Hugo had spent the last few days hating the summer already. It was only a week in, and he had spent every single second of it either in his room, showering, or eating. Grounded. Never meant to fly again, or so to speak. This summer was supposed to be transitional for him. He would be turning seventeen after the school year, he could spend the rest of his free sixteen year old self as a prisoner. But he is.
This morning. The sun, just rising; the birds, chirping softly. What more could you want? Maybe a bit of freedom to experience such a thing? Hugo wasn't usually one for mornings, by the time he woke up in the morning everyone was gone. Mum and Dad would be off to work, and his sister would be out doing something with friends or her boyfriend. Though, this summer had been different, a lot different. Mad, yes, but the grounding aided him in getting more sleep than normal. This allowed him to wake up early in the morning, focus on his own things, and not be influenced by anything outside the house. Though, today was also different. He woke up just in time to be alone most of the day. His parents were gone to work, just left actually, and his sister was probably still in bed, but that wasn't a worry. In his head, I am home alone and am going to be sixteen again, dammit! (Dramatic much..)
Though, he really was taking this by the horns. Once out of the shower, he spent the next few minutes walking around the house in a towel at the waist. He thought he would enjoy this more, but he quickly decided to put a pair of athletic shorts on. He made breakfast and was really trying to have a nice day to himself. He was going to make the best out of his grounding.
After he was done eating, he decided that he would go take in the last few moments of Sunrise and sit on the porch.

Rose laid in bed, her eyes staring up at the ceiling. It was early morning, she could tell that much by the light that was trying so desperately to sneak through her curtains. The just graduated Gryffindor wasn't sure how long she had slept, if any at all. It had only been a few days back that her and her cousins were discharged from the hospital after being attacked. With a sigh, she decided that she should probably get up, as she wouldn't be able to sleep in any longer. Rose was still having nightmares and flashbacks that sent her into panic attacks she'd much rather not have at that moment or anytime in the near future.
Pushing herself up into an upright position, Rose rubbed her eyes before moving the covers off of her and slowly bringing her legs to hang off the side of the bed, her bandaged leg clearly visible. Frowning, she reached over and grabbed her crutches to help hoist herself off the bed. Crossing the room, Rose lifted a hand from her crutch to open her bedroom door.before leaving the room. As she passed her brothers room she noticed he wasn't in bed, which meant he was either up and about or he left the house, which she sincerely hoped he didn't. He was in enough trouble from failing, he didn't need to add onto it by leaving when he was grounded.
When she had made her way to the front of the house, her eyes caught sight of the back of her brother's head outside on the porch. Deciding to forget about breakfast for the time being, she got herself slowly to the door before opening it and closing it behind her once she was outside. Sitting down beside her brother, she set her crutches to the side. For a moment she just stared ahead of them in thought and silence before she brought her tired eyes to focus on the boy beside her. "Morning Hugo." She said softly, mustering up a small smile. "How are you today?" Rose knew her brother wasn't happy about being kept up inside when he could be out enjoying his summer with his friends, but he should have worked harder to pass. However, she didn't have the energy to argue with him, so she felt it was best to leave it alone for now.

Hugo was so lost in his thoughts that he barely noticed the door screech open. But when she sat down, he looked a little stunned toward her. It wasn't that she was there, or that she seemed to just appear, no, it was the sight of seeing his sister so banged up. He had heard about the attack from his parents in a disarray of disappointment, sadness, and anger. He would, of course, put his issues on the back burner and try not to stare at his sister as if she were an injured puppy any longer. He knew she was strong willed and had a good sense about her. The fact that she was injured nearly from head to toe didn't seem to damper that at all. He took a moment to process her voice. He hadn't heard it in such a long time, it was odd.
He didn't really know how to answer that question, he was actually having a really good day for the first time in a while, but he didn't want to just go out and say he was having a good day. He could feel his face getting warm and his eyes welling up slightly. Seeing her like this wasn't exactly something he had been looking forward to.
He wasn't. Not any more. He saw how injured she really was and instantly felt horrible. He should've been there. His mind leaped to places that it probably shouldn't have, but it was Hugo. It should have been me... Where was Scorp?? Why didn't he do anything? Why wasn't I there? You could've died.. I'm sorry. His mind slowly began a race that was ended when he spoke, "There are some left over eggs, want any?" He was offering to get her some, "And I think Mum has some fresh squeezed OJ." he tried to deviate from their respective conditions. Her's was worse than his and suddenly his failing and having mum and dad mad at him didn't hold flame to what she had been through. He didn't know how to approach the topic, thus the deviation. He didn't want to come off mad as to why this happened. He didn't know the full details, but that talk could wait, for a brief moment. It was nice to have the company of his sister, again.

