MOTHER: Lavender Dora Maylis-Cresswell
FATHER: Dirk Abram Cresswell III
SIBLINGS: Iris Georgiana Cresswell
HISTORY: Magnolia Cresswell was born on a spring day, to a loving mother and father. Her father was the third Dirk Cresswell in his family, and the older brother of his only other sibling. His father, the Dirk Cresswell the Second, had been killed by Snatchers during the wizard war of Harry Potter's era. After the war and his father's funeral, he went traveling in hopes of finding new purpose for himself. Instead he found Lavender Maylis. She was a beautiful girl, on holiday with her family in Ireland. She was originally from the United States, and came from a very wealthy family that resided in Georgia. Although Dirk came from humble beginnings, she fell in love with him during the time she travelled Ireland and Europe, and he convinced her to live with him in his hometown: Loughton, Essex. He was able to get a steady job at the Ministry of Magic, taking after his father and brother. Soon after, Lavender and Dirk were married, and within a year had given birth to their first child, Magnolia. Six years after, Lavendar gave birth to Iris.
Magnolia grew up far from her mother's expectations. Her mother had been a Southern Belle through-and-through in Georgia, and she tried her best to rub it off onto her daughters. She believed in speaking only when spoken to, courting suitors, debutante balls, and anything sophisticated. Firstly, Magnolia hated her name and insisted she be referred to as Maggie. She wasn't a completely rebellious girl, it just turned out she hated things that were over the top. She was a Daddy's Girl, certainly. She and her father would go every year to the Quidditch World Cup, and he taught her things like how to spit, and how to properly hit a bludger. Her mother nearly fainted at the behavior, but Maggie loved it all. Still, parts of what her mother taught her had rubbed off. She was polite in public, and was always passionate about making everything right in the world. She knew how to use her manners, and what clothes looked best on her.
The family benefited from Mrs. Cresswell's family wealth. She had a large inheritance, and Maggie's grandparents paid for almost everything to make up for the fact that they lived so far away. They visited on holidays, since they still lived in the United States, but Maggie's paternal grandmother (the mother of her father) lived with them. She was an old woman now, and had her own living quarters on the main floor. Still, she was very sweet and wasn't at all bothered by the fact that she couldn't even stand up on her own. Whenever she was home, Maggie spent as much time as she could with her. She liked to listen to what her grandmother could tell her about the old days, and she would often encourage Maggie to be whoever she wanted to be.
As for her younger sister, Iris was much like their mother. She loved anything pink, frilly, and that reminded her of princesses. She was always by their mothers' side, baking, making crafts, or learning proper etiquette. While Maggie felt protective of her little sister, the two of them seldom got along. Iris had a superiority complex, and didn't approve of her older sister's tomboyish activities. She had a sharp tongue, and liked to nag Maggie, but Maggie would hardly ever respond to her when Iris was in one of her 'moods'. Maggie knew her little sister was spoiled, and her mother had clung to her as the girly one, grooming her into believing she really was a princess.
When Maggie had been accepted to Hogwarts, she had been so excited, running immediately to find her dad. Dirk Cresswell was the magical half of the family, and had previously attended Hogwarts himself. He was the one to take her London to buy her supplies, and see her off on the train. She was the first of her family to be sorted into Gryffindor, her ancestors being Hufflepuffs. Ever since then, she'd fit in easily, proving her place in Gryffindor.
