While relieved for Christmas break, Matt realized just how bored he managed to get when there weren't all that many people near his home to hang out with. Granted if he stayed, there wouldn't be many to chat with either. Granted Aaron was around, but Mel was always wanting to drag Aaron off to Merlin only knew where to do whatever she had planned. Tommy was often times busy as well, though Matt had to wonder if that was more studying even more due to having to repeat fifth year, or maybe just spend a lot of time with the girl he had been talking to, and possibly dating? Matt wasn't too sure there, but then again there was a lot he just wasn't sure on. He did know for sure that he wasn't going to be sitting around bored at home, so the plan for him was to get out of bed, eat breakfast, and then head out to relax, even if it was going to be cold outside. What was a little cold in exchange for a chance to just be outdoors and maybe find somewhere new to poke around and explore? Or maybe he'd get lucky and find someone new to hangout with. There was no guarantee of either of those, though he knew he just had to try.
Dressed in a black and gray snow coat over a red long-sleeved shirt, blue jeans, black snow boots, and black gloves, Matt was ready to combat the weather to say the least. The problem was that he wouldn't be able to bring his guitar along as he would be prone to do in warmer weather. He just had to accept that he couldn't really play all the time like he had hoped. Making his way from his house, he looked around a bit before opting to head off to where the nearby lake was, a place he tended to go to during winter break due to it being frozen over and there really only being a few ice skaters out there. Arriving at the lake, he opted to sit on a bench that was thankfully cleared of snow before watching the different ice skaters. He watched them for a few minutes before hearing the snow-crunching footsteps of someone approaching where he was seated, causing him to look and see who it was. Well good news was that there was someone to talk to today after all, so he hoped. Word Count: 411 Tag: Anyone Notes: Open season on this one XD

Harley was out on Christmas break, and she was bored out of her mind, and she wasn't sure what she wanted to do. She knew she has to get out of the house. Harley sighed. It was saturday. Everyone was going to be out on saturday but she was pretty sure she wouldn't run into of her friends while she was out and about but that wasn't going to stop her at least. Harley quickly grabbed some breakfast, which was a piece of toast with some butter, and some coffee. Coffee was a muggle drink. She didn't know many wizard who drank much coffee. She knew Hogwarts didn't offer it. Harley drank it down. Her mom gave her a little look. She gave her mother a small smile, and nodded. She knew her mother wasn't happy about her going out in the snow, but honestly, harley didn't care. Harley just realize she was still in her jammies. Oops. She knew she couldn't go out like that. That was probably why her mother gave her such a strange look.
Harley quickly rushed up to her room, and looked around for something to wear. She decided on a pair of dark wash jeans, a white comfy t-shirt, a long sleeve sweater to go over it, and some winter boots, and of course , the basic undergarments. She quickly dressed, and gazed at herself in the mirror. She looked like a hot mess, but honestly, she didn't care. She pulled her hair into a tight ponytail. She smiled softly at least in the mirror. She raced down the stairs, and waved at her mother as she rushed out the door. She pulled her winter coat close to her body. She grabbed it when she rushed out the door. She continued to walk, and walk. Her legs starting to burn with a dull ache. She stumbled around a boy she knew from school. She recognized him but she didn't remember his name. She smiled , and sat next to him on the bench. "Hi" Harley said quietly as she watched the ice skaters as well.

