LIKES:
¤ Ferrets: For some strange reason that Sable has never really figured out she can communicate with ferrets. It was a shock to her and she's only recently discovered it while visiting a muggle pet store. Two crazy ferrets actually convinced her to adopt them by being adorable and basically being the cutest little things ever, she ended up buying them and taking the pair home.
¤ Cooking: very much like brewing potions only it produces eatable solid foods.... most of the time
¤Potions: Not only the class but the brews themselves. She's always been top of her class in Potions and had decided to make a career out of it.
¤Gardening: It used to be a way for Sable to get her hands on some trickier plants for potions but now its become a life long hobby that Sable founds rather calming.
¤ Sweets: She has a particular addiction to the muggle candy called Starbursts and almost always has some with her but she adores any candy.
¤ Flowers: though having little to no use they're pretty and brighten up a room
¤ Dirt and Grit: Though Sable looks rather soft and fragile she absolutely loves getting dirty and working hard with her own two hands. It's not unusual for her to be sporting a nice stripe of mud down her cheek or a splotch on her nose if she's just come from outside.
¤ Teaching: Obviously since its her profession
¤ Sunny Days: They're warm and lazy and almost everyone is happy when the sun is out.
DISLIKES:
¤ Dancing: She's never been able to dance as well as her mother (adopted or real) and she's always felt really awkward dancing and often jokes she has three left feet not just two.
¤ People who hate 'rodents': She personally has two very sly ferrets that are often seen running about in her Potions Classroom right before class and often are put away in a cage in the corner during. Those who call them rodents annoy Sable and she'll often snap at them.
¤ Rain: It traps her inside and makes her sleepy to where she doesn't want to work or hold class (regardless to the fact she has no choice)
¤ Storms: Sable has always been terrified of storms though she tries to hide the fact whenever anyone else is near.
¤ Salty Food: Too much salt cause Sable to want to spit it out, she likes spices just not a lot of salt. It's suppose to help the taste not be the taste.
BIGGEST FEAR:
Currently that her students will bully her out of a job or she'll fail as a Professor.
PERSONALITY: Please LIST at least 5 traits.
¤ Shy: Sable is very shy and fragile looking. Some have commented she looks and acts like a porcelain doll, many mistake this shyness for weakness and they wouldn't be completely wrong. However She likes to think she can take care of herself (even if its not always true).
¤ Excitable: It doesn't take much to get Sable excited. Whether she's gotten her hands on a new potion recipe, a new book, or a rare ingredient/seed her reaction is visible. Her eyes will sparkle, she'll talk a mile a minute, and often she'll show rather 'wild' shows of affection or at least wild for her.
¤ Endearing and Open: Sable has a sort of endearing quality when she talks. She'll often smile sweetly or blush a brilliant red when embarrassed. She's very much an open book and most people can read her every thought or intent.
¤ Creative: And someday it might kill her. She loves to invent new things, substitute one item for another, and test her theories often brewing potions that will explode or let off a toxin gas that shouldn't be inhaled by any living thing
¤ Secretive: She is the last person to lend out her books or reveal a secret she has. She's fearful people will claim her findings as their own and therefore hardly ever shares them outside of those she is required to share with. She even keeps the fact that she can talk to ferrets a secret simply because some people might find it "odd" or "freaky".

HISTORY:
Robert and Christina were just kids themselves growing up amongst the Second Wizarding War they were barely older than Harry Potter himself and had actually attended the school with him shortly before everything went wrong. The two young lovers were married but soon fled into hiding once the war really started back up causing Christina's family to go into an uproar. No daughter of THEIRS would be with a muggle-born when the Dark Lord specifically told them not to. However the Jones could not find their daughter nor the muggle filth she ran away with which vexed them even more.
Meanwhile the young couple were very much so in love, they weren't careful though and soon Christina was pregnant with a little girl, though she didn't know that at the time. They were both worried and angry because how could they raise a child in the middle of a war? Better yet how could Christina even manage to be pregnant and on the run? Would they lose the baby? Would they be caught because of the child? And what kind of future would the little one have? There were just too many uncertainties for their taste. Robert decided it was HE who had to be on the run, not Christina and he found a cabin on the outskirts of a muggle town and used magic to force the elderly muggle couple to sell to them. He felt horrible but he had to find a safe place for his pregnant wife and unborn child to stay until they could go on the run yet again. On March 4, 1998 a little girl was born, she had a thick head of dark black, almost blue, hair and big brown eyes. Christina instantly named her Sable Rose Barlett -- a name she had always wanted her first child to have (though Robert did chip in her middle name and of course their last).
