Ellen was really excited to be back at Hogwarts, but she was even more excited for the New Years Party! It was going to be a blast hanging out with her friends, maybe making some new friends, and just having a great time. She was absolutely loving life and living on a high. In the Hufflepuff common room, girls were getting ready here and there and Ellen helped out a few younger students with their makeup and hair as she saw the need for it. She finally was able to get to her own makeup, hair, and outfit, which she was totally excited about. El's hair fell curled at her shoulders as she slipped into a short, gold rhinestoned dress and a pair of black heels. She slipped on a pair of black chandelier earrings then disappeared from the common room, heading into the night.
Ellen found her way to the party in the Great Hall and grinned as she entered. The laser show lights were dancing across the dance floor just as she would be momentarily. She smiled and waved to a few familiar faces, then decided to head toward the punch bowl for a drink while she waited for her friends to get there.

From talking of boys to hair and make-up and to drinking (for those that were allowed), the Slytherin common room was alive with excitement. Tonight was the New Years Eve party. Daenerys, who often goes by Avery or Grey, had just walked down to the common room where most of the commotion was taking place. As she scanned the room she noticed many girls were trying too hard whether by wearing a too revealing dresses or having too much make-up on. She chuckled at the girls' desperateness. Daenerys had dressed in a simple black dress that fell just above her knee. The dress cinched at her waist slightly and small pleats. Paired along with plain black heels and minimal jewelry Daenerys felt sexy and sophisticated. Much more than what these girls were accomplishing. Daenerys tossed a bit of her hair over her shoulder and exited the common room. As she made her way up to the Great Hall she wondered how many people were coming to this party coupled up. Daenerys had not been asked as a date but was flying solo which she was accustomed to. She enjoyed the solid click of her heels on the stone floor giving her confidence with each step. Heels, to Daenerys, could instantly make a woman alluring. Finally reaching the entrance Daenerys entered an otherwise empty room. She was quite surprise to see the lack of testosterone since they usually don't fuss about getting ready, but more than likely most were waiting on their female friends/companions to finish their touch ups. Daenerys liked the look of the laser lights bouncing off of objects. She decided to walk over to the refreshment table to check out what was available, especially in the alcohol department. Picking up a cup, after being checked that she was of age for the night, filled with firewhiskey she took a sip feeling the burning sensation make its way down. What else was she going to do to kill time? [/style] [style=background-color: #a6846e; padding: 10px;][/style][/style]

Katrina wasn't one to be particularly emotional about a lot of things, but it really hit her a bit. It was January of her final year at Hogwarts. Such a weird feeling. Was she worried about graduating? Definitely not. She was even getting the hang of Ancient Runes now thanks to Bryce's help. But still... Hogwarts had changed her life. It gave her two best friends, many more friends to follow, and last but not least an amazing boyfriend. Hogwarts also allowed her to express her artistic side and even become Art Club Captain for two years. Despite whatever depression she had been going through early on, and what she went through after her mother passed on, Hogwarts had been good to her and she would miss it. For now, she enjoyed the beginning of the end of her time at Hogwarts at the New Year's Party. Sure she had her cool, laid back look as usual, but she also looked about for various folks to chit chat with as she sipped her butterbeer. She also hoped she could spot Thalia, Ali, or Bryce in the crowd. Katrina then spotted Daeneyrs Greyback, a girl from her House and year. With a shrug, she stepped over to her. "Hey Daeneyrs, how goes it?" she asked. "The Christmas thing go well for you?" Her voice was sincere of course. While Kat was known for her good-natured sarcasm, she was never cold or vindictive whatsoever. DAENERYS AVERY GREYBACK

