Salome Alexandria Fox
CANON OR ORIGINAL: Origional

FACE CLAIM: Candice Swanepoel
YEAR: Seventh
HOUSE: Hufflepuff
OCCUPATION: N/A
BLOOD TYPE: Pureblood
WAND TYPE: 9 3/4, Silver Lime & Unicorn Hair Core
SILVER LIME : This unusual and highly attractive wand wood was greatly in vogue in the nineteenth century. Demand outstripped supply, and unscrupulous wandmakers dyed substandard woods in an effort to fool purchasers into believing that they had purchased silver lime. The reasons for these wands’ desirability lay not only in their unusually handsome appearance, but also because they had a reputation for performing best for Seers and those skilled in Legilimency, mysterious arts both, which consequently gave the possessor of a silver lime wand considerable status. When demand was at its height, wandmaker Arturo Cephalopos claimed that the association between silver lime and clairvoyance was ‘a falsehood circulated by merchants like Gerbold Ollivander (my own grandfather), who have overstocked their workshops with silver lime and hope to shift their surplus.’ But Cephalopos was a slipshod wandmaker and an ignoramus, and nobody, Seer or not, was surprised when he went out of business.

LIKES: Undisturbed and peaceful Sleep, cats, tea, chocolate, thunder storms, the smell of burning wood, fire, late nights, astronomy, sleeping to the sound of rain, remembering dreams, a rush of adrenaline, things considered "dangerous" and "Bad," books, being organized, social gatherings, snow, writing letters.
DISLIKES: Unnecessary judgement, hot weather, Quidditch, Summer time, the grand staircase, early mornings, people who speak loudly, people who can't mind their own business, Herbology, authority, mispronunciation of her name, howlers, dueling.
BIGGEST FEAR: Being riddled with mental illness. As a person who prides herself on her mind the biggest thing she has to fear is being mentally unstable.
PERSONALITY:
LOYAL : Like all Hufflepuffs, Salome is very loyal. It is one of her distinguishing traits, how almost insanely loyal she is to people, some of which don't deserve it. When the sorting hat placed her in Hufflepuff Salome assumed it was due to the fact that she was die hard loyal to her pureblood family and how she was unafraid of toil, but she later found out that wasn't the only thing that lead her to be placed in the house of badger. Regardless, anyone who proves they are worth her time with gain her loyalty. When Salome makes a friend it is a friend for life, and she will always help them and stay loyal to them (if she can stand it). However, her loyalty to family is a bit misguided. While there wasn't anything tragic or terrible in her childhood and upbringing she still comes form an elitist pureblood family, and more often then not they partake and do things that should cause Salome to run the other way.
CYNICAL: Salome isn't an optimist. Some people call her pessimistic, but she isn't, she's realistic. Realistic to the point of being cynical, as a lot of people say. She doesn't have much faith in the human race as a whole, and while some people have proven her wrong it doesn't sway her views. She knows that, by nature, people are selfish and cruel creatures. She won't sugar coat her view on this, and more often then not will call people out on having alternative motives for the way they act and speak. Actually, her cynical nature has even made her a bit paranoid, for she always think people want something from her other then just company.
AMBITIOUS: When seeing the sorting hat Salome always thought she was going to be in Slytherin due to her ambitious behavior. She is literally willing to do anything to get ahead and achieve her goals which is a fault as much as a strength. She is not a girl who is over smart, but she has a great memory. The only reason why she is so full of knowledge is because of her ambition to graduate best in her class - from day one she has been studying hard to achieve that goal. Her dreams and goals can often cloud her judgement, and Salome isn't afraid to sabotage someone else to get what she wants.
SASSY: Salome is a rare type of humor that not many people understand. She is sassy and witty, and more often then not her jokes tend to fly over other people's heads. She'd the type of girl to laugh at her own jokes while everyone else falls silent. Her humor is dry, and more often then not it comes off as her having an attitude, when really she is just poking fun at everyone and everything. Her humor is also sometimes cruel, which not many people enjoy.
