Dariell was a fairly happy person. Maybe not the happiest of people but despite his stressful times more recent he still had a family that he loved. Loyal to two sides of the playing field life was never easy when it came to his biological family and his married family. His wife didn't like his brother because of his eccentric personality and who he had married, this turned into a hotspot that Dariell believed was one of the few reasons that he was still very loyal to his wife, she wouldn't allow their daughter to spend time with her cousin. Dariell cared very much for Bryony and was always very proud of her. She was the one thing that didn't make him go completely mad from being torn in two and hide away forever to paint until he died.
Oh painting. That was what Dariell was doing today. Up in his art studio of an office in their home he was sat in front of an easel as he painted the strokes across the canvas. This was one of his muggle pieces that he was working on. He was painting a piece that showed the beauty of the bustle of the main of London. He had been there not too long ago and had become inspired by the bustle. His memory had latched onto a beautiful scene with so many people from London and Foreign alike. A big melting pot of people. This was what he wanted others to see in his own world. He wasn't sure if in the end he would charm it to bring it to life or just leave it completely still.
The blue eyes scanned his painting as he worked a bit more on it. His arm carefully dipped into the colors and mixed across the palate that he needed to make the correct color. He would leave this room later in the day and his wife would most like tell him to wash up. He always ended up covered in the stuff. This is why he had very few articles of clothing that were actually decent enough for any occasion other than painting. Maybe Dariell wasn't as normal as he thought.
Dariell was happy for one thing, his wife was out of the house for a bit and that meant that it would be quiet fore a bit as long as she stayed out of the house. That meant that he would be able to actually get some more work done on painting than he normally would.

Maybe this was a bad idea. Bryony shifted on her feet nervously as she looked in the mirror. She had asked if Preston would take her home so she could break the news to her father in person, something she hardly could say she was looking forward to doing. Ever since they had confirmed her fears Bryony had a number of sleepless nights. She had imagined just about every possibly way her father would take the news and none of it ever seemed to be well. She swallowed and tugged at her shirt, it was still so early that she didn't have to worry about showing but she still knew that secret that lay with in her. she pressed her hands into her lower abdomen and sighed. It was just one more thing she couldn't put off, they still had yet to go to the healer - she wasn't about to let her parents find out from someone other than herself no matter how terrifying that was. Walking out of the bathroom she made her way into the living area of Preston's flat. She had lost count of how many times she had been over here since they got the news, but it was the only place she knew they could go where they could just be alone and deal with coming to terms with the life they now had ahead of them. "Preston?" She called out peeking around the corners of the apartment to see where her boyfriend was seeing as she had taken much longer than she told him she would to get ready for this visit home. When she spotted him she offered up a small smile, though her nerves were showing though. She never was good at hiding her true feelings from him, and it was becoming increasingly harder as the days passed. "I guess I'm ready as I'll ever be..."" There was a lack of confidence in her voice and a hint of dread. She had imagined all the difference ways her father was going to be disappointing in her, and of course there was an itching fear that he might take a page from her mother's book and make an attempt on Preston's life. Her hufflepuff father. She sighed to herself and reached out her hand to Preston. She'd given him the option to just take her there and leave, save his own skin for another day but he was stubborn as always. She only hoped that at the end of the day she would still have a boyfriend because she hardly thought she was cut out for doing this on her own. In some ways Bryony wished magical travel was as slow as muggle, maybe then she could have had more time to think, or more time to figure a way to avoid this conversation. But when she found herself in the home she knew all to well she found herself looking around as if it was a place she'd never been to before. "Its quiet, Dad must be gone so guess we should go." When she looked to Preston with the smallest sheepish grin she could manage she knew that wasn't going to fly. She sighed again, frustrated. "He'll be in his art studio..." Pulling on his hand Bryony lead the way up the stairs to the part of the house that had always been her little sanctuary, the place that she had always felt safe and happy surrounded by her father's talent. Each step