When Serena was seventeen, she became pregnant with Giovanni's baby, and the two were wed for the sake of the child. Elijah was born, everything seemed like it was a fairytale and the three of them were going to live happily ever after. However, Giovanni had a drinking addiction from which he hid from Serena well for years, until when Eli was two and their money started disappearing at an alarming rate. Serena's reaction was not to break off the marriage or to yell at him, but simply to help. That is when their relationship turned even more sour. Giovanni was not a man who needed a woman's help, or any help for that matter. From there on out, Giovanni regularly abused Serena, mentally and sometimes physically. Luckily, he never touched Eli. So Elijah grew up in a home filled with lots of arguments and yelling, but it didn't bother him as much as it should of, because he was used to it. He never saw the physical abuse until he was 9, when he walked in on his mom and dad in a physical altercation where Giovanni was clearly winning. To scare Eli. Giovanni pushed him into a wall and hit him a few times, sparing him of the wrath that his mother clearly has faced- it was evident in the bruises up concentrated on her chest and her upper arms. Eli healed up and scared to death of what his father would do to the both of them, he never said a word. When Elijah was eleven, his Hogwarts letter arrived and it made everyone in the household happy for a short while. His parents were both proud that their son was also a wizard, magical like them. Serena was happy that he would be safe from his father for most of the year, Giovanni was happy that more money could go towards booze rather than a child, and most of all Eli was happy that he would possibly get some peace and make more friends than he could in the little Irish town he was raised in. So off to Hogwarts he went, where he did relatively well in his classes and even found out that he had a burning passion for pulling mischievous pranks. Things were finally looking up for Eli, who had Hogwarts to look forward to while he was stranded in his chaotic home for the summer. When Elijah was 13 and home during the summer holidays, Serena and Giovanni were arguing in the kitchen in the middle of the night over Giovanni coming home late once again. Elijah was upstairs but crept down to keep an eye on things, making sure that Gio wouldn't do too much damage on Serena in a drunken rage. Their house was particularly messy today, though it was never very clean to begin with. That was the day his life changed forever- Giovanni leapt at Serena and tackled her to the ground over some small comment she made about his manly pride, and in the process, they knocked over a burning candle. The mess made it easy for things to go up in flames, and in a drunken and furious state, Giovanni used the fire to his advantage. While Serena was trying to get Elijah (whom they did not know was witnessing all this from the stairs) and get him out safe, Giovanni kept blocking her way, trapping her in the kitchen which was now in flames. Elijah had a delayed reaction from the shock of it all, but made his way (slowly) to the kitchen, thanks to all the mess on the floors. Giovanni saw this and panicked, deciding to deal with the woman who always "insulted" him and had been his biggest problem- He grabbed a pan on a counter not yet in flames, hit her over the head, and pushed her into the flames. Not wanting to face consequences or deal with his forever tarnished image, he looked at Eli and then allowed himself to fall in the flames. Elijah, loyal to his mother, tried to help by using water from the sink to both wake her up and to put out the flames on her, but it didn't work. Elijah was forced to escape by himself, which was a very difficult task due to the mess in the house and the fire which was engulfing the place. He managed to get outside safely with the only physical injury on him being the hand and forearm of his right hand- where he tried to grab his mother to drag her out. However, he suffered and continues to suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which has slowly gotten better to manage over time. Fire, even the smallest amount, triggers flashbacks and panic attacks, and he still has trouble sleeping and deals with nightmares. He keeps the experience a secret from all at Hogwarts to this day and tries to maintain a normal image and attitude, despite rumors and ridiculous stories being made up about his new jumpy, panicky personality, and his new burn scar. The only good thing that came out of it was that his wealthy aunt on his mother's side took him in, and he now has a bittersweet peaceful house for the summers. hey guys, my name is TIGER! and I am rocking it at 18 years old, role-playing for roughly 8 years - so i'm pretty chill with anything. i'm in the EST time zone, and hail from USA so how about that! currently my character looks just like Kevin Flamme or so i am told!
