Bryony knew she could give Silvia a simple flower and some how it would mean the world to her. Honestly it was enough to rip at Bryony's heart. She knew her mother's distaste of Silvia. A filthy half-breed, she treated Silvia's mother as if she was just insult to injure, being a muggle none the less. Maybe muggles had no place in their world...but with out them she wouldn't have had Silvia.
She still struggled with finding where she stood. Was she strong enough to go against her mother? Did she care deeply enough to stand by Silvia? Would there ever be a middle ground where she didn't feel as if she lived a double life? Bryony didn't know."We'll see." She said with a faint smile. The right wizard, she wasn't even sure what she wanted to find in someone else. Pureblood? A free spirit? Acceptance? It was all a bit much really. Maybe in time.
"I'm joking Silvia, really though I wouldn't want to take you away from him too much, some of my other friends will be there too so I'll have some company, and we'll have our boat ride, and some dances, and I'll help you get ready and you can help me - it'll be lovely." Bryony turned her attention to the owls, giving one of them a scratch on the head. "You think your other friends would mind if I sat with you at dinner tonight?" She bit at her lip after she asked.

Silvia was really happy about the plan for the dance. Time with Sam would be wonderful, but it wouldn't be a special night without Bryony. And Silvia would probably need help with her dress since Silvia didn't often wear dresses. "I think we're going to have a lovely evening with all of that," she said. "I don't think it could be special without you. I find doing most things without you isn't though."Silvia was confused when Bryony worried about what her other friends would think if the two sat together. Bryony was her best friend, everything to her. Silvia loved a great deal of friends, but none would ever be held in high esteem like Bryony. "I'm not sure how any of them would have any say in you sitting with me, but if you're that worried about it, I'm certain they won't mind," she said. "I know I'll be happy having dinner with you."
Silvia finished visiting the last of the owls, then turned and smiled at her cousin before offering her hand. "Shall we go?" he asked. BRYONY CATE MOONBERRY

The size of Sylvia's heart never ceased to amaze Bryony. No matter how alone she could feel at times knowing that she had Sylvia around loving her so dearly made it easier, knowing someone was going to love her no matter what choices she made. Wrong or right. "Its not the same if you're not there. Never has been." She spoke the final part a little quieter, as if it was a secret between the two of them. And it some ways, it was. The wedge her mother had tried to put between her and Sylvia had been painful. But they had survived it, hadn't they? But the memories of their times apart were dull compared to the bright moments she spent with Sylvia.
Bryony looked back at Sylvia with a sheepish grin. Of course Sylvia didn't care what others thought - a trait Bryony often found herself envious of. She wondered sometimes if it was her fault that Sylvia got picked on so much at times, maybe she should have stood up for her more, or maybe she should have stood up for her less. Wasn't it her job to help people see that the strange girl was really a brilliant mind that shouldn't be so over looked? Or helped to show how tender of a heart she possessed - she wasn't sure, and maybe the fault really was on her. Maybe one day she would be as strong as her baby cousin. Maybe that was why she had been lucky enough to be born with her, so that she would be able to have someone who help her through the world - someone who could see it in a light so few could.
"Sorry, its a bit ridiculous to ask. Must be that silly etiquette club mother wanted me to join - wants to make a proper lady out of me. Maybe on the holiday I will attempt to eat Christmas dinner with my feet. I'm sure it would drive her absolutely mad." It was likely Bryony would not do something so extreme, she tried to keep her mother happy as it made life easier. But the idea was still amusing. Uptight rigid pureblood life felt unnatural. "Meals with you and your friends is far more entertaining than meals at Slytherin table - I'm pretty sure there is one boy there who has not laughed once in the entire three years he has been at this school." Not all slytherins were uptight and cold, but being a member of the house Bryony had met her fair share of distasteful persons.
Taking up Sylvia's hand Bryony gave it a light squeeze before softly bumping her shoulder against the other girl's. "Let's." In some ways it reminded her of their childhood, hand in hand getting ready to head off on their next grand adventure. Maybe this was an adventure too, one that would last years before it was fully understood.
