A CHILD--unlike any other
Edward was born July 13th, 2001. Yes, that was a Friday. He was a strange child. Vain. Always making everything about his appearance perfect. From the time he was seven, he was completely bathing himself, dressing himself, doing his own hair, and the like. He put himself on an extremely healthy diet as a kid as well. A work out regimen by the time he turned ten. He became and extreme health nut. Only eats vegetarian. Once his letter came, everything just fell into place for him. He knew he wasn't a squib, so he wouldn't be killed off, and he knew he was the only boy. A prize possession for his father. He was just like him, almost down to every fine detail. Except for one. He doesn't really care what blood you have or how you got it. But then again... if you AREN'T magical at all, he has a fascist quality about him and muggles are really no use to him, at all.
A BOY-- is one to smother
Being the first Avery child to go off to Hogwarts and get sorted, there was no shock in his sort into Slytherin. When the hat was placed on his head, his real intentions were divulged. Not that anyone of any pertinence heard the hat speak, "Ahh.. but of course. An AVERY... One family not to be trifled with.. oh, but of course not.. You.. You seem to be a Hufflepuff... if it weren't for.. Disloyalty.. deep down, I can see it... I can feel it.. Boy.. You need to learn who your friends are.. Who it is you can trust. That will help you on the way to greatness. Oh boy.. Slytherin might just be the perfect fit for you. Yes.. I see it now. Dark.. You have an air about you. Something less fragile than one would think. A Discipline that you forced upon yourself. To.. not get in trouble with your family? They are a harsh sort, you know. Oh in due time, my boy, in due time. Better be.. SLYTHERIN!" After his sorting, he walked over to the Slytherin table, confused as all get out. He knew what some of that meant, but most of it would be on the back ends of his mind until about his third year. Yes, in his third year is when things REALLY started to open for him. In his third year, he found that he wasn't so different from any kind of muggle. The only thing that did make him different was his family tree and magical ability. He started to see just how wrong his family was about everything dealing with people. Of course, he still had no use for muggles. They were dirty to him. Disgusting.
A TEENAGER-breaking it in
As he grew older he noticed some things coming into play. He felt urges he had never experienced before, and they were strong. Moving into his fourth year, he had looked up so many things about what was going on with his body physically, and he found out about puberty and what not all on his own. Like his cynical parents had any time for him now. They were too busy dealing with Piper's femininity and Feryn's disobedience, that he had no choice. He knew they loved him, but in a way this was a lot better. No awkward conversations. No feeling the need to tell them what was going on with him. After all, not every parent wants to hear how their only son like girls AND boys. Nor would they like to hear that he has pretty much slept with everything his age that could breathe... He had a reputation for that, though. He was the go to guy.. If you had an itch that needed scratching, just get his attention.
A YOUNG ADULT-and his evil grin
In his many years at Hogwarts, Edward became accustomed to using his middle name. He goes by Edward for formality, but most people had begun to call him Ed.. He hated Ed.. So, he started having people call him Gunnar, or Gunn, in his fourth year. It fit him. He was quick, dangerous, and mean. Clearly, he thought this one through. As much of a player that he is, certain girls still pulled out that softer side of him. Take Feryn for example. No, not that softer side. Feryn is on of his little sisters. The traitor as she would be seen. But he loved her. He wanted nothing more than to be able to talk to her and be around her again, but he couldn't. She had been caught with that Muggleborn boy one too many times. Their bitch of a sister, Piper, had been looking for something to get Feryn in trouble. Well, she got what she wanted. Of course, if it had been Edward walking through that day, he would have protected Feryn. Though, there wasn't much he could do now. He could keep an eye on her from a distance, he knew if he actually helped her out in any way to avoid to ferocity of their father, Piper would go right on with being daddy's little girl. It irritated him to no end to know that this all could have been avoided. But out of the three, Edward really understood what it meant to be allied with his father, or against his father. It meant the same for everyone, child of him, or not, betrayal is betrayal. Though, Edward also knows that his father doesn't seem to fully understand the term. A fight had broke out once..
