With a squirrel on either shoulder holding on, Walker went down the steps behind Viona with a grin. Outdoors was always worth the time, especially the forest which they weren't going into, but getting close enough his squirrels could do some climbing. That way the rabbit and the squirrels could get some exercise although why anyone would go into the first past the edge seemed nuts to him personally. "It's been a nice day outside," he said as they reached the bottom of the stairs and headed for the front door.
"How were classes today Viona? Did you have a good time, learn loads?" He remembered the year she was in being filled with studies for the OWLS at the end of the year and they had been kept very busy with more homework then usual. Of course, everyone was telling him seventh would be harder then fifth was. "You need any help you know you can come to me, right? I'll be glad to help if you have any issues or need something explained."
He chuckled remembering one morning she had been sent to wake his sleepy head up.
"Even if you have to come bounce on the bed to wake me, I promise once I wake up I won't be mad at you," with the sound of humor in his voice. As they walked across the grass he put a hand up and let both squirrels run down his arm, stopping so they could run down his pant leg and into the grass. "Not too fast you two!" The squirrels hesitated a moment sniffing the air and looking around and then as he suspected went bounding across the grass headed for a tree nearby...

Ever since Walker had been adopted by her family, Viona had loved him so much. She truly saw him as a brother and wanted to do so much with him. The two had become like two peas in a pod, and Viona couldn't be happier. Grinning from ear to ear as she walked along with her rabbit in her hands, she turned to him and nodded as Walker spoke of what a nice day it was.
"It's very lovely out," she said. "And you had a great idea to bring the animals out."
Viona then beamed and nodded as they neared the Forbidden Forest. She knew not to go into the forest, but she liked being near it because if the two were lucky, they would see a unicorn or a centaur.
"Classes were wonderful! And I learned how to make a new draught in potions. I also learned about the History of Hogsmeade in me History of Magic class! We should go there some time and I'll tell you what I learned!"
Viona smiled when Walker offered to help her.
"Thank you, big brother," she said. "I love saying that! I'm so happy to be your sister!" She walked over and gave him as much of a hug as possible with the animals in tow, then kissed him on the cheek.
She then laughed about waking him up.
"It's alright, silly," she said. She then looked down as the bag that was slung around her right arm. "Are you ready to sit down and eat snacks? Dad sent us some Pumpkin Muffins."
Viona then sat her rabbit down. Gusifus make sure to hop away from the forest. He was a smart rabbit.

He grinned at her praise, eating it up even though he had felt it just made sense. "It just made sense, I mean, if they ever get out they need to know where they are and how to find their way back. plus, I think it's hard for them to climb in the castle and I don't want them forgetting how after all. Trees don't fit in cages well," he chuckled. He had been warned about the forest when he arrived, but his wand skills needed a lot of work anyway. "I'm sure yours wants grass anyway," he chuckled.
"Hey, the history huh? Sounds great and I'd love to have my own tour guide! I've read about it, but never been there." It was true; he had had no parents to sign permission slips for such a place. And Diagon Alley had only been for getting his wand, the rest was done by others and sent with him usually. She had seen how excited he had been in Diagon cause it represented a whole new freedom for him, but she may not have realized why. As she hugged him he hugged her back tightly, really soaking in the love in her words.
"Ah yes! I couldn't have a better sister, V! And your hugs are the best!" As she kissed him he kissed her back, releasing her reluctantly. After years of growing up with little affection it was no wonder he soaked it up like a sponge! As she mentioned sitting down he nodded and chose a spot with a bit of a hilly look to it facing th forest. two red squirrels ran up a tree trunk delightedly chirping back and forth at each other. "Pumpkin! Excellent! We just got here and I already miss the bakery. Is that sad or what?"

Viona giggled a bit at Walker talking about why it was a good idea to let them.
"Don't worry," she said. "I take Gusifus for nature walks all the time. Usually if me rabbit gets lose, he just hops about the Common Room. Gusifus certainly likes grass though!"
Viona hated that Walker had never been able to go to Hogsmeade. He had missed out on so much, so she was happy to be able to go with him now.
"We'll have a lovely time," she said. "Hogsmeade has a lot of wonderful places to visit."
Viona beamed at Walker as they hugged. She couldn't understand how other siblings could argue and fight. She couldn't ever do that with her adopted brother. All she wanted to was love him with all her heart and help make him as happy as possible.
"We're going to have so much fun this year... and wait until Christmas Holidays! We really go all out at the house!" she said.
Viona shook her head and laughed as Walker wondered if it was bad to miss the bakery.
"Of course not," she said. "I always miss it, along with mum and dad. I know you must miss them too, but you have me until then."
Viona sat on the ground and handed Walker a Pumpkin Muffin. She then moved over and cuddled with him. She finally had a sibling and would make the most of it.

