HISTORY: John Wyatt Sloper was born on March 31st. He was a ball of sunshine, always smiling and laughing. Sure, he cried. He cried quite a bit as a baby, but was almost always smiling. He was only ten months old, and barely crawling himself, when his younger sister was born. Having learned to speak first, walk first, use the bathroom first, he always found it important to try to help her through it. He always nagged his parents for the chance to carry her, always insisting that he was a 'big boy' and perfectly capable of it. That wasn't to say that he didn't love the twins – born when he was nearing the age of two. He loved them, but not nearly as much as ---. The two of them were always causing trouble, and he was always there to hold her hand after coming back from a full moon.
Very much like all the other kids growing up, Wyatt loved to hear stories of his parent's time in Hogwarts. While marveling at the fact that his father literally fought alongside Harry Potter, he was always more comfortable listening to his mom and her stories of hiding the younger students from all the fighting. It was once said that children got along, better, with their parent of the opposite sex. That much was true about Demelza and Wyatt. He was never much of a fighter, and disliked the stories that had a lot of it. He was very analytical as a child, figuring out why “Daddy” was leaving all the time. He never minded much, especially when his father came home with new scratches or bruises. He always made sure to hoard his sisters all in a line after him to deliver a hug. Later, when his sister developed the same condition, he provided the same treatment. It drove a wedge between them and their younger siblings, but he tried to help her as much as possible.
While the gene had skipped over him entirely, John often stayed up late the nights of full moon during his breaks in order to be able to wait until his father and his sister returned home. Afterward, he would tuck his sister in and make sure she was feeling alright before falling asleep next to her. He'd camp out in her room to make sure she had no nightmares and would wake up to tend to her if she did. He continued to do so until she asked for him to stop. He had always wished that the gene had struck him instead of her – he had showed the signs. He loved his stakes medium rare, he was a little angsty during the full moons, though he was never sure if that was because of his family or because of his symptoms. When his sister first transformed, he hadn't been at home. He was, very happily, away at Hogwarts feeling at home with his new Gryffindor friends. He had been eating breakfast with his new friends when the letter from his family came in. He excused himself immediately and owled his mother.
In Hogwarts, Wy was very much the same person there as he was at home. He wasn't quiet...but he was analytical and he did pay attention to everything that went on around him. He was studious, but it wasn't the only thing he was interested in. He joined clubs and made sure no one messed with his siblings. (Because, with having two siblings in Gryffindor and the twins in Slytherin, there was a lot of conflict.) He always played the mediator and was calm and collected. That being said, he had his moments. He didn't particularly like to fight – he hated it, actually. He was protective by nature, not a fighter – but he did remember getting into one his fourth year when an older boy started badmouthing his sister. Much of it was a blur, but he did remember tackling the bloke to the ground and beating the crap out of him with surprising speed.
