PERSONALITY:
arrogant - Rick is a smart, good-looking guy and he knows it. sometimes making people too aware that he knows how amazing he is. he think of it as confidence but most people see it as him being a cocky jerk.
emotionally distant - the lad as a hard time expressing his emotions for people, though he knows he is gorgeous and that every lady should love him he has no idea how to actually have an emotional relationship with anyone. he isn't one to be found crying in front of anyone or even laughing at much for that matter, he believes that his emotions would be proof of weakness.
hunger for knowledge - more than anything else, Rick wants to learn. he feels the need to know a bit of everything, be it a new language or a complicated spell, Rick needs to at least attempt at mastering it.
impatient - Rick has never been one to have patience for anyone, if he believes that the person is holding him back he isn't afraid to drop them. his biggest pet peeve is ignorance in people, if he thinks them slow or stupid he won't be bothered to put up with them. he likes to use big words and he doesn't feel he has the time to explain every word in his vocabulary after he uses it.
perfectionist - be it his appearance or his mind, Rick needs to make sure that everything is just so. when he isn't busy reading and learning something new, he is usually working out. strength in all forms is what we aim for.

Second son, born into a very blood proud family, Rick was raised from the beginning to strive to be the best of the best. His father was not one to deal with any nonsense, it was easy to say that "fun" was rarely a part of the equation. At first Rick loathed his father, feeling like he was never able to enjoy anything without looking over his shoulder. Rather than deal with his wrath, the boy soon decided it was best to hide behind his books. At least if he was studying his father couldn't complain.
In school Rick does well, receiving top grades in most of his classes, one of the only things that he could admit was due to fear of his father's hand. Even with his arrogant attitude and great grades he never really felt like he was living up to his father's expectations. Always the second son, always second best to his older brother. Always told he was too emotional and that he was weak, "never good enough to deserve the Ishard name".
Rather than take it hard he wore it as armor, quickly learning to not allow himself the emotional connections that other students had. Making allies but not friends, not allowing himself to get distracted, determined that if he can't have the strength that his father admired so much he would have the mind that he envied.
Despite having a terrible relationship with his father and having nothing but envy of his older brother Rick has a very close relationship with his mother. As long as he could remember the woman was the only one that showed any pride in him. Reassuring him that his emotions were his strength and not a weakness when he was younger, coddling him even. Though he doesn't let anyone know of his close relationship with his mother, he does love her dearly.
The only person that he cares about as much as he does his mother would be you kid sister, perhaps it was her charming personality that made it so easy for him to love her. Growing up together the boy would always make sure that no one ever harmed her, be it physically or emotionally Rick would not stand for it. She would be the only reason for him to stand up to his father.