Turning to watch the rabbit moving away from the forest he smiled. Smart bun indeed! In the orphanage he hadn't had nearly so much time around animals and it was rather nice to have gained both a human and an animal family. Maybe that was part of the reason he had wanted to come out when they had a chance and give them some outdoors time. As the excited squirrels explored the tree he sat with her and enjoyed the sunshine. "I'm sure it will be great, I look forward to it!" He grinned at her.
Ha, she really was trying to make up for lost time! He didn't object at all, in fact she was like a shining lamp in the dark compared to what he had been through in the past. Still, he wondered about the friends he had left behind and hoped they were okay. He had already determined as soon as he was graduated he was fostering; how could he do less? After being given a real chance at a life and family? When she mentioned missing it as well he grinned and became maybe a bit moist in the eyes.
"Hey now, I could have been saying I missed the cooking you know," he said teasingly as he put an arm around his little sister, almost possessively. She knew he was making that up despite the fact he was able to put away a good amount of food on his own. "But don't worry I'm going nowhere, V, I'm all yours for good." He glanced up quickly as a branch snapped and one squirrel dropped to another branch and caught himself. "Merlin Diffy! Would you be careful please?"
The little squirrel chattered at him and then chattered up as the other squirrel chewed him out. It was amusing to say the least.

Viona stuck her tongue out at Walker before resting her head on his shoulder.
"I would certainly understand if you did," she said. "No one cooks like mum and no one bakes like dad! But I know you just miss being there like me. We should get a picture together here and send it to mum and dad. I think they'd really like that. I know they miss us both too. Even dad was teary-eyed when he knew he wouldn't get to see you until Christmas. Dad told me if he could have named you, he would have named you Alpin Zephyr Jr. because you remind him so much of himself at sixteen."
Viona then giggled as she watched the squirrels. She had become attached to them too. Animal affinity did that after all, especially with Viona's own was mainly focused on small animals.
"They're really lovely," she said. "They seem to get along well together. Gusifus seems to like them too, but he's been so used to being around the other pets at home." The rabbit had even napped on the same little bed with their dad's Scottish Terrier, Oxford. Only at the Zephyr house would one see a dog and bunny napping together.

Chuckling a she stuck her tongue out at him he complained without heart. "No fair, you've already learned to see straight through me! How am I supposed to get away with anything?" A picture sounded like a great idea! But then she went further and admitted something which made his eyes moist again and it was clear in his face how touched he was! "You're-- Really? Oh man..." In a short time he had fallen quite hard for his new parents, surely some of the best people he had even known. And how could he not? Were there better people anywhere?
"That's...amazing, Viona. Thanks for telling me!" He hugged her again before wiping the back of his wrist across his eyes to get rid of the threatening tears, trying to cover it up and not succeeding at all. "A picture indeed! We'll get all of us together for one I think, if you know someone with a camera! We need three copies." Because he was sure framing that one for himself. Viona had his number all right, more like a real sister then he would have thought already.
"Ha," he said grateful to his pets for the distraction from mushier topics, "I'm just glad I got them so early on and they like me so much. It helps they know where their comfortable nest is and who has all the food. Otherwise they might stay up there for days!" Goofy ones they were, they had found them in a park just after he had come home with them, baby squirrels with a missing mother. Feeding them had been a challenge, but they had certainly accepted him as 'mom.'
Jeeze, no one would recognize him back at the orphanage by this point!
He bit into a pumpkin one and chewed, enjoying the moment and feeling very protective of the girl at his side. When he finished the bite he asked her "So what do you normally do at school for entertainment when you can't go to Hogsmeade, sis? Not what everyone else does, what do you do?"

Viona turned and smiled when Walker spoke of her seeing through him and how he couldn't get away with anything around her.
"I don't think you could do anything bad, Walker," she said. "You're perfect."
Her eyes then got teary as Walker's did. She could tell the info about Alpin got to him. He held him close too, a tear pouring down her cheek. "I'm so glad you're in our family. I love you so much."
Viona then modded about knowing someone with a magical camera.
"I know a few people actually, and we should definitely have three!" said Viona, though the idea of parting from Walker for long periods of time one day didn't sit well with her. Still, to have a pic of them with her would make things a little better then.
Viona smiled as she watched the squirrels.
"Pets are like people," she said. "No matter where they go or what happens, they know where they belong in the end."
Viona chewed over her bite of pumpkin muffin and thought it over as Walker asked what she liked to do.
"I like to read, and I love nature walks," she said. "And I just love talking with me mates. What about you?"