felt like it took a life time. When she reached the door she stopped and dropped Preston's hand "...just..wait here a minute, okay?" Her voice was barely a whisper, but she wanted to see her dad alone first, she wasn't sure what to say, but she wanted one moment before his thoughts on her were ruined. One last moment where he still might be somewhat proud of her. Placing her hand on the door handled she took a deep breath and turned it before poking her head in. "Dad?" She spotted him behind his canvas, a scene that she had seen so many time before. A little corner of bliss, that was what this room was to her. How many times had she hid among his paintings - basking in the glow of the colors, surrounded by the beautify of his strokes. She could feel her eyes welling up with tears that she quickly brushed away. "Hey Dad." She stepped in the room and closed the door behind her before stepping closer to where her father was. Covered in paint with a look in his eye that she had always cherished. She wondered if he could tell something was wrong, if he could see past the front she was trying so hard to keep. His cowardly little girl. She moved to her father and wrapped her arms tightly around him, she could smell the paints on him, he smelt like home. Drawing back she took a deep breath and tried to find her words. "I meant to write you, tell you I was coming by but...I thought Mum would stick around if I did that...sort of just wanted to see you-" None of her words came out the way she wanted them to and she found herself shifting nervously from foot to foot. "See, there's someone I wanted you to meet - my...well he's my...." The words stopped coming and she felt panicked. She flashed her father a nervous smile, this was all too new, she'd never introduced a boyfriend to her father before - let alone one who had impregnated her. "I wanted you to meet my boyfriend...in person...here. Today. I brought him, or well he brought me, because - he wanted to meet you too." Oh this was not how she meant to say her words. She was all flustered. She only hoped that Preston would disregard her request and come in and try and save this - that was if there was any saving this. Bryony was almost positive that this could only go down hill and rather quickly at that. words: 1017 tag: PRESTON JANDON SHERWOOD DARIELL BRICE MOONBERRYnotes: bryony says if she knew how she would try and keep this from her mother till her death bed >.> and sorry for the rambles @_@

Preston wasn't sure whether he was completely sane by going to meet Bryony's father. He was many things but a coward he not, he couldn't back out. He waited standing against the doorway of the kitchen for her to get ready. He could tell she was nervous, she was an open book and he loves that about her. Of course he loved everything about her, including her stubbornness but that was another story. When she finally came out he gave her a reassuring smile or at least tried to. He was sure his life was the only one on the line right now. Hopefully her father wouldn't recognize his last name as anything but a wealthy pureblood name. Surely any red flags tied to his name would make this so much worse.
She couldn't be more than two months along, it was a miracle that they caught it before she started to show. Hopefully her dad was as nonviolent as she was. He wanted to put this meeting off but he knew he had to do it, they had to do it. So many things he wanted to put off but this was one that he had to man up and do. The trip was quicker than he remembered, maybe it was because he wanted it to go slower. He figured while they were out they could see how much cleaning the manor needed. It was going to be a long day and if he survived the meeting it would be a miracle.
He raised an eyebrow, as if to question whether or not he should truly give the statement a honest reply. She seemed to decided to just accept the fact they were going to do this. It wasn't as if there was anything harder than her parents being informed. After it was just the pregnancy, birth and raising them, she'd be an adult soon and then they could work it out from there. Even as he planned it out in his he was sure it wouldn't turn out that way for them. Everything seemed to go a bit pear shaped with them, at least where plans were involved.
He nodded, he'd give her three minutes, three minutes of trying to get this over with before he interfered but only if he had to. Of course he wanted to be there when they told him the news but she wanted to introduce him or whatever. He listened to her stumble through her words with his eyes on his watch. After a painful three minutes, he knocked on the door before slowly opening it and stepping in. Gosh he and parents didn't mix well, he had to remember to use manners and respectful tones and such, it made him sick. "hello, im Preston Sherwood"
He stood there as he always did confident, withdrawn and wondering how the he he got in the predicament he found himself in. He didn't know what to shake his hand? Blurt out he knocked up his sixteen year old daughter and she was about two months along. Definitely not, he just hoped his last name wasn't recognized right away.