"No Dad! She didn't betray you! Just because she is your daughter doesn't mean she has to believe and do everything that you do! "Don't get spry with me, boy! Do you know who you're talking to! Want to label yourself like she did?! That filthy little brat. Fraternizing with a muggle... Disgusts me!" "Muggle born, dad.. There is a difference... She could have started dating someone with no magical ability at all?! How would you feel then!? Just let it be!"
She doesn't even know that fight had happened. Of course, Edward's loyalties lied with his father. With the BA, but he loved his sister. Understood why she did what she did. Hates her for it... but would never hold it against her. He took lashes for that, and three days chained. Something about needing to purge that rebellion before Edward starts to take sides opposing his father. It had worked. Those three days turned him even colder. He looked out for his sister, sure, but never again would he defend her to his father. Unless it meant her life, but other than that, he was changed. Forever an ally to the Avery family.
AN ADULT--for personal gain
Once Edward reached his twenties, there was nothing his father could do to actually control him anymore. He was out of the house. Sure, there were things he could do, just less severe and more gesturing. Of course, as long as Edward expressed loyalty, there was no need for any kind of elimination. He knew that his father would do it too. Without any kind of notice, just end him, if he ever found out that there was any kind of Betrayal. Edward was glad that didn't happen to Feryn. No matter how angry Edward got, family was family. There was no ending them voluntarily for him. Of course, he would end someone else, another life outside the family wouldn't be too hard. He had never taken a life. Virginities.. plenty. Near death assaults, a few. Never had he killed anyone, or anything. There was still a piece of humanity left in him, and he would be keeping it there for as long as his current situation would allow. He pops his head in at home every so often to see Piper and his mom and just to fill them in on what's been going on. Making it a point to never cross his tracks. He would die if his father found out he had been straying from the family business. He had been working his butt off at the bar, trying to save enough money to eventually not need the profits of his family. Of course, he would remain loyal to the BA and keep his sanity by knowing pain. He may be a ruthless ass hat, but he for sure doesn't want to be so much like his father that he can't find his own individuality.
A LIFE--now led unchained
A Hogwarts grad with a love for DADA, Potions, and life itself. He holds no bound to almost anyone. Except for Leyshell, a childhood friend and confidant. She is a pureblood, so his father could care less about him spending time with her. She really is the only person, besides Feryn, that he isn't his dark and evil self around. No, around Feryn he is much worse, some would say. He expressed compassion and trust. Something his father would never want to see. And he is the same around Leyshell. More so Leyshell, just because he does have his own anger toward Feryn for her disloyalty. But don't think, for a single second, he wouldn't entrust her with his life. She is his sister after all. You've heard enough about her, onto his more important life details. He loves his bartending job for a few reasons. The local drunks share the gossip of the magical world once they have a few drinks in them. Of course, for business purposes, Edward knows how to dose a customer into relinquishing all the secrets they know. However, sometimes it is just better not to know. He likes his life, not tied down to anyone, not forced to live a certain way, checking in with the BA and family occasionally. Of course, his job has to be somewhat of an act. He wouldn't make any good tips if he was his normal cruel and vicious self. Though, he does enjoy bringing out his ego for a few laps in hottie heaven when certain a certain level of attractiveness comes through the doors of Hog's Head. Boy or girl, he doesn't care, as long as they are okay with his selfish-lover ways and his player mentality. Oh, and of course, he will go all 50 Shades of Grey on you, so do not tread lightly or think he is a man to love for someone with a faint heart. Every now and then he will make his way to the piano and play a few tunes. He will also sing a little, if that means getting some attention. That is one of the key ingredients to his softer side. He loves classical romantic music.
Currently, he is hoping he can play double agent. He doesn't know truly where he wants to be. He wants to reconnect with Feryn, but keep ties to his family. How can he do that? Must he keep both sides completely oblivious? Will that destroy him in the end? Or will his father just know, and end him himself? Will Feryn even allow someone so mad at her near her? Even if it Edward..? I hope this poor boy finds his way. Of course, there are also his inner insecurities. He knows he can't be soft. His soft side will eventually destroy him if he lets it take over. Which means he would have to sacrifice being back in his sister's good thoughts. Though, she still needs to make it into his good thoughts. Will he allow his softer side to coexist with his darker, and more prominent personality? Or will the darkness take over and make him a calloused man with no fear of losing the ones he loves?