PASSIVE-AGGRESSIVE ELITIST: Like most purebloods Salome thinks she is better then you. However, she isn't going to throw it in your face like a lot of others. She is proud of her heritage and if you try to talk to her about it she won't hesitate to say "Purebloods are the rightful members of the wizarding community." She will defend her opinion until the end of time, and no one is going to make her think differently. However, she isn't very adamant about it. Honestly she prefers not to talk bout blood statuses, mainly because she knows most people disagree with her and she doesn't feel like dealing with their self righteous bull crap.
MALLEABLE: While she does have her own perspective Salome can easily be swayed one way or another. She doesn't really take the blood statues very seriously, but if she hung out with the right people she could easily be swayed. From a young age she was molded by her parents to be what they wanted her to be, and not once did she try to defy the mold they were making for her. She is use to adapting the views of other people, and will continue to do so. She isn't that much of a free thinker. It is this trait that landed her in Hufflepuff.
"How easy swayed you are," The sorting hat whispered in her ear. "Slytherin will easily pull you as will all other houses except one," he commented, Salome shifting uncomfortably in her seat. "Pick your own path young Fox, in the house that won't persuade you to any which way. HUFFLEPUFF!"

MOTHER: Mary Jane Fox
FATHER: Kahn Augustus Fox
SIBLINGS: Eric Adrian Fox (older Brother), Kendrick Nicholas Fox (Younger Brother).
HISTORY:
Unlike a lot of other people, Faye's childhood and upbringing wasn't particularly spectacular or amazing. Well, it wasn't particularly spectacular or amazing for people who aren't purebloods. From day one she was surrounded by magic and the finer things in life, due to not only due to the old money inherited by her father but also due to the jobs that both her mother and father held within the Ministry of Magic. Salome's father works in the courtrooms under the chief warlock, while her mother worked in the department of international magical cooperation. Needless to say they both made a decent amount of money to take care of all their children, and even after her mother retired to be a stay at home mom they still had plenty of coin to get whatever it was they needed and desired.
Salome was the second of three children to her parents, and as the middle child and only daughter she got a little bit extra attention. Unlike most middle children she didn't feel left out of neglected. She got plenty of love from both her parents, even if she didn't see her father too much. He was and continues to be a very busy man within the Ministry, so Salome only really gets to see him on weekends. When she is at Hogwarts she only gets to talk to him through letters.
Like most children, Salome's first few years of life she doesn't remember. If she thinks hard enough, the first thing she can really remember was studying in the large library in the Fox family estate, something that was expected of any member of an upstanding pureblood family. But for the most part Salome didn't mind the forced studying and reading by her parents. She would read mostly wizarding children's books, and once she got old enough to understand some basic concepts of magic she started to read first year level books, in preparation for Hogwarts.
Salome, though she was unaware, was being groomed by her parents to be an upstanding member of the pureblood society. To her she was just following her parents directions (though, she did complain about it. Not because she didn't want to, but because she didn't like be told what to do by anyone), but to them they were making sure she was going to be a well rounded individual who would up hold all the standards of her blood status. She was born and raised Northern England, and accompanying her studies of basic magical subjects she was also taught french and russian so she can communicate with other purebloods from the two other major wizard schools (Beauxbatons and Durmstrang). Though she isn't fluent in Russian she does speak French quite well.
Growing up Salome got along best with her younger brother, who is three years younger then she is (currently and 4th year). Her older brother was a bit more reserved and committed to Salome's father, and as the first born son of Kahn he got a lot of special attention. However both of her brothers are very over protective of her, even if she is capable of doing things on her own. Her relationship with Eric is a little tense, because while he is very career driven and knew exactly what he wanted from the minute he received his Hogwarts letter Salome isn't so lucky. It's a shame, really. She has no idea what she wants to do once she graduates, which is troubling to both her, her parents, and Eric. He doesn't want her to embarrass the family by doing nothing. It is a contraction, for a girl who is so ambitious she has nothing to put that ambition to yet.
