HISTORY: Tobias Landon Becker never knew his real father.
For a long time, it had always been him, his sisters and brother and his mum, and really, Toby didn't mind that. His father was a wizard, but as soon as Leann said she was pregnant he bolted, leaving her to raise her son. Leann met Matthew soon after and married him, so Toby grew up with Matthew as his father. Toby's always been quite close to his mother, even if she complained that he'd turn her prematurely grey eventually. See, Toby was always a bit of a class clown, earning his share of detentions and suspensions from school. Toby was a good student, but only when he chose to focus on his schoolwork. At 9 his mother took him to see a psychiatrist who said he had ADHD.
When Toby was ten, strange things started happening around him when he got annoyed or scared. Dishes would randomly fly out of the cupboard and shatter, the mirrors and windows would shake, things like that. Toby was fairly popular at school, so he didn't have to worry about bullying, but he often got into trouble playing pranks on his teachers and students. Most of the time if he accidentally performed magic, his friends and siblings seemed to think it was cool.
Toby realized he was different when a teacher he didn't particularly like punished him. One minute she was yelling at him for disrupting her class, and the next her hair was bright green. She only realized what had happened because half the class screamed, and the other half practically fell out of their chairs laughing. Toby played innocent, and didn't even get into trouble for it at home. After his 11th birthday, a witch from the Ministry met with him and his parents and he received his letter from Hogwarts. His mother was a bit puzzled; she knew nothing about wizards and witches, and as far as she knew, had none in her family. None of them realized that Thomas, Toby's real father, was a wizard since he'd cut all contact from Leann when he left, not wanting to be a father. Toby was the only child of Leann's that was magical, as they found out when his siblings started coming of age.
Toby actually took being a wizard in stride; he thought the idea was pretty neat and was excited when he and his parents were led to the Leaky Cauldron, which his father was convinced hadn't been there. They passed this street all the time when they went shopping, how the heck was there a PUB here when it hadn't been before? The woman explained that muggles couldn't see it, but that it had been there for years.
Toby loved Hogwarts from the moment he stepped in the door and was sorted. Toby wasn't bored anymore, but as he got older he became better at playing pranks and, for people he didn't get along with, became a bit of a thorn in their side. Toby got detentions pretty often, whether it was slipping a dungbomb into someone's cauldron or simply being disruptive in classes he disliked, Toby found ways to get on people's nerves. He still made more friends than he even did in his muggle school, and enjoys Hogwarts much more. He's now heading into his sixth year at Hogwarts, and honestly? He doesn't want to leave.