At that comment he blushed. "Hardly perfect, but thanks sis, you're pretty perfect yourself. You are everything I could ask for in a sister, you little minx," he said with a grin, affectionately rustling her hair before she could get away, "and you'd better not ever do anything to get in trouble. Cause I would be crushed you didn't tell me first or invite me along!" She cried a bit with him and spoke about love again.
He caught her chin before she pulled back and said quite honestly to her eyes "You are going to break so many hearts when you start dating, Viona, I swear! You are so sweet and pretty, I'm going to have to use a bat to keep them away from you... I love you too, sister, and don't you ever forget it!" before he kissed her on the forehead and held her tightly for a minute. This was what he needed, his own little energizer bunny making sure he never got a chance to sink low.
"Excellent! We can each have one and then send them one as well. Heck, if I send dad a note with them, maybe he can get them fixed up and sent back moving!" Exclaiming about the picture idea made him feel very good and helped to cover the moment-ago tears he had shed. As they turned to the pets who were enjoying their time, Walker felt very much at peace in the moment which helped a lot. "What do you read besides school stuff? Anything in particular?"
Walker had to think a minute. "Mostly hang out with friends, I mean this is the only time in our lives we're together like this. A lot of people who leave you never see again in your lifetime unless you write back and forth a lot. We scatter to the winds and become faces in the past. I try to leave as good an impression on them as I can in the time I have."

Viona blushed when Walker said she was pretty perfect, but then giggled.
"I'm not perfect," she said. "I do silly stuff all the time. But I'll be sure to invite you next time I do that." She giggled again when he ruffled her hair.
Viona's eyes then widened when Walker spoke about her dating.
"I've actually been on a date and I still can't imagine me having a boyfriend yet," she said. "But if I do, I'm glad you're here to make sure he's a good one. What about you? Do you have a girlfriend that I should keep me eyes on as your sister?"
She them beamed about the photos.
"That's a wonderful idea, and of course they'll move," she said. "All the best magical cameras make the photos move."
She then smiled as he asked about the books she read.
"A lot of fiction, especially Margo Mindlepop," she said. "She's me favorite author of all time. I read everything written by her. Me favorite is her Witches of Loch Laramoor series."
Viona hated the idea of not seeing some of her school mates after graduation.
"I know," she sighed. "But at least you and I have some time left here, and I think some of the best friendships last after school is over."

She giggled, denying she was perfect and he reached over and put a finger on her nose saying "Yes you are, minx. You've been perfect since the day I met you, silly or not. And I'll be delighted to come and see you do silly." He would never forget that day; it was engraved on his mind. And that reminded him of something else which he tried to push aside as he turned his head looking away for a moment. What if there were beautiful people like that back where his memories were locked away? And what if it happened again and he lost her memory as well? A deep breath, then letting it out, he soothed that thought away before he ruined things. He gave her a startled look then raised an eyebrow. "You've been on a date before? Really? Since when?" And how old he suddenly worried, feeling protective. "No, nobody yet. I would tell you first, of course. Had a lot of close friends in the past, but no girlfriends. So, is there a boy you like right now?" He wondered what kind of person she would look for in a boyfriend when she already accepted so much and that thought bothered him a tad. "I promise not to be too protective, really." At the same time he wondered if he might regret said promise. Shaking his head he grinned having something on her for once from being ahead a year. "The camera doesn't take the moving pictures so much as the process afterwards does, the camera just captures more of the stuff needed for the final process. It's the developing which is the more expensive part for a reason." They moved on to talking about books and he raised an eyebrow not knowing the books. "Oh? What is it about what she writes that you like so much? Mystery? Descriptions? Animals?"Again he nodded, knowing she was right. "I know and that is true, but the desire to be there is still here. It's--" he had a real time trying to think of a word. "Well even if there was no magic, this place has a magic of another kind and you only get it at one point in your life. I'm glad to share some of it with you, but boy will I miss it."@viona

Viona then got a bit more serious about the getting in trouble thing.
"If you are ever are in trouble, know I'll be there for you," she said. "And no matter what you do, I'll always love you."
Viona giggled when Walker asked if she had been on a date before and seemed a bit worried.
"It was last year," she said. "One of the clubs was doing this thing where people could sign up and go on blind dates. I did it just for fun. I went on a date with this Ravenclaw named Ryne. He was very nice and I had a lovely time, but we never became boyfriend and girlfriend. But we're good mates and all."
She said nothing for a moment when he asked if there was a boy she liked.
"Well... and you need to keep this a secret... there's actually a Slytherin I fancy, but he's not mean like some Slytherins are," she said. "But I don't know if he feels the same way about me. I think he fancies someone else." She was surprised that Walker never had a girl of his own. "I can't believe you've never dated. You're so handsome and nice. And I know you wouldn't be mean if I had a boyfriend, but that will probably be a while."
Viona made an "ooooh" face when Walker talked about the camera. She learned something new every day.
"I didn't know that," she said. "You're so brilliant, Walker. Me handsome, kind, brilliant brother."
Viona then beamed as she loved talking about her favorite author.
"She writes about young witches like me, and makes them really easy to relate to," she said. "So I like picking out characters from her books that I feel relate to me the most and following their journey."
Viona hugged Walker again when he spoke of missing everything here.
"Like mum and dad always say, life is like a book. We jump from one chapter to the next, and each chapter is just as amazing as the last," she said. "We will lose touch friends and places as we move on, but we make new ones and go to new places."

