(Note: This takes place between Merville discovering his wife had been killed and going to Hogsmeade to tell Silvia the news.) A day had passed since Merville had found Lotus. The neighbors had taken Lotus' body and were going to prepare it for her funeral. They were all going to chip in to pay all the funeral costs. Merville wanted to thank them all dearly for that, but he had said nothing since his cries for his wife the day before. He simply sat on a bench outside his home, the family dog Buttercup loyally laying beside him. He had not eaten, and had only drank water. He had fed Buttercup of course, but not a morsel for himself. He looked out at the distance where he and his wife used to pick mushrooms while they talked and laughed, and occasionally danced. His eyes were so puffy, having cried every tear they could. He seemed not all there, and that made perfect sense. His mind was with Lotus. @jacob DARIELL BRICE MOONBERRY MATTHEW ERI BLENKINSOP JESSA MAE JERGANS(To those who don't know, the Blenkinsops and Moonberrys are neighbors)

Dariell had heard the news of his brother's wife being killed. He didn't honestly know much of the details about what had happened to her. So instead of trying to find out what had happened, the artist decided to go check in on his older brother. The younger brother had apparated from his home to the front of his brother's property and looked for his brother.
He found his brother sitting on a bench staring out into the distance and he looked down. He made his way over and sat down next to Merville. ”There's not much I can say, but I'm sorry,” he told his older brother. He'd never gone through such a loss. He wouldn't know what to do if it'd been Flora, even if she wasn't the perfect wife that he'd once dreamed of having. The wife he'd thought she could have been. He gently put his hand on his brother's shoulder and stared out with him.

Merville didn't look at or speak to his brother right away. It was nothing against Dariell of course. Again, Merville mind had drifted away. Finally, he registered what his brother said. In his heart he appreciated the condolences, but he didn't want to talk about it aloud, at least not at first. Instead, he pointed out toward the mushroom field. "They'll be full grown soon... the mushrooms," he said softly, his voice shaking a tad though it seemed like he was trying to calm it. "Those particular mushrooms always do well in summer. You must come with Bryony and help Silvia and I pick some."
It then struck him, not including his wife in his statement. That brought reality back to him and he looked down for a moment. "Why her, brother, why her?" he said. "She was so kind, never a harsh word or cruel action to another. Why would someone... take her?" He couldn't say the word kill. It was still so difficult to believe his wife was murdered.
