. And, I might just have to pay them a visit to knock some sense into them.” She teased. Sure, she loved the boy and would do anything to see him happy, but she wouldn’t go knock around a whole quidditch team. Not that she thought that was even possible for her. She wasn’t the violent type anyway.
Beaming when he took the chocolate bar, she was happy that he did seeing as it probably would have hurt her feelings if he hadn’t of. “Thank you.” She told him with a warm smile. She didn’t know what was going on between them, but there was definitely something. At least, she felt that way. Xarrah had apparent feelings for the older boy, but it was hard to tell someone that, even for her. She wasn’t shy, even with boys, but she didn’t want to ruin the friendship they had. But what if they could be even better as more? She didn’t know, but there was no sense getting worked up about it. “Of course!” She said when he thanked her. “I know you don’t like people getting you things, but I wanted you to enjoy a snack with me.”
Xarrah saw his demeanor change completely when she told him not to forget her. Something was different; the situation felt different. Blushing lightly, her heart gave a leap when he said he could never forget her. Truth was, she could never forget him either, no matter how hard she tried. He was one of the best people she had ever met and she would miss him so very much when school was back. Almost dropping her things from shock, her eyes widened at the touch of his lips to hers, his warm hands framing her face. Her eyes soon closed though as she kissed him back, her heart racing from the excitement and her cheeks warmer than ever. When he pulled away, her eyes fluttered open to meet his. “I think I most definitely do.” She said softly, feeling happier than she had been in while.

Her compliment on his Quidditch game made him beam. James just shook his head and chuckled slightly before looking back at her. "Well thank you - I mean, of course I hope to make a name for myself not just as a Potter but as a Quidditch Player alone. A star is one thing, but I guess you never know - we'll see how it goes," he explained, nodding periodically through his statements. He often wondered just how good of a player he would turn out to be; he knew he was good, yea, but playing against people who were also very good would make it difficult to make a name for himself. He just hoped he made his parents, and Xarrah, proud.
"You're right, I don't...I need to work on that," James laughed. Maybe it really was a problem, but he just didn't like taking things from people when he could help them all along. He felt like if he took things from others, that onlookers might think he was greedy or manipulative when he wasn't either of those things. In fact, James was a pretty poor liar, actually. He liked to joke around, have fun, and could be serious when necessary, but as far as actually lying...well, that never turned out good for him, which was evident by the stories his mother could tell you from his childhood.
James smiled at Xarrah as she looked up at him after the kiss. He leaned his forehead against hers and continued to look into her eyes, relieivng a deep sigh. "I've wanted to do that for a while now," he chuckled, restraining himself from doing it again. He closed his eyes for a moment, taking it all in, before opening them and meeting her gaze once more. "I guess this is me asking you...er- as formally as it gets...if you'll be my girlfriend?" he asked, pulling his hands away from her face and taking one of her hands in his own.