Dariell had been happily adding another person to his painting with very key details when he heard the doorknob to his studio turn and the door creaked itself open. He didn't look up right away assuming it was Flora here to come beckon him to do something that he was fairly rubbish at, like fixing a cabinet or something. She was always finding things for him to do instead of letting him just be. The room that he sat in was covered in paintings some of which were done and others were still a work in progress. So many things inspired him that he started some projects that would never be a finished project. One of his favorites though sat on the opposite wall of where he sat so he could look at it often. It was the night sky with a beautiful grass landscape, this one was one of the first ones that he'd been able to properly charm. This was the one that he'd look at whenever he needed a moment to think. A place that he could zone out to and watch the stars.
He looked up when he heard the words spoken to him. ”Dad?” His blue eyes popped up from the canvas and he was a little worried. What was she doing not in Hogwarts right now? She should be safely at that school and not standing in front of him in his studio. She walked in and it felt like she pretended nothing was amiss in the studio at the moment. ”Bryony? What are you...?” he asked carefully. He moved his hand away from the canvas and plopped the paint brush into his cup of water. The question was should he have given her a chance to explain or go right ahead and ask her why she was here? He decided to go with the former. He always had trusted his daughter. She was always someone that he was so very proud in.
She came up and gave him a tight hug before she pulled away and took a breath. This was what made him realize that something was a bit amiss at the moment. What was wrong? ”I meant to write you, tell you I was coming by but... I thought Mum would stick around if I did that... Sort of just wanted to see you.” He watched her shift nervously. But he gave a nod about her mother. ”You're going to have to talk to her about things at some point my dear, she's not exactly the least curious person around and nor am I the best liar,” he told his daughter. It was true, while he could hold things in, Flora had a way of working them out if she had thought something was up. She'd always been good at that. Then Bryony continued to explain. ”See, there's someone I wanted you to meet – my...well he's my...” A rather slight pause came from her. It was as if she couldn't get the right words to come out. ”Nor am I rubbish at being able to tell when my daughter has something held back,” he said raising his eyebrows. ”I wanted you to meet my boyfriend... in person... here. Today. I brought him, or well he brought me, because – he wanted to meet you too.” Was that so? His only child had a boyfriend now. Just what she needed to get stuck into a relationship that she would be very fond of at this age. Dariell had been there and done that and sometimes rather regretted it but family came first. The Hufflepuff alum would always put those around him, those he'd dedicated time to before his own feelings.
”A boyfriend, that so? Well where is?” he asked. His question answered only a short moment later by the boy coming in. ”Hello, I'm Preston Sherwood.” No handshake offered to Dariell and he shook his head. ”Typically when you meet a girl's father you would want to give him a hand shake,” he said with a grin and a chuckle. The surname of Sherwood rung a bell in his mind but it was nothing bad. They were a pureblood family, that was definitely what he knew but even if they were a bad pureblood family he'd have no place to judge, he was married to a Carrow. ”It's nice to meet you Preston,” he said with a more cherishing smile. Dariell wasn't too quick to judge people, he'd grown up in a family that if you would judge them you would be extremely unhappy all the time.
Dariell looked at them both. ”Now you know I am not a stupid man, so I would like to know why the both of you are not in Hogwarts, and should we leave the studio for this, go downstairs, or will we be okay up here?” he asked them. Whatever it was that they were about to tell him, he was sure it was going to be quite interesting, maybe even upsetting. You don't just leave Hogwarts grounds for no reason, or at least most people didn't. It required so much sneaking out and getting about into trouble.