It was odd, for Rose to be sitting there in such a state with her brother. She knew he was worried about her and it was probably hurting him inside. She wished she could take away his pain. She wished she could take away everything that had happened to her and her cousins, but it happened and there was nothing she could do about it no matter how much she tried. Even trying to get it to escape from her thoughts was one of the hardest things to do, and it had become somewhat impossible. Every time she closed her eyes at night, she saw the attacks and the blood. She saw it all again and it kept her awake half the night. And if she did get to sleep, well then she would have nightmares about it. It was a never ending cycle that she just wanted to cease. She wanted to be okay again.
Hearing her brother's words, Rose shook her head. She could tell he was deviating from her question. How was her brother? Not only did he fail, but he was having to look his sister in the eye and pretend to be okay with the fact she was so hurt and crumbling slowly from the trauma. And then whatever else might be going on with him. She sincerely hoped he was okay. Tears forming in her eyes, Rose reached her hand over and took his, giving it a small squeeze. "Thank you for the offer, but I just want to sit here and talk with you. I just want to be with you for now, is that okay?" She asked him, her voice soft and a bit shaky as the tears started to flow from her eyes.
"Hugo, you know I love you, right?" She needed him to hear that. She needed him to know that she loved her brother. What if she didn't get to tell him that after the attack because the woman had killed her? What if she never got to see her brother again? It killed her to think she could have died without ever telling her brother again how much she loved him. She didn't say it enough, and she knew that. At that moment in time, she was not hungry. She just wanted time with him, to talk and to just be around him.

He pulled back from going to the kitchen, and kept his place next to her with a nod. He smiled through slowly rolling tears. He was happy he didn't have to leave her here. He was torn. He didn't know what to say, but he knew what he wanted to. What he wanted to say would most likely start a losing battle with himself, because once he started on the path he had in his head it just wouldn't cease. He would become angry, express his emotions in a bad way, and prove himself not Okay. "Yeah.. I'm okay." he lied. All too well, might I add. He didn't lie, but lately he had turned himself into a pro. "Don't worry about me, right now. Are you okay?" He turned his body toward her. He took a deep breath, trying to keep his calm. "You shouldn't be worrying about anything but yourself right now, 'kay?" He put his hands on his knees. Even though he had all the time to think this through the last week, he wanted nothing more than for it to be a bad dream, so he never did think about what he would say in this very conversation.
This visual wasn't okay for him. His mind started racing over everything again, and tears began dripping to the back of his hands. He hung his head and closed his eyes. He didn't know if he could hug her. In her shape, he was afraid he might hurt her. He couldn't do anything for her, could he? He could be there for her. Take care of her. Maybe it was best he was grounded, that meant he could be there with her at all times for the summer, until she was better. He looked back up to her with moistened eyes, streaked cheeks, and a quivering lip. "W.. What happened?.." He was hushed, but just loud enough to come off as words. He didn't want to make her relive it or anything, but he wanted to know. He wanted to know everything. Emotions began to build up again.
He tried staying calm. But as the thoughts became more like pictures in his head, he couldn't hold himself together anymore. He put his head back down because he didn't want her to see the anger that was building behind his tears. His faced began to seem like it was saying, Who do I have to kill? Hugo had never had any kind of though remotely close to that before. Someone messed with his family, and in his head something needed to be done. He knew who it was. I swear to GOD, if it's the last thing I do, I'll kill the bitch who messed with my sister. His thoughts were scaring even him, but he was too mad to even have a hint of fear expressed.
