Ballet, Dancing in General - It's her number one passion in life; she hopes someday to dance for a company in Paris or Russia.
Control - Gwen likes to be the one calling the shots whenever humanly possible. She hates having to wait for others to come through, and she certainly doesn't like not being the one in charge of herself or a certain situation. Perhaps that's why she enjoys ballet so much, considering you have to be completely in tune with every inch of your body at any given moment.
All things French - She speaks it fluently, visits her grandfather in Paris every summer, and hopes to move there after she graduates from Hogwarts to pursue a career in dance. Beauxbatons would have been her candy store.
Sweets - Probably completely counter intuitive for a dancer, but Gwen just can't say no to a pastry or a bit of sugar. Of course that means she has to work extra hard every time she goes to Honeydukes and restocks her stash, but everyone should be allowed a little indulgence.
Competition - Nothing pushes Gwen like someone else. She has taken quite an interest in Dueling in the last two years at school, and she's convinced that no one on campus can outmatch her wand or her feet.
DISLIKES:
Overly Emotional People - She tends to think emotions are for weaker people. Gwen doesn't like to show emotions on the surface if she can help it. She's gotten a bit of an 'ice princess' reputation.
Disorder - Stemming from her want of control, Gwen likes everything to be just so. You'll never find her bed not made, or a hair out of place on her head. She prefers a routine, and thoroughly hates surprises.
Liars - She'd much rather just hear the truth and hold a grudge against you than have you lie to her to try and smooth things over. And no one hold a grudge quite like Gwendolyn Vaughn.
Nicknames - She's Gwendolyn. If you must (or if for some reason she considers you a friend) she will answer to Gwen. Gwennie or Wendy or Lynn? You'll get just a glare if you're lucky.
BIGGEST FEAR: Not living up to her potential; never making it as a ballerina.
PERSONALITY:
Perfectionist - Whether its not leaving her dorm until her hair is falling just so, or re-writing her homework five or six times until all her handwriting is neat and legible, Gwen is constantly striving for perfection in everything she does, and very rarely accepts anything less.
Guarded - Gwen doesn't like to show emotion or even hint that she has them. Don't expect her to pour her heart out to you, even if inside she's practically screaming wanting to vent.

Internally Emotional - Even though she doesn't like to show it, the girl has feelings. She's not always the ice princess she makes herself out to be, but she's just afraid to show it. To Gwen, emotions are a weakness. They can be manipulated and used against you, and that's not something she wants to deal with. She struggles to keep everything hidden below the surface where it cant hurt her. That of course, can't last forever.
Vain - Gwen thinks she's just the prettiest little peacock. She is very particular about her appearance (again, her want for complete control rears its head) and will make sure that she's looking her best constantly. Even if that means getting up early so she gets her shower first and has at least an hour before classes to do her hair and makeup. She's slightly more lax when she's around her fellow Slytherins, meaning she might let them see her with curlers in her hair ... once a semester.
Independent - Gwen is fiercely independent, liking instead to use her wits and creativity to solve problems on her own without asking others for any sort of help. Part of this is from being an only child; she didn't have any siblings to pair up with or interact with growing up. Gwen was more or less surrounded by adults whether at home or when she went to dance. Sometimes this means she can over complicate things by leaving it all to herself, but the added steps or added time needed are seen as simply part of the catch for wanting to do it all herself.

HISTORY:
Gwen is from Cardiff, Wales born and raised. She is the only child of Taryn and Lisette Vaughn. Her mother and father met in their fourth year at Hogwarts; Taryn a Hufflepuff, Lisette a Ravenclaw. Her father is Welsh as far back as he can trace his family, and her mother is French/English. The Veela can be traced from her mother's maternal side; her mother being a quarter, and her grandmother half. She often wishes she was much more than simply an eighth, especially when it comes to the career she wants to pursue upon graduating Hogwarts.
Actually attending Hogwarts was quite a contentious point in her house. As far as her parents were concerned, Gwen was getting her letter and attending, just as the two of them and everyone else in their respective families had. However, Gwen's interests lay elsewhere; Charms and Potions and feeding slugs little pieces of lettuce was just not something she was very interested in. Her parents literally had to drag her kicking and screaming onto the Hogwarts Express her first year. If Gwen had her way, she would have been attending a school of a different sort...
Gwen's grandfather on her mother's side is muggle-born, and he was responsible for introducing the young girl to ballet by taking her to the Paris Opera Ballet company whenever she would come to visit during her summer holidays. Gwen started dancing when she was four, and has been dancing ever since with the Welsh Ballet Company Cymru in her hometown.
It has gotten harder for her to find places to practice since coming to Hogwarts -- the school isn't exactly equipped with a dance studio -- but this resourceful little Slytherin has learned to make due with an abandoned classroom and some charmed mirrors. If you're wandering around on the sixth or seventh floor and hear someone playing Swan Lake rather loudly, you can be sure that Gwen is somewhere up there practicing her toes off.
She feels as if her Veela heritage will somehow factor in and give her an advantage; especially when it comes to winning leading roles later on in her career. Gwen has that ballerina ideal firmly cemented in her mind from watching the girls dance in Paris with her grandfather, and if being an eighth magical siren can help her with that, she's all for it. Of course, being only an eighth most of what she can do is firmly in her head; that and she's never tried charming anyone before... ever.
As much as she loves her grandfather, the idea that her family isn't strictly pureblood depresses her a little bit; it probably stems from her want to be perfect at all times. Being a half blood isn't the ideal -- isn't perfection -- so it's somehow not as good. She doesn't talk about her family much because of it, and very rarely will tell you what her blood situation is. She's not fanatical, and her view on blood purity doesn't seem to stem past her own body (for now), but she could be influenced one way or the other depending on who has her ear and for how long.
As she has spent more time at Hogwarts, with this being her seventh and last year, her attitude towards a magical education has somewhat softened; she learned to enjoy some but not all of her classes, finding she was much better at Charms than she ever thought she would be. She still feels the need to be in control as much as possible, though. That never seems to change.