Bron's gaze fell downward for a moment when her dad reminded her that she couldn't keep avoiding talking to her mother, no matter how hard she tried. Yes, this matter was not something she could hide for long, and the longer they waited the worse her mother's wrath would be no doubt. She let out a small sigh. "I know but I needed to talk to you first...." She still held back on the exact nature of why they had come. He father wasn't daft though. She was thankful in some ways that Preston had only given her a few minutes alone and had now joined them though she found herself holding her breath as pleasantries were exchanged between her father and Preston. She almost wanted to laugh when her father said it was nice to meet him, would he be thinking that when they explained the real nature of their visit? When they broke the news that this was the boy who was making his only daughter into a teenage mother? She could feel her stomach twist into a hundred different knots. "Preston is eighteen." She said quickly her eyes snapping back to her father's, "I mean, he doesn't technically need to be in school. I asked him to bring me, as a favor. Because - I couldn't do it myself, since I'm not yet...an adult." Nope that still didn't come out right. She shifted on her feet some more and nervously rubbed her hands together as she found her eyes drifting away from the blue pools of her her father's lingering on the art that scattered the room. How safe she had always felt in this room, but today it was bringing her little comfort. She could feel her eyes starting to burn again and she bit at her lip. "Dad...." She started, the rawness in her voice starting to crack through, a tall-tale sign that she was going to cry "I needed you to meet Preston because...you see...its important because-" Deep breath. She could already feel the weight in her chest, this was far worse than she had been imagining it. She couldn't even look him in the eyes as she tried to break the news to him. She brushed a hand over her eyes again wiping away the pooled tears. She had to do this, no matter how much it hurt. One more deep breath. She did her best to meet her father's gaze again but her eyes dropped in shame as the words slipped quietly from her lips. "Dad....I'm pregnant."words: 428 tag: PRESTON JANDON SHERWOOD DARIELL BRICE MOONBERRYnotes: *dies*

Preston nodded in response, how was he supposed to know what meeting a father entailed. This was the first time he had willing meet a girlfriends parents and it had nothing to do with the her being pregnant. Of course it happened a lot sooner thanks to it. He didn't even know where to begin, he rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly as bryony started to talk. PJ took his free hand and stuffed into his pocket, the familar cool metal of his dagger cementing him to reality. Now wasn't the time to lose control of his emotions, when had he ever been this nervous?
PJ groaned when she explained her age, her eighteen year old boyfriend skipped school with her and brought her here. There were so many roads and scenarios that could bring to the light. Like their trip to Venice, and the many trips to his flat. He resisted the urge to bang his head on the wall, she was terrible at this. He froze when she finally outted it, he didn't know what to say. "A healer already confirmed it, she's almost two months along" Was that a good thing to say at the moment.
His hand instinctively searched out Bryony's not liking the tension in the room. To much stress was bad for the baby and hopefully any anger would be directed at him, and not her. The first time he met a girls father and it was to tell him he got her pregnant. He never did anything the normal way, this was going to blow up in his face spectacularly. All he knew was that she'd have a ring on her finger when it came time to tell her mom. Maybe it would lessen the chance of her stabbing him or poisoning him or whatever.

Dariell nodded when she told him that he needed to talk to her first. They'd always had a close relationship but the forty year old father hated being torn in so many directions. At least their daughter talked to him. He still wondered if Flora did what she could to try and make peace with their teenage daughter. ”Very well, then we should talk about what you want to talk about and then we can tell your mother,” he told her softly.
Dariell was a friendly guy. He never was one to take a thought into his mind and work upon it. Very unlike his wife who took a chance to judge every moment she could. He knew something was wrong with his daughter but guessing it was way beyond him. Then his daughter went to explain that Preston here was eighteen and really didn't have to be at the school. She was here because she asked him to bring her here. Dariell raised his brow. ”Eighteen year old boyfriend, well you must be in your seventh year, held back?” he asked, ”but you're right, you are not an adult, which is why you shouldn't be away from school. And not letting your mother or myself know worries me.” His eyes moved away from looking at his daughter. He walked around his canvas and placed himself in front of it to begin painting again. Maybe this wasn't the best of times to do so but he knew some type of news was coming and like so many arguments with Flora he sat in front of the canvas to paint. To keep himself perfectly fine. He picked up his brush and went to add a bit more perfection to the sky that had already dawned across the bustle of London.
He looked up at his daughter as she spoke to him with the cracks in her voice. ”Dad...I needed you to meet Preston because... you see... it's important because-” Well those words never led to anywhere good. There was very limited possibilities of what would come out of her mouth now that she mentioned why he needed to meet Preston. So little possibilities. And then it rung into his ears. A confirmation of what she was here for. Pregnant, his sixteen year old daughter was pregnant. So many things could be told to her at the moment. He looked back down at his canvas and without muttering a word or waving any wand charmed it and watched it come to life. Watched the people in London move around while shopping. A slight smile came to his face before he snapped back to reality. ”Well you were right by one thing, telling me before your mother,” he said carefully as he stood up. He lifted the picture and found a spot on the wall where he placed it upon a hook and hung the painting.