Robert soon realized he couldn't force his child to grow up in hiding and when the call came to fight at the Battle of Hogwarts he answered commanding Christina to stay with their daughter who was only a few months old. He died in battle that night and Christina broke down, she now had a very young child she would have to raise on her own and she just knew she couldn't do it. With a heavy heart she returned to her family heart broken, grief stricken, and in a deep depression.
At first Christina's parents welcomed the pair with open arms though they had little interest in their "granddaughter". Christina was an only child and the only hope they ever had for grandchildren and therefore could not afford to lose their daughter again. However Christina fell into a deeper depression each day she spent trapped under her parents roof until she eventually just stopped caring for anything or anyone at all, including her young daughter. Eventually the scheming parents paid another young pureblooded girl to take care of Sable while they "tried" to coax their daughter back around. In reality they were able to keep Christina in a state of dependence by exclaiming Sable was well taken care of and she should just rest. Eventually they started to see a bit of improvement meaning Christina would be back to her old self but instead of being happy they quickly deducted a plan to get rid of the stain on their family without murdering a child -- they soon began spiking her drink with a sleeping potion before contacting a 'specialist'. They exclaimed their daughter had been in a slump ever since her lover died and she wasn't getting any better, she didn't want to see her daughter, or eat, or even get out of bed. The parents painted the perfect picture of a no win situation and they begged for their daughter to be saved. Eventually it was agreed they should alter her memory but then came the problem of tiny Sable. Her grandmother insisted that they couldn't remove Robert without removing Sable as well -- after all their daughter couldn't be a mother alone! When the solution that they adopt Sable came up the grandparents quickly refused claiming it was simply too risky and that the mere site of Sable might send their daughter into a spiral. Instead they decided to put her up for adoption but the specialist refused to send a child so well off with nothing. So the Jones were forced to set up a very hefty fund for the child before they could convince the specialist to do her job. In short order Christina's memory was erased and little Sable was whisked away never to see her mother again.
It wasn't all bad though, after about two weeks in a Group Home the specialist was able to locate her a nice family. Her grandparents on her deceased fathers side had only heard a little bit about the child from their son before they received the letter informing them their son had fallen in battle. Grief stricken they comforted each other assuming that his wife and daughter were gone too. However when a young woman with a picture of a little girl showed up claiming to have found their "missing" grandchild who was now motherless everything seemed to fall into place. The Bartletts Quickly adopted the little girl eager to raise the last connection they had with their son.
Sable soon grew up with her Grandparents, they taught her to call them mother and father when she was small but as soon as she was seven years old and smart enough to understand they explained about her father and what had happened. Meanwhile without Sable's knowledge, her real mother actually remarried and had another daughter only three years after Sable was given away. To make matters worse her confused mother quickly named the child Sable, a name she had picked for her first born years earlier. It was the final nail in the coffin and further cemented the truth that Sable had officially been forgotten and replaced even though she never knew it. Somehow even though the girls are only three years apart the two Sables never managed to meet during their years at Hogwarts, and even better Sable's half sisters Cynthia and Rose might even be in her classes this year. Sable has always known she was adopted by her grandparents since that day and is ok with it -- the only problem is she wished she could remember her own mother. Still life goes on and the little baby grew from a few months old to eleven years and her adopted parents weren't surprised when she was invited to Hogwarts. She was well taken care of by her fund able to buy the best school supplies, she's always wondered how that happened but never really asked assuming her adoptive parents had set a fund together long ago and they were happy to let her think that.
When she arrived she was sorted straight into Ravenclaw House and quickly lived amongst the other smart eggs where she found she loved potions and had a knack for them quickly becoming head of class and best student. It was no surprise when she later applied for the Potions Professor position as soon as her old Professor retired. He put in a good word for her and to her amazement she soon got the job! The 2022 school year would be her first ever school year teaching.
Recently, Sable has come to realize she can talk to ferrets. It's not quite like talking to humans, her ferrets are a lot more hyper and often she'll tune them out as they play -- both of her ferrets are fast talkers and usually keep to themselves, hardly ever having any real lengthy conversations with her. Sable has decided to keep this a secret simply because it'd be annoying for anyone to ask how it works when she honestly has no clue.
