albus sighed as he leaned his hand down on the bench in the dreaded shop that was spintwitches. he loved playing quidditch, he loved it he really did. he just hated the part when he needed to get new gear and had to ask his parent for the money to pay for it. he didn't like being dependent on anyone, but right now he had no choice. between his school, quidditch, the tournament and trying to start running the DA he had no time at the moment to even think about looking for a job. which is why he'd sent his mother an owl asking if she'd be able to meet him at the shop. he'd snapped the front handle off his broom off a few days before, having taken a fall after trying to grab the quaffle the wrong way. he'd made the mistake of not letting the broom go, tumbling down to the ground with it. he'd been more upset about his broom breaking that the fact he'd broken his thumb. but a quick trip to the hospital wing had fixed that and less than half an hour after the fall he'd been back practising on his own again. he figured the extra practices couldn't hurt, he often found he relaxed while flying. "stupid broom, should make them harder to break" he mumbled as he sighed. but here he was, broken broom on the bench, waiting for his mother and trying to read the label of some fancy new contraption for a sport he'd never heard of. he sighed a little as he squinted a little closer to the label, his mind trying to work out the write order to put the letters. he was too busy concentrating on that to hear the door open behind him.

Ginny was always happy to have an oppertunity to spend time with her children. She loved each of them, of course, but she knew that they all had issues with the others: sonething that upset her more than she would ever allow herself to show. So, as much as she loved having the family all together, she knew it was best to spend time one on one with the children. So she happily accepted her middle childs request for her to meet him out and made her way to the shop he had said to meet at. A Quidditch shop. Hmm. Ginny instantly knew what this was about. "Hi my Darling." She smiled and kissed her son once on the head, then again on each cheek. "It's lovely to see you!" She insisted. Then she saw the broom. "Oh no. What happened?" She asked.

hearing his mother's voice behind him albus turned toward the sound and let a smile cross onto his face. he didn't like to admit that he still missed seeing his parents as much as he had when he'd been younger. he stayed at the school for a lot of the small breaks they had now he was a seventh year but he went home on the real important events like christmas and his birthday and of course since the school closed for them, the summer holidays. "hi mom, thanks for coming" he said and let her kiss his head. she was his mother, of course she was allowed to kiss him. he wasn't' going to shy away from her affections like he would most people. he couldn't stand the thought of upsetting her like that. "it's good to see you too, how're things at home? and with dad?" he asked, his hand leaning on the counter next to his broom as his mother's attention was brought onto that. "ah well .. i crashed it. sort of." he said, rubbing his hand over the back of his neck. "i was training alone and not really concentraiting .. so" he said with a small grin and a glance down at the broom again.

Ginny was glad that Albus let her kiss and embrace him and didn't try to shy away or act embarrass by the whole situation. She had heard from her friends that once children grew to a certain age, they never liked when their mothers showed them affection anymore. She didn't want either of her boys to get like that, though she wasn't s sure of James. "Everything at home is good; the same as always of course. And dad's good too. He's been spending a lot of time at work lately, as I to be expected." Ginny said with a small nod. Ginny listened with sympathy when Albus told her the story of his poor broom. She knew all too well how easy it was to lose concentration on the pitch and once you did so, you had to suffer the consequences. "So... in other words... you find yourself in need of a new broom? Ahhh. so that explains why you wanted to see your old mum today." She teased him and messed up his hair a little. "Well, I don't think your father would mind to much if I helped you out a little, but of course, there will be a condition..." Ginny said in typical mother style.

"i never expect things to change there." albus rolled his eyes a little and shook his head. it wasn't a surprise that his father had been working a lot. he always had done. "so some things do never change, i think lily would shoot me if i didn't tell you that she was all right" he said with a smile as he leaned his hands on the bench and shrugged his shoulders. he wasn't going to ask about james. not yet. there was still a lot of tension between the two of them and he didn't feel like dredging up feelings about it and having to act like nothing was wrong to his mother. he didn't want her to know they were fighting. it wasn't fair on her. "well doesn't have to be a new broom, just one that will let me fly from here to there" he said with a grin and a slight shrug of his shoulders. it was true, all he needed was the broom and he could do the rest. "don't i always need a reason to call you out here?" he said, joking of course. he knew that he'd be able to call his mother on any occasion, and most of the time she'd be there for him. he watched and raised his eyebrow. "a condition? what condition would that be?" he asked, curious and a little worried if he was being honest.

Ginny had to agree with her son. She never expected her husband to stop working the long hours that he worked. She knew that he loved his job. He got to be the hero. He had always been the hero. Since before he could even walk. And, he was always her hero. She never wanted that to change. She knew that it never would. "Well, you know your father. Once he gets started on something, he sees it through." She added. Harry had always been that way, and she saw so much of her husband in her youngest son. She also liked to think of her daughter, Lily as a miniature version of herself, though she knew that they weren't exactly the same: she couldn't help thinking it. It was a mother thing. "I'm glad to hear that Lil's doing well. Though, I wouldn't really expect anything different." Lily had grown up with two older brothers and a million cousins. She knew how to handle herself. Ginny shrugged when he said that he didn't need a brand new broom, it was a typical Albus response. "It's been a while since we got you a new broom. So we can take a look and you can decide which one you like; new or not." She told him. Ginny knew that her son would chose to talk to her and see her even when he didn't want something from her, that was just the way that she raised her children, but she knew that her little condition to a new broom would probably make him a little less happy with his decision. "I want you to tell me what's going on between you and your brother." She said. Ginny knew that they weren't on good terms, and that killed her as a mother. But she wanted to know what happened to make them so.