Maybe getting up wasn't the best idea he felt slightly light headed. His blue eyes looked from Bryony to Preston when Preston had added that she was only two months along and that a healer had already confirmed it. ”What healer? And what are your plans, if you have any at all? What about school?” he asked the questions that came to his mind as quickly as they came. ”Raising a child is an incredibly huge responsibility, are either of your prepared for such a thing? It's not just a matter of having a baby, of getting pregnant,” he told them. Should he have said that he was disappointed? Because he wasn't. Shocked, lightheaded, he wasn't mad, he was surprised by that fact alone. He didn't want to snap Preston's neck in two.
”Sherwood, well your mother will be happy that you're having a pureblood child if nothing more, we need to take you to see a proper healer, not that your healer was not, to St. Mungo's and then we need to devise a plan to figure out how to tell your mother when the time is right,” he told them, ”Bryony you're my daughter, I worry about you, but this is your decision to make, but you have to let me help you through this,” he said. There were options, none of which he liked but he was in a predicament where he had to let his almost adult daughter choose to make a decision that would impact the rest of her life. He moved and pulled over his art chair and took it close to Bryony and Preston for her to sit down in. Then he looked at Preston and raised his brows. ”You best do right this child and my child, I may seem a calm man, I may not be blowing up, but you have not seen wrath until you see mine if you hurt either one of them,” he said seriously. Dariell was a calm man and very rarely did he even yell but he knew that he had his own duty as a father to protect his daughter should she be hurt. But he'd always entrusted her to make proper decisions and he'd always been proud of the ones she had made but this was a different story. After the years that he'd trusted her he couldn't go back on trust now. He couldn't change his mind on trust right now and he was sure that she knew that he couldn't do that either.

She felt Preston's hand slip around her's and she found herself holding to him tight. An anchor in the rough sea that was her emotions. If this hadn't felt real before then it was feeling real now. There was no taking back the information that she spilled, there was no returning to the moments before when she was nothing more than her father's little girl. What was she now even? Her grip tightened on her boyfriend's hand. How she wanted to go back, to take it all back. But life didn't have any do overs, not even a time turner could fix this mess. There were certain moments in every girl's life that she looked forward to, Bryony was no different. What little thought she had given to these milestones she had never imagined being so young, or doing them out of order. But here she was, introducing her boyfriend because of their careless mistake. Her hands drifted to her stomach for a moment, what sort of horrible mother was she going to be if she always considered her child a mistake? Eyes cast downwards she tried to will away the emotions that seemed all too much to bear at the moment. She couldn't look up, the thought of what her father's face must have looked like - the idea of letting him down, of being this child, it was killing her. Maybe it was just in her head, but he was her father and she had tried her hardest to make him proud all the while trying to be the daughter her mother had always wanted. Right now though, she was positive she was doing neither. She could merely nod her head a little as she felt the tears start to slip down her face when her father said she was right to come to him first. Yes, if they had gone to her mother first...well she had a vivid imagination when it came to just what her mother was capable of when things did not go according to plan. While he mother might have had a fondness for Preston because of the true nature of the Sherwood's Bryony doubted this was going to bring him anymore favor. After all a child out of wedlock was not an heir. Her father's questions felt overwhelming even though they were as simple as one could get at a time like this. She'd avoided thinking too much on how they were really going to handle this, she had taken Preston's words and clung to them as if some how the boy truly had all the answers. The boy whom she had only so recently started a true relationship with. The shame she felt was deep, she hadn't been raised to be like this. She wished she could give him some answers, some reassurance - but was there any real reassurance that a father could be given by his sixteen year old daughter especially on a matter such as this? Chewing at her lip she tried to come up with something, anything, but she couldn't find any words. She winced when she heard her father point out how she carried a pureblood child, something her mother could be happy about - though Bryony doubted the pureness of their baby's blood was going to be of any help in defusing what ever storm came from telling her mother. She wanted to comment how she couldn't careless that Preston was a pureblood, to some how point out that she was more her father's child than her mother's but such words were useless and would change nothing. She was just glad her father didn't yet know just what Preston was. She wasn't sure she would ever be able to explain how she had come to love a hunter, as she was still trying to figure that out for herself. When her father came close with his chair she was quick to take a seat and finally about to look up and meet the eyes she was so terrified to find. Her own hazel eyes red from the tears that fell slowly down her face, "I'm sorry, Dad." she whispered with a trembling lip. She wanted to be able to say this was going to be okay, that she was ready for this. But she wasn't. She had been terrified from the start. But fears didn't make the world stop, if anything they just made life seem to pass by faster. Fear wasn't going to stop this from happening, it was just something she was going to have to overcome. words: 761 tag: PRESTON JANDON SHERWOOD DARIELL BRICE MOONBERRYnotes: ..the feels jess, the feels.

