(Prologue) Merville thought it was going to be a morning like all the others after the night of the full moon. He had gotten so used to those mornings that he really had taken them for granted. He would go out to the cage in the barn, unlock it, greet his wife Lotus with a hug and a kiss, and they would go back to the house and have breakfast as if she hadn't even changed the night before. True, he didn't take his wife for granted. More just the happenings of the morning, doubting they would ever change as the two grew older. That morning he whistled as he walked down to the barn. He stopped briefly to look at a faucet that was dripping. He gave it a good turn and then smiled when it stopped. The most simple things in life pleased the man. He then moved on down toward the barn. There he saw Buttercup standing by the door and whimpering. He chuckled at the dog and pat him on the head. "Impatient this morning, aren't we?" he said gently. "Or perhaps just hungry I think. Well never fear, friend Buttercup, I'm going in now and we shall all have our breakfast soon." The petting and kind words from his master seemed to do little to keep Buttercup from whimpering. Merville found this a tad odd, but didn't put too much thought into it. He opened the barn door and already began to address his wife. "Good morning, my dear," he said. "I hope last night wasn't too terribly uncomfortable for you." He always said this when he first greeted her. He doubted werewolves care for comfort, but he said it nonetheless. "I picked some gooseberries this morning. I thought we could perhaps bake some muffins and take them over to the Blenkinsops." He then realized he heard no sound whatsoever coming from the cage. "Lotus... are you alright?"
He stepped closer and within next few seconds, his life crashed down around him. He saw her lying there, still and covered with blood. "Lotus..." he whispered, his lips trembling. His hands also trembled as he unlocked the door. He then moved in and turned her over, looking into dead eyes. He shook harder, tears forming from his eyes. His face was filled with disbelief, but there she was. "Lotus... Lotus... LOTUS!"What came out of his mouth next was both the cry and scream of a man who suffered far more than any who had ever been hit with the Cruciatus Curse. It was a wail that could be heard for who knew how far away. And it continued as he held the body of his wife... until he could scream no more. Moments later, Merville stumbled out of the barn, holding his wife and looking as if any moment he was going to accidentally drop her. He finally dropped his knees and just looked down at her, stroking her hair. He then looked out into the distance, vainly wondering if he could perhaps see the one responsible for this. He looked for a monster in the form of a human being. Only a monster could have robbed such a sweet woman of her existence. But there was no one... no one. Soon, he simply sat there, sat by his wife... looking at her... silent. There was just her and him... nothing more. MOD BONZI

(Some Time Later...) (Going to safely assume Bryony would be with Silvia on the walk to Hogsmeade.) Silvia's father had sent Silvia and Bryony owls to meet him in Hogsmeade. He didn't say why, which was extremely odd. Usually when Merville Moonberry sent an owl for a planned day in Hogsmeade, there was a list of potential things they could do together while he and her mum were there. And that was another thing. Her mother wasn't with him. She was always with him. They always visited together. That's how close the family was. But there Merville sat, alone on a bench. And his face looked grim. He never looked anything but gleeful and excited. It didn't take the mind of a Ravenclaw to tell Silvia something was very wrong. Slowly she walked toward him. "Hello dad," she said softly. "Where's mum?"Merville opened his mouth to tell her...something, but as tears filled his eyes, all he could say was, "My dear... oh my dear, sweet girl..." He then reached out to embrace her, sobbing. "Something has happened to mum, hasn't it?" asked Silvia, and the look on her face showed she knew what had happened... well at least that her mum had passed on. "Yes, my cherub," said Merville. "Your mother was... she's gone..." Merville sobbed again. In his arms, tears began to form in Silvia's eyes as she quietly closed them. BRYONY CATE MOONBERRY