Salome's first run in with magic came when she was eight years old. Her mother had gotten her a new doll, but Salome, the ever spoiled child, didn't like the color she got. So she cried and cried, throwing her little hissy fit until the color of the doll's dress changed to the color she wanted - blue to red. Her mother was thrilled at the bit of magic performed by her little girl, and while she thought it was all the special skill Salome possessed she was wrong.
Shortly after her bit of color changing Salome began to have strange dreams. After a good week and a half of sleepless nights Salome finally complained to her mother about the issues she had been having with her sleep. Mary Jane didn't take much head to her daughter's plights, saying they were only bad dreams and it was nothing to worry about. But Salome wasn't' so sure; they weren't nightmares, just events. Nothing scary or unorthodox.
This continued for several weeks until one of the dreams Salome had came true. She dreamed that her grandmother came by to visit unexpectedly, which caused her and her mother to get into an argument. In the middle of their argument Salome jumped in, saying she dreamed of this exact situation. Her grandmother, who was previously angered by her daughter stopped the argument with a smile on her face. "My dear child," she said to Salome as she walked over to her granddaughter. "It looks as though the seer gene skipped a generation."
Salome spent a lot of time with her grandmother after that, who explained that Salome had the gift of sight, something that has been passed down through her bloodline for generations. She explained how disappointed she was by her children, who did not possess the gene, but none the less happy it showed up again. Salome, for the nest few years started to truly study magic, spending a lot of time with her grandmother as she learned about her gift. Her mother, on the other hand took to teaching her different things.
For the next few years until she received her letter Salome was trained in the art of looking the part by her mother. While she is close to her mother, Salome has a distaste for her. She is very vain and cares more about what she looks like then whats in her head, and though she had a good mind about her Salome's mother only cared how perfect her hair was. Mary Jane couldn't have her only daughter looking like a mess, it would embarrass the family name. From day one at Hogwarts Salome always made sure she looked her best when out in public, and though she isn't particularly vain she is programmed to feel uncomfortable when she doesn't look her best.
Along with appearances, once Salome reached a certain age her parents really started to lay into her about the blood purity. They were both more intense about their views then Salome grew to be, but it went hand in hand with the presses placed on a young girl. "You're of pureblood, Salome," her father would later explain. "A lot is expected of someone who has pure magic running through their veins. Don't let the dirty bloods be better then you."
Like all students, Salome received her Hogwarts letter at age eleven. She was quickly ushered off to Diagon alley with parents where she received all the finest supplies and clothes that money could buy. When she reached Hogwarts she was almost uncomfortable in the sorting ceremony in her fancy robes, but adapted to the fact that she was a pureblood, and she was better then everyone else.
Salome was disappointed when sorted into Hufflepuff, as were her parents. But over the years she has grown to love her house, even if her parents still have a distaste for the house of badger. Form a young age the only goal Salome has set for herself was to graduate top of her class, and from the start of her schooling studied very very hard. She would pass up opportunities to be social to read and do her homework, which worked for the first few years of her time at Hogwarts. But as she started to develop and become an adolescent she craved the attention of others, particularly cute boys.
Like every teenage girl she wanted to have friends, so Salome put her schooling on the back burner for her third year as she tried to socialize. This didn't end well, Salome barely passing her classes as she tried to venture out into the social scene. This was a mistake she refused to make again, the Hufflepuff learning to balance both her studies and her friends. She refused to compromise her dreams again for the sake of anyone else, and in her mind the people she befriended her third year did her wrong. While she didn't cut ties with them she didn't really trust them anymore either. Salome, through the next few years dedicated her time mostly to her studies, receiving extra help when she needed and as she got older even proceeded to tutor some younger students.
Salome, however did ignore her seer gene the best she could. Most of her visions come to her in sleep (if she isn't actively practicing Divintion at the time), and this left her to have a lot of sleepless nights. She was always in constant talk with her grandmother, her urged her to seek help at Hogwarts to learn to control her ability. But Salome refused. She had more important things to worry about, and thought her ability as a seer was not that important.
To this day she still can't control her ability.
