Astronomy class had just finished. The class had been studying the movement of Saturn in the night sky- pretty interesting stuff really. Space had always fascinated Ollie, so Astronomy class had always been fun for him, even if a lot of the classes were at night. Some people hated that, but he didn't mind it at all.
He packed up his bag and moved away from the telescope he had been using, and began to leave the room. As he did that, though, he saw a book left on the table that someone must have left behind. He picked it up and hurried after the closest person he could see, tapping her on the shoulder. "Hey, is this yours? It was left on the table back there," he explained, holding up the book.

Astronomy. A class Andrea actually enjoyed in some ways. The solar system along with many of the stars and constellations were interesting to her. Her mind was not on the class that day though, as she sat through the lecture Professor Lockhart was giving. It wasn't that he was boring, seeing as he was quite the upbeat fellow, but she had a lot on her mind. Well, she always had a lot on her mind. It was nothing new. However, she usually paid attention in Astronomy and today was not one of those days. Her mood was down and she just wanted to be alone to herself.
When class had ended, she stood up quickly to leave, thinking she had taken everything. She was about to be out the door, but she felt someone tap her on the shoulder. Turning abruptly, she stopped to see a boy standing there asking her if the book he was holding was hers. Her eyes narrowed as she stared at the boy for a moment, trying to figure out who he was and how she would handle the situation. She didn't want to be messed with, or touched for that matter, but at the same time she did hold some gratitude for the fact that he was returning her book to her. "Yes, it is." She said, taking it from him. She wasn't rough, but it wasn't politely either. "Thank you." She told him curtly, but at least she said it. Andrea wasn't one to say those words often, but she also wasn't going to be a complete bitch. After all, he had returned her book and her studies were important to her.

Ollie raised his eyebrows a little as he noticed her expression. She seemed like she was having a bad day, or something- or she just didn't want to be conversing with him. Her robes indicated that she was a Slytherin, but that didn't mean she was a mean person necessarily. He had met some Slytherins who were obsessed with the idea that pure blood was most important, and he hoped now that she was not one of those. "You're welcome," he replied with a pleasant smile. Pleasant, but not over-the-top nice. "I hope you don't mind me asking, but are you ok? You look angry, or upset, or something." Or she just hated him. He supposed he would find out now.

Honestly, Andrea was ready to leave as soon as she had her book. But, to her dismay, he continued to talk. It was actually quite annoying, especially how he decided to ask her if everything was alright like it was his business. And that smile. While he had a nice smile, she didn't want to be bothered by it. He was probably just like everyone else anyway; in love with her sister. That's all anyone ever saw was Jocelyn Flint. It was always Jocelyn this and Jocelyn that. Well for once, she would appreciate it to be about Andrea.
After placing her book in her bag, she looked at him again with the same hard look. "And who made it alright for you to ask me such a question?" She retorted, her eyes searching his, not allowing herself to fall for his kindness. It was probably a facade to hide his true nature anyway. Andrea never trusted a kind smile because most in the past had let her down, or as mentioned, got caught up in her sister. "Because, I really don't believe it's any of your business whether I'm angry, or upset, or something." She continued harshly, sliding her bag onto her shoulder before crossing her arms over her chest. "Who are you anyway?"

Well, that was one reaction to him being nice. Some sort of civil reaction might have been nice in response, but he just got rudeness. "Nobody did- it was just general decency. You looked upset so you might have wanted someone to talk to - maybe it turned out I shouldn't have bothered trying." His voice was still measured, and not angry. If that was the case, it wasn't something worth him getting upset over- he could just leave. "Ollie Summerby. You're Andrea, right?" They hadn't spoken before, but were in the same year so he had seen her be called upon in class at times.

Andrea shook her head with a small chuckle, though it was not a friendly one. "Well thank you so much for informing me of how I look." She said to him, her tone laced with sarcasm. She couldn't believe this boy. The nerve of some. However, it was impressive that he was keeping his temper on the down low. Maybe he wasn't one to get angry easily or maybe he was just generally a nice guy. It didn't matter to her though. She wasn't going to get wrapped up in someone who appeared to be kind and then regretted it later.
"And just so you know, you really shouldn't have bothered. You're wasting your time boy." And then she heard his name, which made matters so much worse. She was talking to a muggle-born. Ever since she was a little girl she had it drummed into her head that they were not worth her time. So maybe he was nice, and maybe if she realized it was genuine instead of fake, she would give him the time of day. But now... now she couldn't even look at him with a form of kindness. "Oh a Summerby. I know that name. You're one of them mudbloods and the older brother of that deaf girl I hear so much about."

Her sarcasm was quite irritating. Because as far as Ollie was concerned, it was totally uncalled for. He had brought her book back to her which she was going to leave behind, and was being nice to her, and she was just snapping back at him. "That does seem to be becoming clear," he said with a frown. But then she commented on his family and he felt himself stiffen. Especially when she talked about his sister, and called them mudbloods. Ollie had a very slow temper but he was starting to get pretty annoyed. "Do you really, genuinely think that being a pureblood makes you that much better than everyone else? Because if you do, just look around you. Some of the best witches and wizards in this school aren't purebloods- my sister included." His voice wasn't raised, but there was a hard edge to it.

