"Welcome. Please take a seat. Make yourself comfortable."
“Thanks.” Lyanna accepted his offer with a warm smile. “Oh and it’s nice to meet you.” She crossed her legs and relaxed into the chair, a deep sigh of gratitude. “This is so nice. You have no idea. I’ve been stuck sitting in the library chairs all morning.”
"It’s a pleasure to meet you Lyanna. Why don’t you tell me a little about yourself? You must do a lot of studying. Do you visit the library often? What are your likes and dislikes? Hobbies?"
“Oh yes well I’m a Ravenclaw, so I guess that comes as no surprise.” She waved her hand in a gesture of laid back confidence. “I like to study so I visit the library, a lot. My favorite subject is probably Arithmancy or History of Magic, but only because my brother Marvin teaches that class.” She paused and leaned toward the interviewer, grinning. “But don’t tell him I said that. My family is extremely important to me, especially my brothers. I have five of them and they’re the biggest pain in the arse…” A small chuckle. “But I love them to death. What else? I like reading and being outdoors, anything active. For dislikes, I hate when people crack their knuckles. That’s a big pet peeve of mine. Chewing with your mouth open is pretty disgusting, unless maybe you’re doing it as a joke or something. I’d say just about anything my brother Chaunce does gets on my nerves.” She laughed heartily, throwing her head back. “I’m totally kidding. I don’t have a lot of dislikes, I guess. Don’t bother me when I’m trying to study. That’s about it!”
Great, thank you Lyanna. Let’s continue. Why don’t you tell me about your life outside of school. Do you have many friends? Would you consider yourself a part of the “in” crowd? Or are you maybe more of an outcast?
“I’d say I’m somewhere more in the middle. I have a lot of friends and I always try to make time for them. I’m very open, and generally accepting of people, but sometimes I don’t have the best judgment. I’ve made friends with some not so nice people in the past, but I can always rely on my brothers to bail me out of it. Family comes first, that’s for sure. As for the in crowd, I don’t really care to be a part of it.”
Very well. Moving on. You seem to be rather attached to your brothers Lyanna. Why don’t you tell me a little more about them? What was your upbringing like?
“Like I said, I have five brothers; they’re all older except Colton. He’s the youngest but he still seems to think he’s responsible for me. I grew up under their protection, as much a nuisance as they were.” She grinned mischievously. “Our parents were not very strict so we managed to get into a lot of trouble. Marvin is the oldest, and he’s still a big goofball. I can count on him for almost anything, especially now that he’s teaching at Hogwarts.” Lyanna counted the Llyod siblings off on her fingers. “Let’s see, Daniel is the second oldest, he’s got a job in Hogsmeade so we see each other pretty often. Lanchester and Chaunce get into the most trouble. Chaunce especially, he likes to push my buttons. Last is Colton. He and I have grown a lot closer since our parent's split."
Concerning the topic of her parents, Lyanna tried to stick to the positives. She usually avoided talking about the divorce, even with her brothers, and especially with strangers. "My mom, Gillian, is a muggleborn witch. She works at the Ministry of Magic while my dad, Patrick, is a Muggle doctor. I suppose I take after my mom, considering we share the same interest in careers, but my dad and I have similar personalities." She hesitated. They split up a couple of years ago. Colton and I live with our mom, while Chaunce decided to go stay with dad." She tightened her mouth into a grimace, hoping her lack of enthusiasm would force the interviewer to move on to the next subject. Lyanna dealt with her parents divorce the same way she did most hardships; she pushed it to the back of her mind only seeking comfort (likely from her brothers) if she absolutely needed it.
"I'm sorry to hear about your parent's. That must have been difficult. You mentioned a career in the Ministry? What department are you interested in? And lastly, where do you see yourself in five years?"
Lyanna sighed in relief, both grateful to avoid further discussion of her parents and ready to be finished with the interview. "Yes, thank you. I'm actually interested in becoming an Unspeakable. In the Department of Mysteries?" As if the interviewer's knowledge of the Department was in question. "So in five years I'll probably be working my arse off toward an awesome career. Maybe all this studying will have actually paid off then, huh?"
"The Department of Mysteries. Yes, a very interesting career choice. You seem like an ambitious young lady. It was a pleasure getting to know you Ms. Llyod."
Lyanna blushed. "Thank you. It was nice chatting with you." She shook hands, her grip eager. As they finished their goodbyes she began a beeline for the door, book bag in tow. "Have a great day!."