PJ was at a loss, at least his life wasn't in immediate danger, he was able to to focus to on things other than the man standing before him. Like how to not sound offended at the threat to do right by both Bryony and the child. Was he that awful that people thought he would abandon them both? He didn't think he wanted to know the answer to that question. It was all a simple matter of the type of man he showed her father he was. It wasn't as if his life wasn't an easy one. Was he ready for this, not just being a father but actually taking in consideration his actions. He wasn't dealing with hunter that were prepared to die fighting for a cause. He had a family to care for, he understood his Uncle's stress but he could handle this, he knew he could. "A private family healer, my family is a bit picky about that kind of stuff. Well I graduate this year, im head of family for the Scavios so I start running the business both sides of family own" No need to tell him it was because he was the only male in his family that met the qualifications set by his ancestors.
"Well the baby should be here by next school year, if not private tutors...I want her to finish school...if that's what she wants. I'm not sure if we're prepared, we only recently found out but im trying my best to be." He was serious about doing right by both of them. He wouldn't treat this as a huge mistake, he wouldn't be that type of parent, he couldn't be. He knew financially he was more than able to provide for his family, he had an heir and he was going to get married. People probably thought he was an over achiever, his deadline had been twenty-five. He panicked when her father mentioned St.mungos, they could not go there...for reason.
"Uhm, its sort of family tradition to use Personal private healers, especially for matters like this." His hand went to run the back of his neck a nervous habits he seem to pick up...again. There was no way he was telling her father he had enemies who would no doubt find out she was pregnant if they went directly to the hospital. He wanted to make sure there were things in place before everyone in the hunter world found out. His family might've been the most powerful and ruthless but there were others that were ruthless and angry. He was screaming at himself for making her a target and thinking of this in front of her father. Might as well admit to being a killer right there and then.
"That's what I plan to do, I protect my family and care for them and both Bryony and the baby are my main priority. You dont have to worry about me hurting them" He die before he let any harm come to them, from hisself included. Preston wished distancing himself from them was an option but he needed to be there, he could think of a game plan later. He heard the apology fall from her lips but one didn't fall from his. The only thing he was sorry for was that it had come before marriage.

Dariell sighed softly. He realized he'd bombarded them each with questions. But maybe it was important for him to know what was going on. He wanted to know if his daughter would be okay in the end. ”A private family healer, my family is a bit picky about that kind of stuff. Well I graduate this year, I'm head of family for the Scavios so I start running the business both sides of family own.” Dariell looked at him and raised his brows. ”An eighteen year old head of a family, that so? Sounds like you've got your hands a bit full,” he told them.
Dariell looked at his daughter carefully. He felt bad that she was in a situation that she wasn't quite prepared for. ”Well the baby should be here by next school year, if not private tutors... I want her to finish school... if that's what she wants. I'm not sure if we're prepared, we only recently found out but I'm trying my best to be. ”Yes, two months that equals out to be about right. If I know if Flora had a say right now she'll be doing school at Hogwarts, but as far as I'm concerned as long as school is finished that's all that matters,” he said with a slight smile. The news still very shocking, but being excited or at least smiling about the situation seemed to make it rather well for him. ”As for preparing, I'll lend a hand anywhere I can, help out when I can,” he told them both. ”May not be the best news I could have gotten, but I'm here for the both of you,” he said softly.