This boy, Ollie, was getting on her last nerve. What made him think he could lecture her like that? She was taught from a young age to be the way she was and she wasn't going to change. At least, not yet. In all honesty, she was so confused about the fact that she wasn't allowed to care for other blood status', because he was right, some of the best witches and wizards were of lower blood. She knew it quite well, but she wouldn't admit to it. Hogwarts has been one big giant mixing pot of different people that confuse her each and every day. She just wanted some clarity for once in her life. What she didn't know was it was herself that was keeping her from that little bit of peace.
"Yes, I do in fact believe that and if you don't like it, you don't have to be standing here talking to me." She told him harshly, her eyes now glaring. "If we're being honest here, I believe you should have walked away after I took my book. Your kindness won't get you anywhere and as for your sister, I've heard she's quite the weak little thing. How does that make her a great witch when she can't even defend herself?" Maybe she was going a little too far, but this was who she became after years of feeling like she wasn't good enough for anyone. Only her brother Nicholas knew that she wasn't this person and in her heart she was just broken. Andrea Flint allowed the world to get to her and now she was just a girl who was cold to people that didn't deserve the treatment.

There wasn't any ambiguity about it in Ollie's mind. Any sort of prejudice based on blood was pointless in his eyes, as what made a person great was how they acted and the choices they made, not what they were born into. He was just about to agree that he shouldn't be standing there talking to her, when she took another shot at Emma. "Well if you can't appreciate people doing nice things for you, you're not going to have much of a life as you will keep pushing people away," he replied. "And I would feel sorry for you if that ended up being the case. But my sister gets picked on for something she couldn't help- but despite that she manages to be one of the best people I know, and one of the most talented witches. If she just turned around and cursed the people who picked on her, it would only take away from the person she is." He loved his little sister and would defend her as long as he had air in his lungs.

The audacity the boy had was impressive as she stood there staring at him. She really didn't know what to say to him anymore seeing as everything she shot at him, he came back at her. It wasn't forceful, but she could tell she was getting to him, especially when she mentioned Emma. Honestly, she didn't have anything against the girl, except for her blood status, but seeing him sweat over such a trivial matter almost satisfied her. He got so worked up about his little sister. Of course, if anyone were to make a comment about her brother Nicholas, she would make them regret it. Maybe even Brian. But if one person said something bad about Jocelyn, she would probably laugh and then befriend that person. Well, her type of friends anyway.
The worst part about what he said, was he was right. All she ever did was push people away. And to make it even sadder, she wasn't sure she felt anything anymore when she did cause people to stay away from her. She had grown so used to being alone that it hardly bothered her. At least on the surface. Deep down, she knew if she really tapped into it, she would feel pain. Who didn't when they were alone, only to truly call their brother their only friend. Of course, Andy got along and felt close to a few childhood friends, but she would never trust anyone like she did her brother. "You have no right to say that to me." She said to the Ravenclaw, gritting her teeth. He had officially struck a nerve and it was obvious, as much as she dreaded that. "Yeah, well, tell your sister to at least grow a backbone." She told him as she turned away to leave. She was done with him. He was annoying her. But more than that, she was afraid he was going to fully get to her. She wasn't going to let some mudblood break her down.
OOC: feel free to continue to follow her and bug her more if you don't want to end the thread : P

Ollie could tell that what he had said had made sense to her, about pushing people away. Her voice had lost the hard edge it had a moment ago and it seemed like he had struck a nerve. He felt kind of bad - he didn't like making people feel bad at all, ever - but in this situation, when she had been attacking Emma, he had had no other option. Still, he didn't want to just leave it at that. "I'm sorry. But I'm right, aren't I? That you keep pushing people away? You don't have to keep doing that, you know," he said as he took a couple of steps after her. If she ignored him and left, that was fine. But he felt like he had to try to get through to her a little, otherwise she would have a pretty awful life not being close to anyone.

Hearing footsteps behind her, Andrea looked over her shoulder to see Olliver following after her. She turned her head back around so that she was watching where she was going, an eye roll following after. What was his problem? Didn't he realize she didn't want to be messed with, and especially by the likes of him? He had another thing coming if he thought they could somehow be friends or if he thought he could get to her. If he wasn't careful, he might just get himself hexed. But she wasn't in the mood for such things at the moment. Maybe he would go away on his own.
Or maybe not. The boy started speaking to her, causing her to take a deep breath in order to compose herself. Stopping abruptly, she spun around just so she could glare at him again. "Why are you following me Summerby? I thought you would get the hint that I want nothing to do with you when I walked away." She snapped, getting tired of his good boy act and the fact he thought he knew her. He didn't and he never would. "As for all your little questions. You are wrong and always will be. You don't know me Summerby and you never will. Got it?" She said rather harshly, like she had in the beginning. He couldn't see her breaking and she wouldn't allow him to be the one to break her down. She was weak if that was the case. Sighing, she rolled her eyes before looking at him, her features softening only slightly as she crossed her arms. "Just stop trying to understand me, okay?"

Ollie just raised his eyebrows at her. Her reaction was heated which made him feel like he might have been right, and struck a nerve or something. But as it was, he hated confrontation and arguments, and didn't want to get into anything like that. He just gave a slight shrug. "Well, if you're sure. I think I'm right, though, and I think you know that too. But I'll leave you be to work things out yourself, because it seems like you need to," he finished. He adjusted his bag on his shoulder, starting to leave.