As Ellen got a drink for herself, she noticed Daenerys Greyback walk over to do the same. Ellen had, up to that point, been very shy and kept to herself. She hardly had the guts to talk to Slytherins - until now. She mustered up the courage and approached Daenerys just as Katrina Bayne did, downing her confidence slightly. She waited as Katrina talked and then looked up from her shoes, wondering if they would even acknowledge her presence. She had to take a chance, though, had to be bold. If Ellen waited forever for people to start the conversation, then she would never make new friends or even enemies. She had decided that it was time to take a chance. Gaining enemies would at least leave room for people to know who she was, even if it was for bad reasons. She didn't want to graduate Hogwarts with no one knowing her name.
"Uh hey," she said with a smile, then wished she could smack herself. Uh hey? What are you thinking?! she thought. Ellen sucked it up and carried forward; of course making conversation with people she didn't know was going to be awkward at first, but Ellen was going to try and push past it. After all, it could lead to friendships. "I don't think we've ever talked before but you're...Katrina, right? And Daenerys?" Of course Ellen knew their names because Hogwarts wasn't that big of a school; no, the mortifying thing taunting her thoughts was if they would know her name at all.

The room was still lacking in guests and Daenerys could not help but shake her head slightly as she imagined how many students were attempting the fashionably late look. As she sipped her fire whiskey she wondered just exactly how her night would go. Would she be sociable or remain in the shadows. Daenerys was a situational type of person, her personality was not always consistent. Her actions were mainly affected by her moods and lately she had not been in a cheery mood lately due to her father's arrest by his own flesh and blood. Vincent Greyback should not even be honored with such a surname after betraying their father in such a manner. Now, Daenerys was without a mentor and guide. Of course she had her mother but what use was she really in the werewolf department? Daenerys debated if drowning her problems in fire whiskey for the night would end up helping or not. Most would argue for the latter however Daenerys felt that either way she would end up escaping her problems just for one night whether it turned out to be a good time or backfired.
As Daenerys contemplated which road she was aiming for a fellow Slytherin walked up to her asking her how Christmas had gone for her. To be quite honest it had not gone all that well and Daenerys couldn't be happier to be back. Daenerys knew that the girl was called Katrina Bayne but that was about the extent of her knowledge of her house mate. Daenerys gazed at Katrina deciding to answer her instead of just walking away. Perhaps the conversation would lead somewhere that would distract Daenerys from her thoughts. With a shrug she replied, "It was alright, although I can't say I'm not a bit relieved to be back." Christmas was usually a pleasant time for Daenerys however her mother being in a depression and all over Fenrir was not a setting for a happy holiday. "How about yours?" She questioned, attempting to make small talk.
Daenerys was a bit confused when the Hufflepuff girl came walking up to her and the other Slytherin. It was understandable seeing as there was no one else really around besides of the staff however Daenerys wondered if she had some welcoming expression on her face that she was unaware of. Usually people didn't approach her so easily and for good reason most of the time. Daenerys simple nodded at the seemingly uncomfortable Hufflepuff acknowledging her name. Daenerys honestly did not have much interest and getting to know her but again if it led to some type of distraction then Daenerys might be tempted. The best distraction was coming from the cup of alcohol that she kept bringing to her lips every so often.

Kat could tell something had happened to sour Daenerys' Christmas, but she wouldn't annoy the girl by asking any further detailed questions. Kat wasn't crazy about talking about things that really bugged her so she didn't want anyone else to be forced into doing so. "It was nice," she said. "Spent some time with the boyfriend and my flat mate Sofie. Got to visit my mum and chat with her. Her burial site was really pretty in the snow, more than I expected." Her first Christmas without her mother was a hard one, but Kat tried to speak of things in as positive a light as possible. When the Hufflepuff Girl walked up, Kat was a bit more welcoming than Daenerys. This was because Kat had no bias against any other House. She always found the whole idea of superiority within Slytherin to be ridiculous and pointless. She gave Ellen a small smile and nod of greeting. "Yep... we have certainly neglected the convo," she said with her usual good-natured sarcasm. "Ellen, right? So how was... how has your year... yeah, I'm not good at this. Um... what's up?"ELLEN MARIBEL ACKERLEY DAENERYS AVERY GREYBACK