Then Preston told him that it was family tradition to use personal healers, private ones. ”You may not know this but a painter's wage is not a steady wage, since she's still underage I will be happy to take her to St. Mungo's. She is still a Moonberry for the time being, if you do not want to be in the hospital that is fine, but respect my wishes for my daughter to have the care I would like her to have,” he told Preston. While Bryony was still underage she would be given the care that Dariell would provide to her as her father, he did not like the idea of private healers. There were reasons people didn't like hospitals and honestly Dariell understood it.
When Dariell had told Preston exactly what he expected of him as the boy who knocked up his daughter, Preson seemed adamant that was going to be his plans anyways. ”That's what I plan to do, I protect my family and care for them and both Bryony and the baby are my main priority. You don't have to worry about me hurting them.” ”Good, we're on the same page then, or most of it at least,” he said softly. Then he heard the apology. Dariell bent down and looked at her with a shake of his head. ”You cannot be sorry, do not apologize,” he told her. Maybe he was a true Moonberry after all, maybe he wasn't upset about this because he was actually slightly excited. ”This doesn't change anything, but we do need to figure some things out, but I would like to stay involved if possible,” he told her, ”trust me when I say that I'm still very proud of you, I may not be excited but I'm still proud of everything you've done in your life. I don't ever want to hear you apologize, because that means you think what's inside you is a mistake, don't apologize to me, and don't apologize to your mother, to yourself, to anyone, do right to yourself, that's all I care about. Besides if I'm going to be a grandfather that means I get to paint a children's room like I did for you, if you'd let me.” Maybe he was excited about it all.

She listened as her father and boyfriend talked over the topics that had arisen. Just what would her father think if he knew exactly the sort of family Preston was head of. She still recalled the glee her mother had about the prospect of Bryony involving herself with Preston, the wealth, the power, everything she could have hoped for and more. Except this wasn't exactly the way that her mother had hoped for it to go, even Bryony knew that. Her mother had always urged her to find a way to keep a boy like Preston interested, but she was never to do what she did. Unwed mothers didn't make for good wives. Lecture after lecture was ringing in her ears int he tone of her mother's voice. This was not going to go well, if she was almost sure of anything it was that. The talk of school sent her mind spinning. Preston had mentioned it before how they would get married, she would finish school, and then they would raise their child. But that meant spending the better part of a year away from the child who she was going to have never been apart from. Could she handle that? In some ways the idea was more appealing then it should have been, being able to ignore the responsibilities of parenthood for just a little while longer. Such a selfish thought. But how much would she miss? Could she live with being that mother who was distant and absent? Could Preston handle fatherhood alone, or would their child be that one that seemed to think the nanny was mum? She didn't even want to think about what would take place when Preston too his little trips, or even worse what would happen were he to never come back from one. There was still so much they had to sort of with themselves, things she couldn't even seek advice about. Secret after secret. It was the life she was going to have to get used to she guessed. When talk of healers was brought up Bryony's gaze fluttered up for a moment looking to Preston. Her look begged for him to no argue, she knew how he could be. Adamant about everything - he was worse than her. She needed this to go smoothly though, she needed her dad to like - no, accept - Preston, liking might have been asking too much. She knew enough to guess why the hospital was out of the question in Preston's mind - she just had to go for the troublesome boy instead of the safe bet, didn't she? How was she ever going to explain herself? As her father bent down to explain why she mustn't be sorry about this Bryony found it even harder not to cry anymore than she already was. She knew it was terrible to think of her child as a mistake, but it sure wasn't something she had been planning or even hoping for. She reached her arms around her father and pulled her self closer to him. She wasn't sure how her father could say he was still proud of her or even how he could say this didn't change anything as all she could focus on was how it seemed to be changing everything. But his words brought a slight peace of mind to her, her father didn't hate her for being a foolish girl who made a hasty and terribly thought out choice. "I love you, Dad. I don't think I could do this with out you." She was still trying to get a