The years had been good to Arthur Weasley. The blue-eyed and now gray and white haired old man had a fine career in the Ministry, a wonderful wife, and raised seven amazing children. True he tragically lost his son, Fred, in the Battle of Hogwarts, and he missed him dearly, but he then went on to be blessed with a wealth of grandchildren. He was a lucky man indeed. His time as Head of the Office for the Detection and Confiscation of Counterfeit Defensive Spells and Protective Objects allowed him a nice retirement nest egg, enough to support himself and his beloved Molly for the rest of their lives. So money was not a problem, nor was loneliness of course given his large family. The main issue that plagued his retirement was... boredom. There were the days that his wife was out and about, his children were at work or at their own homes, and his grandchildren were at school. That was when he had to make something of the time. He had been up and down and in and out of Diagon Alley, and the place had become a bit dull. So, on a fairly clear day, he decided to take a trip into the Muggle side of London. It was high time he learned more about these non-magical folks that had fascinated him for so many years.
Walking along the streets of London, Arthur wondered where would be the best place to start. Going into a store that sold modern electronics might have been a bit much for him, as he would have to do some back tracking. Fortunately he came across a story called Neddie's Nostalgia Nook. According to a sign in the store, it sold things made popular from the 1950's through the early 2000's. Perfect... just perfect. As he looked about, he suddenly found the opportunity to discover something that he had wanted to know for a very long time. Something he had asked Harry Potter years ago, but never quite got the answer he needed. Now the wisdom of the Muggles would finally shine upon in and unravel a great mystery.
"Pardon me, Miss?" he asked a young sales girl who was in the process of stocking some Dustbusters. "What is the function of this?" The young girl looked at the yellow Rubber Duck in his hand, and then stared at Arthur as if he had gone mad. Well he wasn't mad, but Arthur had always been on the eccentric side. Perhaps he should of expected the reaction, given Muggles were no doubt quite use to such magnificent items as the duck he had in his hand.
"Um... they're bath toys for children," said the perplexed employee.
"Ah," said Arthur, was was sadly a bit underwhelmed at the answer. Without thinking, he then pressed it a bit harder and it squeaked, startling him a little and causing him to drop. He quickly picked it up, a slight blush on his aging face. "Thank you very much, Miss."
He then stepped over and saw something of the Muggles he was somewhat more familiar with, and that was a television. In his travels in London in the past, he had passed stores with them playing a number of times after all. The TV was playing a movie, and Arthur chuckled when the title "The Worst Witch" came on the screen.
"They must be referring to Bellatrix LeStrange," he said to himself. He then heard a couple behind him talking about it.
"Oh I remember this movie," said the woman. "It's about a school that young witches attended to learn magic."
"Sounds a bit nutters to me," said the man. Arthur's eyes widened and he turned to look at them.
"And what is so nutters about young witches attending school?" he asked. The couple gave him the same odd look that the sales girl had and Arthur recalled that he was in a Muggle store again. "Well then... I'll just go purchase my rubber duck." He smiled and nodded to the two before heading to the register. Their odd stares remained though.

Lucy had been sneaking away from the school a lot lately since the accident. She still wasn't one hundred precent since the incident that happened the day after Christmas. The explosian had killed one of her best friends and right now Lucy wasn't in the right mind set. She would end up just breaking down and crying at the worst possible moments. Yes it had been three months since the incident but for Lucy it kept playing in her head over and over. Seh couldn't get away from it and she never wanted to talk about it with anyone. It had been her Uncle Ron and Uncle Harry to find her. Her dad could barley go and visit her in the hospital, too busy with his blasted work probably. She didn't care anymore. She hated her father and nothing would ever change that, he could never change that. He had let her down too many times. How Molly could stand to be in the same room as the man she didn't know but Lucy would have no part with him ever. No matter how much Lucy rested she still hurt right now. It was probably because of the full moon every month when she had to change. That hurt even without having been in an accident. Her bones breaking over and over to conform to the beast's body. Lucy shivered as she thought about it. She couldn't think about that now. She had snuck away from school. It was a weekend but she really wasn't supposed to be gone. She just needed a break from everyone constantly watching her waiting for her to break down or something. So here she was walking the streets of London when she heard a familiar voice. She was walking around the muggle part of London because she did like muggles and how they handled day to day life without magic. She smirked and walked over to them all as people walked away looking at him like he was mentally ill. Grandpa you can't go around talking to muggles like that she said softly. She had always loved her grandpa because he always told her what a fablous job she did on anything no matter if it was right or wrong. He had alwyas encouraged her to do whatever she set her mind to, something she wished her father would do. She linked her arm through one of his and smiled at him softly. So what are you doing here Grandpa she said. |

Arthur was at the register, and paying with some Muggle cash when he heard Lucy's voice. He looked down and his old face beamed when he saw his granddaughter. He had been so grateful that she had survived that terrible incident, though she knew very well what she was going through with the loss of her friend. "Why hello Lucy! What a wonderful surprise!" he said. "And I know I shouldn't, my dear. I'm still getting use to their strange world, even at my age." The second part he whispered, seeing that he could really get people staring if they heard him say that. He gladly accepted her arm. How he loved his time with his grandchildren. By then he had made his purchase and was heading back out on the streets of London. "Oh, Molly was out doing witch things with some of her friends... no men allowed and all that," he chuckled. "And I got a bit bored so I thought I'd look about the Muggle end of London." He then showed her his new purchase. "See what I bought. This is a rubber duck and it's function is to amuse Muggle children while they take their baths. And it does this..." Arthur spoke like he knew this all along, though he just found out about it. Arthur then squeaked it and chuckled again. He then realized something and looked at Lucy. "Wait a moment... what are you doing here?" he asked. "Aren't you supposed to be in school?" Arthur almost never judged his beloved grandchildren, or became angry with them. When Lucy was sorted into Slytherin, Arthur did not think anything bad of it. However, he was concerned for her education in general, and not very happy now that he realized she wasn't at Hogwarts. LUCY EMMALINE WEASLEY
