HISTORY:
In America, there are a few different schools which teach witchcraft and wizardry. The two premier schools for eastern-native students are the Salem Witch's Institute, and Roanoke Wizard's Institute. Muggleborns are especially difficult to locate amongst all the activity that goes on in larger cities that are dotted across the east, particularly one Miles Eckstein, whose magical manifestations were attributed to foul luck. Soon enough, David Eckstein was transferred to a Scottish branch in the company that employed him, and the family uprooted and moved on to the UK.
During the earlier years of his life, Miles' parents had encouraged both his sister and him to learn to play musical instruments, a practice that Miles fell in love with and worked towards becoming better sometimes all night. His love for the band Blink 182 prompted him to start a garage band briefly before having to move.
By this point, Miles was in the final quarter of what should have been his 1st year, and when the ministry official approached the boy's parents, there was not much which could be done about late-enrolment for that year. So, it was decided that Eckstein would begin attending the Hogwarts school the following year as a 1st year. The magical world not only mystified the boy, but his family as well, immediately using the directions to Diagon Alley to collect his school supplies.
Before they knew it, the time had come for the tearful departure as Miles boarded the Hogwarts express to begin his education in magic. When he heard the houses, Miles had heard the Hufflepuff house, and something about it drew the boy towards it, likely the similarity of the house member's work ethic and loyalty reminded Eckstein of the stories that his Zaydeh had always relayed about the concentration camps. Thus, the sorting hat announced boomingly, "HUFFLEPUFF!!"
Over the course of his following years at the school, Miles worked hard and got better, even learning to charm his guitar to make it produce electric music without the need for an amplifier. Additionally, he encountered some harassment for being a minority within a minority, a Hebrew muggleborn, thus earning him the dislike of certain blood-purists and a few slightly anti-Semitic students. Conversely, the creative and friendly goofball has made many friends at the school, and is even considering starting a band.