Walker smiled. It was odd in a way after so many years of finding and having friends on and off to know that the closest one protecting him was his newest and only sister. A grin as she promised and he agreed. "Definitely, we watch after each other." Hearing it was a blind date he felt a bit more relaxed, thinking she might have just had some fun with him. "Ah! Well good friends is very acceptable. More friends are always good!"
She spoke about a Slytherin and his blood nearly ran cold. "Really? A Slytherin huh? And he's always been nice to you? Is he in your year?" THAT had gotten his attention! Not just because he was male and knew how guys dreamed, but because he understood the danger the Snakes tended to represent. It didn't sound like he was focusing on her however fortunately. "Well just be sure you know first, people can sometimes come across different then you expect. If you want me to find out what I hear you let me know his name sometime, okay?"
Shrugging again he said to her curiosity "Not found the right person really I guess. Had a lot of female friends, just...nothing clicked yet." Grinning at her praise he chuckled. "Yeah we learned about them some more last year in school when they talked about paintings and movement. It's a pretty cool subject really! I think it would be rather fun to have a painting of yourself in a way..." the boos she spoke about got a raised eyebrow too.
"Really? Maybe you should loan me one of them so i can read up on her, see what it is you like so much. Would you be willing to do that?" Gah, more reading, but at least to a good point. He doubted his new father knew how far he was stretching himself to watch over his daughter, but he sure wanted to. Hugging her back, Walker did find it comforting to know she would always be there at least. "How very wise of them and how smart of you to remember it! Ah man, I'm going to have to buckle down more to catch up to you all," he teased her.

Viona was happy that Walker was worried about the guy she fancied, but she doubted she'd go anywhere with it. It was just an infatuation.
"He's a Sixth Year like you," she said. "His name is Cameron. He's very nice and I love being around him. I haven't told him that I fancy him, so please keep it a secret. This is brother/sister talk and nothing else, okay?" She then smiled at him about his own "love situation." "I know you'll find someone, and she'll be the luckiest girl in the world."
Viona giggled at the idea of having a moving painting of herself.
"That would be looney, seeing a moving painting of me on the wall," she said. "Imagine if I could have a conversation with me."
Viona giggled again about the books.
"Of course!" she said. "I mean, you live with me, so I know you'd bring them back, and if you don't I can just storm in your room and take them." She stuck her tongue out at him again.
Viona hugged him again when he spoke of how wise the family was.
"You're brilliant too, Walker," she said. "You fit right in with us."
Dark clouds then began to loom above and thunder was heard.
"Oh bugger," said Viona, but in good spirits. "Guess we'd better go back to the Common Room."

The realization that his little sister had a slight crush on a Slytherin from one of his classes nearly made his eye cross! And apparently they were good friends? Well, from the way she said it he wasn't after her which had to be a good thing, but then he tried to remember what he knew about Cameron himself. "Mums the word, I promise. Though you know I'm not much into concealing anything from our parents you know, I'm only doing this for you, sis...cause you ask so nicely!" He touched her nose again playfully, but he was thinking of checking up on this boy anyway.
"Eventually," he chuckled though his own feelings on the matter were more 'NOW NOW NOW NOW' in his head and jumping up and down. Testosterone, he had discovered, was a pushy master! At her giggle he gave her a quirky smile. "Hey, now that's an idea... I could get a portrait made of you every five years for my wall back home and they can all talk and keep each other company when I'm not there." He reached out and cupped her cheek softly adding "I don't want to ever forget this face in all her cuteness and sweetness at all."
She really was adorable!
And she didn't seem to realize how precious she was either. He felt a twist of helping her discover her own inner beauty and worth and protecting her from the bad boys. Gah! "Oh you would too, even if I wasn't finished with it yet? I see how it is," he teased back. he wasn't sure about how smart he was really, but it was hard to argue when your little sister looked at you with those eyes of trust and love and he feared hero worship. he knew he wasn't worthy of that last one, but she had done a number on the first to already and she didn't seem to be letting up.
At the sound of thunder she said a bad word and he laughed, making a few click-click sounds to the trees which stopped their racket of unusual chittering as two pairs of ears tilted up. He rattled the nuts in his pocket and that decided them as two red streaks came down the tree leaping down halfway down and scampering over to where he waited chuckling. "Come on guys, time to get in before it rains on us and boy, does it rain around here!"