"Oh, well hello," he replied with a smile and a nod. He was definitely glad he wasn't going to be bored out here, and that was to say the least. The girl looked familiar, and at best he figured maybe having seen her in passing or in classes back at Hogwarts. The problem was there was a lot of people that he saw in class or in passing back in Hogwarts, and that was where he lost any clue to most people he passed by or shared a class with. Granted it could have been very likely that the girl's name was closer to the front of his mind than he realized, but what didn't help he figured, was that she probably wasn't a Gryffindor, and she seemed to at most two years older than him, give or take a few months either way. Well, about the only real way he'd find out was if he either asked, or waited to see if she even said. Of course, one way to lure that out without asking was simply giving that much information himself.
"Matt Johanson, fifth year Gryffindor," he then said as an introduction of sorts. Granted, that usually was the best way to introduce yourself, stating your name and occupation or year and house if you were still a student. The chances the girl would actually follow suit outside of just saying her name was up in the air, which he actually didn't mind too much except that it did limit getting to know her to any degree at all, and that made it harder to judge on just how good a friend she might have been. Figuring he shouldn't rush to any conclusions on if she'd be a good friend or not just yet, Matt took a moment to observe a couple of skaters who had passed by the corner of his eye. He wouldn't have cared had they not been skating as if preparing for a figure-skating competition of some kind, something he knew was more a muggle sport. It was fun to watch though as it was almost an art the way the skaters glided across the ice like they did. He would've kept watching more, but the fifteen seconds he did was more than he should've with someone else around. Harley listened to the guy next to her say hello. She didn't know if she should smile or not at him. He seemed nice enough because he did say hello back to her when she said hi, so maybe this was going to be a pleasant conversation after all. Harley didn't have very many friends. She actually had two. It was Nina and Lorcan. She only had two actual friends. She wasn't sure why but she found that thought quite sad, and depressing. Nina was a 7th year hufflepuff like herself, and was her only female friend, and there was Lorcan. He was one of greatest friends. Lorcan, and herself had a interesting past to say the least. They had a fling that neither them liked to talk about, because it was awkward, and makes conversation uncomfortable. Harley came out of her thoughts quickly, and turned her attention back to the boy in front of her. She smiled as her introduced himself. " Nice to meet you Matthew."She said in with a friendly tone in her voice. " I am Harley Ashbrook. 7th year Hufflepuff." harley spoke with a bit of confidence in her voice. Confidence for Harley was quite a rare thing. She was the type of girl that like to say in the background and blend in but that was quite impossible. Harley was a gorgeous girl even though she wouldn't admit it.
Harley had wheat colored hair, and ocean blue eyes. Harley was thin, and tall. She stood out because everyone thought she was at least half veela which she wasn't. She was flattered when people asked her if she was half veela, but she wasn't. She didn't have the veela temper either but she was pretty. Harley actually wished she was ugly some of the time because people would stop asking her strange questions, and leave her alone. These types of thoughts plagued her daily, and she hated that she thought so much, but Harley was worry wort, and nothing would have change. She shook her head as if to shake the thoughts out of her brain, but it didn't seem to work. She turned her attention about to Matthew. So what brings you here" Harley questioned

"Nice to meet you as well, Harley," he replied with a nod and a smile. Seventh year, and a Hufflepuff. Well that answered his questions as to where he may have seen her before if at all, and why he hadn't really known who she was. Well, that was no longer the case now was it? He had gotten her name out of her, as well as the fact that she's two years older than he was, something he hadn't really cared about when talking to people anyways. Granted, once upon a time he would've been hard-pressed to talk to anyone, even his own father. That had been changed last year, but now he was trying to get passed what had gotten him out of his shell, and that in a sense had led him to have a mask if not a whole new shell to be stuck in. He did know a few people that were probably going to work on breaking him of that shell, including a girl that had caught his interest, but nothing was really guaranteed these days. About all he had was school and just talking to his friends, albeit with a slight wall around.
"Just a chance to get out and about, relax in the snow, and maybe talk to whoever felt fit to be in the area and engage in a bit of conversation," he replied with a shrug before adding "and yourself?" with some curiosity. He was serious about relaxing in the snow as if done right, it was possible to get into the snow in such a way as to be warm rather than cold. Granted it was the weight and the absorbed heat that did that, but he was more interested in the conversation at hand at the moment. Burying himself in the snow could happen later, and at any rate, he'd end up dealing with enough snow should his sister and her boyfriend come around, wanting to have a snowball fight. That was always possible, considering Mel and Aaron, but there was little reason to worry about that until they came around, causing havoc as they felt necessary. Then again Aaron was definitely a voice of reason to Mel, if only at times and only when she listened. Word Count: 379 Tag: HARLEY TAYLOR ASHBROOKNotes:
