There had always been a sadness to Teddy Eastbooth. He was usually cheerful enough in front of others, but when he was alone, sometimes he would find himself with his face stuffed in his pillow and in tears. The reason for this was not that people made fun of him. In fact, he was very much liked at Hogwarts. It was also not because the Eastbooths, who he had called his parents since he was seven, mistreated him. They were very loving and caring foster parents. No... it had to do with his real parents and what they did, and to this day, it had stung.
Teddy remembered his old last name- Kandell. The Kandells were a wealthy Muggle couple who had actually shown a great deal of love to the so born to them until they discovered what he was. When he accidentally cast a minor spell in public at age six, they were shocked and soon embarrassed. They were afraid Teddy had some demonic force in him, and abandoned him on the street. By good fortune, Albert and Candace Eastbooth, a pureblood magical husband and wife, found him and took him in. He was thankful for that and for them, but even now, seven years later, he wanted to find his real parents and ask them why they did what they did, why him being a wizard caused them to go from loving to hating them.
The fact that he had still not found them to ask them still ate away at him. Gradually he had become distrustful of Muggles in general, despite his foster parents words that not all Muggles were so cruel. Still, he chose to stay in the magical part of London, and interact with magical friends. He had no issues with Muggle-born wizards and witches of course, as he was one himself. In fact, he was always interested to know what it was like having Muggle parents that loved them.
However, again just because this tore away at him didn't mean he wasn't happy in what had been his home for seven years or at Hogwarts. He had a wonderful family, and wonderful friends at the school. He also had his golden furred hamster Simon to keep him company. The hamster was very loyal to him, and could often be seen sitting on his shoulder. He loved playing games on the grounds with his mates, and experimenting with potential new concoctions in his potion class. He hoped to join the Hufflepuff Quidditch Team in a couple of years, but for now just enjoyed being casually active.
However, if there was one thing he loved to do more than anything, it was singing. He was in the school choir, and loved when he got to do a solo. He was a very talented singer, and enjoyed having that talent just as much as one would enjoy having a magical ability. Often students would gather to hear him in the Hufflepuff Common Room, and he had also performed at home at parties. His plans were to some day be a great wizard singer or perhaps get into musical theater. And in all that, he wondered if his real parents would even know of what he had accomplished... and secretly be proud of him.
The nights that he spent thinking (and crying a bit) over his lost parents had become less and less. He very rarely did it at school as he felt it might make him look silly in front of his school mates. But there were still times at home when Candace Eastbooth would have to come into his bedroom and hold her adopted son, comfort him, and remind him of how proud she and her husband were of him. It was those moments when Teddy would hope that some day he would put such a past behind him.
