HISTORY:
Born and raised in London, his father inherited a private bus company from his father, so the family have always been quite wealthy. His mother made the best of her life, and his memories of her are all fond ones, but he can never recall really liking his father.
His mother died in his first year at Hogwarts from a rare bone disorder which Hector refused to acknowledge properly, and Ignatius' rapport with his father suffered for it. They rarely speak now, even over the holidays, and Ignatius has started staying at Hogwarts instead of going home whenever he can. They have often clashed on everything from sports to whether or not Ignatius is actually his son (he is, but Hector doesn't understand how the magical genes are passed).
Ignatius attended a private all-boys school until he came to Hogwarts. As a result has a fairly inflated ego and can be quite judgmental, traits which have not endeared him to the students and staff at Hogwarts, for the most part. He found early on that he exceeded at Potions, and spent his loneliest days around the grounds reading books on the subject for fun. He also enjoys Charms, but doesn't seem to have any real knack for it. He has tried out for the Quidditch Team several times, but so far has been unsuccessful. He has a few acquaintances, but no one he would truly term a friend at school. He mostly socialises at meal times and during class, then doesn't know how to push the conversation any further. He has discovered that people will listen to him if he speaks authoritatively, but he generally lacks the confidence to actually try
to lead anyone.
Despite his potential, he has never really thrived, but that has begun slowly changing since his 5th year. He began making an effort to speak to people and come out of his shell, which has had mixed results, leaving him confused as to what type of person he really is. As a result, he most often tries to be polite and friendly, but occasionally gets overly sensitive and withdraws over small things.
