HISTORY:
Meg Anne Ashland was born to Dianne and Jonathan Ashland on February 28th, the third child of the couple.
Dianne died during a complicated childbirth, thus Meg never met her mother. Her father and two elder siblings helped raise
her in a small magical village in Wales. Dianne was a Muggle, but Jonathan was a wizard, and all of the children ended up going to Hogwarts. Pretty much from the time she was born (at the very least, since her very earliest memories,) the family has lived in the same modest flat above a tavern in their small, Welsh village. This village, like many other minuscule towns peppered across Europe, is virtually wizard-exclusive, so Meg was never really exposed to Muggles or their lifestyle. Living off of the one income of a shop assistant (the only work her father could find,) the Ashland family could never really afford a vacation - but Meg most certainly grew up in a house of magic, and that was more than enough for her. She gobbled up every bit of the magic world she could get her hands on all throughout her childhood - new spells her Ravenclaw brothers brought home on holiday, the newspaper's Quidditch section, and all of the lovely herbs and exotic things down the lane at the apothecary shop, especially. Meg loved it all. When she finally reached the golden age, age 11, she could hardly contain herself on her first train ride to Hogwarts. She was more than a tad disappointed and, frankly, confused when she was sorted into Gryffindor instead of Ravenclaw like her brothers, but it did not take long for the reasoning behind the Sorting Hat's decision to become apparent. Meg was a very average performer of magic, eking by in most subjects, excelling in none. On top of that, Meg quickly realized that she loved the practice, but hated the theory. Her father had taught her basic life and academic skills the best he could, but Meg had never really been exposed to a "school"-type setting before. She carelessly deflected homework, essays, and readings as they were piled on her, in favor of exploring every inch of Hogwarts or getting in a game of Quidditch with her newly found friends. Now in her fifth year, Meg has a pretty firmly defined reputation as an academic burnout, but a ball of fire in most other areas of life.
