Walking into the room with her head held high, Dahlia Monroe sat in the seat across from the interviewer; a smirk on her lips and one leg crossed over the other as she crossed her arms and made herself comfortable. Dahlia wasn't one for interviews, so this guy better be careful not to annoy her. "Shall we get started?" She asked him, a pleasant tone lacing her words to make him feel like she was happy to be there. Being fake was her specialty. It was how she lured people in.
Yes, of course! He said to her, pulling out his papers. Let's start with the basics shall we? Give us your full name, birthday, you get the gist.
Putting on her most charming smile, she began. "Well, my name is Dahlia Alyzabeth Monroe. Alyzabeth is spelled A-L-Y-Z-A-Beth. Not the normal way. I was born on March thirteenth, seventeen years ago and I will be a seventh year this coming up school year at Hogwarts. It'll be my first year there and I'll be a Ravenclaw. Also, I'm a pureblood. I guess you could call me a blood traitor though, seeing as I don't care what blood anyone is." She almost threw up in her mouth at those words, but she hid her disgust well, keeping her same pleasant smile. People had to believe she was good in order to get anything worthwhile done.
What a pretty name! You said this is your first year at Hogwarts? I think I heard you're from America right?
"Correct." She told him bluntly. Here came the real questions that she didn't want to answer, but if didn't answer and pushed aside any of them, it would look suspicious. "We moved there when I was just about to turn eleven."
Wow. So young and right before you would go to Hogwarts. Why did your parents decide to move away from the best school there is?
Her smile faltered slightly, but then she perked it back up to hide her burning desire to punch him in the face right then and there. Shifting slightly, she uncrossed her legs and sat up straight, her gaze staying on him. "My parents didn't believe it was "the best school there is" and I wasn't going to question them. I was about eleven and I knew my place to be obedient to my parents." She paused for a moment, a dark glint in her eyes and a smirk growing on her lips. "They didn't want me in a school where they knew someone could sway me from who we were; who I was meant to be."
That was the extent of what she would tell him about why they moved to America. Yes, it was because they wanted to train her themselves without any persuasion from other students or any teachers to be good. They knew how the teachers were at Hogwarts. They were there to teach the students to stay on the side of good, not of evil. Her parents had fought alongside Voldemort. They had the dark mark and they wanted her to follow in their footsteps. The perfect opportunity came when they received a letter from Keira O'Reily about her forming The Black Army. Dahlia's parents knew Keira's parents before they left. They were all family friends. Dahlia had even known Keira as a young girl. They were nine years apart. So when the letter came, her parents vowed to the woman that they would train Dahlia to the best of their ability to follow Keira and when she was ready, they would send her back to England to follow Keira; doing whatever she willed Dahlia to do.
I don't think I understand Dahlia... I apologize, Ms. Monroe. Who you're meant to be? Who are you meant to be?
"Dahlia is fine and what a silly question that is!" She started, her happy-go-lucky facade appearing once again. "I'm meant to be me!" She then laughed and shook her head at the man. After ceasing to laugh she cocked her head with a smile. "I'm meant to be the best I can be and to follow in my parent's footsteps. They're good people and I would do whatever it took to please them. I think that's about all there is to it."
I see. Let's switch gears then. Dahlia could tell he was suspicious by the tone in his voice and the look in his eyes. This interview wasn't going to end well and that didn't mean for her. Do you have any abilities you would like to share with me?
No, she thought to herself. She didn't want to share anything with him, but she had to go through this stupid thing. In fact, she didn't even know why. "Well, my parents taught me wandless magic and occlumency before I came back to England. They thought it would be helpful for me, you know? People don't need to know my thoughts! Plus, that's just rude. The wandless magic was just a bonus." She chuckled lightly, making the situation continue to be light so he continued not to truly suspect anything, even if he was starting to get suspicious of her. He could think what he wanted. He might not last very much longer.
Sweet! Those are good abilities to have and I agree with you. I wouldn't want people reading my thoughts either. So, did your parents come back to England with you?
A frown took hold of her features. It wasn't because of the question this time. This time, it was because of the answer she would have to give. "No." She said simply, but she knew he would ask where they were, so she continued. "My father is really sick right now, so he's still in America and my mother stayed to take care of him of course. They sent me back so I could be with people I know and not have to worry about the situation back home too much." All of it was the truth. Her father had fallen ill with something they couldn't cure by simple magic. The only lie was that they sent her back to be with people she knew so she could escape it. She was sent back because she was ready to join Keira and her army. She was ready to continue her true purpose.
Oh, I'm so sorry. Let's move away from that topic. I don't want to upset you. What about your love life?
Didn't want to upset her? That was just another topic she hated talking about the most. What was love? She didn't believe in it. She did once, but it was ruined. If she ever fell in love again, she'd have a heart attack most likely. Clearing her throat, she readied herself to answer him. "Another difficult topic." She told him with a slight chuckle. "But don't worry, I can answer it." She let out a sigh and then began. "I was in love once. It was two years ago. I was happy. We, were happy. I thought this boy would be the one and we'd live together for a long time, assuming we'd marry. I know it's silly to think that at fifteen. I know that now, but at the time I thought I had found the one. A year into the relationship I found out he had knocked up some other girl. Yeah, that's right. The boy cheated on me. Broke my heart too. So when you ask me about my love life, I say it's nonexistent and will stay that way. I don't believe in love anymore. I believe in sex. That's a fun little act. I'm sure you'd agree; you're a man." She chuckled slightly. She was now hoping that the interview was almost over. She was ready to get out of there.
Well, um... I don't always think about that miss... A.. Anyway. He clears his throat. Clearly she made him nervous and it was funny to her. Poor guy didn't know what was coming for him. Sadly, he picked the wrong girl to interview. Anything else you would like to tell us?
Dahlia was ready to leave. She wanted to get out of there and stop wasting her time with meaningless interviews such as this one. Plus, she didn't want her information everywhere. More people would ask more questions, especially about her move back and her parent's decisions. This was the end. "Sure, might as well get one thing off my chest." Dahlia said, pausing for a moment to study his features.
Alright. Please go on.
"I'm in the Black Army." And with that, she drew her wand as his eyes widened. "Avada Kedavra." A bright green light appeared from the tip of her wand and knocked the man backwards in his chair, instantly killing him. Standing up, she put her wand away and walked over to his lifeless body. Kneeling down, she collected the papers about her and then leaned close to his ear and spoke even though he couldn't hear her. "Sorry love, but you were quite annoying and I couldn't have someone who was suspicious about me running free. I'm sure you understand." Softly she pecked him on the cheek and then stood, leaving the room and the lifeless interviewer behind.