hold on her emotions, she'd never cried this much in her life. Still her words had been soft, though still a bit cracked from her raw throat. Of course she wanted to keep her father involved in this mess he had always been the parent who she felt truly looked out for her but deep down she knew it was Preston who she could not do this with out. Sighing she pulled away from her father and wiped her eyes, she needed to get a hold of herself. "Dad..." She started softly, she didn't really want to go against him. He was the man who had always been there in her life, the one who kept her safe and loved her even when she messed up. He'd always wanted what was best for her - what would make her happy. "Preston and I, we've talk about the healer situation before...his family - they have some very talented healers in their employ. We could find one we're all happy with." Bryony knew she was embellishing the truth of the exchange she had with Preston about healers, seeing as it was more Preston having told her that she would be seeing a personal healer as to being a conversation. "He just wants the best for us Dad, for me and our baby...." It sounded better when it seemed like the reasons for the healer was wanting to provide the best care, not for all the other reasons that went along with it. She hoped her father wouldn't take her words as a way of trying to push him out as that was the last thing she wanted to do, but Preston could be unpredictable and she wasn't sure what lengths he would go to make sure she didn't step foot into the hospital whether her father liked it or not. words: 904 tag: PRESTON JANDON SHERWOOD DARIELL BRICE MOONBERRYnotes: *rolls in feels*

Preston was at a stand still, he knew bryony wanted this to go smoothly. He needed to let go of his stubborness and controlling nature, it wasn't intentional he was just used to being the responsible one. He had to make hasty decisions and tough choices, he was used to this kind of pressure but it was different. This had become harder to think through, he wanted to fight out his frustration but it wouldn't do any good. This was the price of leaving the hunter circle, for falling for normal instead of different. Had she been a hunter there would be no awkwardness unplanned pregnancy and all. "I managed quite well, im able to work from my apartment and also go to school" No need to mention he skipped most of his classes.
He nodded, not used to authority figures telling him what to do, the whole im in charge edge to her fathers voice made Dark PJ twitch on his shoulder. Even the little angle on his right shoulder was wary. He had to remind himself he was doing this for Her, he could care less what her father thought. Both sides of him were agreement, the girl who was currently carrying his child was more important to him than he cared to admit. At least he didn't have to give up the leather jacket, he wouldn't not even for her...he didn't care to test the validity of the statement. "Thank you" The words tasted foul in his mouth but he knew the meeting could've went way worse. This was a month of first and be was losing his mind, jt was too much change to soon. He knew a relapse would cause him to lose everything but he just needed to feel something break in his hands or beaneath his fist.
The only thing that steeled him was a glance from Bryony. Both hands returned to his jacket and his hand clenched around the handle of his dagger. Be calm, she needs you to be reasonable. He could feel the chill in the air, the nervousness melted away at the word respect. PJ was taught that respect was earned not given and the man before him was obviously not respecting his wishes as the father of the child. Somewhere under the coldness that broke free as his stance changed to that of a hunter, he understood Dariell's reasons...he did. "Im aware of what a painters wage is, I have a cousin who's a painter. While I respect your wishes...really I do." He was saved from answering as Bryony spoke up, yes her explanation was way better. Dark PJ slinked back Into the corner as his more tactical side made game plans for the upcoming arguement. He was sure stubborness was a trait she got from her father.
Same page? Not even close but PJ nodded stiffly regardless, if he didn't talk that would count as getting along right? He felt like he was intruding on a private moment, even though his parents rejected their hunter roots, they were raised in a cold household. Affection wasn't prominent and there was a slight military edge to his father's personality. Though PJ at once was a goofball and very affectionate towards his sister...his family wasn't as close as Bryony's. PJ saw it as a weakness...one he wasn't jealous of....really he wasnt.
They wouldn't get along, he didn't need to the painter to hell he wasn't good enough for the girl in the chair....he already knew. He didn't need somebody to make sure he tool care of his child...he would. He definitely didn't need someone thinking they had say in the way this would work out. It was ultimately him and Bryony's decision and PJ wouls go to extreme to make that statement true.