"yeah i don't think anyone would cross her any time soon .. one she'd clobber them and two, half the school would be after them" he said with a light grin, okay so their family wasn't that big but it wasn't like it was small either. there was plenty of people for things to get back too and word travelled fast through the halls of hogwarts. he nodded as his mother mentioned the broom, it had been a while but he'd liked his old broom. didn't really want to replace it with anything else but it was either that of fly on the school brooms for the rest of the season. and that wouldn't be a good thing. "okay we'll look around .. and see if we can get this one fixed too?" he asked, his fingers touching the brush of his old broom.
it had gotten him through some pretty tough games and as weird as it sounded, he trusted it. like you would an old car that had never let you down. he heard what she wanted from him and couldn't hide the frown that came upon his face. well there went trying to keep the bad feelings at bay for his mothers sake. he didn't know how to explain it. he didn't have a problem with james. james seemed to have the problem with him. or that's how it felt anyway. "james is the one with the problem." shaking his head he walked over to a rack with brooms on it. "ask him why he dislikes me solely on the fact that i'm in the wrong house, and you'll have the answer" shrugging his shoulders a little he looked over the brooms, crouching down to read the tag hanging off one of them.

Ginny walked around with her son while he looked at brooms. It had been so long since she had gotten herself a new broom. During her time as a professional player, she had only broken her broom one time, and she had replaced it instantly. She was so proud of James when he said that he was going to join a professional team. Keep the game in the family. Harry played. Ginny played. James played. Albus played. Ginny knew that Lily wasn't much of a player, but she liked the sport at least, and that was enough for her. "Well, you still need to keep an eye on her in school. Keep the boys away." Ginny insisted with a smirk. Lily would always be to young for boys in her eyes.
When Albus said that James didn't like him because Albus was a Slytherin, Ginny sighed. That was what she was afraid of. That was something that she had always been afraid of. "You know that being a Slytherin isn't a bad thing, right?" She asked her son. She was sure that he did know and he would probably get annoyed with her asking, but she wanted to be sure. "Being put in Slytherin house doesn't mean that you're a bad guy or anything like it. You've heard what your dad has to say about Slytherins. And so has James." She couldn't explain how much this hurt her, but she decided not to let it show.

"well you might want to have a word with her about that, cause she's got herself a grey back for a boyfriend i think" he said as he glanced at the tag one one of the brooms that had caught his eye. "i don't like the little weasel, something about him just doesn't sit right" he said, but that could be just him not being happy that his little sister was spending too much time around a boy. she was his little sister, he wasn't supposed to like her hanging around with boys. it went against the laws of nature. "how about this one?" he asked, standing up and keeping the tag in his hand, looking toward his mother.
"i think being in the house i am is great, it means i'm not like james. or dad, which is a good thing." he shook his head a little and went back to looking at the broom. he hated living in his family's shadow. it grew old fast when he was called harry's son, or james' brother or when he was told he should be more like them. "james thinks i'm cold and uncaring and selfish, so i'm going to let him think that. he won't listen to anything i tell him so i've given up. you might as well know" he said, sighing and running his hand through his hair. after the last few years he didn't think he was going to try and get close to james again. it would be nice, but the prejudice he thought he saw in his brother was going to be hard for him to get past. "i heard what dad had to say about certain slytherins, he might not dislike me being in the house, but i've heard him talk about what it was like between the two houses when you guys were there" he said, shaking his head a little and wishing they were talking about something, anything else right now.

Ginny couldn't express how surprised she was to hear her son say those words. A boyfriend? A Greyback? She knew that name: That was the name of a werewolf family, wasn't it? Was her little Lilly dating a werewolf? Ginny didn't dislike werewolves personally; one of the bravest men she ever knew was a werewolf and he had been careful every full moon to not hurt anyone. She always respected Remus Lupin, and after having a hand in raising Teddy and dealing with the fact that he was a werewolf too, Ginny was used to them and how they had to live, but she wasn't sure how she felt about her daughter having a boyfriend at all. "You have good instincts, Al. If you don't like this boy, you should sit down with your sister and talk to her." Ginny wanted to talk with Lilly straight away, but she didn't want her to know that her brother ratted her out. She remembered how much she hated when her brothers told their mother on her. "That's a nice one." Ginny nodded when Albus asked her about a broom. "How does it feel to hold? If the handle is smooth then it'll be easier to ride and get a good grip on if you slip." She explained based on her many years of experience with both professional and private play. When Albus told her that he heard what Harry had said about the relationship with the Gryffindors and Slytherins from back when thy were in school, Ginny sighed. "That was a different time, and the rivalry was mostly based on assumptions and assumption of clueless children. I know you're not clueless, Al. And if the reason that my two lovely sons can't get along is because of the rivalry between Gryffindor and Slytherin, then I have to say, I'm a little disappointed in James." To be honest, Ginny didn't know who was to blame. She only knew Albus's story. But Albus had come to her and had talked with her, she had barely seen James since the Holidays.
