HISTORY:
The birth of Aoife D'eath was a surprise to her parents, Sophie and Lorcan. Lorcan was a vampire singer who reached the top of the charts year after year. He and his vampire wife, Sophie, gave birth to their first children, twin boys, two years prior to the birth of Aoife. Preceding them was another boy, followed by another. And then came Aoife. Honestly, Sophie did not believe herself to be pregnant with two children and because she did not have any type of ultrasound (since few doctors actually care for vampires giving birth) she and Lorcan were surprised when after their supposed last boy they gave brith to a girl. Aoife was, and has been since, the baby of the family and the sole daughter to Lorcan and Sophie.
The D'eath children were raised in a large manor in the middle of a wide field surrounded by nothing but grass and a forest on the west end of the house where they tended to hunt for food. While Lorcan was, himself, a half-vampire, Sophie was a full vampire which left all of their children to be 3/4 vampire blood. For the most part they all had vampire tendencies, but being 3/4 vampire meant they had a little better control over their appetites than their mother who, for reputation's sake, was rarely let into muggle or wizarding neighborhoods. Sophie was a good mother and person, though, but she had little control over her thirst due to the way her own parents raised her. Still, Lorcan was not about to chance his soaring singing career to be ruined by an 'incident.' It was for this reason that the D'eath family lived near no one and when the time came for the childrens' Hogwarts letters, it was Lorcan who took them to Diagon Alley to fetch their new school supplies instead of their mother. When Aoife's eldest brothers went to Diagon Alley with Lorcan and she was left behind, it hurt her deeply. She had a good relationship with her mother, sure, but it was her father and older brothers who she trusted with everything. For them to purposely leave her behind made her distance herself a bit from them, even if they, of course, did not intend to do such a thing.
Aoife remained at home for two years after her brothers' departure for school until it was, at last, her turn. She and her twin brother were sure that they would both be sorted into Slytherin as their siblings had; however, it was only to her that this occurred. Instead, her twin was sorted into Ravenclaw. The day that they were sorted into separate houses made Aoife feel a horrific pang of sadness inside; she did not want her brother separated from the rest of their siblings. It meant that he would feel all alone while they were together in the Slytherin common room. Aoife even spoke up for her brother after the sorting ceremony, going to the Headmistress herself to ask if the hat could reconsider. Of course this was not allowed and Aoife had to face the fact that she would be apart from her twin. She fell into a swift anger and took it out on herself, knowing if she took it out on anyone else, she'd be quickly expelled. It is from this incident that she now has a deep scar on her upper thigh.
Slytherin house suited Aoife just fine, it seemed. She fit in well there, but liked to be by herself. Her older brothers were too busy getting into social activities for her to bug them, and her other brother seemed to be quiet like herself so they rarely made friends together. Aoife found that it was best to try and blend in and not draw attention to herself; it didn't exactly work, though. Their father was famous and most kids knew about it, which meant not only did they get attention from the fact that their family was famous, but also because of the fact that they were all vampires. Aoife liked to keep to herself as much as possible because of it. She didn't like crowds or popularity, and she certainly didn't like the idea that someone could easily point her out. She began to wear her the hoods of her robes up over her eyes and stay in her bunk in the girls' dormitory as much as possible. It really wasn't fair that she had to pretend she didn't exist, but it was better that way, really.
At least, that's what she convinced herself for the past five years at school.
